How to set a Proxy to access from a chat client/server

Q: How to set a Proxy to access from a chat client/server

I would like to ask the community of these Forums for help to set my Desktop computer running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit to access chat programs that I have dowloaded from the Web and have installed on my PC.
My browser is Firefox 3.6.9 but i am unsure if the browser is involved in this.

Anyways, I do get in my e-mail a fresh daily list of free proxies to use to connect to the web, so given that I first have to open the program from icons that i already have on my Desktop ...
does anyone know how to set things so when I open them they would show -to anyone who wants to monitor(chat users and server owners on the other end)- the IP, geographic location and/or name of Internet Service Provider of the Proxy address itself and not MY OWN IP, location and ISP (as it happens now without the use of a proxy)?

Should anyone would like to take a peek at those 3 chat places before responding they are:

A. Halsoft Chat: www.vpchat.com

B. Yak Chat: www.yackity-yak.com/
Install Instruction (to exemplify how they exist on my PC now)
1.. Download to desktop.
2.. Then go to desktop and Install the client.
3.. The Client will install to its on folder.
4.. Will not in any way hurt any other client u may have.

C. Voodoo Chat: www.voodoochat.com

My need for privacy is based on peace of mind, and has no intention of masking any illegal activity. It has an honest purpose.

I would now appreciate to receive responses from knowledgeable person/s and/or those who may have succeeded in making the computer work the way i would like it to access these places.
I have already tried setting Firefox to access via a proxy but that by itself did not work, so I concluded that there must be more than just the browser to be set.

I hope that now someone can come up with a 'Yes Way Jose'... this is how to do it..

Thank you kindly.

Jose Carioca

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I need some expertise "know how" in this matter. I have an office in location A and another office in location B.
A is protected by Firewall-1 Checkpoint and running Exchange 5.5 mail system. Point B is using Proxy Server 1.1 and Exchange 5.5.
Office A is the HQ and Office B is the branch. I need to sync the Exchange for these 2 offices. How do I go about doing it?
I intend to use only VPN remote client access to login users from Location B to Location A. By doing so, I dun think I sync my Exchange on both end but at least I can control those those login in via VPN.
Ideas/advices much appreciated.

I hope I am in the right area here as I believe this is a Norton problem
At random times I get the following message while running M$ internet explorer.
"Common client network proxy server has encountered a problem and needs to close" it then apologizes for the inconvenience. I did have this problem a few months ago and I was directed to uncheck the box that states "Use a proxy server for this connection" (Tools - Internet options - connections - settings) I did this and the problem stopped, but now it is back and the box is still unchecked. I cannot find anything else that seems to sort the problem.

When looking at the information that is sent to Microsoft I have the following information.

Error Signature
OFFSET 0000159b

Files included in the report back to M$

These files I believe are associated with Norton.
If anyone could give me some advice I would be grateful as it is driving me potty because you have to close down after it occurs.

This problem is absolutely baffling. Prior to 2 days ago, I was using Trillian Basic as a chat client for AIM and YIM. It would no longer connect to those networks. So I reinstalled it from the latest installer on ceruleanstudios.com. But after that, whenever I tried to connect my network connection would go dead, I couldn't start any other applications and CTRL+ALT+DEL was not working at all. The only thing I can do is perform a hard reboot at this point.

I thought that it might just be a problem with Trillian, so I installed Gaim, Miranda, BeeNut, Yahoo Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger. All of these produced the SAME result! No other applications that access my LAN connection exhibit this behavior. Only chat clients.

I'm running ZoneAlarm as a firewall. I tried disabling it, but that didn't work. I thought that I might have a virus, but scans with ZoneAlarm, NOD32 and EZ Trust produced no results. I also did spyware scans with AdAware and SpyBot, but those also produced no results - a clean system.

I've googled for this problem but can't find anything that comes close. Can anyone help?

My setup is well wired up, no question there. I'm (trying to)install Proxy Server 2.0 on NT4 Server (to which I added service pack 4 & Option Pack 4). The server has two NIC's, one to the LAN and one to the WAN. The hardware (router, hub, cables) works, that's for sure. I got my DNS addresses all written out, both NIC's configured, no WINS server, backlog of addresses entered from to 254... The Internet connection does work, the DHCP is in the router, the NIC on the inside gets its IP adress no problem upon booting, the other one I assigned one to it... I don't get it, and this is just not getting done.
Thank you

A:Proxy server can't access internet

What is the error message when you try to ping a site on the WAN? Are the DNS servers internal or external, and, if external, can you ping them by numeric address? Can you run a traceroute anywhere? Can you ping the addie of the NIC-WAN card? It sounds like you may well have tried these, but it certainly helps for us to know what you have and haven't done so we can help ya. Let us know!

i am unable to access the Internet without the use of a proxy server(spotflux).
When I try to do so, the browser gives the following error DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG or says that the network has been changed.
I've tried resetting the router, rebooting the computer etc. but that doesn't seem to work.
I've also ran malware bytes but that didnt fix the problem either.

Over the last year a co-worker and I have been developing a complex Job-Costing system in a Microsoft Access Database (4.0). It is a 50 Meg file that is on our Server. The problem is that only one person can Access the Database at a time. This is going to be hell when we accually release this to the other 15 people is the office. I have experimented with an access 2000 Project (MSDE Client/Server) but I dont think it is the option for our office. I was wondering what was needed to make our database multi-user. It says it can handle up to 255 multiple users, and 1 user is far from that limit.
Please give me all the information you can. Thanks.

I appear to be the victim of some piece of malware or virus that has added a proxy server setting that I am unable to get rid of. The main symptoms are that I am unable to change my proxy server settings in Windows 10. It appears to use this setting http=;. The result of this is that I am unable to do searches in the omnibar of Google Chrome (just takes me to a blank page) and I can't visit certain webpages, also if I am able to do a Google search the "Search Tools" button is missing.
I looked around on the internet and have tried a few fixes, I've deleted or changed the registry entries mentioned in Philip Turner's reply here: https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/446898-can-t-disable-proxy-in-ie10?page=1
I also changed the entry mentioned here: https://fixedit.itxpress.biz/2014/10/08/unable-to-disable-windows-proxy-setting/
Making these changes allowed me to change the proxy server settings and once I change "Automatically detect settings" to on and "Use a a proxy server" to off then the issue is fixed and everything behaves normally.
The problem is, once I restart my computer the settings revert back and are again unable to be changed unless I delete/change all the above registry entries again. I'm pretty sure that whatever did this is still on my computer somewhere and I need some help finding and eliminating it. Either that, or there is still some hidden registry entry that I am unable to find.

Hello! I am my company's Network Administrator, but I am not very familiar with Proxy-Server (Microsoft, V1.1) which we use as a "firewall". I've been fooling around with it a bit, but here is all I want to do:
I (the admin) would like full Internet Access. We don't block sites or IP's, but I can't connect to things like (here's an example) http://www.exite.com/games )
I can connect, but when the java applet attempts to load, it says it cannot connect.

Same for applications like Napster, or other programs like that where you have to get a connection to the internet to run it.

(Now, don't think I sit around playing games at work and downloading stuff- I need to do some on-line classes for my accounting software and the same thing keeps happening, but I thought I would use a familiar example or two.)

I am using Microsoft Proxy Server V 1.1 on an NT server and a Windows 98 client machine. I connect through a proxy server setting (company name, port 80). I am using a cable modem, which is run directly into the server.
I tried going into the security settings and granting myself full permission, but it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas??

Hi Team,

I plan to get a mac mini. I would like to have direct access to the machine remotely, just like i did when i connected my laptop pc to my desktop pc via VNC.

My specific question :- is it possible to access the mac via a remote client so that it opens in a window on a Win7 64bit I7 pc?

I ultimately want to control the mac desktop via my win7 pc, mouse and keyboard.

Thanks in advance.

A:Remote Access to Mac mini via VNC client/server

Why wouldn't you just install VNC on your new Mac machine, allowing it to be controlled from the PC?

The product itself is cross-platform.

There are downloads for each host and each client environment.

I'm not a Mac person and only use VNC for Windows hosts and clients. But the product's description certainly shows it as being intended to be cross-platform capable.

I am having a very frustrating problem with unauthorized and silent/secret access of my computer. No matter what operating system I install, I am always setup as a client, and someone immediately gains access and control over my entire system. I become unable and authorized to make changes that will prevent or stop this access. I have tried making a windows 7 lite version myself, but either I do not eliminate the correct services or features that I need to, or I eliminate too much and the system does not work correctly or install at all. I do not know anything about group policy, or the snap ins, or the management console, where I know is the solution. I have tried, but while I make changes, they are reverted immediately back, and I am locked out, or lose access to those settings, or my system is shutdown remotely and it locks up, or I screw the system up and it won't boot. I am hoping someone here knows how to eliminate all possibilities, back doors, tunnels, pipes, blue tooth access, remote access, remote assistance, and or any and all third party access to my machine etc. that will permanently disallow and deny any and all remote access, remote desktop, remote assistance, Bluetooth access to my pc except for myself- one user, one log in. I hope this is the correct place to request that sort of thing on here. Or if there is one setting I can change, or service/process I can change, disable or eliminate, to stop this once and forever, I would be greatly appreciative. When I ... Read more

Dear all
i am trying to separate the front and back end of my access database . so that the tables are placed at one separate location and the .mde files can be distributed to users .
BUT the problem is that,

1) i dont know how to build this server/client stuff.
2) how can i make my .mde file (which at the moment is accessing data from its own tables) fetch data from another computer on the network.
for instance lets take the northwind database , it takes data from its own tables. what are the modifications which i can apply to it.

A:access front and backend separation, server client development

That's an easy one

(although this isn't strictly speaking client/server design, but its what you're asking for, and something I've done before)

1) Create a network location that everyone who needs to access the database can access in the same way (i.e. the same drive letter)
2) Create a copy of your database in that location
3) Delete all queries, forms, macros, reports etc from the "back-end" database copy
4) Delete all the tables from your "front-end" database copy
5) Create table links in your "front-end" database to the "back-end" (In Access 2007, this is "External data" \ "Access" \ "Link to the datasource"... in Access 2003 its on the file menu I think "File \ get external data \ link tables"

That'll get you the "front-end" \ "back-end" split, then to create an MDE file you just need to go to "Database tools \ Make MDE" and save this and send it to your users.

I read a post that referred to all of the old ICQ client programs. What a find. When I was using ICQ client I sure would have like to go back to version 99a. Before is became clumbsy. I found a program several years ago that eliminated the need for several chat clients. I see most members recommend software but this one I don't remember seeing suggested. I use and like Trillian 1.3. It's muti-client interface that is easy to use. It is light on resources. The basic version is free. AIM, YIM, ICQ, MSN, and IRC are all supported. As you can see at the bottom of this post I use all of them. Some for work, some for friends, and family. Trillian does not have pop-ups and/or spy-ware. It will even let you know when you have mail. I am currently running it under Windows 98se, ME, and XP Pro on six of the family computers at my home. I have not found one instance of it causing a conflict or crash with any of my Windows products. I believe it to be a safe and stable alternative to the single service clients. If any of you have used this product please post your experience (good or bad). If you know of any similar product please tell us about them. acklan

After I replaced the hd and loaded NT back up I called the ISP so they could coach me throught he installation of the Proxy / Firewall. The people at the ISP refused to help me over the phone so I had to pay them $450 to have a someone come here to do the installation. After the new install (a few days later)I realized that our clients weren't able to connect to aol instant messenger. It gives me an error pertaining to the port being unavailable. So I called aol and they told me they do not support Windows NT. So now I am trying to get a financial chat room up and running for a client on his workstation and i am getting the same error dealing with a port being closed or disabled. The ISP won't help me without me paying another $250. The way i see it is, I wanted the new install to be exactly set up like their initial install, since aol im was working at first and not since the new install i feel they didn't do it right the first time. Anyway, my question is: Does anyone know what i should do in order to get these ports enabled in the Proxy / Firewall so I don't have to pay these thieves for another service call!!!!!! Thank you.

hi guys, i am very new to computers so please excuse me, i have a weird problem. my computer was infected with adware and a proxy loopback virus. i was able to clear the adware, but no luck with the proxy virus. i can use firefox to "surf" but when i try to use any apps from the windows menu or the "E" (enternet) it says cant connect to proxy, and you cant clear it... says" loopback "  honestly is driving me crazy because i really know little to nothing about computers... i have norton anti virus which seems to be total crap. ive used malwarebytes spybot and a few other programs, ive lost count... so i came across this post during a search that uses FRST64, which i downloaded and ran... but i have NO CLUE what all that program info is. i seen that after a few tries with the help of some very patient person on this forum, the issue was resolved... im sure this is posted elsewhere, but i dont know where to search or how to properly use these type forums. So please excuse me for my ignorance to this tech based issue... can someone please help me. walk me thru this or a remote session before i go bananas. thank you

A:i suck at computers and chat rooms and really need help with a walk thru proxy v

By "E" and (enternet) I assume youre talking about internet explorer, sounds like you have the proxy settings enabled....to disable this
open IE
click on the gear (tools) in the top right hand side
go to internet options
click the connection tab
click on lan settings near the bottom
then uncheck (if checked) the option under "proxy server"

i installed ms proxy client on a computer that uses xp service pack 2 and can't get it to work. i changed the Connections settings to auto and off and the HTTP for proxy settings in Internet Explorer browser, but can't get it to work. it's set to dhcp. i played around with different settings. i also turned off all the firewalls. it's strange because the other computers are using the same settings that i tried and they work.

I currently play a few games and use other programs that I need to use a proxy for, but they aren't run directly from the web browser, which is where i use my normal proxy.

I need a free way of protecting the whole pc when I'm connecting online, so when I connect to the internet through the clients I can use a proxy. Thanks much. Please note it has to be free.

A:Proxy Client

I am not quite understanding how you are relating protecting your pc to using a proxy to play games.

There are 3 PCs, 1 is server, other 2 are clients.
1.Server[WIN10] has the shared folder which saved mdb file, and run our application, this application use ODBC to access mdb.[Not use DNS, just use ]
ODBC;DRIVER={MICROSOFT ACCESS DRIVER (*.mdb)};UID=;PWD=;DBQ=C:\DBFile\Formulation.mdb; [C is local driver]
2.Client 1[WIN7] is running our application, use ODBC to access the remote mdb file.[Read and write]
ODBC;DRIVER={MICROSOFT ACCESS DRIVER (*.mdb)};UID=;PWD=;DBQ=Z:\DBFile\Formulation.mdb; [Z is remote driver]
3.Client 2[WIN10] is running our application, use ODBC to access the remote mdb file.[Read and write]
[Z is remote driver]

CRecordset is used in our code to access database, and the application already close connection and reopen connection when the network come back.

The issue is:
Step 1: The Client 1 disconnect network.
Step 2: Add one record into table1.
Step 3: Connect network for Client 1.
The new record can be display by Client 2, but can't be display by Client 1.

If I copy the database file in Client 1 to local driver, then the application can get the new record.
It seems the network driver has some cache bug.

Any one can help me on this issue?
Thanks very much!

This issue is hard to be reproduced, and it seems WIN 10 has no issue, but WIN 7 has this issue.

Hey everyone,I'm new to this whole proxy/bypass thing. So basically I've downloaded this program "Bypass proxy Client v.078". I am using Windows Lite Messenger*, but I can't view webcams - as the ports are blocked. Can anyone tell me how I unlock/bypass these ports using Bypass proxy Client? - I'm very confused.According to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927847, msn messenger uses the following ports:TCP 80 TCP/UDP 5000 - 65535 So I guess Windows Lite Messenger uses the same ones, and these are the ones that need to be opened? Thanks for your help.(*I can't install programs here without Admin rights, hence using Lite Messenger instead of the regular version)

I'm connected to the Web at work through a proxy server. I want to know how to setup thunderbird or Opera mail using that proxy server setting.
I already entered the proxy server setting in the network setting as and port no as 3128.
Still I get a message like cannot contact server at mail.x.com where x is my company name.
What am I doing wrong ? Or i there any other mail client that works with proxies?

Any help would be most appreciated.

My system froze up during a shutdown yesterday and when I hit ctrl-alt-del to end the task it was stuck on I noticed that the program was "client side proxy."

This sounded suspicious to me like something to do with cookies or something so I did a quick google search and found a lot of information on client side proxies but it was too technical for me to make much sense out of.

I am not having any problems that I know of with my system but if anyone can give me a simple explanation of what a client side proxy is supposed to do - and if it is a sign of a virus or something - I would appreciate it. -Dan
