Can't reinstall Windows XP error loading library c:\windows\system32\msdtctm.dll

Q: Can't reinstall Windows XP error loading library c:\windows\system32\msdtctm.dll

I have struggled for 5 days trying to repair my Windows XP and have finally given up and am now trying to do a clean install. I deleted the partition and did a full reformat. It started the installation but I get to the point in setup with 23 minutes left and then this error shows up....
Distributed Transaction Coordinator Setup Error

Sub-componet Distributed Transaction Coordinator raised an exception while processing the OC_COMPLETE_INSTALLATION setup message.

d:\nt\com\com1x\dtc\ntdtcsetup\src\csetuputil.cpp(line2725)
error code = 0x800703e7

Error performing inpage operation.
Failed to load the library 'C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdtctm.dll'.

"Click OK" (at bottom)

Do I just throw the whole thing out and buy a new computer? I am just so frustrated at this point.

Any help would be appreciated.

Preferred Solution: Can't reinstall Windows XP error loading library c:\windows\system32\msdtctm.dll

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This is what I found at this link: make sure your cd doesn't have any smudge's, ie fingerprints, on it, This is not to say this is the problem, someone with more experience will have to work on this if the below does not help

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914232

Error code 0x800703e7

This specific error occurs when there is a problem performing an inpage operation. This error typically occurs because of corruption of the disk.

Please help,
Our operating system is a windows XP, and on start up we get the following message: error loading C:\windows\system32\acgjfcev.dll The specified module could not be found. What is this? I did a search under run for this file and located C:\windows\system32 but there was no file named acgjfcev.dll. I have no idea what this file is or what it goes to, nor how to fix it, please help.
Thank you.

A:windows xp: error loading C:\windows\system32\acgjfcev.dll??!!

I'd request moving this to the malware forum (you can request that by clicking on the report button) and having them check your machine out. Google returns no hits on that .dll, and that's generally not a good sign.

She recently had a lot of spyware problems and I downloaded Adaware and Spybot to clean it up as best I could and it seemed to be working much better after that. Then yesterday she started up her computer (HP laptop--don't know any more at the present, other than Windows XP) and after booting up it brought up the following error:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\tiqpkaty.dll
The specified module could not be found

And then the computer simply freezes up and has to be turned off. I tried starting it in safe mode once and it was able to boot up, but I tried bring up adaware just look at something and the computer shut itself off. Any ideas on what the problem may be or what kind of solution--if any--exists?

When are you getting this error?

No results usually mean malware.

Could be remnants of malware that were left in the startup folder (partially removed)

Click Start > Run > type msconfig > click OK > click the Startup tab > look for the file and uncheck it.

This should stop the error at startup if the .dll file is listed.

I recommend that you take care of the malware issue.

To get expert help with malware removal see the link below. Follow the steps

http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...oval-help.html

After completing the steps you will be advised to post a log for one of the experts to examine. Please use the link provided to post the log not back here.

Be patient and it may take some time for someone to assist you as that is a busy forum.

Hi;
The following error message is received when logging into one of the three user accounts on a Win XP Pro machine.

Error loading: C:\Windows|Systme21\sujehihu.dll
The specified module could not be found.

We run Avast Home v4 on this machine. Avast found and quarantined some files.

I installed and ran Malwarebytes which also found many files. I removed them as per MBAM's instructions but the error message still exists.

A:Error Loading W\Windows\System32\sujehihu.dll

Hello...Its not unusual to receive such an error after using specialized fix tools.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.Credit to quietman7

Looks like you have traces of malware that was loading at startup that has been partially removed. go to Click Start-> type msconfig in the search bar -> go to the Startup tab. Look for the file and uncheck if there. That should remove the error at startup.

Next you should proceed to the malware forum and start running the 5 steps first completing all steps.

I recently made a grave error of judgement. In my desperation to get an Amiga emulator working I downloaded a Rom pack (or so it said). It was a .exe program, so I ignored it and looked around some more, when I found that 3 more Rom packs had the same .exe. file I decided to click it (thinking somehow it might be the Rom pack). Funny how we do silly things when desperate. Anyway, it began installing (invisible after the initial click) and from then on I got a little icon in my taskbar. Active shopper and options to enable or disable, I keep it disabled. After about 5 mins I started getting random pop-ups and my computer slowing down. I now get this message (quite often); "Error loading C:windows\system32\kvqbhetmnsoy.dll" - The specified module could not be foundIt doesnt seem to affect anything, but a friend told me that it was spyware/adware, and that it was beginning to overwrite my DLL files. Doing a search for "aksgbasp.dll" shows absolutely no results. That could be a bad thing. Hi, Im new to this forum and i was wondering if you guys could give me some help, unfortunately im not too good with computers. Im getting an error that says:

RunDLL
Error Loading
C:\windows\system32\stlbdist.dll
The specific module could not be found

This appeared after i had used Adaware to get rid of some stuff. Ive been getting an enourmous amount of popups lately. When i run adaware i find like over 100 spyware files like cydoor and some other stuff. I have been lookign around this forum and i noticed people saying use spybot so i got that and i think ill uninstall adaware and just use spybot...is that a good idea? I also uninstalled kazaa. So i guess i have to questions how do i fix this error and what other steps can i take to get rid of these popups? Thanks guys.

Hi doinbox

Please read this post completely before begining the fix. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Please ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T MISS A STEP & PERFORM EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT ORDER.

=================

We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:

The Recovery Console was successfully installed.

Please continue as follows:Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.
When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the following reports for further review, and so we may ... Read more

Hello doinbox

I think that is a trojan

Please read this article; "Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? - First Steps"; follow the instructions very carefully; then, post all the requested logs and information; as instructed, in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum
Please ensure that you create a new thread in the HiJackThis Log Help Forum; not back here in this one.

When carrying out The 5 Steps, if you cannot complete any of them for whatever reason, just continue on with the next one until they are all completed.
However,it is extremely important to make mention of the fact that you could not complete any of the steps in your post to The HJT Help Forum; where an Analyst will assist you with other workarounds.

Don`t try to fix this yourself as you could do damage and lose all access to your system

Please be patient, as the Security Team Analysts are usually very busy; one of them will answer your request as soon as they can.

Hiya all

I'm new here and I was wondering if someone has any idea what I can do with my PC... I have a DELL Dimension E521 and I am using Windows Vista Home Premium OS.

I was on 'lovely' Facebook yesterday (Friday 10th April 2009) and the PC froze. I had to switch it off by pressing the on/off button, and when I re-booted, I logged in and it loads (slowly) but takes me to a blank screen with only my mouse pointer on it (it moves around).

A message appears with the following information:
"Error loading c:\windows\system32\newdev.dll

A dynamic link library (DLL) initialisation routine failed."

I can press CRTL+ALT+Delete and it takes me to the 'lock computer, etc' page and I can restart the PC, but the same thing happens.

I have run multiple scans through pressing F12 on restart, I can enter the PC in Safe Mode by turning the PC off at the wall and restarting it (it's what I'm using now).

I have downloaded Reg Cure (but it asked me to pay money) and HiJack This but bit nervous about using it myself without instruction.
I have also downloaded and run a scan through Malwarebytes from a link I got through this site, I'll post the results upon request but not sure what they mean (obv!).

My McAfee won't work during Safe Mode and I've run a thorough scan with this, too but nothing shows up. I am at risk at the moment as I am not protected, and when I click 'Fix' in McAfee, it gives me the error me... Read more

My son's computer is slow and gives the following warning at start-up - "RUNDLL Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuleketo.dll The specified module could not be found."

About 4 months ago a similar error message came up with a different DLL file (I've misplaced the name of that file). The computer was so bad that I could only start it in Safe mode. From there I did a system restore to a previous point and got the computer up and running. My teenage son visits many questionable sites, downloads many games and programs and ignores many security warnings. Sigh. I can't tell you exactly what happened before this last error message showed up and what he has done to try and fix it.

I can tell you the following: this is an Dell XPS 200, running MS Windows XP Media Center Edition (2002) SP3. I have Zone Alarm Security Suite version 8.0.298 and it stays up to date on virus and spyware updates and scans. I do know that in the past my son has ignored warnings from ZA but I have no idea which warnings he chose to ignore.

So (1) Is this computer infected or just messed up from my son's many games and downloads? (2) Can you help me get it working properly again? (3) Is there any help for parents of teenagers?

Thanks.

Hi, everytime I start my computer, windows xp pro pops up a message that says:

Other than being annoying, it doesn't seem to affect anything on my computer. I don't have the bcwsvjkn.dll anywhere on my computer and I'm not sure what program is trying to load it, resulting in it not being found. I Googled bcwsvjkn.dll, but couldn't find anything.

Good evening. Download OTL by OldTimer from here and save it to your Desktop. Double click the tool to run it. Click the Quick Scan button and allow it to do it's thing. Once complete, it should open two Notepad Windows - OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt It should also save copies in the same location as OTL. I want you to copy and paste the contents of OTL.txt that should appear into one reply and Extras.Txt into another. The length of the two logs sometimes results in the end being chopped off if you post both in one reply.

I did find some ad programs that I removed at the "add/remove programs" icon on the control panel, rightonadz and another, but the problem persists. I don't know if it's related, but at times that computer freezes and operates slowly. When I look at the "Windows Task Manager," under the performance tab, often the CPU usage is at %100 and there are no open applications. Thanks.

Hi,
I'm having problems with this pop-up. Every time I start my computer this error pops up: "Error loading C:\Windows\System32\byXPIbxY.dll The specified module could not be found." I have run many spyware removal programs and virus scans and have found nothing. After running the Panda Activescan it showed that i have some virus's but they cannot be removed by that tool and my other virus scanner(Avast!) won't find it. Any help you could provide would be great, thanks.

A:Constant Pop up- Error loading C:\Windows\System32\byXPIbxY.dll

Hello and welcome to TSF.

I see that you are using BitTorrent, which is a p2p file sharing program. I would like to warn you that the nature of P2P filesharing is so that even if one is using a "clean" program, many of the files downloaded from non-documented sources have the potential of being infected. So, regardless of whether one is using a "clean" program, one may still be prone to infection by malware because more than half of all files available for download from peer-to-peer networks have been deliberately infected with some form of malware. Also by default, most P2P file sharing programs are configured to automatically launch at startup. They are also configured to allow other P2P users on the same network open access to a shared directory on your computer. The reason for this is simple, file sharing relies on its members giving and gaining unfettered access to computers across the P2P network. However, this practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft.
I recommend very strongly that you remove it from your system via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

This started to occur after the antivirus deleted a virus. I don't know if this is related but some times when trying to send a email message over att DSL it says it cannot connect to the server. Also some times when sending web mail it also will not connect to the server.Any help would be appreciated.

the whole mess started a few days ago when my free avg detected several infections and warnings of trojan horses, like Generic13.EEE and .DNF. I vaulted them and did all kinds of precaution. downloaded ccleaner.org and hijackthis, system restore, virus-protect. org\ccleaner.htm\ in safe mode and changing my internet browser from explorer to firefox, etc.
the avg scanner does show any more viruses but indecates two loading errors when i start the computer.
1. c:\WINDOWS\system32\nalayafi.dll
The specified module could not be found
2. all same but valalafo.dll
can anybody help me?! thank you so much!!
