Good deal for this Computer?

Q: Good deal for this Computer?

My parents just got a new Sony Vaio RB Vgc-rb33gy, and they paid around 1k for it. Here are the specs:

1024 Mb DDR Ram (Pc3200)
Ati Radeon X300 128MB Video Card
Dual Layer X16 Dvd Writer

Windows Xp Media Center 2005 w/Service Pack 2 Preintalled
19" Sony LCD w/Dvi Output
Realtek Sound Card
Tv Tuner Card

Do you think that's a good deal?

Preferred Solution: Good deal for this Computer?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Good deal for this Computer?

Two CPU's? That specific computer model(not even on sony's website, which is odd) lists one cpu of the type you posted.

I am really unsure if this is the right section or not, but I really need to know if this is a good laptop and I am getting my moneys worth. Again if this is the wrong section PLEASE move.

BTW: This is a laptop.

I might be purchasing the following for $800, LMK wut u think.

Dell Inspiron 5150 Laptop:

Pentium 4 Processor 3.06 GHZ
Upgraded Liquid Crystal Display with ultra high resolution options
1.25 GB Kingston RAM, upgradable to 2GB
64MB ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility Video Card
60GB Harddrive

So we're looking at basically 1 gig ram, 3GHZ

The whole comp itself is basically upgraded to all ends. The screen does look really nice as it is a liquid display.

The RAM is very high for a laptop and the processor beats the doors off most of the previous comps which I have had (2.39GHZ)

I am getting a laptop because I travel mostly. I also game alot.

I know the video card isnt best for high end games but I play a game called Diablo mostly which requires next to nothing, altho I will replace the video card soon. How much would it cost to upgrade to a decent one do u think?

So I think its a pretty fast system, good deal?

A:Good Deal/Good Comp? (Laptop)

i dont really compare laptop prices but the prices seems pretty good to me. that is one power laptop in my opinion. way faster than mine.

A:Was This A Good Deal?

I dont like laptops so, no you got the better deal IMO, laptops are just for folks who have to bring their computers with them, salesman, engineers, etc., they are expensive, break easily, and are a pain in the arse to fix. They also seem to be something of a status symbol, people parade them around with their noses in the air, that is until a month goes by and their lappie is out of date, the only thing more annoying are cell phone fools, oooh look i have a razor, oooh my is a chocolate, makes me want to puke, you guys have to butch up a bit

A:$200 later was it a good deal?

Yes, you could have received a better deal; say 1 GeForce 7900 or for about $30 dollars more 1 ATI X1900 (which would kill your 2 X1600's). I hope you bought at least 1 crossfire edition card or else they won't work properly together.

My video card is about the only thing not up to spec now in my system. I'm not really a gamer but might start playing every once in a while. I also do some photo/video editing. I came across a few different cards on craigslist. One is a Radeon HD 4850 and the other is a HD 4870, both with 512mb memory. The 4850 is $65 and the 4870 is $85. Would the 4850 be enough since I don't game much, or should I go for the 4870?

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It is a good deal and it will be fine for video editing in my opinion.

In view of the 30% price reduction you might just want to check to see if it's one of Dell's refurbished machines.

If you decide to buy it you could fit an SSD drive with the money you've saved and put the operating system on it - you'll get a huge speed boost with what is already good specs.

Thank you for reading.

I need to get two desktops for a new office I am opening and I am on a budget.
My uses are super-basic; most of what i do is in the cloud, I have one local CRM (that is fairly RAM-light) and otherwise just web browsing.

The deal is for two Dell Optiplex Refurbs, each with the following ($650 per):

-Intel Core i7-4790 Quad @ 3.6GHz
-DVD-RW Drive (DVD and CD burner)
- Intel integrated Graphics
-256 GB SSD (Solid State Drive)
-Windows 7 Professional SP1, 32-bit
-10 USB 2.0 ports (6 back, 4 front)
-Gigabit Ethernet port
-VGA port
-Audio out/line in ports

Any thoughts/advice is greatly appreciated.

A:Is this is a good deal?

For "super-basic" purposes, a 4790 is way overkill. That's a powerhouse processor.

No problem if it's within your budget, but you might be better served by distributing the 650 differently---less to the CPU and more to something else--monitor, larger storage drive, software upgrade, whatever.

Hi Guys wasnt sure where to put this. (so Mods please move to the right section)

Im buying my first PC. I know a little about computers to get by.

But wondering if this was a good deal?

I wanted a computer i can play through my TV. So i was thinking a home media center would be a good option.

which lead me too........

the main specs were.

640GB HDD, 4GB Ram, 3.2GHZ. (Does this computer come with HD?)

Operating System Genuine Windows? 7 Home Premium

Now i would have to buy a remote for the PC, so i can work it like a normal DVD player, also a wireless keyboard and mouse, a cord so i can record from my TV to the media center. Im need big on gaming, so that dosent really bother me. Id like it to have good graphics when i play a movie e.t.c. also need it to have wireless.

I was told $800 for the home media center alone.

Is HP Pavilion Slimline Desktop PC. Comes with 1 TB HDD, 6 GB RAM, i think it was 3.2GHZ? could be wrong (might be more) comes with wireless mouse, keyboard, and wireless internet connection. HD. Cables e.t.c.

Theres a bit of a difference, and i will alow the money if it will work out for me in the long run.

Can anyone explain to me the difference in simple plan english lol.

My tv isnt HD but i want a HD computer cause i will upgrade TV's eventually.

It's being sold for $300, is it worth it?

A:Is this a good deal?

You're not really posting much info. Is $300 the base configuration?

There's quite a few factors that will determine if it's worth it..
1. What motherboard?
2. What brand/wattage power supply?
3. What video card?

I could build a system with a pcchips or machspeed KT400 based board w/integrated video, a 2200+ cpu, a cheapo power supply, with a cheapo cdrw and sell for less, and it would be junk to me....

Although, if the system included a halfway decent vid card, a nforce2 based board, and a quality power supply it'd be worth it.

Yep very good deal, if you are just going to use the computer for routine software, etc. It is not adequate for a first class gaming machine.
It was not that long ago that it was the best CPU out there for the money.
Be sure you have access to a working motherboard for it. Fans, thermal paste, and heat sinks need to be researched so you know your total cost.

A:Do you think I got a good deal?

Yeh, that is a decent buy. 4 gigs of RAM and Vista will cost you that. Unfortunately if it came with Vista it probably came with all the crap software that came with whatever brand it is. What is it a Compaq or an HP?

If it is a Compaq/HP, one thing I'd suggest you do in the future is put the whole system in a different case, those things are so cramped the chances of getting decent airflow are 0%.

The 7300 is a fairly low end card for Vista's Aero. It should do it, but don't complain if Vista's GUI is slightly sluggish. The good news on that is that cards like a 9600GT are incredibly cheap now and will fly through Aero and almost any game out there.

I wouldn't buy it for 450$.

i3 (and you didn't mention specifically which one either), is an entry-level CPU to begin with.

Gtx 750 Ti is also an "entry-level" graphics card.

If you just wanted it for YouTube it will be fine.

But nothing hardcore by any means.

It would help if we knew exactly which i3 it has and what KIND of DDR3 RAM, like the speed and brand.

HI! I'm looking to buy a laptop. I've been checking out all the deal and bargain sites through google. I came across a few sites with the same prices, but they are wholesale prices from China. Here's a link to one of them.

Even though it's says wholesale, you can purchase just one. I've looked at many laptops on this site, and I like this one:

Gateway NV53A82u LX.WM802.029 Notebook PC - AMD Phenom II Dual-Core N660 3.0GHz, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HDD, DVDRW, ATI Radeon HD 4250, 15.6" Display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, Blue

From what I glean from the site, they do drop shipping, and charge $30 shipping. I'm not completely sure what drop shipping is, and do you have to pay tariffs? Is this a good place to get a laptop? Also, reading reviews on the gateway, the only con is that it runs hot. A friend said this is no problem as all laptops run hot, and I can get a laptop heat pad to remedy this situation. If that is so, any recommendations on a heat pad? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hey everyone.
I have been looking for graphics cards for a while now, since the one I currently have is not that good. I have been keeping an eye on this video card for a while now.

Is it a good deal? I've Googled reviews for it and it pretty much rounds the edges between Mainstream and Gamer in nVidia's 7xxx series, and performs pretty damn well in benchmarks given its price.
The only bad thing would be its 12 pixel pipelines(a bit short of extreme gamer) and its 128-bit memory interface.

I think it is the best bang for the buck, and this price is the lowest it has been in the last few months.

At under $200 (under $150 in this case), it's a pretty sweet deal, right?

Please tell me what you think.

A:Good deal on cpu case?

Nice case, but Newegg has it for the same price:

Actually less if you take advantage of the rebate.

EDIT: And Newegg's even has a window in the side.

I have received quotes from Dell for both the Inspiron 6400 & 9400, specs as follows. Do you think they are good deals for the specs??

2048 MB ram

ATI Radeon X1400 graphics card
Vista Ultimate OS
Free Inkjet Printer all in one 926

Am undecided which model to go for, really comes down to the screen size. Don't do gaming so the graphics card is not an issue. Will be buying as an investment for the next 4 years, can anyone advise?

A:Good deal from Dell?

What will be its primary intended use? I know you said not gaming but will you be carrying it around a lot or taking it on plane trips or using it mostly in one place, etc. The more you have to haul it around the larger laptop might be less convenient, especially if you are sitting on a plane trying to use it. On the other hand if you are using it almost as a desktop and not moving it much, the larger screen would make more sense.

Hey guys
This is my first post so please be nice to me. I came across with this $999 DV6 Core i7 laptop @ kingwork.com.au. I am looking for high-end laptops and it seems that this is quite good and fits my budget. Do you guys have any thought on this or similar laptops with lower price ? Not very keen on sandy bridge models though. Any advice are appreciated. Thanks mate.

thinking of getting this for my brother. his pc is 9 yrs old... this one has to be faster/better than what he has now. he's got a inspiron 531/dell....

A:refurbished pc. is this a good deal?

Looks like a decent deal to me and as you say, it HAS to be better/faster than what he already has. According to Crucial you'll max out at 4 gigs of RAM so you can add 2 more.
