Hello, dear supporters. I need to upgrade my Lenovo Ideapad Z50-75 (Model name: 80EC).So, I have bought new best bradned 1600 MHz 2x8GiB DDR3 available in my country:Patriot: Viper Series (timings 9-9-9-24).Sadly, it does not work.Hence I have sent it back, I have got another new pieces, but they do not work, either. For this reason:Please, where can I find full specification of DDR3 SODIMM's supported by my IdeaPad model? On official Lenovo support, they cannot answer, they write only: RAM: 16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM socketsProbably there is issue by ranks:JEDEC: Design Files for DDR3 204-pin Unbuffered SODIMMs

bought a used thinkpad t61 laptop with 2gb ddr2 ram and a t7300 cpu processor

using CPU-Z program, i checked 'memory' and it shows dual channel, symmetric, and ' dram frequency 332.5 mhz dual channel'

not the 667 mhz i was expecting ?

Detailed specifications - ThinkPad T61, T61p
maybe this is normal? or do i maybe have bad ram or a bad setting somewhere?

A:ram speed looks like half what it should be

You have to divide the speed (667 MT/s) by 2, as it is dual channel. You get ~333 MHz.

Hello Everyone! So after reading dozens of threads about the problem im having.. i have to call uncle and ask for help. I installed a new ssd into my pci-e slot of my Dell precision t7400. I found it to be the cheapest way to get the fast speeds i was hoping for. I have a SanDisk SDSSDA240G installed into a PCI-E SATA 3 adapter(Images: pci-express_01 / ssd)info). Im running windows 7. I have made sure i am in AHCI and that i am running the correct Bios. The Card is in the First PCIE (Slot1) and my graphics card is in the other PCIE (Slot4). It is plugged into the only SATA port that was available (Image: MotherBoardSetup). Ive run the benchmark app and it seems like its only running 3G instead of the 6 that i was hoping for.
I have Dual quad cores Intel Xeon e5450. EVGA GeForce GTX 560 2GB Graphics Card. 32G of DDR2.
Windows 7.
Im a 3D artist and use multiple 3d programs. I know its running fast now, but any extra would be helpful. Can anyone please take a look at these pics and help me out?
Thanks -DT

Then the bottleneck would have to do with the Wi-Fi card built in to the computer. What you can do is try updating the driver for it from the manufacturer, but other than that, the hardware you purchased (inside the computer) is what is slowing you down.

Hi. I pay for a 3.0 mb/s att dsl connection. For some time now, pages seem to load slower than they did initially. After going to speedtest.net, my download speed was stated at 1.14 mb/s. This is not even close to the 3.0 I'm paying for! What might be causing this. Could the company purposely be giving me less speed thinking I won't notice? If it matters, I'm using Vista home premium and have a wireless gateway but I'm using my desktop and our wireless connection is password protected.

I recently upgraded my VDSL speed to 40mbps down and 20mbps up. Since the upgrade my speed is only at about half. I am reading at about 19-20 mbps download. I had 20 down and 5 up prior to the upgrade. And always got full speed over WiFi.

I get my full speed over a ethernet cable. I have a actiontec V 1000 modem/router. or as Qwest calls it the Q 1000. It supports 802.11 N.
Its also dual band.

My laptop wireless card is a Realtek RTL8187B wireless 802.11 b/g 54mbps usb 2.0 network adapter.

I have tried changing the channel of my router. I also tried changing the power level of the radio signal. I also updated the driver.

I changed the channel of my realtek card as well. I am stumped. I also called my ISP tech support. They have no idea whats wrong. The person I spoke to thought 802.11 n was a model number.

If anyone knows what I can do to fix this, it would be much appreciated if you could help.

A:WiFi only half speed. Help.

Welcome to TSG!

Sorry to say that's all you'll get with 802.11 g. The 54Mbits/sec is the maximum physical layer bit rate. Actual throughput will be around 24 Mbits/sec Max.

Only way to "fix" it is to upgrade to 802.11 n.

I have an 802.11 n setup which connects at 130 Mbits/sec, but the Max throughput is around 60-65 Mbits/sec.

A:I get half internet speed on my new PC

Your internet speed is determined by your broadband provider and 40Mb would be typical of a system where you have fibre to the cabinet near your home and then copper wires from the cabinet to your house. So this sounds correct unless you are expecting a much faster download speed such as you can get with fibre to the house.

The internal speeds of the wireless connections within your home are typically much higher as you have observed but at the end of the day the bottleneck is always the speed from your provider.

I using my 12 year-old Dell Latitude C840 laptop running Windows 7. It was working fine until one day it started to run extremely slow. It has a 2.6 ghz Pentium 4, but it now starts up at 1.3 ghz, at times starts up at 1.3 ghz, or even 800 mhz. Very seldom I can get it to restart at full speed. This is definitely a hardware problem, since when I swap the disk to my old XP disk, This problem still occurs, even though back when I was using XP, it always ran at full speed.

Assuming I can't find the hardware problem, I'm looking for a windows 7 compatible utility that can bump the CPU back to full speed. Recommendations or solutions?

I actually have duplicate C840 laptop I was using to run openSUSE. This slow CPU problem hit the Linux machine over a year ago. I was able to find a UNIX utility that was able to bump the CPU speed back to normal. That machine is currently disassembled in an attempt to isolate the problem by swapping parts.

I'm confident this is not a Windows 7 problem, but I am looking for a Windows 7-compatible solution.

A:CPU powers up at half speed (or less)

Hi,

Go to the power configurations and make sure the CPU power is set to 100% maximum for both AC and battery.

You should also download a temperature monitoring program on both and see how temps are running. If the slow one is running hotter, you could have a problem with poor heat transfer from the CPU/GPU ti the heat sink because of an incorrectly attached heat pipe or heat transfer medium.

Check whether the SpeedStep option in the BIOS menu is enabled. If it's disabled it may cause the system running at half speed, whilst CPU is not idle.

Hello,
I posted before and some how never got any results. Probably my fault. I upgraded to Windows 7 ultimate from XP home. All seems well and things are still pretty fast. When I do bandwidth speed tests, my results in 7 are 1.5 Mps download. In XP they were almost 3 Mbs in XP. I'm paying for 3 Mbs and I have always been close to that until I started using 7. I have tweaked everything to the best performance. Disabled all the eye candy and visual effects etc. Just wondered if I have missed something. I have 160 gig hd with only 1/4 used. 2 gigs memory. 3.2 gig Intel Pentium processor. I have disabled all non essential items. Any ideas on this? Thanks,

Sounds like the BIOS is set up incorrectly.

Whaen you 1st boot up, hit Del a few times and you'll enter the BIOS.

Hopefully, on the far right tab, there will be an option to "Load Optimised Defaults". Do that, reboot and see what it's reported as now.

CPUz will tell you what it is actually running at: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

Hi again...

My internet is normally 4-6 (sometimes higher) mbps download, .5 upload. It dropped to .1 on a wired and 2 wireless connections. Called ISP they said everything was testing fine until they finally found a problem on the line and they said it needed to be reinforced and it was their fault. They did that, and the speed went up to 2.5 mbps. They said a tech would need to come out and check for physical problems on my end.. the card in the box down the street and cables and such. They replaced the card to be safe, checked the other stuff, no speed improvement.
The tech tested the speed at the box outside, 12 mpbs. He came inside and tested the line directly, 12 mbps.
When I was running a traceroute the other day, it would always get stuck on one of there servers in louisiana before passing the signal. I have a feeling the problem isn't with my router but with whatever one guy did on their software end. He said barely anyone still has the copper connections which makes me think its not really a priority for them to care about the connection and most people are using the fiber optic which my landlord doesn't want to switch to for another few months.

I called them back to let them know the guy who i talked to before who said the problem would "definitely be fixed" after the tech came out and they said the tech is gonna have to do tests on the router which is fine if they aren't going to charge me, which they probably will, and alas the tech... Hey,

I have a strange problem in that my network speed to my laptop appears to be halved. I have a 152Mb/s service which comes through on my xbox one being on a gigabit network. My laptop is limited to 100Mb/s due to the speed of the network card.

The speed I obtain however, is ~40Mb/s through normal use, via ethernet cable or wireless. But, when I use safe mode with networking, the speed becomes ~90Mb/s as I would expect.

I have gone into Safe Mode and taken pictures of the then currently running processes and tasks. I tried comparing to the processes running on a regular use and decided to end specific tasks that didn't match. However, I was unable to solve the problem and determine which program (if it is one) that is causing this slow down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

A free utility such as LookInMyPC will create a report. This can be limited to Services. The report is a table with the service names, status, and start type. It's easier to compare hard copy and cross off the ones running in safe mode from the standard mode list.

Note if you can't print from safe mode just wait until booted into standard mode to print out the table. Save to desktop or whatever.

Hi Fiorello! Welcome to SevenForums! μTorrent or any bittorrent client WILL NEVER reach the maximum speed of your connection. And HTTP servers probably won't either. Your lucky if you're getting half of your connection because most people only get a sixth of it (1MBPS on Bittorrent is AMAZING)!

So this isn't anything to do with your connection, however your ISP may be throttling BitTorrent so...

Open μTorrent and press CTRL and then P
Go to BitTorrent at the side
Under Protocol Encryption select "Forced" or "Enabled"
(This encrypts outgoing BitTorrent Traffic so your ISP can't tell that it's BitTorrent)
Tick "Allow incoming Legacy Connections"
Press "OK"

That's pretty much it.

Thanks,

Can anyone explain this? My old Cat5E lan cable was cutting out and could not be repaired. So I went and got a new CAT6 UTP 9106 cable. The guy showed me this cable and it looked very tough. He asked how much I needed and I replied about 80 meters. My old cable was 70 meters long. ( I think the guy just put the new ends on the cable as it was already rolled up and he came back in about 5 minutes with the new end installed. There was not enough time for him to unroll all that cable, measure it and roll it back up again. Once I ran the cable and secured it there was a good 8 meters or more extra.)

I wanted to also run this cable inside flex tubing to further protect it from the elements. You may ask why the long length. I share the internet with my neighbor and that is how far it is from his modem to my house. Not a problem installing the cable things went fine and the cable was easy to push thru the flex tubing. I left the protective covers on while I ran the cable. Once everything was secured I hooked the lan cable up. Then proceeded to to a speedtest at speedtest.net. My download speed was what it was before. My upload speed was half the speed of what it was before. I did not change of the settings in the Bigfoot Killer Network Manager software . I did not change of the settings. Current settings are 1000 Mbps Full Duplex. My question is this - why did the upload speed drop in half? I am a complete noob re WiFi (alway use hard wired) but recently bought a cheap USB dongle described as 150Mbps 11n. On testing I found I was getting about 22Mbps download with the dongle (1 metre from router) compared to 62Mbps wired. Upload speed was about the same as wired.

A bit of Googling told me this was a simplex/duplex problem. I did a test with a friends laptop and got full speed, so its not my router (BT homehub) and I have the latest driver from Windows update. So - is this about par for a four quid WiFi dongle, or do I need to set some value or other to get duplex? I could see this half speed business being a problem for someone already on a low speed line.

A:AMD processor running at half speed. why?

Try opening up some program like Internet Explorer or something that will stress your CPU. See whether the speed goes back to normal.

Some processors automatically throttle back when idling to reduce power consumption. When you stress them by opening a program or doing something like that, their speed goes back to normal. See if that works.

What socket is your CPU?

I have a subscription to Comcast Cable, and a D-Link DI-604 Router (not wireless). Yesterday I hooked up the router (not to another computer, just wanted to see what would happen to my primary computer). To make the story short, the speed went from about 3400Kb/s to around 1600Kb/s. I tried it over and over again, unhooking the router, going directly from modem to computer, and got the same results every time. Are routers supposed to do this or is it fualty? If this is normal, is there a better way of "splitting" the connection between 2 computers without losing that much speed?? It is noticable when i download files, etc...

same speed.. unless you are using the other.. for Internet access at the time you are playing..if you are playing a game.. and another user gets on the computer and starts to DL "whatever"/check email/stuff.. then you will see a difference in your connection on the server you are on.

hey there. i'm running half life 1 (you know, the 1998 game) on my laptop and for some reason, it runs way too fast. i run around the maps at high speed, sound clips stutter, monsters are too quick, etc. i've had this problem before with tactical ops, however that was a relatively easy fix (i just typed cpuspeed=1800 into the console). im pretty sure its a problem with my cpu being too fast for the game and the game not being able to time itself properly. however, the tac ops fix i mentioned above doesn't work for half life. any one got any ideas?

specs:
AMD Sempron 3100+ (1.8GHz)
512MB DDR
SiS M760GX 64MB video card (supports openGL and direct3D)
Windows XP SP2

A:half life 1 game speed

i wouldnt say its your cpu been too fast, mines a 3700 (2.2ghz) and it runs fine.
you can never have too much power, only too little power.

see if theres any updates or patches.

Hi All
I know I am lucky to have a 100mb internet connection (virginmedia) But I speed test and only get about 47mb (This is using my PC hard wired directly to the superhub).HOWEVER, when I run my PC in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING I get around 102 to 104mb ( which is great if I only used safemode).
Therefore something is draing my connection. I have scanned for Malware, Viruses ans disabled most things in the MSCONFIG but still no improvement.

I attach 3 screenshots which may be of those who know about these things
Any help would be great

Thanks

Rob

My first guess would be to blame AVG. Try starting up with out AVG then testing for connection speed might help.

I had to replace the hard drive in my Pavilion when the original failed. I reinstalled the original software from the Recovery CD set I purchased from HP. The system now identifies my processor as an Athlon running at 750 MHz instead of the original Athlon 1.3 GHz. This 750 MHz figure is the same in the BIOS setup screen and in Windows XP My Computer Properties screen. I have not changed any components other than the hard drive, and the processor is the original Athlon 1.3 GHz. What would account for the decrease in speed and what can I do about it?

Thanks,
John

Go to www.lavalys.com and get the free Everest Home Edition. Run that, it will tell you all about your PC and its components.
You may need to do a reset to basic values or optimised values of your BIOS.
Check the mobo-manual for multiplier settings in the BIOS.

So I just got a new laptop and unhooked my desktop and hooked that cable up to my new laptop (the ethernet cable that is). My internet has been given me garbage speeds (max 60KBps) on my desktop. So when I hooked up my laptop I immediately did a speed test on dslreports. I got just over 1.2Mbps and downloads were going at a regular 165 KBps. But then for some reason it just completely dropped down to 60KBps. Also I did a port test and before it dropped, a lot of the ports I tried were open, but after the drop, basically every port was closed.

So is this because of closed ports or something else? I should also note that the download speed has declined before. I can't remember the last time I got 1.2 Mbps. Before I got 60 KBps, I had it at 120 KBps, and then before that I had it at 1.2 Mbps. This is soo frustrating and I don't understand any of it. Also when I took a test on speedtest.net (when I had 1.2 Mbps) and compared it to the average ISP speed, I was not even close. I was waaayyy down...

The router is a Linksys RVS4000 if that helps.

Hello. I've been working on an old tower that I have on and off for about a year now. It has a soyo sy-k7ada v1.0 motherboard and an amd athlon 1800+ polomino processor. The trouble it was having was that it wouldn't post. No beeps or anything, just the fans spinning after power up. I've changed psu from a 250w to a 430w antec. I can get it to post now but only with the jumper settings on the motherboard misconfiged. This results in me getting only 766mhz instead of the 1.5ghz that I should be. When I have the jumpers set in the proper position it doesn't post. It has my bus speed set at 66mhz instead of the 133mhz that it should be at. The multiplier is right 11.5. T My question is would bad ram cause a situation like I'm having? I ran a memtest and it kept coming up with an fault at an address and then it would restart the test. I have one stick of pc 2100 512mb. There are 3 slots and I believe the motherboard can handle up to 1.5g of memory. When the tower was running before it had troubles with posting the speed it ran at was 1.1ghz. After doing research while troubleshooting I've learned that it should have always been running at 1.5ghz. Anyways any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to purchase another stick of ram to try. Thanks in advance.

First I'd configure the MB properly - make sure the BIOs is set correctly for the CPU/Mem - and if it still doesn't work then maybe try new Mem.

I'm running a P111 coppermine 1Ghz on cusl2-c MB. The cpu is continually reported as running at 500mhz, although diagnostics (sandra etc) show cpu range as 500-1000mhz. The bios settings have changed and I cant reset them to 1000mhz because on save & exit the bios just reappears saying that the settings are wrong. (have updated bios etc etc.)It will only work on a lower setting. This is causing me major probs with CAD apps.

Hello,
My installation of Firefox was running fine, then slowed down my internet connection to less than 1mbps. I have done clean install several times and installed an older version 3.6, then the newest version. I made a point of saving my profile folder (renamed so it didn't cause a conflict), but cleaning out all other files. The new install tests about 3+mbps and when I re-test a second time (within minutes) It is down to 1mbps. This happens over and over.
IE is installed and it consistently runs at 3+mbps. Can anyone suggest a solution?

I recently upgraded to windows 2000 from 98 and my computer began running at half the speed. Next I restored 98 using a restore CD and installed 2000 side by side with 98 so I now have 2 operating systems running. In 98 mode, my computer runs at normal speed, 400 mhz. In 2000 mode, it runs at half speed because my front side bus is running at half speed. In 2000 mode, it says my FSB is only 49 mhz while in 98 it reports to be 100 mhz which is the actual speed. Any clues? IBM aptiva 400 mhz, 64 MB RAM, putting in more RAM does not help.

When plugged in via ethernet I can get about 35 megabit but when going wireless, I'll be lucky if I hit 14 megabit. I have a linksys e2500 router with the latest firmware. I have tried 2 different wireless cards one usb (TP-link n150) and a PCI-e (asus pce-n15), both with the latest drivers available. With the Asus my connection is a steady 5 bars, at 144.5 Mbps. I am in an apartment complex so there are a lot of other signals around me but I have tried to select the best channel I can with the least amount of overlap I can. Anyone have any ideas about some hidden router settings that might throttle speeds? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a Inspiron 1520 with a CPU running at half speed. I thought the original CPU, a Core 2 Duo T5450, was failing, as it was running at 1 to 1.2 GHz and it should be 1.6 MHz. I replaced it with a T8300 2.4 GHz, which now runs at 1.2 to 1.6 GHz.
I don't see anything in the BIOS that could change it. I'm going to try and flash the BIOS (it is at the newest version).
Anything else I can check?

Hey, i recently received a brand new Huawei router from TalkTalk a few weeks ago and since we started using it my download speed has been roughly half of what it used to be (700kbps down to 380kbps) and i find i have almost no bandwidth.

Also when i download games on steam, the download speed acts in an erratic pattern. Steam says it jumps to about 600kbps and then drops to about 200kbps, meets in the middle at about 400kbps and then starts over again.

As well as this new speed drop, i have an issue which has been present for years now.
No matter what i do in the router settings, all of my ports are aparently closed even though i have uPNP enabled (I used This To Check) At first i thought it was our terrible old belkin router, but this Huawei gives exactly the same results...

I used the program Open ports viewer and it showed me a bunch of ports listed as "Listen" "Established" and "N/A" but none of them were for my Pc's remote address.

Can anybody shed some light on my situation? Even an explanation of why TalkTalk internet is **** or why my router started launching Chinese rockets at me would be appreciated.

I have a peculiar issue with wifi on Windows 10. My computer shows a wifi link speed of 270 Mbps and i have tested the same by sending huge files over my network. Now the issue is that i strongly believe that something in Windows 10 is throttling the internet speeds drastically. I am only getting half of the subscribed download speeds on my Windows 10. I have other devices/phones connected to the same wireless network and they are getting full speeds!

I have tried several things but i am unable to achieve full download speeds on my Windows 10. This has been affecting me for the past around 15 days. Prior to that things used to be normal.

Any clue guys? Because if nothing works then i may have to downgrade to Windows 7

Thanks

I'm hoping someone has some insight into this problem, as it's got me stumped.

Comcast recently doubled my Blast! speeds from 30/6 (I'm guessing at the old speed tier) to 50+/10+ Mbps. After rebooting my less-than-a-month-old Motorola SB6121 modem and my Trendnet TEW-633GR router, I ran a speed test at speedtest.comcast.net from my laptop (connected wirelessly) and got around 53-54 Mbps down, and 10.3 Mbps up. As you might imagine, I was pretty psyched.

Yesterday I thought I'd test my wired PCs, one an old Pentium 4 running Win XP Pro with a D-Link gigabit Ethernet adapter, the other a modern Core i5 with 8 GB of RAM on an ASRock P67 Extreme6 motherboard, which includes two gigabit Ethernet ports (Realtek 8111E chip, according to ASRock's site). The XP Pro PC was pathetically slow (15/5 Mbps), but after running the latest version of the TCP Optimizer (Optimal settings, ISP speed set to 50 Mbps), and then rebooting it and the HP ProCurve switch, its speeds jumped to 38/9 Mbps, and those speeds are the same today. And given the outdated D-Link NIC in it, that's all good.

The Windows 7 Home Premium PC, which the Toshiba laptop also runs, and also runs the same Core i5 CPU, is a different story. Despite comparing the various TCP parameters to the laptop's via the netsh command, and despite running the latest TCP Optimizer on it, it never gets above 25 Mbps downstream. It consistently gets 10+ Mbps up. I've also tried updating the NICs' firmware, trying each NIC separate... Read more

A:Wired PC getting half the downstream speed as wireless laptop

I can't say why those machines are showing different wireless speeds as there are many factors involved, however there is something worth mentioning about the 54Mbps you are seeing now which is far from the full wireless N potential of 300Mbps.

In order to get true 802.11n speeds you need to go into your routers wireless settings and choose the 802.11n "Only" setting along with using WPA2 security and AES encryption which are both meant to work with wireless N. You won't be able to use the wireless N Only setting if you have wireless G or below clients that need to connect.

What happens if you run a game or a large program? The processor should increase the the max power. Today most processors can idle therefore they don't use max power.
