Event Error Log: Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.

Q: Event Error Log: Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.

Our disk drive light was always flashing so we checked the event log. Every 4-6 seconds an iaStorAVC warning 129 is entered in the event log as: Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.
Whatever is going on every few seconds has to be bogging down our HP Pavilion Media Center computer running Windows 10. Our system has an SSD boot drive installed a year ago and a new 6TB Western Digital Black data drive that replaced a failing Western
Digital 4TB Blue drive. We used to use RAID on this machine, but now have just the two independent drives listed above. What is generating this warning, how is it affecting our system performance, and how can we stop it from happening?

Preferred Solution: Event Error Log: Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Event 129, amd_sata Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.

Jraid.sys is part of JMicron JMB36X RAID Driver developed by JMicron Technology. The event log means if a device is not working properly,  its driver fails to load when Windows starts. If you don't configure RAID, you can disable these controllers.

Meanwhile, please update the BIOS, chipset, controller driver from computer manufacturer's website manually for a test.

Hi,
Im experiencing sound stuttering on Windows 8, no problems on win7. Using Asus Xonar U3 with latest audio drivers, same issue with built in Conexant with latest drivers. Attaching xperf

A:Windows 8 ssd freeze "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued."

Hello,
I wrote again to Intel and Microsoft. Microsoft said that Intel should fix it and Intel said that they dont give a shit so we are on our own but i've found a workaround to minimize this problem!
Use generic Microsoft driver (NO INTEL RAPID STORAGE DRIVER)
Fix by me
Easy way:
1. Download this file - www.godlike.hekko.pl/inne/NoLPM.reg
2. Apply it to the registry (just 2x click)
3. Restart your computer
4. Sound will now stutter very rarely and if it does then just restart PC. It won't stay after reboot as it was before.
Expert way:
1.Open Regedit
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci\Parameters\Device
3. There's undocumented registry value NoLPM. As far as I know no one knows about it and no info on the internet. I found it by myself when searching for fix in the registry.
4. As you can see there are blacklisted drive names there but there's no our drive there and that's the problem
5. Remove all values completely then insert * and do line break after(VERY IMPORTANT)
It has to be that value:
*LINE BREAK
6. Your drive will now be blacklisted and LPM command wont be send ever
7. Restart your computer
8. Sound will now stutter very rarely and if it does then just restart PC. It won't stay after reboot as it was before.

Best regards

I've checked my RAM, ran chkdsk on both of my drives(SSD AND HDD), and also ran "sfc /scannow". How can I fix this freezing? I have also installed the latest drivers for everything.

I hope someone can help, I'm pulling my hair out over this.
I have 16 new latitude E5470 laptops in a classroom that intermittently freeze and hang up, and there are a lot of "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued", Source iaStorA, Event ID 129 events in the system event log. They all have the same Windows 7 SP1 64bit image. It's random and intermittent. They were originally configured with the BIOS SATA config set to RAID; I changed it to AHCI but that didn't help.I've run Dell System Detect so they all have the most recent drivers and BIOS updates from Dell.I've set the PCI Express Link State Power Management to "OFF".I've seen the verified solution in this thread: en.community.dell.com/.../19658497, but those registry entries are not present in these laptops.I've disabled the Intel SpeedStep in the BIOS
It's really annoying because I can make a change that I hope will help, and they seem to work fine when I check them during the day, but by the next morning most of them have frozen again.
Thanks in advance for any help

So I've been having this issue as well, since I know how frustrating it is to have PC problems figure I'd report back with my findings

I was spending hours troubleshooting my raid array, drivers, etc...Turns out just by re-seating the sata cables/molex connectors on the mother board and the drives themselves solved the issue. I don’t know what to do next with creeping Event ID 129, iaStorA “Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.” on my Precision M4700 running Win7/64 SP1.
I don’t know exactly when it started (but at least 2 months ago, the approx. size of my Windows System log), but lately I noticed unexpected system freezes; since they mostly (if not always) happen when I launch or use a particular, demanding application, I first thought it was a software problem.
But eventually I had the idea to look at the Windows logs, and noticed a relatively large number of Event ID 129, iaStorA “Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued.” which, as I understand it, is a symptom of a low-level hardware issue with the (system) disk or controller. And I then noticed that these Events appeared right after the system “freezes”, which can be as soft as that app freezing (and then, one of the CPU cores is maxed out for process “System Interrupts – Deferred Procedure Calls and Interrupt Service Routines”: as soon as this process drops its CPU usage back to normal, the app “unfreezes” and finishes to load/work) or as hard as the system becoming severely unresponsive, with mouse and cursor locked etc.
I ran the Dell diagnostics on this system, and neither the disk nor the other hardware components reported issues there. Digging deeper, I eventually noticed an “abnormal” number of ECC errors for the offending disk S... Read more

Hi,

First, I would like to start off by saying that this is not a Windows 8 exclusive problem, I've had it in Windows 7 and upon install to Windows 8, it still occurs, which is leading me to the conclusion that this is a hardware problem.

Ever since I built my machine in early 2014, it seems like it randomly freezes, there doesn't seem to be any root cause behind the freezing. During the freezing, it's 'responsive' but anything that requires disk access does not work, the drive indicator light on my case stays solid. I've also noticed especially lately, that when I play GTA San Andreas (a multiplayer extension) that my game tends to randomly freeze and if I unplug a USB and plug it back in, it usually unfreezes, if not, when I hit the power button, it instantly unfreezes (this freeze actually locks everything up, not just the disk); when playing BF3, it doesn't happen, but GTA SA is a pretty old game.
Also, on occasion, when shutting down my computer (sometimes abruptly due to above problems), the HDD isn't always detected, in that case if I unplug and re-plugin the SATA wire, it usually fixes it.

I run what I feel is a pretty typical setup, a FX-6300, a MSI 970a-G46 motherboard, 8GB of G.SKILL Ripjaw's, and a HD 6870 as a GPU. I've tried changing my drive controller mode from IDE to AHCI, which did seem to help with decreasing the frequency of the freezing, but it still occurs.
I'll list some things I've done as troubleshooting:
-Replaced my old HDD with a new WD Black

First, there aren't any real, 100% effective tests for motherboards.
It's too expensive to make a test for a product that has such a limited life-span.

Without any reports, it's difficult to offer an opinion here.
I'd suggest that you provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

From your description, it appears that you've done a good job of troubleshooting this.
You've ruled out the hard drive and the video card - those are the major concerns with errors like these.

You've also noted an issue with the USB ports.
Did you try the ports in the back of the system to see if they act the same as those in the front? I realize that this may be difficult as you've stated that the ports usually help in fixing the freezes
If it's only the front ports, then it's possible that they're defective (and causing issues w/the mobo) - but if it's the back ports also, then it's (IMO) most likely the mobo

If you can get an RMA, this would be the easiest way to rule out the motherboard.
It depends on what you installed/connected to the motherboard - but in most cases if the problems continue after reinstalling the OS, then it's likely to be a hardware problem. Each extra thing that's installed/connected increases the chance that it may be something other than the motherboard.

This is a problem with my own laptop, and I've just updated by specs.

I almost exclusively use IE11 and it's been freezing up a lot lately for 30 seconds to a minute. I've done the whole checking for malware (Malwarebytes, JRT, ESET Online Scanner, ADWCleaner), as well as a reset to IE, and nothing has made a difference.

I checked Event Viewer and saw a whole slew of Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued messages under System with a Source of amdsata.

I've downloaded and run Speccy if you need any more details for my system.

Did you try Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons) - Open?
How about Safe Mode with Networking? Safe Mode
Or another user account? User Account - Create

RaidPort0: That's possibly your HDD (or perhaps the DVD drive). You can check the HDD health with its manufacturer's tools.
Also, check in BIOS what SATA Operation Mode are you in - AHCI or RAID?

I am getting four megasas2 as Source with Event ID 11 errors in succession in Event Viewer on a computer running Windows 8.1 every time the computer goes to Sleep or Hibernates. On the General tab, it says: "The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort0." I have a LSI RAID Controller using the next to the latest firmware and drivers. I updated drivers and firmware to the latest version for Windows 8.1 and my computer became almost totally unusable! I have an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Rev 2.0 motherboard with the latest AMD chipset drivers but they are for Windows 8.

I have attached a zip file showing the Events, for your reference. I have contacted both LSI and ASUS about this issue.

Does anyone know why am I getting these errors?

Hi guys, found this site while looking around online for advice and am hoping someone can help.

My system is 18 month old and on and off as had problems with crashing, up to recently it has always been a kernel power 41 error but only happened occasionally so I just put up with it.

Recently the system has been hanging completely, sometimes I'll get a "windows explorer has stopped responding" message but the system is usually non responsive so I have to force shut down.

I have attached screenshots of the event viewer error log and of speedfan as I'm not sure if it may be an overheat problem or not. I have a spare hdd ready to put a new os on if it is the hdd failing, got a feeling it's not going to be that easy though and the mini tower is not the easiest to work with. Any advice or guidance here is welcome

Does this mean that I have a bad on my HDD or could it be some error, like windows can't read a corrupted file?

I have a 5-year-old Asus z70Va laptop. The hard drive is a PATA, and the system is running XP Home SP3. The problem I am about to describe started roughly a year ago, and has re-occurred at least 5-6 times.

I will be listening to audio (off the main hdd, not the DVD drive) when the problem starts -- usually streaming audio, though it has also happened twice when Outlook was playing a wav file as part of an Outlook rule I set up to flag emails from a particular sender. Interestingly, the error has *never* occurred when I have been playing a video file with audio.

What happens is that the music will sound as if it is getting "stuck" on one note or passage. It sounds distorted. It may pass quickly, but then will happen again ten-thirty minutes later, even if I stop and later restart the audio file (or stream). Once it recurs, I end up with this message in Event Viewer (System):

Event 9: The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0, did not respond within the timeout period.

If I don't stop the audio immediately, the distorted and very discordant "stuck" audio continues, leading to a series of Event 9's before I can stop the player. But about every other time that happens, I *can't* stop the player; instead the computer freezes up (sometimes going to a BSOD), and when I restart I find that I now also have a series of bad block errors on a previously clean drive (usually 2 bad clusters).

So I end up replacing the drive, but then a month or two later the... Read more

A:Strictly Audio-Related Serious Event 9 Errors (The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort0...)

The audio is just a coincidence, not a symptom.

Bad sectors are a sign of a hardware issue with the HDD. Software won't cause bad sectors on a HDD. I'd suspect a bad HDD. If you have replaced the HDD multiple times, then there is an underlying hardware issue (ie: motherboard/controller issue or power).

Also, if you have to "whack" anything, there is a hardware issue. It's typically a sign of a loose of faulty connection. Otherwise "whacking" it wouldn't do anything.

Hey so it all started when I started receiving AHCI Port0 error when I turned on my pc, everything seemed find but I wanted to fix it so I checked different forums and now I think I broke my pc
I first reformatted my pc thinking it would fix the error showing up but it didn't, my pc worked fine but it was just the error that annoyed me and I just wanted to fix it

Then I checked forums online and people were talking about deleting and recreating raid array volumes, so I deleted raid array 1 and 0 and re made it as raid array0. it said it wouldn't delete the recovery partition on my hard drive and hopefully it hasn't because I thought that I can just reformat after I create the new array

This pic is when I was deleting the arrays
This pic is when I recreated the array
But now when I boot up my pc I still get this error
Which leads me to the bios when I press f2
When I exit out of bios I get this new error
Edit: When I press f12 when the system starts up with the dell logo I get this not sure what to do now
Now I can't even access windows or anything can someone please help? The pc is a Dell XPS 8100 if that helps

A:Solved: An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operati

The indicated solution of creating a virtual paging file for the WD MyBook drive did not correct the problem. The problem resides in the IEEE 1394 (firewire) driver. Do the following (quoted from http://social.answers.microsoft.com...e/thread/42085c5a-4f15-4dcd-8a76-9a7860b526c2) to correct the problem stated above:

"Update to my previous post. I updated my IEEE 1394 (Firewire) controller driver from "LSI 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller" (1934ohci.sys ver 6.1.7600.16385 stock driver from Windows 7 64-bit) to "1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller (Legacy)" (ochi1394.sys and 1394 bus.sys ver 6.1.7600.16385 also stock from Windows 7 64-bit).
This change seems to have resolved this issues described in my previous post in this thread. My external Firewire disk works normally now (no longer slow during large transfers) and the Warning ID=51 has not recurred (after two days).

To accomplish this driver change, here are instructions:

I backup 3 boxes to this external drive, starting at 8:00 p.m., and allow 2 hours for each backup. I haven't gone back in the event viewer to see exactly when this started, but I get this message now at the times those backup routines start.

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk2\DR4 during a paging operation

There is only 1 internal drive in the server and it is HardDisk1. Number 2 is this Seagate FreeAgent USB drive.

Anyone have any ideas as to what that message really means? I can manually copy data to it and erase data from it.

I have noticed however; that some of my backups aren't executing at times on those 3 other boxes for what ever reason.

I'm wondering if this drive is going into a hibernation routine or something like that....

Thoughts?

TIA

An error was detected on device\Device\harddisk1\D during a paging operation. This is logged frequently in my event viewer. Somtimes it is with "harddisk 2" . Is this my harddrive beginning to fail or is it an error with the external harddrive attached to my PC?

I am having an issue where my DVD/CD RW has a code 19 error in device manager. The drive still works as I used it to boot a Windows CD and run a startup repair to see if that found anything. I tried uninstalling the drive and then scanning and it failed to install the drive. I also tried uninstalling the drive and rebooting, but it wouldn't install. Any suggestions?

I upgraded to Windows 10 a while back. Every time I open the computer I get a pop-up notification telling me the USB device is unrecognized. I have no USB devices in any of my 3 USB ports.
I sent my computer in twice. No help. They just uninstalled everything and reinstalled everything and told me it should be fixed. It is not. I then went about updating every driver in my Device Manager. I uninstalled the Unknown USB Device and then updated
other drivers. Certain drivers (such as PCI Express Root Port #3 - 9C14) when updating would also reinstall the Unknown USB Device, which I would then uninstall and keep working down the list. At the end of updating EVERYTHING I scanned for hardware changes
and "found" the Unknown USB Device.
From what I can tell, and I know very little about this stuff, my computer can't name one of my USB ports. Since it can't figure out what it's called it can't download the proper driver for it. Since it can't download the proper driver it can't work properly.
The practical result from this is that one of my three USB ports does nothing when I put in any USB item (connect my android phone, thumb drive, presentation clicker, etc).
I've looked on tons of forums. My current thought is that if I can tell my computer what the deice is or download the right driver and tell my computer to use that driver for this device it should solve my issue. But I don't know how to know what the name
of the USB port should be (I imagine it woul... Read more

Hey
I ve had a problem with the internet so I decided (foolish decision) to remove the network adapter s driver (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller). After I removed and connected the wire to the pc it shows the adapter in the device manager net adapters list, yet there is a yellow exclamation mark on it. It says error 31 and when I try to reinstall the driver from disk it says it cannot find the driver.

I ve tried to connect my iPhone to the pc and use it as internet, yet there s an error 31 on it too.

What can I do? It happened few days after I cleaned my pc with cCleaner, maybe it s related?

Things I tried:
- restarting
- restarting router
- reconnecting the internet wire
- installing the driver from CD and from the folder

Nothing works... Please help, I'm hopeless

Hello from London, and thank you in advance for any advice that helps save my life.

I recently upgraded a Dell Latitude E6400 (old, I know) to Windows 10 and (eventually) optimized for performance. Since the HDD in this laptop is only 75GB I stored most of my data on a Seagate 210GB USB2.0 drive. It was working perfectly for the year I've had it (and the two weeks since Windows10 install) and then a few days ago it can no longer be read by either of my two laptops (the other running Win7).

Device manager shows the drive, but it doesn't show up in This PC. I had also pinned it to the start menu and Quick Access. It has disappeared from the start menu and has a ? in front of the old drive allocation in Quick Access.

Summary of properties by tab:

1. General - Seagate USB 2.0 Cable USB Device / Device Status - This device is working properly

Status Not initialized

4. Driver - tried uninstalling and reinstalling, reinstalls most current driver each time but with same error (Event ID 441/Kernel-PnP)

Bad news first: Your USB hard disk has a damaged partition record and so Windows cannot identify the structure of data in it.

Good news: There are recovery programs that bypass the partition information and search the disk sector-by-sector. After a rather lengthy process they show you a file tree with your data and then you can copy them to another disk. Yes, for obvious reasons they do not allow copying to the same disk, even if you have two or more partitions on it. You will need another disk with enough space for the backup. If you have or can borrow a second computer with enough disk space, you can extract the files there, then format your USB disk and copy the files back. There are many recovery tools for that if you do a little Google research. I use the GetDataBack which unfortunately have to register to be fully working. The unregistered version only shows the files but doesn't allow you to copy them! Probably there are free tools too, sorry I cannot suggest any right now.

I recently discovered this event error dated 10/18/2013 which is about the time that I upgraded the BIOS and attempted to enable Secure Boot. Enabling Secure Boot worked as far as Windows 8.1 is concerned - eliminated watermark and Secure Boot event errors but the system boot process displayed NO VIDEO during POST and there were 6 beeps and power light flashed 6 times. HP Boot error codes indicates a problem with the video card (AMD Radeon HD 7500). If Secure Boot is turned off, everything works fine. I would like to understand why this event error was reported and how to correct the issue. Is the video hardware not compatible with UEFI and Secure Boot? Did keys get lost that allows Secure Boot to validate this hardware get removed? Although I am happy without Secure Boot, I would like the decision to use Secure Boot to be mine and not because something isn't working correctly.

A:Kernel-PnP Event 420 - PCI Device was Deleted

If Secure Boot is turned off, everything works fine.

It may be due your video card not supporting the GOP protocol which is a requirement for UEFI Secure Boot to function properly. Your graphics card may require a firmware/bios update so check with your manufacturer to see if one is available. You can also try to disable "ultra-fast boot" if enabled in the UEFI BIOS as I am not certain about all of the GOP requirements.

FYI here's are articles on a few manufacturers' progress to make these updates available:

Hope this points you in the right direction. Good luck.

I'm not sure where to put this. I have windows 7 and when I plug my Sansa Fuze into it, the device home page comes up. My problem is, I change the device name to a custom name and it changes in here as well as Media player, but when I disconnect it and re-connect it, the name resets to the factory name. What am I doing wrong. There is no safely disconnect option for the fuze. Can I rename it, so it actually stays?

Windows 7 has been making the device disconnect sound and then the re-connect sound shortly after at a random interval. This has only happened today and I've tied it to Event ID 7036 in Event Viewer. I opened event viewer and refreshed when I heard the sound and checked for differences. There is an Event ID 7036 at the same time as the sound in every case. Each has the description "The Multimedia Class Scheduler Service entered the running/stopped state." What could cause this and why?

Recent hardware changes: plugged in multi-card reader, external hard drive has been plugged in for weeks. I've unplugged the card reader in the meantime to see if that was it. There have been no "device disconnected" bubbles or notifications connected with the noise.

Hi, i am having trouble connecting my camera to my PC. It works perfectly on another PC running windows 8.1 pro the same as mine. I open device manager and my device is listed under other devices as canon digital camera, though it has an exclamation mark on it.

In the properties under the general tab I see this

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There are no compatible drivers for this device.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

I have tried un-installing the device, rebooting my machine and downloading the drivers from canon (it's an 1100D).

i have tired copying the files that show in the events tab on the other pc and manually install them but I get the following message "Windows encountered a Problem installing the driver for you device, MTP USB Device". Now something that seems weird to me is that my phone has also stopped working as an MTP device though there is no obvious driver issues with it.

everytime i plug in my usb microphone, or my usb webcam into a different usb port than where the device was before, windows gives it a new number that i can see in options.

here is what i mean:

the number 3 next to the micrphone means that it is the 3rd different usb port on my computer that i connected that mic to. when i bought the mic first and plugged it into a front usb port for the first time, there was no number there. then i unplugged it and plugged it into a usb port on teh back of my computer and it gave it the number 2. then i plugged it into another usb port on the back and it gave it the number 3 etc etc. this happens with lots of usb devices that i hook up.

how can i reset all those numbers to make it so that there would be no numbers displayed before the name of the device?

I have been wanting to find a way to reset windows 7 so when I plug in a device into a particular USB port it detects it as though for the very first time (installing device drivers message etc). Disabling or uninstalling drivers do not seem to instigate a 'new device routine'. Any ways of doing this?

The reason I am requesting this is due to a curious issue that I am trying to fix more out of fascination than anything. I have discovered that if I plug in a particular mouse on one particular USB port on one particular installation of Windows 7 (I have another install on a seperate drive for testing), the 'Allow this device to wake computer' tick box makes no difference (ticked or not the mouse click always wakes computer). After extensive testing, its only when that mouse is plugged into that usb port on just one particular installation of windows 7. I was hoping to try resetting windows so it detects that mouse as if for the very first time. Any ideas?

Hello! I have a PC I assembled last June. After I loaded it up with my applications and connected my devices I began getting device disconnect sounds as well as a few device connect sounds. I've been troubleshooting by disconnecting all devices then adding devices back one at a time to try to find the culprit. I'm not getting consistent or convincing results so far, but will keep working on that approach.

A Web search on the subject returns lots of results where users are experiencing these sounds. Answers are sparse. And antagonizing! I have not found any hints as to how to extract from the system what is actually happening. What I am looking for is if anybody knows where in the system I can find a log that records device connect/disconnect events associated with these sounds. Anybody have a clue?

A:How to find Device Disconnect event in Win7 logs?

Dave

The best place to start is in event viewer. You want to do whatever you need to cause the problem and look in event viewer around that time.

There are several ways to find what the problem is. The best is to go into event viewer (type eventvwr in search). Event viewer (local) and look for the critical errors listed in the last day, week, etc. Then go to the windows log>application tab. Finally the windows Logs>system tabs.

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ). If nothing critical is related to the problem keep looking it is there.

When you find them please note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.
