HP ELitebook 840 G3 display port not recognizing HP ZR2740w

Q: HP ELitebook 840 G3 display port not recognizing HP ZR2740w

Hi, I have an issue with the display port of a HP Elitebook G3 with Product ID L3C64AVIt does not recognize in anyway with a HP ZR2740w 27 inch screen. I have upgraded video drivers on laptop. Tried to find drivers for the display for Windows 10 Enterprise ( 64 bit ) with no results. The screen is ok since it works with an old laptop model HP Elitebook Folio 9470m and display port and Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit Note that the screen only has a HDMI connection and display cable. The only result I was able to get is a quick image of the screen for 2 seconds. When checking screensettings in Windows 10, it does not get recognized at all. Any other solutions to this that can be helpful?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Dear All,. I recently upgraded my laptop to the EB 840 G3 with Displayport and no DVI-D. I need to use a samsung SyncMaster 2233 as a shared screen between the elite book and my other windows 7 machine. I have interconnected the 2 machines and the monitor via the Belkin SOHO DVI KVM which was working perfectly with my old DVI-D laptop. Since using the EB 840 and displayport with the maplin passive displayport to DVI-D Adapter here - http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-displayport-to-dvi-d-adapter-a30qh The laptop does not setect the samsung display at all. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.  I am having an issue with my USB Type C port on my EliteBook 1040 G3.  Can the USB C port on this laptop be used to pass video?  I have looked through the documentation on line, but it makes no reference to the the USB C being able to act like a display port. I purchased a travel monitor (ASUS) that uses USB C, but when I plug in the monitor in the USB C port all I get is Windows does not recognise this device".  I have update all my HP drivers, and all appears to be in order. So my question is, can this laptop use the USB C port for video, and if so how does one enable this. Thank You!

Hi, its documentation states thatDisplayPort - Supports resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz Does it mean that both DisplayPorts in UltraSlim Docking Station can use this resolution so I can have two panels each up to this resolution (eg two 2560x1440 or two 4096 x 2160 etc)  or is it limit of sum of both monitors resolution and it wont work because2560 + 2560 = 5120 is higher than  4096and 1440 +1440 = 2800 which is higher than 2160? Thanks for advice.

So, I recently acquired an HP EliteBook Folio 9480m. Went through the Windows and driver updates, the usual new PC setup, and then I noticed at the bottom it said "6% and not charging". So, I go through all the troubleshooting including all the various troubleshooting recommended in forums, uninstalling drivers, running HP support assist, etc, verified that the battery and AC adapter were both working with another laptop of the same model from work, and nothing.

HP's diagnostics say that the AC adapter is not working, Windows says that the battery is not charging. The only thing left that was suggested elsewhere to do is update the BIOS, which I can't do because the laptop won't recognize the AC adapter.

Any ideas?

I have always had trouble getting this laptop to recognize what I plug into the USB ports, but usually could get it pick up what I plug in if I tried the different ports several times. At the moment, I'm trying to get the computer to recognize a GoPro 4 Silver when I plug it in. I can get the device to charge, but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it. I troubleshooted on the GoPro side, and all is in order there. I updated the BIOS last week, and today updated everything that said "USB" in the list of driver updates.  Running out of ideas - please help! I'm using a Dell U3415W monitor. My video card is AMD Radeon RX480. The monitor is connected via DisplayPort to my computer. The monitor is connected via HDMI to my work laptop. When I want to switch over to HDMI, it acts as if I shut off the monitor on the Displayport shifting everything over to my secondary monitor. It causes no problem, but drives me nuts because when I switch back over to DIsplayPort, I have to move my open programs around again. Is there any simple way to make this stop? If I don't use DisplayPort, and instead use HDMI/DVI combination, the behavior described does not happen. I'm guessing that is just the way it is, but I'm hoping there is an easy way to make it stop.

I have 3 monitors connected to an AMD HD5770 graphics card. Two monitors connect via HDMI, and the third through a Sapphire Active DisplayPort->DVI adaptor. Things have been working fine for years, but recently I started sleeping my computer when I am not using it during the day, as opposed to my previous habit of leaving it on all day and then shutting down at night, and a couple of days after starting this new habit, I received a 'Display Port Link Failure' message:

"The system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate on your DisplayPort display. Your display might not support the requested resolution or there may be an issue with the cable connecting the display to your computer"

Now, even upon resuming my normal habit of leaving the computer on and shutting down, the monitor will work sometimes but randomly stop other times.

How can I either fix the issues with sleep, which I would prefer since I want to save energy (a money issue rather than believing my actions make any difference to the environment), or if there is a problem somewhere, determine if it is the graphics card or the adaptor that needs replacing.?

A:Display Port Link Failure, Active Display Port->DVI

It could be the hardware is starting to give out. Not all problems are software related. Going to be hard to nail down if you don't have another cable. Could be the cable or the port.

Any way to test with a straight cable, not the adapter cable?

Here are my specs:

Also, I used an iPhone cord to plug my iPod into the computer, if that makes any difference.
Hopefully someone will be able to help me out

I've got a printer that's hooked up to the parallel port at the back of my computer, but the computer refuses to realize that it's there. What is the cause of this?

A:Parallel port not recognizing printer

Could be a number of things:
1. Parallel is disabled in CMOS
2. Device Manager has an error with Parallel Port
3. Your Printer Drivers are corrupt, or partially loaded
4. You have a Virus/Trojan
5. The Printer is off, or has malfunctioned
6. The Parallel cord or computer connection is faulty

Also what is the name and model number of your Printer?
What OS are you running?
And have you thought of updating to a newer USB? (they've been around for years now!)

I own a Lattitude E7450, and needed to connected two displays to it. I went ahead and bought the Dell E-Port Plus Advanced Port Replicator with USB 3.0, since it has 2 DVI ports on the back. It shows it is compatible with my laptop.

All of my drivers are up to date, restarted laptop many times. Pretty bummed out.

I am not sure if this is hardware or software issue.

One of my USB drive is not recognizing my Western Digital external hard drive.

I have to plug the external drive cable into the other side of my laptop in the combination SATA/USB socket.

The USB drive in question works with other things like headphones.

For example--today I plugged the drive cable into the uncooperative socket. The Unlocker for the WD drive showed briefly. Since the WD external drive is password protected and Unlocked drive opens first, asks for the password, then the file drive will open.  I put in the password into the Unlocker drive.  The Unlocker drive disappeared but the file drive, which should appear afterward failed to appear.  There was nothing in Windows Explorer on the left file tree showing the WD drive was even present, although it was plugged in.

Then I plugged the WD external drive cable into the other socket and it worked normally.

Suggestions for fixing this appreciated.

specs:
Win 7 Pro 64-bit
Sony Vaio
Dual Boot configuration with Linux on the other partition.
The internal HDD has 500 GB total split between the two OS's.
RAM - 6 GB

Let me know if anymore specs are needed.

As mentioned in the title I have both pieces of hardware.  I also just purchased a third Dell U2414H LCD monitor.  I am trying to connect all 3 via display port.  However it seems that all I can do is 2 monitors?  When I try to daisychain them I got 2 monitors mirroring each other and one through HDMI off the laptop.

Is this a physical limitation of the replicator?  Is there a firmware update somewhere?

A:Dell Latitude E6520 & E-Port Plus 2 - Display port issue

The E6520 comes with Intel HD Graphics 3000.  The specs for that GPU are buried in the specs for the CPU itself, but if you go to ark.intel.com and look up your CPU, then scroll down to the graphics section and verify that it shows Intel HD Graphics 3000, you'll find that that GPU only supports 2 independent displays, which is why you see mirroring.  More recent Intel GPUs do indeed support 3 displays, but no Intel GPUs to my knowledge yet support 4.
If your E6520 has the NVIDIA discrete GPU, I can't find any information on NVIDIA's site about maximum number of supported displays, but based on your experience I would assume it's 2 unless indicated otherwise.

I was having trouble with my pavilion burning up hard drives so I purchased a new one rather than replacing it with the same one HP always done. I purchased the hard drive from Best Buy and they installed it into my laptop. I then loaded the OS and applications and drivers using the original recovery disks provided by HP. After that I updated windows XP until all the updates were completed.
My problem is that the computer doesn't recognize usb mouses. I tried using my Razer Diamondback and it wouldn't recognize the hardware. After using the driver install disc provided with the mouse it still wouldn't work. I also attempted to download the lastest drivers directly from the website and that wouldn't work. I've had two other people who are much more computer literate than myself look at the computer and they couldn't figure out the problem either. It appears that it is only a problem with mice. I tried another mouse and it didn't work either. Also it recognized other usb 2.0 equipment just not mice. My friend also said that with the current XP installation service pack 2 it should automatically recognize most usb devices even with the driver disks. Any help into what could be causing this problem would be appreciated.

A:Laptop not recognizing mouse plugged into usb port after hd switch

Hi friend....

The most likely to happen in your case is that while repairing your system they reseted CMOS/BIOS or they updated it (it usually resets itself to defaults after update). In BIOS there is an option for usb keyboard and mouse support. Since you have a laptop this option could be by default disabled. Hopefully, getting into BIOS and enabling usb mouse support will do the job! This option is more likely to be found in the "integrated peripherals" section of your BIOS setup. Then exit and save. Usually to access BIOS you have to press DEL during the POST/startup screen. You may have came across the message "Press DEL to enter setup". I cannot know many details since BIOSes have differences between computers especially laptops. Of course go ahead on asking questions if you want me to be more specific on something.

Hello,

I browsed the similar inquiries and solutions that concern this issue but I was unable to come to any resolution thus far.

Simply, my problem is that my computer no longer recognizes when an ethernet cable is attached to my computer. At my school there is a wireless network and a wired network and for the past year I've used the wired network because it is so much faster. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago, my computer stopped connecting to the wired network and I've noticed that it no longer even recognizes the plugged in cable. The lights do not power up on the side and under network properties the LAN network announces that there is a cable unplugged...

Like I said, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device driver in the manage devices window but this was unsuccessful in solving the issue. I'd appreciate any help or insight on this problem.

Thank you.

I have a D-link WBR-2310 wireless router connected to a ZyXEL P-600 series modem. Everything worked fine untill a couple days ago when I had a power surge; since then the wireless router won't show on the modem that the ethernet cable is plugged in, and I get no wireless or DSL internet. I called the internet service provider, and they told me to reset both the modem and the router, which I did and it worked fine for about an hour; then it didn't recognize the cable again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable itself so I bought a new one, and it didn't correct the problem. When I hook any of the cables up directly from the modem to the labtop or the pc the ethernet light comes on and I have internet connection again. Why doesn't my router recognize the cable? Thank you in advance for any advice!!!!!

A:Wireles router not recognizing ethernet cable in the WAN port

Why doesn't my router recognize the cable? Click to expand...

Your fine trouble shooting has isolated the problem to the router. It is defective. To try to prove me wrong leave it unplugged for a couple hours and then reset it to factory default settings. If still not working get another router.

By the way, pretty sure the ZyXEL P-600 is a modem/router combo. So if the only problem with the WBR-2310 is the WAN you could still use it as an ethernet switch and wireless access point per the following.

JohnWill's procedure (Aug. 30, 2008) for configuring a secondary router as a switch and, optionally, wireless access point follows.

Connecting two (or more) SOHO broadband routers together.

Note: The "primary" router can be an actual router, a software gateway like Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing, or a server connection that has the capability to supply more than one IP address using DHCP server capability. No changes are made to the primary "router" configuration.

Configure the IP address of the secondary router(s) to be in the same subnet as the primary router, but out of the range of the DHCP server in the primary router. For instance DHCP server addresses 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.100, I'd assign the secondary router 192.168.0.254 as it's IP address, 192.168.0.253 for another router, etc.

Note: Do this first, as you will have to reboot the computer to connect to the router again for the remaining changes.

My display goes dim in the middle of me working on it. I have to shut it down and restart the machine to get the display back. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Hi We are having issues with two Elitebook 850 G1 laptops running Windows 10 and using external adapters via the HP ultraslim docking station. It proves to be nearly impossible to come to a stable setup, either the external display is not working, either the laptop display is not working, opening the laptop lid does not work. In short, it?s a mess. Note that this was working flawlessly whit the same machine on Windows 7. Looks like a driver issue to me. Naturally the latest drivers are installed. I recently installed an Elitebook 850 G2 laptop and that one works like it should. This type of laptop has two graphical chips: AMD and Intel. I notice that when I disable the AMD driver the laptop display is not detected. When the Intel driver is disabled the external display is not detected. Maybe someone can explain what is so beneficial in having two graphics adapters. And maybe it is possible to disable one of the two completely and let the machine work with just one? These laptops are not used for advanced graphical work, but their users would be very happy if they could use them with their external displays. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Koen

What driver versions do you have? Have you updated the Docking Station Firmware?  There have been a few releases over the years to improve compatibility with displays.  WIndows 10 may "expose" new features that other Windows releases haven't. Dual adapters are provided for performance/battery concerns.  The thinking is the integrated adapter is used for most tasks and uses the least power/battery.  The additional adapter is used when you need more performance/displays/features.
