Q: seeking program to print directly to .pdf or similar w/o printing to paper.

hello, I am seeking a program that will allow me to print directly to a .pdf file or similar without physically printing out the file and/or page. I have heard of some, however they have mixed reviews due to malware and add-ons which are included. thank you.

Preferred Solution: seeking program to print directly to .pdf or similar w/o printing to paper.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

The one I use is PrimoPDF and yes all those free programs will offer things you don't need, it's the way they use to support the free version!
Use custom installation to uncheck the offers you don't need.

Users are advised to pay attention while installing this ad-supported application:
Offers to download or install software or components (such as browser toolbars) that the program does not require to fully function
Displays ad banners or other types of advertising material during its runtime (only advertise the company products).

Hello, I am running windows XP on a tablet PC. I have a program, which is a company developed program in which I need to print the contents. This program has no option to print the pages. I was wondering if there was any route I could take to print the full pages from this program. I would even settle with copy and pasting the contents in excel but I cannot highlight the contents. I've tried the ctrl-P but it doesnt work. If anyone has a suggestion on how to get this to print I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello friends,

I'm just doing some research, well, actually that's not correct. I'm trying to do research on the way that ports are controlled in windows XP. Here are my questions:

1. Is the firewall the only part of the operating system that controls ports?
2. How many ports are available for use on an XP system?
3. I was told somewhere that there are 65,000+ ports on any given XP machine, does this include printer/udp/tcp/software ports?
4. What different kind of ports are there in windows?
That's all for now I think!

Thanks,
Seth

I never had this problem before I purchased Vista, but I get some vertical stripes on the right edge of the paper. These stripes correspond to the lines of words, meaning if there is a line of words then there's stripes but no stripes when it's a blank line. (I got these exact words from another poster that had the problem exactly to mine except I have Vista and it prints when I print online on EVERY page) - just as it says above. I have an HP1018 that did not work until finally HP put out a driver for Vista a few months after I bought my Vista machine. I've tried the rotated feature, the fastres1200 as well. Nothing has worked yet. HELP! (I use Internet Explorer)
Oh, also, it prints these black vertical lines if it's a picture OR text and ONLY ONLINE - gmail, ie pages, etc. It is fine with Word, etc.

A:printing on small paper...

Is it important to do cards one at a time? Can you feed a 3x5 card thru the envelope feeder? Another Option is to get pre perforated 8x10 and print 4 cards per sheet or one card and toss the 3 blanks.

There are specialized printers for making ID cards and clunky programs that go with them.

Hello,

I work at the University of Waterloo library where we provide public printing to our patrons (read on...this is an XP question, not a printer question). Recently, we've set up colour printing in addition to the black and white printing we've always provided. The public machines through which our patrons access our printing network run Windows XP with Service Pack 3. The introduction of colour printing has had some unforeseen problems.

The problem is that if one patron chooses to print to colour (at $0.40/page) then the next patron comes along and assumes they are printing to B&W (at $0.08/page) but does not notice that the colour printer is selected, then they will have their document printed in colour and be charged a bunch of money and probably get pretty upset. Note that our patrons do not log on/off to use a machine. Rather, they just walk up to it and start using it, so they get whatever settings the previous user was working with.

What I'm wondering is whether there is any way to set the default printer (system wide) back to the B&W printer after every time a job is sent to the spooler and has completed printing? Some sort of post-print hook or something?

I realize there are social controls which could be put in place to address our issue, but we're having a very difficult time agreeing on what these should be and their anticipated effectiveness. With that in mind I thought it was at least worth pursuing a more automated solution. Any advice a... Read more

Hi JFresh,
You should be able to go to File/Print and in the "Print:" drop down box, change it from "all pages in range" to "odd pages". Then you can go into the properties of the printer and select your tray. Say ok to print it and then repeat the process for the even pages and select the other tray. Hope that helps.

[font=Verdana]I have a canon iP3000 my main reason i purchsed it was because it prints directly onto the printable surface on CD and DVD. I print pictures, photos on Canon brand photo paper and i get brilliant results and happy with that. but if i print on ordinary every paper is where i get into trouble. Some brands i get crappy black text where it sort of goes all spidery (this includes Canon brand paper) and have tried printing on both sides. Colour text also goes like that on non canon brand paper. But very good results on canon paper. I can't find a paper that will print very good in both black and colour. I need to find a solution. My old Canon iP1500 printed black text perfect everytime on any paper as well as colour but this iP3000 doesn't. Printing on CD/DVD surface, Canon brand photo paper is great. If i print a CD cover or DVD cover on the canon brand paper the prints perfect but the black runs into the colour and spoils it. If i print on other brand paper the black soaks into the paper while the colour comes out all splotchy. There must be paper outhere that works great for both black & colour.

How do I print directly to a printer over the internet - with no PC connected?

I've done lots of research and the only answer seems to be HP 'ePrint' enabled printers

I wanted to know why no other manufacturers had been able to achieve the same?
I think I'm right in saying that HP have had this technology for 2/3 years now

I'm not sure if it's been an over night success... but it's a great thing to have

It's something I'd really need to do - but I'd rather have some choice at least
(My preference is always to use Canon)

ALSO: if anyone has used ePrint before... can someone confirm if you can actually print directly from the internet - say for example if sent from a specific email address (as opposed to having a special software that sits on your sending device) - the bit I'm not sure about is how they stop spammers sending email that gets printed!

Thanks

A:How do I print directly to a printer over the internet - with no PC?

You can do it with any printer that is connected to a LAN (ie: not connected to a PC). However, you will have to allow access to the network to reach the printer. Thus creating hole in your network security.

Hello:I am running Windows 2000 pro, with all service packs installed, including the final service pack that was issued in place of the service pack 5 that was canceled. The problem is fairly easy to describe:- I open WordPad, type a single space, then use the File pull-down menu to print a blank piece of paper.- The Print dialog box, pages entry has 1-65535 in it. If I go ahead and click on the Print button, I would need more than 13 cases of paper for the job to complete! This is a new phenomenon, as I have used this technique for quite some time to ensure proper connection to the printer and that other programs will be likely to print correctly and never have had the printer spit-out more than one sheet of paper.I can highlight the "1-65535" value and delete it, which will allow me to print the one blank page I want, but I shouldn't have to do that extra step (and the print dialogue box should not show anything in the "pages" box). I would like to know if perhaps something in the configuration files for WordPad causes this to happen and, if so, what it is, where it is, and how can I change it to get things back to normal.I did run Avast!, Spybot, SuperAntoSpyware, and the free Trend Micro scan to see if there might be some malware that contributes to the problem. I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. I have also been successfully using an HP Photosmart B209a "all in one" printer with a wireless connection. I began getting low ink messages, so installed new HP cartridges. When I try to align the new cartridges, I get a message that says the alignment failed, but I can still use the printer. However, when I try to print any document I have generated on my computer, the printer picks up the paper and goes through the machinations of printing, but when it spits out the paper, it is blank. When I print a test page, it works. When I print a page from a website, it works. It will copy a document. It simply won't print anything I generate using my word processor or spreadsheet (I use Microsoft Works).

HP's Monitor program says that the computer is ready.

I have used HP Solutions Center, but nothing it suggests has made any difference. I have checked my wireless connection and it is working, obviously, or the printer wouldn't be getting the message to print, as it surely is, since it starts, picks up the paper and goes through the whole process of printing. However, nothing comes out except a blank piece of paper.

Hope you can help.

I have a HP photo smart B110 series printer, and recently when I send a print job to it that has multiple pages and is quite detailed it always gives a paper jam error.
It occurs when printing PDF files, long word documents... basically anything that has a lot of info. As it is going slowly through once the first page is about 2/3rd printed the Jam error occurs. The next sheet has not moved at all so clearly isn't causing an issue.
If I set the quality to Fast Draft it prints with no problem, but obviously it isn't as good a copy.

I preparing a display that requires printing very light ink on black paper. I have tried white, although a lack of ink makes sense on white paper, yellow and light orange. Looking very closely at the finished sheet I do not see any evidence of any ink being deposited. However, I can see evidence of black being deposited. The printer is a HP PhotoSmart Premium C310a. Incidentally, my Hp series D2600 acts the same way. Both printers print all colors when white paper is used. Any ideas?

A:Trying to print light fonts on black paper

To get even a light gray text you would have to use black ink on white paper. The "color" white is actually the complete absence of any color at all, so most consumer printers have to turn of all the color cartridges and rely on the paper to produce the "white".

You could buy a printer that uses actual white ink, but I bet they're expensive!

http://www.thenerds.net/EPSON.Epson_...e.T596C00.html
But at $276.99 for just the cartridge you might want to consider a white crayon...:-)

Every time I try to print anything, my WF-2530 feeds a sheet through and reports paper out. The unit has seen little use and has never had a paper jam. I have carefully loaded only a few sheets of regular 20 lb paper and it does it every time. I have done the same with some Kodak photo paper for inkjet and gotten the same results. It simply does not detect that there is paper loaded.

I have tried resetting the unit, powering off then on, disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Nothing causes it to recognize that paper is loaded after it feeds the first sheet through. Press the 'OK' button and it will feed another sheet and continue to report 'paper out'.

I don't want to replace such a lightly used printer. If I can correct whatever is wrong with the paper sensor it would be a blessing. Help!

I have removed and reinstalled his driver and device. It appeared to be working then a few days later, it does the same thing. We've even had Xerox flash the printer and reset their printer software on the machine as well. From what I see, most of his print jobs are mostly from Outlook and/or Word. Any thoughts here?
