giant antispyware problem

Q: giant antispyware problem

I accidently did this:

"The user Eigenaar, has decided to prevent a change to
the user's defined shell folders from Recent to %
USERPROFILE%\Onlangs geopend."

How can I undo this?
Because now I can't use some of my programs, or install
some new programs.

Preferred Solution: giant antispyware problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I used to have Giant AntiSpyware but it has been taken over by Microsoft.
I downloaded their new version when my subscription expired but when I installed it, it froze my computer?
I removed it and am reluctant to install it again?
Does anyone have any ideas? Or would a proprietary program be better if I purchased one? e.g. Spyware Doctor?

Hello nabbersHere are a couple of on site links, that will hopefully, steer you in the right direction. Simple steps to keep your computer secure!Virus & Malware ResourcesThe school of thought is to have more than one spyware/adware program. Which is called layered protection. Reason being what one may not catch, another may.The first link above, has information on recommended programs. I personally do not use Giant AntiSpyware or Spyware Doctor. I did come across this though. Important information for GIANT AntiSpyware users who have active subscriptions Product and Definition File Updates. As previously offered by GIANT Company Software, software and definition file updates will be made available to you through the length of your subscription period as they become available.Microsoft will continue to provide the same level of support to current subscribers of GIANT AntiSpyware software as was offered by GIANT Company Software prior to its acquisition by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft, however, will no longer sell new licenses, subscriptions, or subscription renewals for GIANT Company Software products, including GIANT AntiSpyware. After reading the info above, I wonder where you downloaded the new version of Giant AntiSpyware from.Since according to Microsoft., there are no longer offering any new licenses, subscriptions, or subscription renewals.Could you please reply with the location where you downloaded it from. I'm running NIS 2006 AntiSpyware edition on XP Home Service Pack 2 along with SpywareBlaster and ie-spyad. Should I also install MAS and would it conflict with NIS?

A:Microsoft Antispyware & Norton Internet Security 2006 Antispyware Edition Compatibility?

You can install it for scanning purposes but don't use the real time protection. In other words, don't have it run when your computer starts up. This will likely cause conflicts with NIS.

Got some new rogue anti-spyware dropped on my machine through what appeared to be a PDF exploit this morning, "Zinaps Antispyware 2008". I can't find anything useful through searching, but since most of these apps are just re-skins with minor modifications, I thought I'd post a screenshot in hopes that someone would recognize the UI and be able to give me the name of a related program so I can use the steps to clean that as a guideline.

Behavior so far is just constant reminders from the tray that "MY COMPUTER IS INFECTED!". At boot, the "Reminder" program, currently "qxyfr.exe", pops up as well as the Zinaps program itself, "zinaps7.exe". "zinaps7.exe" just hangs as soon as it's brought onto the screen, not sure if it always works that way or if that behavior is just because my wireless card has been turned off.

Here's a screenshot of the Zinaps program...

And here are the two tray icons.

Any help is much appreciated.

A:New Rogue Antispyware - Zinaps Antispyware 2008

Problem appears to be solved. The process name 'qxyfr.exe' may be different on each machine, if yours is different just replace every instance of 'qxyfr' with whatever it is named on yours.

1. Killed the processes in this order: zinaps7.exe, qxyfr.exe.
2. Removed entry from startup using msconfig: qxyfr.exe
3. Removed the following files:
C:\Documents and settings\USERNAME\installer.exe
C:\Documents and settings\USERNAME\Application Data\qxyfr.exe
C:\Documents and settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Zinaps 7\*

There are still traces in the registry, but the warnings have stopped and the application hasn't opened since reboot.

I just downloaded MS Antispyware Beta, and I'm wondering if it will conflict with the other antispyware programs (Adaware, Spybot, Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster). The first time I ran it today, it only found one item, but Spyware Guard popped up with a warning of some kind...something about a browser setting being changed. I don't really understand what's happening.

Recently my computer has started displaying giant pixels anytime I want to start up a computer game like The Sims or Trickster. For a while I thought it was just 3-d games that were not working but then I tried playing a 2-d pixel game, and I had the same problom, here is a screen cap of what I am talking about.

The computer that I am running is a eMachines T3256.
It has a nvidia GeForce 4 MX graphics card.
Is there anyways that I could fix this with buying a nother card, or downloading something, or will I have to take my computer in to someone to fix it?

A:Giant pixels, I need help

Re The Sims (original?) - your card should be able to play that

Re Trickster - your card doesn't support DX8 for 1.1 pixel shaders so probably cannot play that

Re the pixel problem - uninstall your present nVidia dtrivers in Add/Remove programs, reboot, and install the latest drivers.

edit: if the l;atest drivers don't fix it, uninstall them and try one of the 53.xx series - they apparently could, with hardware assisted software emulation, support vertex shader model 1.1.

A:giant images

Hi carol, you would need to reduce the image size in a graphics program, like Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements or Paint Shop Pro. Adobe Photoshop is rather expensive, but Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro are arouns $100. There are free image editors out there, I just don't know the names of them, try going to http://www.download.com and look under the graphics section and there should be some editors there you could either download for free or atleast get a free trial to see if you like them. Hope I have helped.

i have recently bought TV Giant as i fancied a change from the regular type of games i usually play and this caught my eye. installation was fine and quick. the game then started up, got past all the manufacturer screens and got on to what looked like the loading screen, all five icons would light up to say that this has loaded then it would just shut off and go back to my desktop.

i am running vista so i thought whether it was that stupid problem where you have to run some programs as administrator, tried this and same thing happened, the weird thing was that no error message popped up detailing what happened, just a dialog box with looking for solution and then the end program screen. i checked in the problems page of control panel and looked at what the problem was. this was what it came up with:

I have also run scans on norton antivirus, ad aware malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy and 1 or 2 more such programs but i havent had any luck.

Spybot seems to have detected 1 or 2 threats which look like the examples of files that this virus might have installed but im not sure wether or not this will take care of it.

Need help to remove it completely please.

Click here and then scroll down to and click on hijackthis self installer to download HJTsetup.exe

Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

This is kinda complex. I was infected with the XP AntiSpyware 2010 last night (almost certain of that). It popped up every 10 minutes. It gave me the typical warnings when I tried to get on IE last night. After a while, I couldn't do system restore, open Windows Media Player, run msconfig, or regedit. I saw a removal topic here and turned my PC on after getting the instructions from another computer and was about to start the process when I noticed the program didn't pop up. Even when I got in IE, it wouldn't come up. I couldn't see the av.exe that I saw in Task Manager the previous night. The removal instructions said it needed to be on for removal. However, I still couldn't do system restore, WMP, etc. I finally did system restore by getting in Safe Mode with command prompts. Everything looked fine. I could get on all programs as normal. But I noticed in my task manager, there were a few "searchindexerexe. , searchindexerprotocol.exe" and similarly named proccesses that I don't recall ever seeing. Not only that, they were the all consuming the most memory. I disconnected from the internet. I ran the tool given from the Anti Spyware topic (It found a few problems), rebooted, and the same thing happened. Finally I again disconnected from the internet for a while, re-connected (did not re-start), and now everything appears fine. The search....exe's are nowhere to be found. I'm am really weirded out. It seems like the virus just vanish... Read more

Having downloaded the Microsoft AntiSpyware application (Beta 1), I find this to be an excellent spybot killer. However, it seems to have one basic flaw. When the computer is turned on, I get a full-screen black/white dos-type error message that tries to tell me my hard drive is kaput. If I uninstall the application, this scary message does not ever appear. Also, if I shut down while the updates are loading (it does not inform you of this action), then the program gets really screwed up and takes over 100% of my processor operation until I rename the offending antispy files and delete them and then uninstall.

Is there any way I can hide this application so the computer does not know it is there, short of uninstalling it again? Or should I just put it on a CDROM and only use it when needed?

registry is optimized and it has been checked for errors.
been working on this for about 6 months but never thought to check for a helpful forums site such as this ><

oh um forgot to mention... had a serious security breach that got REALLY bad... fixed everything eventually though and currently have some great free security apps protecting me so far no problems since!

Security apps: Comodo firewall, avast, a-squared free, Spybot S&D, Spyware blaster
i use auslogics disk defrag frequently but there isnt enough free space on my hd to fully defrag
never have used hijackthis (didnt want to mess up my comp. accidentally deleting something)

I somehow turned off the giant close button, the one you see in windows explorer, the internet window, and in winmail. The only problem is I liked the giant close button. I think what I did is change the theme to classic, and then back to vista, and it gave me this rounded box as a close button. I was just wondering if there was any way to put it back the way it was. Here is a picture

A:Giant Close button

Hello WeirdFrog, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I'm not sure of what you mean. That is the normal close button in Vista for non classic themes.

You might see if adjusting the size of the Caption Buttons item in the Advanced Appearance settings (step 6) to a large size may help. It will increase the size of the close button.

Hope this helps,

Is it just me, or do you think IE is consumed with advertisements? Is there a good option to eliminate all the popups, popunders, and continual video/audio ads?

By the way, I just bought a new laptop with Win8 so I'm struggling with my mind as I transition from Seven to Eight. . .

A:Internet Explorer - A Giant AD?

Use the Desktop version of Internet Explorer and add the two EasyList and two Fanboy Tracking Protection Lists from the following link. After added, the lists update themselves automatically.

Internet Explorer Gallery

You can also change what pop-ups are allowed by going to Internet Options > Privacy > Pop-up Blocker Settings. Personally, I block all pop-ups and then whitelist any sites that I want to allow pop-ups from (or CTRL click links to open in a new window and bypass the pop-up blocker manually).

I just installed WIN XP on a virgin harddrive. I don't like icons on my desktop so I like to use quick launch for recycle bin. my ISP and Internet Explorer. When I checked quick launch my taskbar grew to double its size. No matter how I moved or squashed it, it was either gone or double, but never the normal size. As soon as I uncheck quick launch I can compress the taskbar back to normal. Ideas and fixes welcomed.

A:the case of the giant taskbar

Have you got large icons selected for the quick launch taskbar?

To check, unlock the taskbar, then right-click on the quick-launch bar, and from the popup menu choose view, then large or small icons. Small icons will return the taskbar to normal size if this is what the problem is.

I was super excited to see the 4th Gen X1 Yoga released, but so dissapointed when I looked at the pictures. That giant bottom bezel. What is going on here? Who in their right mind released that in the year 2019?All the other manufacturers seem to be slowly cottoning on what the market wants (hint: not 16:9), yet here we seem to be stuck with completely wasted real estate on the laptops. It just makes no sense, the market is all about trying to get bigger screens in a smaller device. The easiest way to do that is to put a 14" 16:10/3:2 screen in a 12.5" body. Does Lenovo have any official word on this? They have so many unnecessary overlapping models, yet not a single offering that has what we all want. The XPS13 2-in-1 with the 16:10 screen is going to decimate sales.I've stayed true to my 8 year old X220 which is still going strong, yet unless something gets announced by Lenovo by end of July, it's bye bye lenovo from me.

Hi there

I'm a sucker for these strategy sim games, so I bought Hotel Giant, (Sold Out Range). I have installed it successfully but it won't run.

It looks like it's about to start, and then just jumps back to the desktop and nothing else happens. It does not crash and I don't get any error messages.

I have written to the support team but they never bothered to answer, so I'm stumped.

You guys are always so cool at helping me out, so was hoping you could help me get the game to run instead of it just jumping back to the desktop.

Thanks again

Meg, Scotland, UK

A:Solved: Hotel Giant (Won't Run)

Okay, I unticked the compatibility option altogether, and the game started, it got to starting the tutorial then froze and jumped back to the desktop. So i'm back to square one. Still no error messages.

This is a security issue.

A:Giant Internet Cookie

I wouldn't of thought of a Browser Tracking cookie as a security threat, but to get rid of things similar, I use Ad-Aware SE

Free and effective.

I have had a virus installed on my computer called rebate giant. It has 2 files on my desktop (one called rebate informer and one called rebate giant). I know how to remove files through the registry editor and was wondering if anyone had the file paths for me to manually remove it??

A:Rebate informer/giant

I don't think rebate informer/rebate giant qualifies as a virus. It looks as though it installs an Inbox.com toolbar and some desktop shortcuts. Uninstall the applications, and the toolbar, and delete the shortcuts if they are left behind.

There are no files in the registry, but there are references to files. Be mindful of travels in the registry.

Sometimes I seem to get a HUGE context menu that goes completely from the top of the screen to the bottom. It seems to have a lot of options that aren't normally there on a simple right click. I never know what I did to get this menu and it seems to pop off about as fast.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv: Gecko/20101203 BRI/1 Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0E)

Windows XP at home and XPPro at work.

It has happened on both computers.

Just curious as to what this is and what I did to make it appear and disappear.

A:Giant Context Menu

I know that sometimes default settings get changed by accident. If you want you can try and change the settings for the browser. If you hold down the CTRL key and then use your scroll wheel you can change the size of the text on the page. I can look for a more permanent solution for you if this doesn't work.
