I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

According to https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/docksSearch/ the Lenovo T480 20L6 laptop is compatible with the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station. However the docking station uses an entirely different power supply than the laptop (the old blocky rectangular one vs the newer mini rounded rectangle). The laptop itself fits on the docking station, but does not charge despite the docking station being plugged in. There are two connector slots on the dock that appear to be for the newer power supply, however neither of those provide power either. Is the docking station incorrectly listed as compatible when it really isn't, is there a hardware malfunction, or something else entirely?

I have a T480 with Windows 10 Pro connected to a Dell U3415W monitor via a DisplayPort to HDMI cable via a 40AJ0135US Ultra Dock (DisplayPort side connected to the docking station, HDMI connected to the monitor).  While using this setup, I will occasionally (sometimes quite frequently) get black-outs in the monitor for a few seconds and then the display returns without issue.  Its extremely annoying and interrupts my work.  Often, restarting the laptop will help resolve it for a while but it always returns in some fashion. I have run the ThinkPad Docking Station FW updater and it said everything is up to date.  Additionally, Lenovo System Update is 100% updated.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a new Thinkpad T480 docked to a new ultra docking station.  I have a new Logitech M500 (corded) mouse plugged into a USB port on the docking station.  As I am using the mouse, the cursor will sporadically "freeze" on screen for a couple seconds and then go back to normal.  This will happen frequently as I am using the computer.  Very frustrating.  Substituting this mouse for a Logitech MX400 yields the same results.  If I instead plug (either) mouse into the laptop directly (instead of the dock), the issue is does not occur.  Any ideas as to why this is occuring and what I can do to fix it?  I have already installed the latest updates from Lenovo Updater and for Logitech Setpoint as well. Thank you,CJ

Hello. If this is posted in the wrong subforum, can it be posted to the right one? Im not sure where to post this in this forum.

I have a 14.1 laptop but might also buy another 13.3' laptop. I don't have laptop sleeve but from what i see, its another form of protection for the laptop which i don't have.

Amazon.com: AmazonBasics 14-Inch Laptop Sleeve: Computers & Accessories

This is a 14.1' laptop sleeve. Can i use this with a 13.3' laptop? Or its only for 14.1' laptop? Because I don't want to buy 2 of these even though most likely i will have 2 laptops. One laptop my current one 14.1' is my main laptop. If something happens to this laptop, the 13.3' laptop is my backup.

A:Laptop Sleeve Question

I don't see why it wouldn't fit! If you purchase a case for the larger of the two, (14.1"), both should fit fine!

Always a risk that they won't fit decent.Ideally a slim fit, maybe with/without a pocket for a small wireless mouse and power adapter, but more so for the actual laptop to keep it protected and safe. Thanks

I just bought a second SSD (Transcend 256GB MTS400 M2 2242) for my Lenovo T480 but it is not recognized in the BIOS nor Windows. The laptop came with a 512 GB M2 2280 SSD. When I plug the same SSD in my old E540, it works straight away. The old 16GB SDD from the E540 also does not work in the T480. I read this was also an issue with the T470 until a BIOS upgrade. The SSD you list is a SATA device.  The WWAN/SSD slot is described in the base spec as PCIe - and doesn't mention SATA.  It may be that SATA devices are not supported in that slot.

Dear Lenovo Community, I got my brand new ThinkPad T480 laptop with i5 8350, win 10 pro & Nvidia mx150 dedicated graphics card 10 days ago. From the past 3 days, My laptop started rebooting without notice. I lost about 800 lines of my code during one of these random reboots. There is no blue screen error before the laptop restarts. Nor is there any abnormal program behaviour. It just restarts... I have the windows version 1803 installed on my laptop. I updated the windows version & the drivers through Lenovo vantage app, however, the problem persists.Only a week into my ownership I experienced these issues. Now I am afraid this laptop will give up during my coding or my work & I have stopped using this. I have contacted the tech support & they have suggested I apply for a return. I do not want a return. I have been using Thinkpads for the past 5 years & they have never failed me. I don't want one bad experience to ruin my brand loyalty. What should my next steps be here? I am very much not interested in getting things repaired here as I will always fear this machine rebooting on me. I understand that any computer may fail. However, I find it hard to believe something as robust & reliable as the T480 would fail in the first week of ownership. I haven't been running any unsafe programs and my antivirus is up to date. Thank in advance

A:Thinkpad T480 display too dark?

"Too dark" is subjective.  I cannot comment without seeing the screen.  When I have an issue like yours, I prefer to physically take the machine a warranty servicer or dealer.  I can then turn the machine on and we can discuss it while we are both present.  If you return it, you don't have a good way to know if your screen is normal or defective.

Having some issues with my TB3 port on a new Thinkpad T480. Currently running a Thinkpad T480 with updated Thunderbolt 3 15BF drivers (1.41.565.0), but unable to get my TB3 dock working with the computer. The problem is across OS (both Win10 and Ubuntu). Right now I am managing with R-Ctrl.Another strange phenomenon I noticed was that randomly the laptop keyboard maps to entirely different keys in the GRUB menu. I won't be able to use the arrow keys to choose the options. Though I would be able to use it seamlessly using an external keyboard.A similar thing happens in the Windows login screen. None of the laptop keys work in the password textbox. Strangely going to forgot password menu and then returning back solves the issue.I tried running the `xev` command in Ubuntu and checked the output and found that the OS was not even detecting the key presses .If I try to undo the swap (returning to the default config) then the entire keyboard layout changes to some random mapping. I have uploaded my DxDiag output but if you are interested only on the keyboard details -  + Standard PS/2 Keyboard| Matching Device ID: *PNP0303| Service: i8042prt| Dri... Hi All,  My '21 days old' ThinkPad T480 - Top of the line machine warms up at the top-left section of the keyboard, just above the vents!   I'm not sure what needs to be done. I raised a complain with the Lenovo Support and the technician who paid a visit today, apparently was ready to replace the motherboard, because he thought that I reported a heating issue with my machine. But that wasn't the case. I'm surprised though that they were ready to replace my machine with a new mother board, without knowing the exact issue.  Any ways, so all he did was replace the thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, I was okay with that, as I read in many forums that replacing the thermal paste helped reduce the heating issues.  Its only now that I'm starting to realize, that I don't think its more of a heating issue, but a SERIOUS design flaw in T480 machines.  The top-left edge portion of the keyboard that which is just above the vents, seems to start warming up within 30 mins of NORMAL usage. I don't see the fan doing its job either, may be its suppose to speed up at very high temps, irrespective, what I think is the problem is that the fan case that is connected to the vents, for some reason the casing touches the vents plastic body and that's transferring the warmness up to the place where ones left palm would naturally rest while typing.    It warms up to the extent that I can feel its not comfortable for me to ... I have a T480 with a NVMe SSD running Windows 10 Pro.  I would like to encrypt the drive, so I turned on BitLocker.  It has a TPM chip, so I am not prompted for a password.  It enables fine, and I leave it on to finish the encryption, after returning to the machine it has rebooted itself and is stuck not being able to boot, without recognizing the SSD at all.  If I power the machine off and start again, it boots fine.  I login and bitlocker encryption is still in progress.  The process repeats several times until BitLocker finishes encyrption.  Occasionally there is a BSOD in the mix.  I'm not getting a lot of warm fuzzies about BitLocker at this point and am inclined to just turn it off until I can find a better solution.  Is this expected behavior or is there something I am missing? Thanks in advance,David

Dear Lenovo and fellow community members Situation Last week, I purchased 2 Lenovo T480 for an all Lenovo customer. Both PC's experience randomly screens freeze, with an interval between 15 min and several hours, so we have removed them from the production enviorement. When freezed, it's possible to move the mouse curser, but everythink else is freezed. Even envoking Ctrl+Alt+Del does not refresh the screen. Its possible to break the freeze by putting the PC into hibernation (close lid) and waking it up again, or by resetting the graphics driver via shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Win+B.  This behavior makes me believe that it's related to the graphics, which is Intel UHD Graphics 620. I have run all Lenovo Userdefined Tests from Lenovo Vantage, and they all turned out green. All drivers and software is fully updated via Windows Update and Lenovo Vantage.  The problem seems to be more freqvent when connected to an external monitor in the dock, than when used as a laptop only. Hello,I've got brand new T480 with ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock and I'm experiencing USB issues when docked.I have read related topics and they seems to be dead without any working solution. Description of problem:When I docked my T480 for the first time, all USBs (only mouse and keyboard) were working. I had left office for night and when I have returned and docked my laptop again, USBs seems to stop working. I?ve tried to reconnecting dock, powering dock off and unplugging devices or changing USB slots without any success.Only restart of computer seemed to get USBs working back again. BUT, there have been about 5 minute period when USB devices were randomly connecting and disconnecting without any warning.Problem appeared again when I left my desk for 30 minutes without turning off or putting laptop into sleep. USBs were dead again. Only restart helped and it was followed with 5 minute period of randomly disconnecting USB devices again. All other connected devices ? 1x FHD monitor via DP, 1x FHD monitor via HDMI and headphones via front 3.5mm jack are working without any problems and laptop is charging properly as well. My laptop is fully updated via Lenovo Vantage and dock in currently at only available FW. Is there any solution to this? Dear all, I have T480 which used to work fine with ThinkPad Pro Docking Station. About a month ago, after connecting laptop to the dock I could not get it to display video on external monitor. I managed to fix the issue by pulling the power out of dock, waiting for five mins and then putting it back in. It was fine for some time, but today I put my laptop in the dock and it won't display video on external monitor, power trick not working anymore. If i open the lid, while laptop is in dock, screen constantly flickers, laptop making USB connection|disconnection sound, mouse cursor (mouse connected to dock) disapperar and appears - so it does not look healhty. I thought about updating firmware on the dock, ut considering abovementioned sympomts I am afraid that dock does not have stable connection with laptop and updating firmware in this conditions may make things worse. Is there anything else I can try other than throwing dock out of the window? Thanks.

Hi, I"m using a T480 with Windows Hello / face recognition, but it works very unreliable. And I am not referring to the quality of recognition, but the operation itself. After a reboot, I can see the IR LEDs blinking, so I know the camera is in operation and it works perfectly.after a while (Don't know what exactly is needed to reproduce, perhaps some sleep/hibernate cycles), the IR LEDs and the camera are simply not activated on the sign in screen. Fingerprint Auth works, however, there were some cases when fingerprint also refused to work in such cases. Inside windows, I have seen several times the Window Camera Frame server taking too much CPU and  I thought it might be related, so I disabled this service. It did not change anything - Face recognition still worked for some time, and then it stopped again. I suspect this could be some driver issue. Anyone else facing such problems? Any ideas, hints? Thanks
