Reimbursing shipping costs?

Q: Reimbursing shipping costs?

Hello ..new to this site. I have only had my Acer Tablet for 7 mths and the touch screen is not working. Of course it needs to be shipped to Mississauga, ON in Canada as I live in Canada(MB). Specially packed to protect it and they only want it sent by UPS or Fedex or some shipping company. So went to do that until they told me how much it was to cost..$44 and some cents to ship...this is ridiculous. Yeah good for buisiness owners as they could just use it as a buisiness expense but as a little guy we just keep on paying!I asked the chat guy about reimbursing the shipping costs and they said they would NOT. It still is on warranty!Any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Reimbursing shipping costs?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, is there some kind of reimbursement one can receive or shipping labels for returning an Acer laptop that is being repaired under warranty?  It seems pretty odd to make someone pay for shipping for a product that is broken in less than a year. I have been using my Acer desktop for years (nearly 5 now) and I love it, but the laptop I bought less than a year ago, not so much.  I don't know if that's par for the course, but I really dislike the quality of this laptop and then to have to pay shipping to fix it on top of that is pretty much guaranteeing I never take a warranty as any value.

From looking at various sites, I see that the ink is the most expensive part of printing but I can't find any place which will show me the best deal in the UK for an all-in-one printer and the printing/ink costs.

There are soooo many all-in-ones out there I just can't see spending any more days trying to compare running costs!

Any info or links would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have a question to ask, hopefully I am in the right place. My sister sent me an email stating that someone had approached her on finishing a website that another person started. I believe that this website will have about 80 links from his to their personal pages. She wanted to know how much should she bill this person for the completion of the site. I have no idea, hopefully someone here can help her with this question.

A:web page costs

If this is going to be a straight-forward "brochure" style website, meaning no cgi, perl, databases, just many pages connected with links, then average I have seen is about $20-$30 per page worked.

Over here, going rate for a free-lancer to build a site is anywhere from 500 for a very small and basic site, to over 5000 for a larger, but still basic site.

Like this one here:-
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...tails.asp?EdpNo=3247594&body=MAIN#detailspecs

I mean loking at it's Core Clock of 500Mhz it's seems SLOWER then the other cards around like the 8800GT Alpha dog extreme which has a core clock of above 650. And it costs about $100 Less!!!!
What makes this XFX 8800 GTS so expensive? what is the benfit of getthing this card? Besides the 640MB?
Or is the price difference just because of the memory?
Please enlighten me in this. Thank you.

I am planning to purchase an item of PC games software from an outlet in Canada as it will not be released in the UK for the forseeable future. If ever !

The price is great and they offer worldwide shipping but what concerns me is the costs when it hits the UK shores - i.e. tax, of which I will be liable to pay.

Does anybody have any idea of what these costs (if any) will be ? I dont mind stumping some additional import payments but not if it renders purchasing the game an absolute fortune !!

thanks !

Get your Lifetime License for MBAM now as the costs will be rising soon .......
Just released details of the latest version and prices -

Quote from the boss, Marcin Kleczynski @ MBAM Forums ..............
I'm very excited to be able to tell you that in a few months, we'll be launching Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0 with a completely redesigned and easier to use UI and massive engine improvements under the hood.

We'll also be moving to a subscription licensing model, $24.95 per year. As more and more people have come to rely on us for malware protection and cleanup, our costs in bandwidth, hosting fees, infrastructure, salaries of our researchers, QA department, and more have grown immensely. Though our company is about more than just making money, we are a company and we do have to make money to pay our staff to continue doing what they love, which is fighting malware. The subscription model will help us to be sustainable for the future while staying true to our roots that we will always make malware cleanup free for everyone.

We will continue to honor existing lifetime licenses, meaning any users that already have a lifetime license for (Versions) 1.x will continue to have a lifetime license for (Versions) 2.x.
We'll be offering a few thousand more lifetime licenses during launch as well. On top of all of that, new subscription licenses will be valid for 3 PCs, not just 1.

What do you mean? Like to save costs on electricity? If you are using a CRT monitor, then switching to an LCD will reduce costs. Turning the computer, monitor, speakers, and printer off when not in use is a great idea.

Hi All-

Don't know if this is where this should be, but I'll throw it here anyway.

I'm looking into buying a low cost color laser printer for printing simple color things. I already have a Brother HL-2040 B&W laser and a Canon S9000

I basically want it for printing web pages that need to be color to be read (color coded charts, etc.) simple graphics, and small photos that are already part of a document.

Because I already have the best of the photo inkjet world (Canon S9000) I don't need it to be great with the quality. I absolutely would only run photos on the S9000.

Speed's not a biggie either, even 4 ppm is fine with me in color. If I need something big done fast, chances are it's B&W and the Brother can tackle it at 20 ppm.

What I do want is a cheap upfront cost, as I am cheap (300$ give or take some) and as low running costs as possible since I do print a lot, and buy paper by the 10 ream boxes.

While the Brother 2040 would still probably be my primary, I wouldn't mind having a color laser fast enough with low enough B&W running costs to replace it completely either.

Thanks for your input,

Joe

One more thing-I'm a big fan of remanufactured toners/toner refills (not the same for ink, but with toner I've yet to see a quality difference in lasers). If you can find one with remanufactured toners/toner refills that would make running costs even cheaper, that'd be awesome. Currently I use lasertekservices.c... Read more

Are different capacity (128 GB vs 256 GB) more expensive to manufacture? If so, why? How do these costs change depending on the type of storage, like Flash Drive vs SSD vs HDD, and for what reasons?

I realize larger drives will generally be PRICED higher simply because more space = better (generally), better = higher demand, higher demand = people willing to pay more. But are there MANUFACTURING/MATERIALS cost differences between the two and if so, what components/labor/manufacturing processes bring these about? Obviously HDDs have some rare materials, like Neodymium, but this would be present in roughly the same quantity regardless of HD capacity (provided drive physical dimensions stay the same, which they generally do).

A:Manufacturing costs of storage drives

Unless someone on our forum is a manufacture of such items, I don't think we can give you a exact answer.
With any product things like demand, materials, labor, market place competition, shipping, storage, advertising and many more have bearing on the cost.

Hello - I am about to invest in a file server and in-house network for a manufacturing business that I just bought.

Everyone bidding the job is showing similar pricing for the equipment (about $14k), but there is some discrepancy around what support should look like after the installation. Some guys are quoting $35/workstation per month, others will do the entire network for $250/mo (virus software, patches, Win10 updates, etc). What do those services usually run?

And are they even necessary on a monthly basis? Would quarterly visits suffice? Annual?

I know my latter question sounds ludicrous, but we're extremely strapped for cash. So we want to do what is necessary but not invest too much capital in what might be considered "insurance."

Any opinions welcome... thank you!

I need some help with using custom formulas as a data and converting it into actual numbers. It is a little tough to explain so I will just go through a theoritical example and hopefully someone can help me out.

Okay, I have a table like:

Code:
[B]|item_ID|Name |Cost_1 |Cost_2 |[/B]
|1 |one |Color * Length * Material |Color * Width * Material |
|2 |two |(Color * Length * Material) + 20|(Color * Width * Material) + 20|
|3 |three|Color * 30 |37 |
I have another table, with no data in it yet, like:

Code:
[B]|job_ID|item_ID|Cost_1|Cost_2|[/B]
Now, on a form I have the following controls: combo_job, combo_item, combo_color, text_length, text_width, combo_material, button_additem. The combo_ controls all come from different tables that have Name and Rate fields and the text_ controls are programmed to allow numbers only. What I want to have happen is when I press button_additem, the code calculates the Cost_1 and Cost_2 based on the selected combo_item's formula, and inserts it into the second table with the raw data.
Lets say I my form controls have these values: combo_job=1; combo_item=1; combo_color="Blue"|2; text_length=5; text_width=3; combo_material="Steel"|4;
Now I press button_additem, and I should get this in table 2:

Code:
[B]|job_ID|item_ID|Cost_1|Cost_2|[/B]
|1 |1 |40 |24 |
Then I change combo_item... Read more

Helloo
Again, I need help from tech support guy and the nice experts here...

I am designing form to calculate the sum of costs for closed jobs for selected department from drop list. The user has to enter a start date and end date before selecting the drop list and on change(), Access should calculate the sum of costs for selected department between selected dates.
I wrote the following code:

Private Sub DeptCmb_Change()
Dim curX As Currency
curX = DSum("[PartsCost]", "Repair Table", _
"Departmnt='" & Me.DeptCmb.Value & "' and [RepairStatus] = 'Closed' And [CloseDate] > # & Me.StartDate.Value & # And [CloseDate] < # & Me.EndDate.Value & #")
Me.PeriodCost = curX
End Sub
(DeptCmb: combo box to select department, Departmnt: column name in repair table, Closed:from Status column in Repair Table)

Everything is working ok. But as soon as I add the condition of calculate between two dates didn't work, it keeps providing error!!

Can anyone help me please?

A:Calculate SUM of (costs) column between 2 user entered dates

I'm not that good with MS Access but the values from a userform are text values.
I think if you query something like Format(Me.StartDate.Value ,"mm-dd-yyy") and the same with the other textbox it might work, but, since you haven't posted the error message it's a wild guess.

Even if you get the free upgrade, everything from Cortana to Xbox has its ways of making you pay.

Windows 10 isn?t really free. Realizing why and how it isn?t really free can help you understand why installing the operating system on 1 billion systems by 2017 is such a big deal for Microsoft?and why this version of Windows is very different at its core than Windows 7 and its predecessors.

Let?s get the ?free? part out of the way before we dive into that, though.
Sure, you can go snag a free Windows 10 upgrade right now if you?re running Windows 7 or Windows 8?but that doesn?t mean Windows 10 is free. Buying a fresh Windows 10 license still costs $100-plus, and PC makers still pay Microsoft a fee for each and every computer that ships with Windows installed. Linux is free. The Windows 10 upgrade is only ?free? for people who have already purchased a Windows license, be it via a standalone license or bundled with a premade PC. You can?t just go download Windows 10 and install it on a new PC without spending some cash.

So why is Microsoft tossing Windows 7 and 8 users this yummy no-cost bone?

I originally went in to buy the C6180 because my parents use this model and it is a very nice printer and was very much on sale at the time. I went back later to buy the laser because after looking it up online, I found that their price on this was very low and I didn't want to miss the bargain. The laser was actually $10 less than the inkjet.

Now I need to decide which to keep. At college, I will not be using the networking or fax features, but will be in the next year or two as I will be in an apartment soon. I could use the document feeder for scanning right now but that's not a big deal.

My biggest concerns are print quality for different applications and cost per page at different print settings.

I have seen plenty of text prints from inkjets and lasers and I don't think anyone would disagree that text is always sharper from a laser. I think the same goes for graphics (charts and vector graphics, etc). I have heard though that inkjets are better for photo print quality. Now I don't know if this is really true or not. I assume most magazines are pr... Read more

This year alone they will be responsible for infecting in excess of 25 million computers worldwide, but they could come close to compromising as much as 30 million machines. At the root of this epidemic lay simple social engineering tactics designed, through various methods, to convince victims to pay for peace of mind. Responsible for the actual infections are pieces of malicious code that the software industry refers to under a variety of monikers, including rogue antivirus, fake antivirus, scareware, etc.

I am building a new Haswell PC here on the right coast of the US, and need to ship it to the owner on the left coast - built, tested, and loaded.

Has anyone done this and have any tips to try and get it to it's destination in working condition?

The owner is fairly mechanically inclined, but has never worked inside a PC before, so I am wary of what I can ask her to do.
My main concern is we are considering a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO, and I am concerned about the height of this thing creating enough leverage to tear the socket out if there was a jolt. I've considered removing it and then trying to walk her through installing it at her end but I'm not sure this is the best plan.
Or we could just stick with the stock heatsink and fan and not deal with the EVO.

Any experiences and tips would be appreciated!

Well if it was me I would get bunch of static free bubble wrap and stuff the inside of case so things don't move then wrap outside of case put in box then get bigger box and put more wrap between the two boxes. That should protect everything then make sure you put insurance on it for a value twice the amount of the package. Forgot to say to mark the box this side up so motherboard is on bottom of box.

I've had good luck with HP computers, and recently ordered a new EliteDesk. The problem is, I paid a premium for next-day delivery. The unit was shipped from Texas (to Northern California) on May 25th. It is now May 31st, and I don't have it yet. FedEx dropped the ball and failed to deliver it today, and they say I'll have it tomorrow -- but in the course of my discussion with them, they said it was shipped GROUND. Because it was shipped ground, I am certainly entitled to a refund on the premium shipping charge that was billed to my credit card. But here's the real problem: As far as I can tell, there is NO page on the HP website that provides a phone number I can use to call and complain about this. I have looked and looked and looked. I would love it if some kind person would provide a customer support phone number so I can call and explain the problem to them. Or even a URL of the web page that has a phone number. I do quite understand that large corporations don't want to hear from customers after they have made a sale ... but in this case, if I don't get a commitment from HP to rescind the charge for next-day shipping, I'll have to have my Visa cancel the entire payment for the computer, and then where will we be? It will be a headache for everybody. So how about a phone number, eh?

@midiguru

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details). If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forum.

Hi Spaceman_333,
During the move the power connector could have come loose from the motherboard. Check all the power connections to see that they are snug!!
Make sure the connection to the power switch is snug also.

I had no idea it took Hp so long to build a custom system. It's still processing from the 10th of this month?

@Jm567? Typical time to build a "CTO"  Custom-to-Order system is two weeks. Even the "two week" time frame is dependent on the type of system being built.  For example, if the parts for your particular system are not available at the time your order is processed, there may be a delay. Although we at the Community forum cannot help you with the details on your order, you can certainly contact HP if you have concerns. Open the email titled "Your HP Order H### has been received" (replace the ### with your order number). Scroll to the bottom > look for and click "My Order Status". If you do not have the email described, or if your email lacks the contact link, you can contact HP through one of the links that are available in your email (there should be at least one). When you see a Post that helps you,Inspires you, provides fresh insight,Or teaches you something new,Click the "Thumbs Up" on that Post. Click my Answer Accept as Solution to help others find Answers.

Hello everyone. I have searched far and wide on the internet for a solution to this problem, but have yet to find anything. I know about the problems at Digital River with the downloadable student editions. I am more concerned with the Discs I paid $13 extra to have shipped to me.

I was supposed to receive a confirmation e-mail when they shipped. That was exactly two weeks ago, which to me means they still have not shipped. I have tried contacting Digital River (twice) by their customer support form, but have not had any luck with that.

I'm frustrated beyond belief and have no idea what to do. I guess I could just download the .ISO, but the problem with that is then I still lose $13.

Does anyone have any idea what I should do, other than wait some more and eventually give up?

A:Windows 7 not shipping...

When you ordered the DVD, you should have received a receipt, and hopefully on that receipt there was a contact email and/or phone number. Anything on your receipt?

Hi,   I am not sure if I should have posted this in any existing appropriate thread. I have ordered a P50 (config includes 2 X 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSDs, 1 X 1TB HD). I placed the order on 12th April and was informed there could be 3-4 weeks of delay (because of PCIe SSDs availability) with estimated shipping date 12th May. In between (a week back or so), I called and I was told that estimated shipping date is 11th Of May and there is no change or surprise in the shipping date. When I didn't get any shipping notification yesterday or today, I called back and the rep was not sure about the status of my order and hence she promised to update me by end of today. Just now, I got her email saying the shipping is delayed further caused by "hard drive". I am not sure if this further delay is due to hard drive of 1TB PCIe NVMe SSDs. Do any of you, who may have ordered P50 with 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD(s), got P50 delivered? How long it took? If its really about the hard drive, I may even consider dropping this from the config (should have done at the first place).

I bought an Xbox on Ebay and the shipping wasnt listed but instead it had the Ebay calculate shipping for the product. The Calculated shipping was only 30$ but the seller sent me an inovice with 68$ for shipping. Can the seller charge such a price on shipping when the calculated price was so much lower? Im just wondering before I pay for the item.

EBAY ITEM

Thanks

A:Ebay Shipping

As we dont know which method you selected, or what your zip code is its hard to confirm if you are correct.

But Ebay say "Shipping services and rates available for shipping to United States.
All prices include any packaging and handling fees charged by the seller.", so if you selected correctly, the answer is no, ask for an explanation.

I'm preparing for setting up SQL Server 2K log shipping across a firewall. I wonder if it will be enough to open port 445 on the firewall (for SMB traffic, NETBIOS transport is disabled), or port 1433 will also need to be left open.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Adam
