hidden window & peer listen window issue & hijack log

Q: hidden window & peer listen window issue & hijack log

hello folks, im running an amd athlon 2700 chip and windows xo pro..
now i dont think my system has to many issues affecting performance but something that is really peculier is when i shut down my system i get the following
"hidden window not responding" and "peer listen window not responding"
ive tried doing some research on the net regarding these but can find really no reference for it.
im wondering if that can be cause by someone listening in on an open port if yahoo mesenger is open? ive tried to clos yahoo messenger and then shutting down and sometimes i dont get the msg and other times i do any ideas?

and of course here is the hijack log
im sure i got more issues than im aware of
kinda like opening the proverbial can of worms aint it?

btw i know i have some "spyware from retrospect " on this machine.. but that is self installed to watch others activity.. previously when i needed it ..

Preferred Solution: hidden window & peer listen window issue & hijack log

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: hidden window & peer listen window issue & hijack log

The first thing you should do is to go to add/remove programs in the control panel and remove any references to viewMgr and also new.net .... then repost your log ....

dear sir/madam,
I am stuck in package.xml bootrapper thing. Could you please provide you suggestion on it.
I have 32bit window application which has SQL Server 2008 express and .Net Framework 4.0. Application creates new SQL server 2008 Instance with "SQLInt", which is working fine on window 7 .
then i have migrated it to window 10 64bit and updates its prerequisites to SQL Server 2012 express and .Net Framework 4.6.2.
All working fine, sql server install and instance created without any issue, but facing only one issue with reinstall process.
When i run my application setup.exe file, it always download/install Pre-install component and failed because component(SQL server instance "SQLInt" already existed.
I have package.xml bootstrapp file, which has one condition. please find below

<InstallConditions>

Hi
I am trying to restore my laptop to factory setting but i am unable to do so. There comes an error 0xc000000f. What should i do ?
And my window drive 88Gb and there is no other data in C drive but it is showing that drive is full. Why is this so ? please help

Thanks
Moazzam

A:Window recovery issue with Window 7

What model laptop? The factory settings will not be available if the the drive has been reformatted or has failed. Run the Diagnostics and do a custom test of the hard drive. If there is any error, replace the hard drive.
That error means the boot files are not available or damaged.

Issue in IE11:

when parent window had a alert triggered, that makes the child window lose focus and go behind

Scenerio:

There is a button in parent page (domain A) and on click of the button Popup window (Domain B) will open and child window will communicate back to parent window. when parent window had a alert triggered, that makes the child window lose focus and go behind
only in IE11 browser.

IE edge and other browsers we can see the popup window on top of the parent window.

is there any fix to retain popup window on top of parent window until user closes the popup(child) window.

Hello ck101 and welcome to TSF,

This seems to be a problem with your MUSICMATCH Jukebox program ... it appears many people have had this problem when installing or upgrading to with MMJB 10 .http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_sh..._hidden_window

I was restarting my pc recently when I noticed a small grey box at the top left corner of my screen that appeared and dissapeared very quickly. This reminded me of some similar problems on my pc when I had a trojan so I scanned with Norton (I am running XP btw) and I found a downloader. I deleted it and scanned again in safe mode. Norton found no problems but the grey box still appears and then dissapears from my screen on startup.

I have tryed to identify if I have a virus or any sort of malware on my system but I just don't know enough do a thorough diagnostic. I have a HJT report and I would appretiate it if someone would check it over for problems, virus or otherwise.

Also, I have been told that processes can be hidden from process explorer. If this is the case how can I be sure of what is truly running on my pc?

Here is the HJT log, and thanks to anyone that helps with this

A:Is there a hidden window on my PC?

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to the clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

I have had this happen with dual screens.

Offscreen Window - Move Back to Desktop

Select the window through your taskbar, or use Alt+tab to select it.

Next Press Alt+Spacebar, now press "M" on your keyboard. Now with your Arrow Keys move left or right, depending where the screen was or think it may be.

It should work fine.

Hello to all. I hope some of you will be able to help me. My computer will freeze up and not respond and if I try to shut it down to re-boot I get a window telling me my HIDDENFAX WINDOW is not responding. I have tried to find my Fax and I do not have any attached that I know of. I do have a Epson C84 printer plugged in and a Epson 3170 photo scanner that is currently not plugged in but the software is installed. Could either of these be giving me my problem ?
I use a dial-up connection and turn off the computer when I will not be using it for awhile but this is happening almost everytime I use it now. I sure could use some help.

I've had a a prolonged problem with a piece of XP software that I don't use called the Hidden Fax Window. It regularly causes other Internet related software to hang such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla and others. Interestingly, if one hangs then a sort of cascade failure occurs resulting in a whole group of software hanging. The PC will still believe that it is connected to the internet - the display on the bottom right hand corner of the screen will show that it is connected - but the connection has been definitely been broken and yet cannot be closed down. When I try to restart the computer it will always freeze on "Saving your settings" and I inevitably end up having to physically reboot the computer by pressing the button on the tower. This can happen several times in a day and then can go for weeks without re-occurring. If anyone out there knows how to deal with this very annoying problem then I would appreciate any contributions. At the moment I remain baffled and confused. Thank you.

Hey,Last night I got a Windows notification saying it blocked access to explorer.exe (Windows explorer) to protect me from viruses or other threats. Ever since then, when I start up, iexplore.exe opens in a hidden window. I changed the Zone Alarm settings so that it would tell me when IE now tries to access the Internet. I ran an online virus scan through Firefox, since I was worried that the antivirus on my system might be compromised. It found three things. I restarted into Safe Mode and ran Spybot, and it didn't find anything. Rebooting into normal mode, IE still opens up in a hidden window, and when I try to run IE, the system completely freezes. I have been having intermittent but increasingly regular problems with my computer freezing up, settings changing, losing my internet connection, etc. Recently I tried to restart but was warned that a program was still running and the computer was unable to restart. The program was called Freedom Hidden Window. I searched this name on line and found others having this same problem. I am using Telus Security. I also run Ad Aware and Windows Defender regularly. One suggestion was to run Ewido, which I did. I also searched under this name on my computer. Nothing shows any mention of a program of this name. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I am presently operating with Vista, much to my dismay.

EVERY time I shut down my pc, I get a "layered hidden window" message, and I usually end up having to hit the "end task" button.
I'm running xp pro. It's a new computer and I didn't start getting the error until some point after downloading automatic updates for xp and ms office.
I've run multiple malware programs and getting a clean bill of health, so I have NO idea what is causing this.

Any ideas?

A:Layered Hidden Window

Could be malware or could just be a misbehaving program. Try this to isolate it:1) Run this free online scan: http://safety.live.com2) If that doesn't fix it, then open up Task Manager to the Processes tab and look for activity that points to a particular process when you go to shut down. Let us know what the process is and we can work from there.

I've recently been having problems with my taskbar being hidden or the taskbar covering the bottom part of a window. Whenever I maximize a window either the window completely covers the taskbar or the taskbar covers the very bottom of the window. This occurs with every program and I cannot fix it, I've tried adjusting the options for the taskbar however nothing has stopped this problem.
I'm nearly positive that the problem isn't with the window(s) and the "auto-hide the taskbar" box is unchecked.

A:sHELLCON HIDDEN WINDOW

The Message kross is getting regard the inablilty to shut down because the hidden Shellicon Window is not shutting down properly. This is happeneing because of code in Music Match. I haven't checked recently to see if they have a patch. You might go over to their site and have a look.
Do this, shut it down manually and then to close Windows.

Here are the directions to post A Hijackthis log:

Post a hijackthis log please. Download and then extract Hijackthis.exe to a new folder. Do not run it from the zip the desktop or a temp folder.

You can find HijackThis on this page:
http://www.computercops.biz/downloads-cat-14.html

Do not remove anything using HijackThis. Save the log and then copy and paste the contents into your next reply here in this same topic. It lists many types of entries. Some are good, and others need to be removed. We will help you sort it out.

Hello,

Every time I shut down my system I get this box for Shellcon hidden window that I have to use "end now" on to get rid of. I have no idea what this is. I searched this site before posting and found one thread that said it might have to do with Music Matchbox and on that thread the original poster was asked to run hijackthis and then post the log here, so I've done that as well.

Also, I've gone into my start up menu and made sure no music matchbox files are loading on start up and that didn't fix it.

Any ideas on how to get rid of this would be greatly appreciated.

Good day All
At our office we have a setup with the Sage Pastel Accounting software running on a Windows 7 machine as the Accounting Server. The problem that we are experiencing seems to be an
intermittent one although recently it seems to be happening more often than usual. When the user clicks on the statement button to generate a statement for customers, a window opens up allowing them to select a range of customers for whom to generate statements.
Normally this would become the active window within the Pastel application. But for some unknown reason this window appears for a split second and then becomes hidden behind the main Pastel application window waiting for the user to select 'OK' or 'cancel'.
I have tried using the alt+tab method but this just cycles through the different applications and windows that are open. Using the Ctrl+tab option works within the Pastel software to cycle through different windows open within Pastel but not when there
is an active window that requires input from the user. I am unable to move the main Pastel window to access the active window behind it at all. When I click on the main Pastel window the PC reports the default error beep to tell me I am not clicking on the
active window within Pastel?.but I cannot get to that window because its behind the main Pastel window. The main window just sits on top of every other application and window that is open. Using the cascade option and also the vertical and horizontal alig... Read more

This just occurred recently when I shut down my computer I get the End Task pop up for "Hidden Window"

I googled it and got results on shellcon hidden window
a lot of the results says to uninstall Music Match, which I don't even have
on top of that the results i'm getting are about two years old...

I popped up msconfig to see if any fishy things were running, but found nothing
I ran hijackthis and skim the log to see if anything is unusual, but nothing found
and I ran virus and anti-spyware on safemode just to be sure, but that didn't fix it

I'm not even sure if it is shellcon hidden window or something else

I noticed the problem when I finally shutdown my computer. I haven't really installed anything recently besides Dark Messiah.

any ideas how i should approach this problem?

...is preventing shutdown until I click "End Now". I've read in a past thread that this is usually caused by Music Match, which I have installed. Question, can I get rid of this problem and still keep Music Match? If not can I get recommendations on a replacement for Music Match that has as many genre options for streaming audio (particularly electronic genres such as big beat and acid jazz) for free?

I have a hijackthis logfile ready and would love recommendations on trimming down the running processes, should I post?

You know, Im very picky on how my computrer works. People find this sometimes annoying, well anyway about shell icon hidden window. Whenever you might shutdown your computer on whatever operating system a message appears, "END PROGRAM0--SHELL ICON HIDDEN WINDOW" but there are no spaces. Well my computer is new and several people have said " do you have musicmatch 10.0 or higher. I say yes it came on my computer, they say take away the startup file." This is how
1. Go to START

2. Click on RUN

3. Type in msconfig

4. click on startup

5. Then unclick the followin depending on your system
mim.exe or mimboot at the bottom.

Well I can only hope things have worked out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have any other questions on anything don be affraid to ask!

The thread about this problem has been closed (expired and solved) but I read it, and followed the instructions given to get rid of that message,(End Program Shellcon Hidden Window) which comes up every time I need to shut down my computer.

But after I restarted my computer I got the following message:

System Configuration Utility Window

You have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the Windows ..
The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup Mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run everytime Windows starts.
Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General Tab to start Windows normally and undo the changes you made using the System Configuration Utility.

I clicked on OK, because what happens if I don't?
Can somebody help me with this?
Thank you!
Peppi

Hi again!I've been working on my laptop for the past couple of days trying to get it to speed up. I'm not sure if it still has any viruses being that I've followed all the steps in the BC preparation guide. But it is still slow even after I ran disk cleanup utility, scandisk and defraged the hard drive. When shutting down two windows pop up that say, "Shelllcon Hidden Window" end task? Also, I've searched BC trying to find how to fix the laptop monitor. The internet screen doesn't fit the monitor. There is about an inch of black on each side. Can anyone tell me how to, or point me to the tutorial on how to fix this? Thanks so much for any help you all can provide me.
