VIEWING .JPG .GIF tags in Html Editor

Q: VIEWING .JPG .GIF tags in Html Editor

Hello,

I use the Cute Html Editor to create web pages and lately, the .jpg .gif .bmp extentions arent there at the end of my files when I view them in the program. I have to re-add the extentions every time I rename anything, etc.

Can anyone please tell me how I can set it to show the file extensions? I tried going to Control Panel/Folders but I couldnt find anything there for that.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

To show File Extensions in Windows Explorer

Open any folder.
Press ALT and go to the tools menu
Open Folder Options
Go to the View Tab
Uncheck "Hide File extensions for known file types"
Hope that's the answer to the question you were asking.

Dear macropod,

Split from: insert html tags into word document

I've never dealt with macros before and trying to do this myself is making my brain melt haha.

However i need it ONLY for files that are opened, not located.

Also is there a way to turn it on and off if it is automated?

Could you please help?

For that you could use:

Hi,
I wish to use a 3rd parties website from within my VB program.
Basically it has an input box for a date and a submit button, the site then sends you to the relevant page.

My question is:
How do I duplicate what the <FORM> tags do on that site in my VB program?
In other words how do I send a date (or any data) to the targeted script via VB?

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Let's say I send a mass email to all my friends. Obviously, they would all have different email accounts, providers, browsers etc etc. If I put those special html tags on them, will everysingle person be able to view it??? I"m not talking about just the <b>bold</b>, or <i>italics</i>. I mean those other things that you don't see to often, such as <s>strike</s> and
<marquee ALIGN="Top" LOOP="infinite" BEHAVIOR="slide"
<BGCOLOR="#FF0000" DIRECTION="left" HEIGHT=30 WIDTH=200>
moving marquee tags too.
</marquee>.

I use yahoomail, and there is a function in yahoo to "allow html tags." I did that, and sent an example to myself. It worked fine. What about other mails, such as Outlook, hotmail, etc etc etc. Are there any limitations this? Will everybody be able to see the effect??

I've got several hundred word documents that I need to do some formatting on. I need to go through them and insert html tags into the document as per below...

a short bold text line

becomes

a short < b >bold text< / b > line

Minus the spaces of course.

At the moment I really only need bold, italic, underline, and unordered lists.

Does anyone know of the easiest and most efficient way of doing this? (Or some macro code?)

I don't have much experience in Word, but currently looking at writing a macro.

Hi,

You could use a macro like the following. It processes all file in the selected folder.

Code:

strFolder = GetFolder
If strFolder = "" Then Exit Sub
strFile = Dir(strFolder & "\*.doc", vbNormal)

.MatchCase = True

I previously used Firefox, but had some problems connecting to a couple of my favourite websites. They'd just be interminably slow to open and it became a huge annoyance.

So I recently installed Opera 10 and am just getting to grips with it, fixing some annoying defaults (like Password Manager).
I've come across a couple of niggles, and wonder if anyone here can help.

First problem occurs when posting / editing / quoting messages on internet forums. In Internet Explorer and in Firefox, I can see rendered images, smilies and text formatting as I'm writing. I can use CTRL + B to bold etc.
Using Opera, images don't appear - I just see the image's address inside [ IMG ] [ /IMG ] HTML tags. Smilies and text formatting, the same.

This means I have to Preview messages to make sure things look as I intend them to. This is awkward when there's a lot of formatting in a message.
Is there a way to make Opera show images and formatting in forum posts whilst I'm editing, not just after I've posted?
The second issue is to do with the wee icons next to my bookmarks. I have everything checked under Delete Private Data, but unfortunately this deletes the bookmark icons too.
I'm wondering if I uncheck "Clear bookmark visited time" if this would retain the icons? And what exactly is "bookmark visited time"? I don't want to retain any sort of log of when I or other users of the PC visited particular websites, especially ... Read more

Are you seeing all the htm tags or just the one for bold?

Hello.

I haven't worked with Word scripts before and don't really know if this is possible, but from what I've read it should be.

Basically, I use a plain text editor when I write on my phone on the go, where I use HTML tags to indicate formatting like this:

Normal text <i>text I want italic,</i> some more normal text

Is it possible to create a script that makes words between <i> tags italic and then remove the tags? (same for <b> for bold and <u> for underlined text) and how would I record or write one?

And also, can I use one to remove blank lines?

I use Word 2010

A:Word macro to format plain text using HTML tags

I imagine you could write a macro to that checks this and does the appropriate action.

You will however have to establich the codes you will be using.

I don't know if there will be a conflict when you open word and depending upon the layout <i> might be interpreted before the macor runs, but I think it's a aquestion of trial and error,

<i> </i>
<b> </b>
<u> </u>
<rmv> </rmv>
etc...

Hey all,

I've been playing around with HTML and CSS for a few weeks now, and I've been writing with notepad.... Nothing to complain about so far, but I'd like an editor that would show coloured tags instead of plain black text all over the place. Just to make it more readable. I'd still like to write it manually, so I don't really want a WYSIWYG editor, just some coloured tags and no tampering with the code when I save a file (like Frontpage does sometimes).... So basically I'm looking for notepad with coloured tags...

Any of you guys know some free editor with coloured tags, that leaves your code as it is?

Thanks!

The HTML editor I used on my old computer will not work on Vista (big surprise, right?) So for quite a while I've been looking for one that is compatible. A few days ago I downloaded an editor known as HotHTML2001Pro. It does work with Vista, but this program presents some big problems, and I'm hoping someone here will have some advice.

Friday I started updating one of my web sites...I'm actually completely re-doing it. I finished the first page, and started on the second one. This was when I discovered that the editor is making multiple copies of what I've already done. Of the two pages I've worked on, it has, at last count, made 19 different copies. The program gives these pages names like 674.htm. They show up ONLY within the program, and cannot be deleted. Right clicking on the offending files gets no response whatsoever. I went to my User files on the C drive, thinking I could delete them from there, and they don't show up there. I also tried clicking on "edit" and then "delete," but that also fails to affect those pages.

Because creating a web site requires so many graphics and html pages, this is way more files than I'm willing to deal with when I'm looking for a specific file while I'm working. (I can envision thousands of pointless files by the time I complete the nearly 200 pages on my web site). So I decided to uninstall the program and keep looking for an editor that works with Vista without presen... Read more

The company I work for is going through a rebranding and we would like all users to have a uniform email signature. For this we would like to roll out a quick and dirty HTML signature generator that uses a standard template, into which people can just enter their name, job and contact details, to create an HTML signature to use in Lotus Notes.

I've been Googling a bit but I can't seem to be able to locate something like this. Does anybody have a hot tip?

Don't use an "html signature generator". Just use an HTML editor. Can't do it right in Word, then save as HTML? Then open that file using notepad, and you've got your HTML code...

I have Frontpage 2000 and GoLive 5 on my system. Before installing GoLive, the Edit> button on my Internet Explorer has the FrontPage logo and a small Down arrow. Clicking the down arrow will give me Notepad and FrontPage as options.

After installation of GoLive, the Edit button changed to the GoLive icon, and the FrontPage option disappeared. I guess the current setting allows for one default HTML editor and/or Notepad.

I opened FrontPage 2000 and set it again as my deafult, only to lose the option to select GoLive on the button options.

Is there a way control the Edit button and put as many editors I choose there? I will be getting Dreamweaver 3 soon, and I also want to put TextPad and Wordpad there if possible.

I've been having a lot of trouble with my computer. A few months ago I got a nasty virus and had to do a lot of clean up, including installing anti-malware and security programs. After all of this, I am no longer able to upload images via any site that uses HTML-based editors/uploaders. I use Internet Explorer 11 on a Windows 7 computer. Can someone please help me? I can't create my website until I get this problem fixed. I think it may have something to do with my anti-virus software blocking my ability to upload things, but even when I turn them off it still says it can't upload any images. I contacted Tumblr and they had me run a tracer, which showed something on my computer is blocking it, but they were unsure as to what. Thanks.

Hi all I'm a bit of a noob so far as software is concerned. So basically what I'm after is a HTML editor that is 98% graphic. I enjoy using programs like Word, specifically 97, for making posters and the such, simply because there's nothing to it. I can move pictures and text boxes to points down to a millimeter.

So what I'm after is a HTML editor with the same functionality. I've had a look at using Dreamweaver but obviously price ect. have held me back. Also I'm a bit confused as to how HTML works.

This is the strangest thing (but I'm sure others may have seen stranger).

I use a program for my teaching called WEB/CT (now bought out by Blackboard, but they insist that they haven't changed it.) The program uses text blocks which are edited using an html editor. Here's the problem:

All of a sudden, I can't use this on some computers (I have tried several). Java loads, but all I get is a gray box with an X in the upper left hand corner. On other computers, it works fine. The problem is that it does not work at my desk at the college nor on my home computer.

The error message I get (in the lower left of my screen) is "Applet htmlEditor 1 notinited." Java's web site has no reference to this. The tech department at the college wants to take my desk computer for four hours (or more) to find out what's the problem. I told them that it happens on several computers, so I don't think that it's any one computer.

Any way, just asking for anyone's advice before I let them take my computer away (which I'm still not sure that I'm going to let them do

I changed About:Config --> View_source.editor.external to True. And View_source.editor.path to the location of my editor. FF does not open the source with my editor [web Developer --> Page Source]. And whatever it is opening it with does not allow saving changes.

This worked on FF on XP (though it may have been a different release of FF there) but is not working with FF on W7
(FF = Rel 44.0)

Can anyone suggest what I am missing here? (I do not want to get involved with Firebug).

Thank you for your help.

A:FF Does Not Let Me Use My Editor to Edit & Save HTML

Works for me under Windows 10 X64 with Firefox 42.0. I'll try upgrading to 44.0 and see what happens.

Edit: Works with 44.0 too.

I think I'm getting closer to my problem. Someone told me to check my Internet Properties & see who is my HTML Editor. This field is blank. Does anyone know where I can download one & which one is best to use?

FYI - My problem began when I noticed HTML codes instead of a web page within the Print Preview AND any IM windows. It is possible since I don't have a HTML Editor this is what's causing the problems?

Many thanks.

Hello Technical Geniuses:

Using Windows 7 Operating System with Outlook 2002 (work computer), when trying to open Advanced Edit in Word to put a picture with an email signature the error message reads: "could not find an editor for html files" --
have tried many fixes to no avail.

Also, using a back door way, I was finally able to put in a picture with the signature and after a couple of months, the picture disappeared but is really there showing with an "x" in the corner.

I really would love to be able to access the Advanced Editor.

I am so frustrated with this--PLEASE HELP!!

If you were able to call up Word from Outlook before, why not try re-installing MS Office ?

Hiya

Starting at last to get my website done. Now, I don't have FrontPage yet, so that's next on the list.

What I am doing, is trying to design the overall layout in NotePad using my trusty HTML 4 Web book.

How do you view it in a IE page? I'll figure things out as I go along, such as colour and side scrolling bars, but I assume its a lot easier with FP.

Thank you in advance

I just so-called "upgraded" to Dell/WinXP (after my Compaq/Win98 conked out).

Turns out I'm just having problem after problem ever since I got this system, and I can't seem to extricate myself.

So I'm tackling the issues one by one. The latest:

I found I couldn't use my good ole faithful Arach version on this new system. I have no idea why the files weren't opening.

So I had to go through endless tedious downloads of various Java versions until I finally got it to work (after a fashion - since the spider icon isn't a shortcut, but rather I have to click the application file itself to open the editor).

But I absolutely can't stand this new 5.1 Arach version. It's way too complex to figure out. It doesn't even let me paste a string of text copied, say, from the Internet. I used to be able to do that with the old version. Nothing is intuitive here. Even as an HTML newb, I took to the old version like a fish to water. It just made sense!

So, is there any freeware editor I can download that's similar to the way Arachnophilia used to be? Forget 1st Page. I remember that when I'd been trialling various editors, I couldn't get the hang of it, whereas Arach was immediately intuitive.

This would probably be better placed in the Development section, my friend. There's nothing wrong with posting it here, but I can be almost certain you'd get a better response there. You could always "Report" the thread to a moderator and request for it to be moved.

To the question, and I can honestly say that I haven't a clue what's going on. The code (to me) seems legitimage enough - although brendandonahue will no doubt come in here and preach about W3C standards and XHTML (as you shouldn't really use tables for positioning).

Speaking of which, why not try going to the HTML Validator at www.w3.org and putting your site through it? It'll tell you about any errors it encounters and tips on how to improve your code. I have the software version at home, and it really does help when it comes to coding for the more awkward browsers like Netscape. I really should go and update it sometime...

I have been using TopDawg HTML editor, but when I click to preview the page I coded, I click on default browser, IE, but it only opens Notebook. I went to folder options, to choose what opens an html page but the apply button stopped working. another site had me download to desktop this reg fixer: exefix and double click it so regedit would apply the fix but it didn't help. Even on an other html editor, I can't seem to preview the page in IE. I tried Internet options, programs, HTML editor, but I can't change the default Notepad. Any suggestions? btw, I did run my registry booster but nothing helps. any help is appreciated

Does anyone know why HTML mail loses its images when I am not online? The images have obviously been downloaded when initially viewing them, so how come they vanish if you happen to check them while offline?

Is there some setting I can change, or is this just one of the crazy annoying things about HTML mail?

Chris P

A:Viewing HTML mail offline

It's the latter. You can view images, and I think they might be in some kind of temp folder or a cache of some kind.

Basically, the line of code which inserts an image (I'm not sure if you know all that much about HTML generally) points to a certain place which you may not have access to, ie the image may be from a website and is only "linked" to, and does not come with the email itself.
