Q: How to export Windows Live Mail to other Webmail account

Is it possible to move email messages out of Windows Live Mail and import them to a Webmail account, such as Telus.net?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an Windows (Vista) notebook with outlook 2007, and now I have an new notebook with Windows 8.1. Where I want to export my mail & contact to Windows live mail, how can I import this in WLM on my other notebook?

I already have configure my mail on WLM where I can receive and send messages. I tried something with the program Mailstore 8 but my mail is now on another computer.

I also find this link: how to export mail, calendar contact in outlook to windows live mail clientWith the "Outlook Conversion Application" solution but is this possible on different computers and has WLM an import function?

A:Export mail and contacts from Outlook 2007 to Windows live mail 2012?

Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?

Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.

What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.

PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.

I'm trying to transfer my Windows Live Mail e-mail contacts to Hotmail. I've converted them all to a csv file (5.65kb). When I import them to Hotmail only the names get transferred.....not the e-mail addresses. Any ideas? Thanks

A:Export E-mail contacts from Windows Live Mail to Hotmail

Windows Live Mail is Hotmail, with a new look. So I am confused as to what you are trying to do.
It sounds like you created a whole new name for Windows Live Mail... you didn't need to do that.

If you just open Windows Live Mail and logon as the HotMail name you will see all of the contacts.

This thread was previously closed due to lack of answers, however I found a solution.

When importing a csv file into Hotmail, the email address field is expected as "E-mail Address" however in the csv file created by Windows Live Mail the email address field is "Email Address".

Note the missing hyphen. This means that the email address is not transferred over to Hotmail.

The solution is to edit the csv file using Notepad - simply add the hyphen to the top line of the csv file, save the file and import it into Hotmail.

If you have the same problem with other fields, a useful test to see what field names Hotmail expects is to export a contact from Hotmail and then inspect the csv file which is created using Notepad.

On March 21st my Windows Live Mail stopped retrieving email from my CenturyLink email account and started giving a message that it can't send or receive mail due to an unknown error and it shows error Id 0x80004005.

I've tried setting my account details to those on my wife's laptop which is still receiving emails (although it also pops a similar error message) and I've been able to send emails from my laptop but still can't recieve them there. I've also spent hours on the phone with CenturyLink tech folks who have each suggested different settings in server names and ports, none of which have worked, and who finally suggested calling another phone number which turned out to be a subscription only PC fix-it site.

I've uninstalled Wundows Live Mail and deleted any left over Windows Mail folders left in the Program files and Program(x86) files and reinstalled WinLiveMail using a newly downloaded wlsetup-web.exe Windows Essentials installer, and I am back to exactly the same WinLiveMail situation not retrieving email and popping the same error message copied below.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Phil's Email account. An unknown error has occurred.
Server: 'pop.centurytel.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x80004005
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No

Any help to get WLM to retrieve emails again will be greatly appreciated. CenturyLink has been no help so far.

I am using Windows Live mail in Windows 7. I want to reinstall Windows 7. Obviously I want to preserve all my contact e mail addresses. I have tried to export them to a memory stick which worked OK. Hoever, the addresses were save in Xcell form. I will not be installing Office this time because I only have version 2000, which does not run very well. How can I save in straightforward text form which is useable?

A:Windows live mail export

Hi andsome, I suggest getting a Windows Live ID by creating a Hotmail dot Com account, use it to sign in to Windows live Mail. Export your contacts in .csv format then import to new account. Now you will never lose them. If using other account/s, it/they can be added to WLM, use POP to access them if possible. You can delete the Hotmail account if you want.
P.S. I'm using WLM last release version of 2009, its far superior than the latest version. I have a copy if you want it.

I installed Windows Live Mail over an existing Windows Mail on my Vista laptop and that went fine and I was able to import the old contacts. But now I want to export those same contacts to Windows Live Mail on another (XP) laptop but I can't find a way to do it. There doesn't seem to be any way to transfer, save, or backup Windows Live Mail contacts. I was thinking I should be able to save the file then copy it over my network to the other computer but I can't find it. Anyone know how to do this?

A:Export Windows Live Mail contacts??

From the lack of responses I have to conclude that there really is no easy way to transfer Windows Live Mail address book contacts from one computer to another?? Hard to believe.....

I did find one way... convert the old addresses in from Win Mail to a vcard format. But those can only be imported one at a time. Not a good option.

There HAS to be a better way, I hope....

Hi New Member here posting his first question, can you help please?

I wish to transfer the messages in my WLMail on my pc to my WLMail on my laptop.

I have already set up my email accounts on my laptop so just need advice on how to get the messages across.

Thank you in advance.

A:Windows Live Mail Export/Import

Windows Mail has an "export" function and you can save the file to Desktop, transfer to USB drive or CD/DVD and then "import" that file to the other computer.

This will work for Contacts and Mail, but I've not been able to get the Message Rules to transfer over easily.

However, I DID find the registry entries where the Message Rules are stored and I transfered those over, but WM ran VERY buggy afterwards, and I would not recommend trying it.

Friends
I've given up fighting Windows Live Mail [the client-side version] many bugs and have moved on. But I need to get the Contacts, and then the folders/Messages. Every time I attempt a .CSV Export of the Contacts WLM crashes [hangs, spins up CPU, does not resolve itself]. Anyone know the cause or cure for this?

Failing a cure of this yet-another-bug, where is the Contacts store? Anyone know its file Extension? how to safely copy until I can figure out how to extract and use?

Apparently WLM does not like any copies of OE on a system... it monkeys with Outlook Express system files when it cranks up - I guess they share stuff under the hood?.. dunno. Attempts to get answers to these various issues on "Microsoft Answer" are time-wasted, in my experience.

Hi,

Please note that this is not Windows Live (Hotmail) but the offline Windows application with that name. I find Windows Live Mail as a great way to manage my email, I want to manage my contacts there too. However, all my contacts are currently loaded on my iPhone (I have the contacts manually created on the phone a long time ago).

Thanks for your suggestions.

A:How to export iPhone contacts to Windows Live Mail?

If you want to directly export the contacts use a small application intended to run on your PC called CopyTrans Contacts.

1. Run the tool on your computer and connect your iPhone. You can download the program from here: export iPhone contacts

2. Once your iPhone contacts appear, drag and drop a selection to a folder on your PC

3. Select the type of contact files you wish your iPhone contacts to get exported in. Windows Live Mail recognizes Windows Contacts, so select that format

4. Your iPhone contacts will be saved to your PC. Now go to your Windows Live Mail application and import the contacts from the folder on your PC where you saved them in

I'm working on a laptop with Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail 2012 is not exporting email properly.

There are 4,008 messages in the Inbox folder but the export function will only copy out ONE message. A web search finds that this function of WLM 2012 is very badly broken and apparently Microsoft is not going to fix it. No difference in its dysfunction if it's set to work offline.

Exporting from Outlook then into WLM worked fine, but WLM can only (not) export to WLM and Exchange, which requires being on a network with an Exchange server.

A:How do I get Windows Live Mail 2012 export to work?

Open the blue File menu
Select Export email > Email messagesSelect Microsoft Windows Live MailChose the export destination folder, [Make New Folder] is a bit tricky, the Folder: field doesn't always automatically get updated, I just click on the folder above it, then click on the folder I created. As long as both the highlighted folder and the name of the folder in the Folder: filed match, you're good to go.
Press [OK]Make sure the radio button All folders is the active selection.
Press [Next]The export should begin and every eMail message should be in the destination folder you chose.

Hi,

I am currently replacing my old computer with a new one and part of that process is to transfer all of my email messages from my old computer to the new one. I use Windows Live Mail for my mail program. I went to the Microsoft web site and looked at the Help instructions for  Exporting and Importing messages and found it to be very straightforward.

I created an empty folder on USB drive and then proceeded to run the Export procedure. This involved selecting a destination folder for the exported files, and selecting which folders to include in the export operation. Under my primary email address, I have 10 subfolders, in addition to the usual Inbox, Sent Items, Deleted Items, etc. On the screen where I was asked what format I wanted to use, I selected "Windows Live Mail Format" .On the screen where I am asked which folders that I wanted to Export I selected "All Folders". Then I clicked Next and received a message that the folders had been exported successfully.

I then took the USB drive to the new computer, started Windows Live Mail and then attempted to do the Import operation. I chose to import all folders and then initiated the Import. I got a message that the Import was successful. At the bottom of the account list was a folder that was titled Imported Folders. When I opened it, the only thing that was shown was the Inbox and Deleted Items subfolder, and also the Outbox folder. None of the other folders that I chose to back up were there. Als... Read more

Welcome again to Seven Forums Wembley You'd want to see if you can convert the file into a .csv file that you can then import into WLM. See if these instructions allow you to create a .csv file

How to Change a Word File to a Comma Delimited File

Then use these instructions to import the .csv file

To import offline contacts into Windows Live Mail

Open Windows Live Mail by clicking the Start button . In the search box, type Mail, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Live Mail.

In the lower-left corner, select Contacts.
Click Import on the ribbon.
Select the file format that matches your exported contacts (.csv or .vcf).
Click Browse and then select the folder containing your exported contacts.
Click Next and select the check boxes next to the fields that you want to import.
Click Finish.

Is there a way to make outlook delete mail in the sent folder with a imap account? I delete them and they stay, albeit with a strikethrough showing they are marked for deletion. But the only way to delete them so they are gone is go to my webmail page of the account and delete them there.

A:delete sent outlook mail imap account w/o doing it in webmail?

IMAP protocol's biggest advantage is also its biggest problem: the folders are and remain synchronized. You can move the sent messages to another folder to keep Sent folder empty, but in doing so both the Sent folders (local and server) will become and show empty.

Simple answer to your question: no, it's not possible. Check your provider if it is possible for you to use POP3 protocol, it would allow you deleting locally and keeping files on server and vice versa.

A:Windows Live Mail Account Pop Up

Hi woodsman2, welcome to 7F!

Is this the pop-up?

I don't believe you can delete it. It has to be there to sign-in.

Try inputting your user name and password, Make sure you have the proper email address and password spelling, when complete, click on the Remember me box if it doesn't automatically do it for you.

Be careful when signing-in. there is a forget me link right above the sign-in button, you may have inadvertently clicked that to start this problem you're having. I'm hoping that if you sign-in it will reset the "Forget Me" action.

Can you describe the "list icon" a little better, maybe point it out on this?

If you click on the attachment it may open in a new tab, if you click on it there it might get larger and better to see. This depends on the browser you're using.

If it doesn't go to a new tab or get larger, study it, when done click on the browser back button to the left of the www. address bar to return to your thread.

The only free way I know of that you can do this with Windows Live Mail is to maintain a common Hotmail account or a Gmail account configured to use the imap protocols (intructions for setup included in the Gmail account settings). The way both work is that the account is kept current on the web and then that is shared and syncronized with each copy of Windows Live Mail configured to use that one web account.

A:I think someone has hacked my Windows Live E-Mail account

Unfortunately, I don't think you can use the same ID. Every account has a different ID/password combination, and if you try to open a new Windows Live account, you will just get an error message saying that ID is already in use. I think the only thing you can do is to take all of the steps you can to clean up your email account.

Here's some help for you:

First, I suggest you run one or two good malware scans (i.e. Malwarebytes or MSE or TrendMicro) to get rid of any malware in your email account (or anywhere on your system).

Then, follow the steps below, and hopefully there's help for you there.

First line of defense is to change your password and all "secret questions" and "answers."

Then, if hackers have locked you out of your email, go on-line and sign up for the free service in which you give your email provider (i.e. Windows Live/Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) your cell phone number and they text you a secret code to allow you to get back into your email.

Next, when you do get back into your email, always "log out" of your email when you exit, rather than just hitting the exit X icon. Hitting the exit X doesn't end your email session, only 'logging out' actually shuts it down. If you just press exit, that leaves it available to be hacked because technically, it's still open, even after you've gone.

If nothing above has helped the problem, take a look at these tutorials to see if there is any help there for you:

Hi David,

Since confirming I successfully added my Hotmail using POP to WLM and tested it, (it worked) it has been removed from WLM as it gets very very few messages.
My settings were slightly different from yours.
On the Servers tab, I ticked 'My server requires authentication'
On the Advanced tab, 'Server Timeouts' was set to 5 minutes & everything below 'Delivery' was unticked.

I have also made changes to my other accounts.

Gmail main account used to check my AOL mail account, its been cancelled.

My other Gmail is forwarded to my Gmail main account.

To get notified of new mail on opening FF, I added https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...tifier/?src=ss
it checks my main Gmail, AOL & Hotmail for me. If their is mail for me in Gmail, I open WLM to read them.
If there is mail for AOL or Hotmail, clicking the addon opens their respective web pages.

Hi there wonderful Tech guys!

I have been experiencing a problem with my Windows Live Hotmail account. Basically when I log in, the log in page is normal, but the script which should show my inbox, sent msgs etc is is all in the wrong place, or not there at all, it moves around the page and all the image icons are condensed into the top left of the screen.

When I scroll my mouse over the headings (inbox, sent, deleted mails etc, which are all listed in a line down the left of the page) they disappear and reappear seemingly at random. I can access my emails with a well timed mouse click but I am very concerned about this problem as I am self employed and have a lot of important emails stored in this account.

I thought I should also add that yesterday I received an email from a known contact which would not open. There was an error message saying something like 'windows cannot complete this command at present' - sorry I don't have the exact message but everything was fine until I opened the account today. It didn't have a message saying 'this email looks suspicious' with it. The person who had sent that e-mail resent it and it opened fine. Do you think I could have received a virus through that email?

I have tried to contact Windows live about this but they do not have a contact phone number for this kind of query and there help page does not have the answer either.

Many Thanks for your help

I held out and downloaded Windows 10 on the last day it was going to be free. I?ve been having some email issues ever since. Some have been solved; one has been a toothache.

Although Microsoft wants to wean people off of Windows Live Mail in favor of the built in mail interface in Windows 10, I want to keep using WLM.

I need two email accounts set up on WLM. One I have set, a IMAP account (a Time Warner Roadrunner account) which is working properly and the other an outlook.com email account which isn?t. (All the settings on the two accounts are IDENTICAL with the exception of the server names)

The OUTLOOK account is also set a IMAP and the setting are correct as I can send and receive emails?both properly going through the proper server and being able to be read in my hand held device and on the outlook.com web site.

The problem is I can?t get folders to populate in WLM on that account, so I can?t see (read) incoming mail from there, nor do I have a SENT folder to verify that my emai ?went.?

The step which I can not get to happen in to ?DOWNLOAD FOLDERS?, i.e. the ?Inbox?, ?Drafts?, ?Sent Items?, ?Junk E-mail?, and ?Deleted Items? folders.

There is a link to click to download those folders (?Windows Live Mail needs to download the folders before you can read the messages in this account. To download the folders, click DOWNLOAD link?)but it churns and churns and churns then finally times out with an error message that reads:

Hi,

I am not a computer tech guy. So, patience required by those who are. Thanks in advance.

I have two accounts set up in Windows Live Mail. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional. Everything has run very smoothly for the last three years or so. Today I tidying out the inbox for one of those accounts; deleting, transferring to folders both within Live Mail and elsewhere in the computer. On checking new email I am presented with a small pop-up box which, at a glance, I thought was the request by an e-mailer for me to acknowledge receipt of the email. I trust the email and click "Yes" I then realise that the box has changed, showing a progress bar with a green wave flowing left to right with bar steadily filling up. I then realise that it is about to delete one of my email account. With the progress bar half full I click on the "cancel" button. The box disappears but then so does my account! I scan the computer for viruses but find nothing. I use "System restore" but nothing comes back. I have looked on the internet and have found advice and instruction for people that have had the same problem but even the instructions for Windows 7 do not marry up with my system i.e. navigating to folders. I feel that there must be a difference between Windows 7 and Windows 7 Professional.
I have gone to mail2web and there is my account. i.e. I can log onto my account through mail2web and see emails still on the server, following the deletion of the ... Read more

A:How can I retrieve a deleted Windows Live Mail Account

I don't know how you have your View set up but look in the lower left corner of the Folder pane for a group called Storage Folders and expand it (Click on the arrowhead). Click on Deleted Items and see if the account is there. Below is a sample of what to look for.

if you CLOSE your account it stays dormant for 270 days!!!! and you can log back in at anytime during then

my email has been used to spam twice, so ive created a new one, I want to delete the old one but it seems to be impossible to do, some people say just dont sign in for 30 days and accounts deleted, I dont believe that is the case anymore with WLM as they would not keep it dormant for 270 days if you actually wanted to close an account...seems to be wrong to me.

does anyone know if this is possible?

thanks

Windows Live Mail

I installed the Windows 7 trial OS.
I installed Windows Live Mail.

I setup all of my email accounts (gmail, Hotmail, Live and my ISP Parolink email).

All work great except the email from my internet service provider, which is my main email.

When I hit Sync they all Send/Receive ok until it reaches my Parolink account. Then it displays "Checking for new messages on 'Parolink (johnnieq)'... Downloading message 1"

And it remains there counting up and in about thirty seconds it shows "Downloading message 30128" and keeps on counting up at a blazing speed, but not one message is ever received.

The settings are correct, copied and pasted from my XP drive. I can access my email ok via a web browser. I have no viruses. (new OS installtion) I contacted my ISP and they see nothing wrong at their end.

Anyone have any ideas on what could cause this?

A:Solved: One account not working in Windows Live Mail?

I installed Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 Beta 3 and tried the problem account in it. When I tried Send/Recieve an error message appeared saying it could not create a folder? The path it displayed in the error message had "AVG" in it. So I opened AVG and disabled all the email options & retried Thunderbird. It worked. I tried Windows Live Mail & it worked.

AVG was giving me an warning message that I was not protected so in the Email Scanner Settings I re-enabled the "Scan outgoing messages" & "Display notification window when e-mail is being scanned" options. I left the "Scan incoming messages" box unchecked and the AVG security warning left & my email still worked.

Problem solved.

I am having trouble with YahooPops and Yahoo! Mail account. I download and install the software and use my LATEST version of Windows Live Mail. After that I keep getting error messages. I use pop3, smtp 127.0.0.1 and my username as eg. [email protected] I enter the full address, even the @yahoo part too. It asks to check authenticate option in the settings so I did. I even tried changing my zone to Asia because I heard some people on the message board there talking about it. That didn't work. I get my gmail to work but why does Yahoo! have to be so complex? Anyway, if anyone can assist, please let me know.

My existing hotmail email account just switched to outlook express. Since then - I've switched to "windows live mail" and my 2 existing existing email addresses have been sucessfully transferred over to "live mail" and both work.
But now trying to ADD more email addresses in my"live mail account" and all attempts have failed.
Tryed to manually config server settings - and that failed. Commom advice is to "contact your email provider" for server settings...... Well who is provider? hotmail?? outlook express?? windowss live mail?? What gives?? Anyone know where iam going wrong?

Hello,

I have been attempting to link all of my emails on windows live mail lately and it looked easy for a while. It was until I had to add my Cogeco account to it. The system keeps telling me, when I attempt to run a test message, that it can't locate the incoming and outgoing mail servers. I have even taken the servers declared on their personal website and they do not work.. Here are my current server settings:

incoming mail (POP3): pop.cgocable.ca (initially it was "pop.cogeco.ca")
outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.cgocable.ca (initially it was "smtp.cogeco.ca")
E-mail username: **********

I have heard of some people checking the box where it says, "my server requires authentication" and they have had some success. I have tried this as well but they require me to re-enter the password and it will not even accept it! I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Hello,

Twice a day someone or something is using my email account (I use Live Mail 2011 to access my Hotmail account) to send emails to everyone in my contacts list. Up until recently these emails had a blank subject line and in the body of the email had only a link (different each time) leading to various sites (most of which were dead/invalid). As of yesterday, however, people are telling me that I've been emailing them regular looking emails inviting them to join me in some social networking site, or health club site, or genealogy site etc. My main Internet Security Software is McAfee (it came preloaded with the computer) and Spybot Search and Destroy. Since those programs didn't detect anything I also downloaded and installed MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, SpywareBlaster, Lavasoft Ad-Aware (which I recently uninstalled because of compatibility issues), and HijackThis. Some of these programs found several occurrences of malware, but the problem persists nonetheless.

I followed all the instructions on the tutorial here, but gmer is crashing my computer. The first time I ran it it scanned for about 5 minutes before the screen turned blue and gave me a long message I didn't have time to copy down except for this : "A Problem has been detected and Windows had to shut down to prevent loss of data." Under that it said : "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT"

I restarted the computer and tried gmer again, only this time the computer crashed before I eve started the sca... Read more

Greatings,
I have a problem with one of my two hotmail accounts connected to Windows Live Mail since 01/08/2016. I can't recieve or send any mail. The last mail I recieved was 27/07. It is strange, because with the other account I can still recieve and send mails.
I can't find the or any reason why this particular account doesn't function anymore. The server hostname and port are the same in both accounts.

I use Windows 7 64 bit.

Why does this happen?

If you're using IMAP it can happen when there's a communication issue with your eMail provider.

Have you tried manually rebuilding the account with a POP/SMTP configuration and seeing if the problem happens then?

OH JOY 'TIS ME AGAIN!

I do seem to have strange problems. Here's the story:
I have WLM & WM on my Vista pc. On my account it all works lovely with hardly any problems in one applicaton; open up WLM and my WM ([email protected]) is available also.

On the different user account, that is another story.
I can open up WLM or WM in seperate applications; open up WLM, close WLM, open up WM, close WM.
But WLM will not incorporate the WM account.
I tried ADD ANOTHER ACCOUNT but though it starts off well it does not go past the password point and either keeps flashing the password login box at me for ever or it says the email account name and or password is wrong.
Now here is the strange bit - on my other pc all is well with this WLM, it rocognises the user name and password of WLM and desk top application mail ([email protected]).

So do I give the different user Admin rights, will that make any difference? Or what?

Help would very much be appreciated!

Hello

I am new here and just purchased a laptop with Windows 7 on it and Windows Live Mail already installed.
My previous laptop (still up and running, but mainly just to check emails now) had Outlook Express and was set up many years ago when it was new.
Do I need to completely close down or delete the Outlook Express before I open up a new account in Windows Live Mail with the same email address?
I've tried opening up and putting server details, username/password into Windows Live Mail - and it's accepted it.
However when I go to send/receive mail - it keeps asking me to log in and give my password, and that it's incorrect - when I know it is actually correct?

Am I doing something wrong here? Or how can I open up my emails on my new laptop via Windows Live Mail?

I have Microsoft Security Essentials running as my antivirus protection.

I am hopeful I am doing something very silly and someone might be able to help me with this, as I'm not very computer minded - simple instructions please if anyone has suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Since you're using Windows 7 for WLM and OE for XP they can't simultaneously be on the same PC. However both programs can be set up on their respective PCs at the same time; just keep in mind that if you download your mail on one PC you won't see it on the other afterwards unless you choose the option to "keep mail on server".

If OE is working, look carefully at every tab of Account Properties and set up WLM the same way. WLM is the replacement for OE for Windows 7 and will work if set up the same.
