I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Print out these instructions and then close all windows including Internet Explorer. Then I want you to fix some of those entries. I keep getting a box that says: This application has failed to start because NSI.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.I get the same message with Normaliz.dll instead of NSI.dll on some programs. I get about 8 of those boxes every time I boot up my computer now. I have no idea how to fix this or what's even wrong. Any help whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. Hi there, literally just set up my new Envy but realised it is listed on the system as 'Notebook 13-ab0xx'. Got me wondering if i had been sent out the wrong product. Or is this just another name for the 13-AB007NA. Thanks!

A:Wrong system been sent out?

You're very welcome. Yes, it is. Just check some of the product specs on the link I posted against what your PC has, such as the graphics, processor, size of the hard drive, etc.

Well... I know what's WRONG. I've been having problems with system 32 for a while. It was those RUNDLL error messages that I was stupid and ignored. But eventually, I googled it and tried to figure out how I could possibly get rid of it. So this site told me to download something along the lines of "XP Adaware". I can't remember the name exactly, but it ended up being a fraud application (just my luck) and sent out so many viruses and problems and ugh. I read somewhere that the program gives your computer malware, so I'm assuming THIS site didn't lie to me. Ooookay, let's see. For a while, the program would pop up and tell me I can't access the internet because it's dangerous and it might give me a virus. Ironic. So I ended up uninstalling it, and leaving my computer off for a while.I started it up this morning, and tried doing some things. I'm pretty sure all I can access right now is my documents(music, pictures, stuff like that), but nothing beyond that. It lets me access Control Panel off and on I guess. The error message that pops up (I'd take a screenshot, but I'm on a different computer, and i don't even wanna do too much to the infected one anyway) says:(The title is the address of my computer for the file I'm trying to access, like say, Google Chrome)windows cannot access the specified device, path,or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.I do indeed have permissions to access... Read more

Hello i just got a computer from a friend and im sure her son downloaded a virus on it. Im pretty expirenced with computers and operating systems but I've never seen a virus like this. Often my laptop will not recognize all the memory in it, and will also knock down the processor speed when viewing the information throught the control panels system information. However the bios always displays the correct information. I've tried changing out sticks and slots and still intermittently the correct specs do not display under the control panel. But after rebooting the computer it will often show different information under the system info.I know my motherboard supports up to 512 mb and i only have (2) 128 mb sticks in it. I would like to upgrade the memory on this but am afraid it's going to be a waste if windows isn't even going to recognize it all.

Also not sure if this is related but often after rebooting it will have the windows firewall disabled, but if i reenable and then reboot it's disabled again.

Any advice would be great appreciated!

what kind of computer? laptop or pc? and when you say wrong time, too fast or too slow?

my laptop is fairly old, and my clock is unable too keep the time, constantly too slow.

I don't know too much, but I've been told that it's because my battery is old. Plus, I don't keep it charged very often.

Just a suggestion.

I bought this unit with monitor and keyboard at Walmart on 02/04 2017.  PC shows that it was assembled by HP in 2015 and the original operating system was windows 7.  The monitor is only compatible with windows 7 and the new operating system is windows 10 when I purchased it.  the unit is slow, lockes up and the monitor had a fuzzy area through the center when showing photos and videos.  The whole thing was  a total waste of money.  I would like it corrected either reload windows 7 or send me a monitor that will work with windows 10.

@Modeina Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! First of all, this is just a community forum staffed by volunteers, and we don't send anyone hardware. Second, if the PC is not working properly and you want one with a different OS, the cheapest thing for you to do would be to return it for a refund and buy a different PC.  To install Win7 on this one will cost you money, as you would have to pay for HP Recovery Media -- a set of disks that will do a factory reset on your PC. If you still want to install Win7 on it, then use the contact information below to reach HP Customer Support to order the HP Recovery Media. If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while! If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836Good Luck

Hey Tech Help Guys,

I am having a major problem with my computer.

I have an issue with the machine making this funny noise in my headphones about 5 minutes after its been on and completeley locking up to the point where doing any work is simply impossible.

It makes a funny scratching noise in the headphones then hangs. It only happens when I have Firefox going or so I can tell.

I have a wierd situation also with the network. I am a student and the SMU network has to verify your comuter before they allow it onto the network. I have run the validation and it allowed me on. However, every time I turn the computer on it tries to revalidate my system. It wont let me on the Internet for about 30 secs then all of the sudden the Internet works perfectly again. I am extremeley frustrated and in dire need of help.

Thanks in advance.

When I installed Windows 8, it recognized a hard drive as Disk 0 and my SSD as Disk 1. I didn't know that it was important to put the system files on Disk 0, with the System Reserved partition, and installed Windows on the SSD. After installation, I saw that the hard drive had a System Reserved partition and a larger partition, which I combined. So it now has one partition marked System Reserved. I installed my programs on the SSD and only data files on the System Reserved hard drive, and everything is working. However, when I swapped in another hard drive in place of the hard drive with the System Reserved partition, the computer wouldn't boot. Thus I'm going to have to do something about it.

In the Disk Management screen under Computer Management, the drives show up as follows:

HDD: Disk 0: System Reserved (D:) Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition)

SSD: Disk 1: (C:) Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

How can I get rid of the System Reserved designation on the Disk 0 hard drive and place it on the Disk 1 SSD without having to reinstall Windows and my programs on the SSD? I don't mind having to recopy data files to the hard drive if gets wiped clean.

A:System Reserved on Wrong Drive

I don't think it is something you can do without starting from the scratch.

Perhaps if you unplug your HDD, boot from Windows disc or USB and hit repair, it will fix it. If all's fine, plug in the HDD and remove the 100MB partition and combine it with the next partition. ( but I don't think you can do it from Disk Management without losing your data. You will have to find a 3rd party tool like Acronis Disk Director.)

So, I installed 64 bit Windows 7 on my computer, all seems good except the system paritition is not on the disk I installed Windows 7 to. I can not get inside the computer to remove one hard drive and then reinstall and I would prefer not to even reinstall again.

Disk E is my USB Stick.

Is there anyway to manually fix this:?

A:System Partition on Wrong Disk

Easiest would be to transfer the bootmgr to C - then you can disregard the system partition. Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD

The reason your system partition landed on Disk0 is because the installer always grabs the disk with the lowest port number for it.

How do I get the efi partition on the c:\ drive????

A:EFI system partition on wrong drive

First, volume letters != drive letters. Unless you pre-partition and image yourself, Windows setup will place the EFI partition on the first physical disk presented to setup by the EFI OS, even if it's not actually the first disk installed into the system. I used to get this all the time with an older Asus board, where my (larger) storage volume would get the EFI partition, even though I chose a different physical disk to place the installation volume on. I ended up backing up my data and moving the SATA cables around until it was the way I wanted it (and no, it didn't match the port layout on the motherboard unless I set the Intel ICH configuration from "RAID" to "AHCI".

I am having Acer Aspire 5052 ANWXMi-Turion Laptop.

I have Windows-XP professional service pack 2 installed on it.

I am facing two problems in it:

1. If I go to My Computer and try to open any of the drives (i.e C, D, E & F) by double-clicking the drive labels, the drive is not getting opened.
But I am able to open the hard-drives using right-click-->open. This double-click problem is not happening anywhere else like in other folders etc.

2. The second problem I am facing is that I have 1GB of RAM in it(2 each of 512MB), but when I see System Properties it shows a RAM of 768MB but if I go to
System Information and check the Total Physival Memory it shows as 1024MB.
I would be really greatful if somebody can help me in resolving these issues.

A:Wrong Display Of Ram In System Properties

Hi .The memory differential...is probably caused by the fact that part of the physical RAM installed (1GB) is being used for onboard video. The System Properties info reflects the net of total RAM installed minus such allocation. What do you see if you go Start/right-click on My Computer and select Properties? Should be 768MB, if I am right. There is a setting in the BIOS which you can use to adjust the amount of RAM so used. You can set it for a lesser amount. If you only do normatl things, there is no reason to allocate more than 64MB for onboard video, IMO.http://www.ehow.com/how_2138456_configure-...rough-bios.htmlSorry, but I have no answer for your first question, although I have seen the answer posted in this forum before.Louis

Hi and Welcome to TSF

You can have multiple corrupted user profiles, which might be your issue.
Create another profile and see if these issue are present in the new one.

If this is the case, you can copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile by following this link

I've recently bought a new WD 1TB HDD to replace my (really) old Samsung 500GB HDD. I created a system image, then unplugged the old HDD, plugged in the new one and put in the win7 installation disk. I went to restore it from a system image, however, it said something along the lines of not being able to restore because it's EFI and not BIOS? The BIOS itself then went and died, and by this I mean literally only the BIOS clock worked, everything else was pixelated and would not interact with my curosr, so I flashed it and it's now working again, i.e. I'm back at stage one. The system image was created on a Simple NTFS volume, which I created myself as the HDD came completely formatted, not partitions or volumes or anything. I'm really hoping this is an error on my part and not a hardware failure, but we'll see what happens. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need any more information or if the information I've given is too vague. Thanks in advance.

I don't plan on using the old HDD once I've got everything transferred to the new one. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just 20GB away from being full and horribly slow.

A:Wrong system image type?

It is most likely not hardware failure because your new HDD is likely formatted with GPT. You should try copying the data off of the old HDD.

I bought a used laptop from an online community, and when I received it everything seemed fine, and was working correctly.
However, I wanted to set it back to factory defaults and start "fresh", so that's what I did. The only problem is that something went wrong during the restore.

When it is suppose to start up, the screen will get all the way to the windows logo and then crash back to a black screen saying that windows 7 didn't install properly and i need to restart to continue the updates.... so I do. but it just keeps repeating.

I tried pressing F7 until the menu came up and I tried to start in safe mode, but it still does the same thing before the computer gets to fully restart.

on a side note, please be patient with me, as I am unfamiliar with computer jargon. thanks in advance for whoever takes the time to respond to this.

A:full system restore gone wrong.

Hello LadyVi and welcome to Seven Forums.

The two usual methods to restore a computer to factory defaults involve using a set of "recovery" disks or accessing a hidden recovery partition on the computer's hard drive. Depending on which method you used you could try running it again. Perhaps a glitch occurred during the restore. But it's also possible that the disks or partition are damaged or corrupt and just won't work.

One of the Forum experts prepared this tutorial on how to do a clean reinstall on a factory OEM computer.

And this tutorial shows the steps need to clean reinstall Windows 7 on any computer:

I believe that all date numbers after 2/28/1900 are too large by one!
Has anyone else noticed this? Am I missing something here? I checked the "Software" forum and found nothing in the past 6 years. I would be amazed if I were the first to notice this!

OK, so now i restored the system of my Laptop. It didnt have a Recovery CD with it, so i used another Recovery CD from another computer to restore it with. So now when i boot it, it gets to the Screen where i can choose to start Windoes normally, with the last working configuration, or in one of the safe modes. I've tried booting it in them all. In the normal and last good configuration mode it just moved on to a black screen. Nothing else happens. And safe mode it loades all (Or some) files, and then it stop when finished loading, or in the middle of loading one.. Just freezes. And nothing happends..

So i messed up bad .. How can i fix this so the computer will start up completely again?
(The laptop i restored was a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7300, while the Recovery CD i used was from a Fujitu Siemens stationary computer(Dunno what model it is), and the Recovery CD is also from Statoil, while the Laptop isnt.)

Please help?

A:System Restore gone wrong .. Terribly

I suggest that you contact Fujitsu and purchase a replacement set of recovery CDs.

I have two hard drives in my Win 7 Pro Computer one is a boot driver with programs and the other is a data drive.

On several occassions now the computer attempts to boot to the data drive. I have had to go into the SETUP and change the drive sequence and the correct drive to boot to.

Any information or suggestions to eliminate this problem will be appreciated.

A:System Boots to wrong drive

You more than likely have 2 instances of Windows showing on the boot choice screen and the 1st instance is in the primary position (i.e. you installed it last) so if you do not choose the 2nd instance prior to the timeout (DEFAULT is 30 seconds and won't change unless you did this) it boots to the primary, you can change this by typing msconfig>boot>change the other sequence to DEFAULT.

I have my mother-in-laws computer with windows 8.  I did a system restore and now it has her old username at the login screen which I have the password but the computer will not accept it.  I also have the new username and password but cannot figure out how to change it.  I have no experience with windows 8.  What do I need to do to log back in?

I just performed a clean install of win 8.1 (I couldn't take win 10 fonts anymore). All went fine but because I hadn't loaded Dell drivers yet, my wired internet wasn't working. So in order to connect with Dell and download drivers, I connected to my wireless.

No problem -- internet access worked fine and I was able to update all my Dell drivers. This caused my wired internet access to start working. It appears that the system made the wired connection my network (which I wanted) but it is still keeping my wireless router as the network name.

For example, if I display network connections, it shows Wi-Fi none; Wired Ethernet <name of my wireless router>

Is there anyway I can change that name??

Not really sure what's going on here.....I have a SONY DRU-120C DVD-RW drive I put in a couple months back. I noticed, however, that the system recently stopped recognizing it and now lists it as a SONY DW-G120A. For some reason it thinks it is the other type of drive which is a CD drive. On top of that it isn't listing it as a source drive in My Computer. I've unplugged it, uninstalled it, restarted and had it recognize it and it continues to reinstall the same wrong drive. I've ran several different scans and nothing pops up.

A:System Recognizing Wrong DVD Drive

Does the drive work? Is there a Warranty on the drive? Most likely not, but CD-DVD drives do go bad and it doesn't matter what brand they are. If it isn't working at all and you have double checked the cables and Power to it then it must have just died on you.

Shared system memory is dynamic, it changes with how you use it.

Because of the extensive use of graphics in the Windows Vista and later desktop and DirectX games, software that runs on Windows Vista and later should be able to accurately determine the amount of available graphics memory. WDDM manages the virtualization of graphics memory in itself and also ensures accurate reporting of various aspects of graphics memory. Application developers and software vendors should take advantage of the DirectX version 10 APIs for retrieving the accurate set of graphics memory values on computers that have Windows Vista display drivers.

I am working on an IBM I series 1300 for a customer of mine and I have a bit of a problem. The BIOS states a P3 750MHz processor but the Win XP properties shows a 477MHz P3?????????????? I have never seen this before and it seems to me that the computer is running a little slower than these have in the past. It's like it's running at 477Mhz instead of 750Mhz. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

A:Wrong CPU specs in system properties

Sounds to me like a communications failure between your motherboard and Windows. I'd suggest updating your motherboard resource drivers (chipset, etc); these should be readily available from the website of your motherboard's manufacturer.

First of all, I would like to say, Windows Installer needs A LOT of work. Too buggy.

My problem:
I have DIsk 0 (500 GB), and DIsk 1 (250 GB). These are seperate HD, not partitions.

I have installed Windows 7 on Disk 0.
However, the dumbass windows created the System partition on Disk 1.
Please refer to the screenshot below.

This is a big problem because if I remove Disk 1, Windows will not boot up anymore.

How can I fix this?

P.S. I have been troubleshooting this windows installer thing for the last 8 hours. Finally was able to install it. Ran through a lot of stupid mistakes this Windows Installer should have been able to figure out. Which is why I'm so mad. So excuse me, if I offended anyone.

A:System Partition created on the wrong Disk

Have a read of this tutorial
Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD

Or you can try unplugging disk 1 and running startup repair three times to rebuild boot files on disk 0, if successful plug disk 1 back in and mark as inactive
Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
Partition - Mark as Inactive
