Q: Outlook Mailbox

The following alert box keeps popping up in my Outlook: IMAP server wants to alert you: Mailbox is at 91% of quota.
How do I fix this?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys,
I'm running Windows XP Pro, Outlook 2003 and an Exchange Server 2003 set up.

There's recently been a need for people in my office to have two email addresses with different domains. e.g. [email protected] and [email protected]

That was easy enough to set up on exchange and I thought my work was all done but now they want to be able to change which address shows up when they send emails externally.

I know I can change which address shows by changing the primary email address on the server but doing this every time they want to change which address their emails are coming from would be a full time job. I've tried setting up the second mailbox on a different user account and then giving Editor permissions to the 'J.Smith' user so they can view it in their folders list and send items from it. The second mailbox shows up in the folder list but when I try to view it i'm getting "Unable to display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location." so that ideas a bust atm.

Have any of you needed to do this before? How did you get around the users changing the address that appears in their sent mail?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi guys,

I have had trouble with Outlook over the last week. The problem is I was on a MS exchange server and had a mailbox. I won't be on the exchange server any more. I have all my information on my pc locally in my mailbox. I want to move everything from one pc to another. I have Archived my items to include everything older than today. But the Archive doesn't include everything up to today. Three months out of date. I have tried to export my Mailbox but Outlook keeps telling me I cannot do that because the file is not a .pst

Help I need to bring everything with me from this pc.

We are using Windows 2000 Server and Exchange 2000.

In the AD console I've given myself "full mailbox access" to a another users mailbox under Exchange Advanced --> Mailbox Rights. Then I opened up services in Outlook 2000, properties on Exchange server, and added the users mailbox to the "Mailboxes" dialog. When I try to open the "Mailbox - <users name>" in the Folder list in Outlook 2000, I just get "Unable to display folder. The information store could not be opened."

How come? The particular users mailbo I'm trying to read is a disabled account, but the same happened to a normal active account (I tried that too).

I found a tread in this site and need some help and advice on how to make it work for a shared mailbox that about 10 peolpe will be working out of. It's been a while since the thread had any posts so I thought to create a new post and reference the code. I'm new to vba and I'm at a lost as to how I can get this code to work for my shared mailbox situation at work .

Here is the link to the tread I found with the code:

I was able to use the code and apply it to my 'ThisOutlookSession' and it works great for my personal mails . However, I want to be able to use this code on multiple folders within the shared mailbox. Also, depending on the folder that any of the 10 people working out of the shared mailbox move the email item to he/she will trigger either a "processing" email reply or "completed" email reply to the sender. And lastly, do I have to set this code up for each computer or can I just setup this code on my outlook?

I have a laptop and a desktop computer. I used to be able to synch my Outlook Express mailboxes by using PCSync and syncing the dbx files. For some reason, now that I installed WinXP on my desktop, I can no longer sync my hotmail boxes that I have in Outlook Express. They sycn ok on by virtue of the dbx files but whan I run Outlook express on one of the platforms, either the laptop or the desktop, the hotmail mailbox loses all it's contents and the folders within that mailbox. I then re download the mail off the web and it's all back but once I resync with PCsycn, it the computer receiving the updates dbx again loses all the mail in the mailbox and the folders under that mailbox. I know this seems confusing, and it is, but I am goinbg mad trying to fiugure this out. It used to work like a charm when my laptop was WinXP and my desktop was Win98SE.

I have 1 user who is having email problems. She is one of the older employees at this company and therefore uses PST files for her email.

What appears to be happening is that when she receives an email, it sits in her Mailbox for 30 minutes or more until the user starts messing with Outlook. From this point, the emails either drop to the Personal Folders, or are manually moved.

The delivery is set to Personal Folders.

Has anyone else experienced this problem, and know of a way to get the emails to move to the personal folders in a more timely fashion as they should? I have tried doing a repair on Office, and tried altering some of the NIC settings to no avail. I don't personally have access to the Exchange server.

Update: Well, I think we're just going to change the user to Mailbox, and use the personal folders for archival purposes. However, if you know what the problem is, please feel free to post a fix.

However it is not highlighted and when I click on it, nothing happens. I appreciate any help you can provide.

I also get a prompt to sign into my ex-employers mail server each time I open Outlook. I would like that to stop as well.

Mailing List vs Mailbox

Work System: Windows NT

At work we use Microsoft Outlook 97 as our email client.

Other depts send mail for our attention to a generic mailbox (let's call this Billing, for example) which appears in our Folder Lists, above our personal mailboxes.

This is all well and good, however, we were wondering if there is any way that mails received to the 'Billing' inbox could be forwarded/copied automatically to each member of my department (5 people). The only current way of viewing mails is for us to access the mailbox individually.

I have been set up as the Mailbox 'Owner'.

I have tried setting rules, but these only ever affect what comes into MY inbox, not the 'Billing' inbox.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

A:Mailing List vs. Mailbox - Outlook 97

In order for this mailbox to have rules set, it needs to be an account. The best way for this to be handled is to have your mail administrator create an actual account (like yours) called "xyz billing".

It's possible it could be done through VBA, but I doubt it. You may want to check at www.slipstick.com for potential third-party solutions.

At my work place we have a personal and a team mailbox as, I think many firms do. The thing is that every time I reply to someone who sent an email to our team mailbox it moves to our personal mailbox's "sent items" folder and we have to move it manually. It is very tedious and sometimes I tend to forget to do it, hence the question, how do I automate it? I know it is possible. Hopefully I explained it well enough.

When someone has been given access to a mailbox and can send (on behalf) Editor or Author I think are the correct permissions? When user sends a email this is stored her 'Sent' items. If she is wanting to have the email saved to the actual mailbox sent folder then I assume something else has to be doon? When creating a separate profile for the actual mailbox the user is wanting access to, when following through with the wizard it asks you for a username and password..

Is there something that would be done on Active Directory or system manager, and you give the user the Send AS setting? and will this mean the email is saved in the sent items folder? and so can create a separate profile for this?

A:Outlook 2007 Mailbox Sharing

Hi badasafish, and welcome to TSG.

I am not sure about Outlook 2007, but I do know that previous versions would not support simultaneous sharing of Outlook files between multiple users.

One possible solution is to have all but one installations of Outlook set to not delete messages on the POP3 server when downloading them to the computer. The one special Outlook account would be set to leave the messages on for a number of days long enough for everyone else to receive their copy. You need to be careful about any storage quota limits on the mail server. If the quota limit is reached, no new incoming messages will be accepted until some older ones are cleared out.

This setup will only show sent messages in the Outlook sent folder on the one computer that sent it. As far as I know, there is no way to easily make it appear in everyone's sent folder. The sender could cc themselves and it would show up as an incoming message for everyone.

If you have access to someone else's mailbox in Outlook 2003 (Exchange Server) and you delete a whole load of emails from the inbox, these then go into the owner's deleted items folder. I have Microsoft Outlook 2003 on a few computers. It appears that they get their emails from a local server which is defined as the MS Exchange Server. (Box ticked for Use Cached Exchange Mode). Outlook is then configure with my username to pull my emails of the server (i guess...). I get an email to my company email from an external source (not company email) that is CC to another company email address, and I will get a duplicate email in my inbox. If it is CC to 2 people I will get 2 duplicates (3 messages in total) This leads me to believe that outlook is not configured to pull the right emails from the server right? However, when receiving an email from an internal source (company email) and it is CC to another compnay member, I only get 1 copy. When dealing with 1 to 1 emails, everything works fine. Any ideas?

Ok, so I had a computer crash while I was exporting my mailbox .pst file from Outlook 2003. When I restarted and Outlook had checked the .pst file (like Outlook does when it wasn't shut down properly the last time) it starts fetching every mail that is on the mail server. Which is a few gigabytes...so I cancel the send/receive to not get doubles of everything. Apparently Outlook has lost the information about which emails it has already fetched.
My big question: Is there a way to tell Outlook that everything in the .pst file is already fetched or something? I want to prevent Outlook from fetching all mail before yesterday (=all messages that are already in my .pst). Alternatively, all mail before now.
Or is this informaion stored on the mail server? (But then the information would not have been lost while working on the .pst file, right?)

Hello everyibe,
We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.
An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?
What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?
Thank you

Hi. I am running Windows 7, 64 bit, Office 2010.

We're switching to Outlook as our email client, and I currently use "The Bat!"

Within The Bat!, I can export my email as either .msg, eml or Unix Mailbox files. I can only import email from Outlook Express, Windows Mail or Eudora from within Outlook 2010. I have a Windows 7 64 bit system, so I can't even load Windows Mail/Outlook Express on my machine. I couldn't import any of the .eml, .msg or Unix Mailbox files into Windows Live Mail.

I have two questions.

1) How can I accomplish my goal of migrating my email messages from The Bat! into Outlook 2010. I can open each of the exported mail messages and from within there "copy to a folder." But I don't want to do that 2,000 times.

2) Also, what has Microsoft made this so difficult? This is such a hassle that I would not use Outlook if I didn't have too. I'm not going to buy a third party application that will migrate mail for me. What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance,

Hey all.

So a group on our team uses a shared mailbox. Often times this mailbox needs to have the auto reply function changed. We are aware that the auto reply can be changed by logging onto that shared mailbox, however it is very inconvinient as we don't want the users to have access to anything other than the ability to edit the Auto Reply, so therefore want to keep the password restricted.
