Been getting so many BSOD's on laptop in the past 2 days that it's a miracle I'm even able to type on Safe mode at the moment. I tried System Restore.. problem persists. I tried Last Known Good configuration.

After creating this thread, I'll do the chldsk thing but I remember doing it yesteday and it prompted me to do a system restore, which doesn't work. Anyway,

OS - Windows Vista 64-bit
? What was original installed OS on system? Win Vista 64 bit
? Age of system - 2 years old
? Age of OS installation - never reinstalled
? CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 at 2 GHz
? Video Card - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
thanks

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi -

Remove Daemon Tools/ Alcohol 120. Common driver sptd.sys named probable cause.

Remove Kaspersky Internet Security - also name probable cause.

KIS Removal - http://jcgriff2.com/A-V_Removal_Tools/KIS_Removal.html

You are running Vista SP1 and need to install all outstanding Windows Updates, including Vista SP2.

http://sysnative.com/0x1/Vista_SP_Prepwork.html

If BSODs persist, run the Driver Verifier -- http://sysnative.com/0x1/driver_verifier.htm

I've been received BSOD's and freezing during start-up or even during boot mode for the past two days on my toshiba laptop. It's a miracle that I'm even able to use Safe mode at the moment -- it took me like 10 tries -- so I'm trying to type this up quickly before I encounter another problem.

The most defitive minidump error is 0x000000D3: DRIVER_PORTION_MUST_BE_NONPAGED
Basically a driver is attempting to access a higher IRQ Level as paged when it actually should be non-paged. This results in system crashes.

The driver in question is kl1.sys which belongs to your Kaspersky antivirus. Try uninstalling it via Safe Mode and reboot. Then reinstall and see if that helps.

I've had my Toshiba Sat 1900 laptop for about 1 years now and I'm starting to get a few problems with it. I find that the computer is running slow, the monitor is acting weird when I scroll up and down I'm getting a wigly/wavy look from the screen (pixel problem?) and it just doesn't work as good as it did.

I've been told laptops don't last as long as a desktop pc. Is this true?

What should I do about my laptop with these problems? thanks.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 running 32 bit Vista, and I used to be able to scroll with the touchpad, however, it doesn't seem to be working any longer. Also, in the synaptics pointing device program, I am unable to configure actions to the left and right buttons. I checked apoint.exe and it seems to be working fine...does anyone know what may be causing this or how to fix it? What should I be reinstalling? It's very annoying and I'd like to be able to scroll without holding the button and dragging. Thanks

A:Toshiba Satellite A200 Notebook - Synaptics Touchpad Not Scrolling?

It could be a hardware issue.

I had similar problems w/ notebook - mousepad had to be replaced.

You could try to un-install all drivers in Device Manager then re-boot. Vista will re-install. Also make sure to go to OEM site and get updated driver - if available.

Note that you will lose mouse function completely after un-install. Have USB mouse or b/c familar with CTRL-ALT-DEL that will get you to screen so you can use arrow keys to restart system

Hi,
I have a Toshiba M45-S359 notebook laptop. About every 20-30 seconds, the wireless connection drops off (and immediately automatically reconnects). This is not a router issue because I tried 2 different routers (Linksys and Netgear) and also the wireless connection is perfectly stable on the other laptop I have. There are no interference issues. My phone operates at a very different (5.8 GHz) frequency. Also, the issue exists even when I have the laptop sitting very close to the router. Any suggestions/advice? Thanks in advance.

I'm going to college next year and picking out a lap top. I need to know which is a better buy? i will be using it for gaming, school work, and video editing...

Asus G2Sg-A1 Gaming Notebook- $1,985
(http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/asus-g2sg-a1-gaming/4505-3121_7-32904283.html?tag=lst))
or
Toshiba Satellite X205-SLi6- $2,199
(http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/toshiba-satellite-x205-sli6/4505-3121_7-32906098.html?tag=box4505)))

I like alot about each one but there are some slight differences...
The Toshiba has a 2.5ghz duo processor, where the asus only has the same, but the asus has 4gb ram and the toshiba only has 1.
The Toshiba has a 200gb 7200rpm hdd. The asus has a 320gb hdd, but is only 5500rpm.
Toshiba has a fingerprint thing on it which i like for good security reasons, but the asus has a video in tv tuner, which is great because I would end up buying a good one anyway.

I could just buy a 7200rpm 200gb harddrive for the asus laptop and prices would be equil

I've been getting bluescreens frequently on a Toshiba Satellite P205D-S7802 for about a month now, progressively more frequently until now it's 3 or 4 times an hour. I haven't been able to figure out any application or combo of applications to cause a bluescreen, it seems to be at random times. It's happened several times on startup so I doubt it's a heat issue. Last night I ran the Windows mem diagnostic for 17 cycles with no errors. When it started I was running the original 2 year old install of Vista, about a week ago I ran a clean install of Win 7 Pro x86 and the problem continues at the same frequency. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Aaron

Sounds like hardware to me if a clean OS install doesn't resolve the issue. Could be memory, HD, or heat. Keep in mind that heat can still be an issue during startup since the computer is basically running at 100% during the boot process. If the CPU fan is gunked up with dust or is failing/failed, you can get these kinds of issues. The first thing I'd do is run a utility like memtest to see if your RAM is having issues.

Hello!

- Toshiba Satellite A100 notebaook, Core 2 T5500 @1.66ghz, 1 GB RAM
- Vista Home Premium SP1, 32bit OEM . Original install 3 years old.

Doesn't ever completely finish boot before blue-screening with error:

STOP: 0x0000007F (0x00000008, 0x8013F000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Runs fine in Safe Mode without issue.

I have:
- tested memory
- run CHKDSK
- re-installed display driver
- tried the only system restore points available
- run malware scans
- used AV Vendors software removal tool to remove traces of former installations
- used MSCONFIG to progressively turn on all services
- and a whole heap of other stuff that I can;t remember now (but didn't work )

I have attached jcgriff2 files.

perfmon /report gives an error ("An error occured while attempting to generate the report. The system cannot find the path specified.") Maybe can't run in Safe Mode?

Unable to get anywhere with Driver Verifier because I am stuck in Safe Mode.

Here's hoping you can help!

Hi -

You need to remove Authentium AntiVirus5 - it is listed as the probable cause of the most recent dump.

Use Revo if necessary --> http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html

Both Intel Ethernet and Intel wifi have 2007 timestamps on them - update the drivers -

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

You are running Vista SP1 and need to update with Vista SP2.

Vista SP2 prep-work --> http://jcgriff2.com/0x1/Vista_SP_Prepwork.html

Windbg Logs
--> http://jcgriff2.com/dbug_logs/_99-db..._jcgriff2_.txt
--> http://jcgriff2.com/dbug_logs/_99-db...riff2_.txt.zip

Also, you have 1 GB RAM. Vista needs at least 2 GB RAM to run efficiently. I would suggest RAM upgrade.

Firstly, I honestly wasnt expecting that amount of people suffering exactly the same problem with Win 7 !!! Thx in advance and your help will be highly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the Windows Debugging Tools aren't able to access symbols for your operating system files (in particular NTOSKRNL.EXE / NTKRNLMP.EXE / NTKRNLPA.EXE / NTKRPAMP.EXE) from the Microsoft Symbol Server - so that makes debugging them difficult if not impossible.

Please do the following (this will not affect the analysis of the current files - but it may help later files that are acquired):
- activate/validate the Windows installation at Genuine Microsoft Software
- run sfc.exe /scannow to replace any problem files
- open a support incident with Microsoft to see if they can fix the missing symbols issue ( Windows 7 Solution Center )
- If that doesn't fix it, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows
- don't use "leaked"/torrent builds

So, let's try this the old-fashioned way.....

This is a STOP 0xF4 error that blames ntkrnlpa.exe as at fault. This isn't the case - as a problem of this sort would cause many more problems than you're currently suffering from.

The most likely issue, IMO, is either a "hacked" OS - or a malware infection. If this is the case, then repairs of any sort are unlikely to work effectively.

If this isn't the case, then you try running Driver Verifier according to these directions:

A while back cybercore helped me solve a really frustrating recurring BSOD. It helped a lot, but I couldn't find all the driver updates I needed, and now I think some new problems may be surfacing.

My webcam has never worked properly, and some of the Bugcodes seem to point to that, but I'm pretty illiterate in these areas, so maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Talked to Toshiba support, and he thinks everything comes down to the kernel in the system 32, and that I probably have a virus and need to reformat the computer and start from scratch. Not really stoked about that solution, but want to do what needs to be done.

Is there a way to contribute to the forum? You guys are really helpful, and I appreciate it.

most of your crashes (from 3/2 till present) are caused by usbccgp.sys which is a generic usb composite driver (probably the webcams). Is that web cam supported under win 7? is the driver win 7 or earlier?

Hi

In the past few months my new laptop has been having bsod errors and the frequency of them has increased recently.
The errors happen randomly but usually when browsing the internet.
Thanks for any help or advice offered. (Anything would be apreciated).

I have also been considering doing a factory restore and a hardware refresh. And I may chang the OS to Windows 7.

I am running Windows XP Pro and have maxed out the RAM on my P35.

I had a local computer repair shop disassemble, clean any dust and junk out, remove the processor and reseat it using thermal transfer compound. The computer was running fine before I had all this done. When I got it back and turned it on it booted OK but began to slow until it was barley working, then I got the BSOD. After the memory dump it rebooted and repeated the process. After trying several more reboots I finally gave up and called the computer repair shop I had used and returned it to them. After a day they told me it must be my hard drive because they replaced my hard drive with one of theirs and it ran over night without any problem. I had an older hard drive I had removed from this machine a few weeks before to upgrade to a larger one so I put the old drive back in. The same problem remained. I again called the repair shop and told them what I had done, but they said they could not help me. I will not recommedn this repair shop to anyone.

I was on my own so after reading many articles on the Internet I desided to try to fix it myself. I wiped the hard drive using an all 0's wipe program. I had made an image of the drive using Acronis before I had taken the computer to the repair shop so I restored the image. I still have the same problem!!!

Anyone have any suggestions on what I could try (other than a new hard drive or clean reinstall of Windows).

Working on problem for niece's laptop (Satellite L305-S5894) running Vista Home Premium SP1 (32-bit), 3GB RAM, Pentium Dual Core T3200. Getting BSOD, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors. Stop codes 0x0000000A (0x00000034, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x820008FE9). Problem occurs in regular and safe modes. Feels random, but definitely related to activity on the system. If allowed to sit with no user action, the problem does not occur. Have run a couple of virus and malware checks against the system, and cleaned/deleted the items found. There really was not a significant number of threats found. Have tried disabling non-essential startup software to no-avail. Problem prevents me from upgrading to SP2.

No help from niece in terms of anything she might have done, or software she might have installed to start the troubles. Nothing available in system restores to allow roll-back - although system restore is enabled.

Am attaching 3 recent DMP files.

I would appreciate any help in resolving. Thanks.

I picked up a toshiba satellite with 2.5 gigs of ram and intel core duo processor. It came with windows vista supposedly and worked well for 6 months, but the user then asked for windows 7 to be installed. Since then its been receiving constant bsod's and memory dumps. and will randomly shut down at times. It can run in safe mode well and had no trouble re-installing windows 7. The whole installation went well with no restarts or hiccups so i believe it isnt the machine but a software or driver problem.

Hello everyone,

I wandered if anyone can help me. Over this week I have purchased 2 x 4GB RAM Modules from Maplin stores in the United Kingdom (that's where I live) and I have installed them in the laptop and everytime I go to install Windows, the Laptop Blue Screens and turns itself off. I did some research before I bought the RAM on the Crucial memory website and it recommended me to buy the DDR 3 PC3-12800 RAM which is what I bought from Maplins, however this doesn't work.

The laptop is running the BIOS version of 1.08, does this matter?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Quote:
The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.

Hello, Coming here once again for help.

Apparently our Toshiba Satellite laptop has been having a BSOD for a while and i didn't know about it, But my mother came to me the other day ( after the laptop had been running very very hot ) and said that it had stated that it had started in a special version of windows after a hard disk error and the drive should be backed up.

It warns that there is a problem with the hard drive and requests you run a back up.

(We've run a backup recently and appear to have all our stuff available ) One thing that puzzles me is the laptop appears to be running on an old version/backup with many programs and files missing.

I'm wondering If i need to purchase and replace the hard drive on it, and what diagnostics can be run to pinpoint the problem and what needs to be fixed.

A:Toshiba Satellite Hard Drive problem/BSOD

Is the computer starting in Safe Mode?

Safe Mode run a very few files and drivers.  One of the drivers it doesn't run is the driver for you specific graphics, it runs a native driver.  This make the image look almost like a cartoon by comparison.  You would also see a lack of icons since some of the applications are loaded in Safe Mode.

Is there more than one user account on this computer?

If there isn't is there only the one account requesting a password?

I was given a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 to fix - the sound wasn't working.
I installed the latest drivers and checked all the usual and it didn't work, so I thought it might be a hardware issue.
I unscrewed the laptop and looked around - it all looked fine, but I clearly did something wrong.
When I put it back together, when booting from the hard drive in normal or safe mode (windows xp installed), I got a BSOD with a REGISTRY_ERROR message and when I tried booting from a Windows XP cd, I got a BSOD with a SESSION3_INITIALIZATION_FAILED message.
I thought I might have left a cable a tiny bit loose, so unscrewed it again, checked all the cables and now, it won't turn on at all. The lights on the front of the laptop are lit for the AC power and the battery. When I turn it on, the power and hard drive lights light up for half a second, then all four go off and then the AC and battery ones come back on.
Any ideas anyone?

After that i intalled some games that i play and at times the laptop just completely shut off and i had to hit the power button to run it again. It always said BSOD. Okay then when im using Chrome or Firefox they crash and the laptop is unresponsive for atleast 5 min. I have been getting a BSOD on this computer for a couple months now. There is no sort of pattern that I can identify for when it happens, sometimes it will go a day or two without a BSOD but there are also times when it will happen 5 or 6 times a day.

When I bought the computer it came with a single 2GB DDR2 800MHz stick of RAM which I removed and then replaced with 2 2GB sticks. So it now has 4GB or RAM instead of the 2GB that it came stock with.

If anybody can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

I own a Toshiba Satellite L50A Laptop, and have had it for around 9 months. (Specs: http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/computers/satellite/l50/pskl6a-013004)

For the first 6 months the laptop ran almost perfectly. Around Febuary though I started getting problems such as BSODs and the message "Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered, usually when playing games. I tried updating the display drivers and even restoring the system back using the Windows System Restore feature, and this worked for periods, however these problems kept coming back.

Finally last Friday I had 6 BSODs, all with different problems, and the Display Driver message now appears even just when I login to the Laptop. Also, sometimes when programs are running or even the screensaver, coloured pixels will appear on the screen and freeze up the program as seen in the first screenshot: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66602143/Screenshots.docx

I've attached the minidump files for the Friday here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/66602143/Minidumps.zip

I really don't know what to do anymore, and any help would me very much appreciated.

Hi,

My wife has been giving me agite for the last 4 months about this and I'm not sure what to do. If its a problem inherent in Vista, the comp, or both, then it makes me very sorry to ever have gone with either.

There are 2 problems and I think they're interrelated. The computer loves to reboot due to a system error. at least every few days if not more.

The 2nd is that it loves to randomly disconnect from the internet, even though it says its connected (by saying local & internet, sometimes it likes to randomly suggest its just locally connected even though my other computer on XP2 is fine. ANd other times it says Local when it connects to the net just fine)

I've looked at a lot of sites and tried a few things, (installing newest drivers..etc..) to no avail. My wife hates her computer.

I"ve run the debugger and it always points to athr.sys , which i believe is the wireless card, which is why I think the problem is connected. I ran an !analyze on the most recent and got the message below. Can anyone suggest what settings or something i can mess with to fix this? I'm fed up already. I've adjusted some of the power settings in hope that that may have caused it, without success. Can anyone help??

Hello,

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.
