Q: M57 - XP drivers for PCI Serial Port & PCI Simple Communications Controller are missing

I am preparing deployment image for ThinkCentre M57 (6074-A4G). I have manually downloaded and installed all the drivers (excluding those related to AMT etc.) to the SYSPREPped machine but XP "Device Manager" still reports that "PCI Serial Port", "PCI Simple Communications Controller" & and an "Unknown device" (Intel ICH9DO LPC Interface Controller) are missing drivers. Does anyone have any information about this?Tried to use also Lenovo System Update but it only updated Graphics card and Intel Chipset etc. and left even more missing drivers.appreciate the help.- lakend

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have installed Windows 7 Enterprise on a Dell e6500 and cannot find drivers for the PCI Serial Port and PCI Simple Communications Controller. I tried the Vista drivers on Dell Driver downloads site and after attempting to install them, I get an error saying that they are incompatible with the OS. Any suggestions as to where I can find compatible drivers?

A:PCI Serial Port and PCI Simple Communications Controller Drivers for Windows 7 Enterprise

I actually contacted Dell about the issue and they told me that they did not support Windows 7 until October 22nd. After the initial install failed, I tried to update the driver and searched the folder created by the failed installation. It found a driver it liked and installed it. I guess the incompatibility was with the .exe file and not the driver itself. Here is the link for the drivers: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsdr&catid=&impid=&os=WNET&osl=en&SystemID=LAT_E6500 They are both under Vista 32-bit Chipset: Intel_AMT-HECI_A00_R192786.exe Intel_AMT-SOL-LMS_A00_R192787.exe As of now, all drivers are installed and working properly. No problems on the laptop of on the network.

Hi having huge problems with this PC and posting this question as a last resort. PC Crashed with a start up error on windows 10. Sadly we never created the USB recovery media so had to install a fresh OS. Not too conerned because we had a full back up of the PC on the server which we though we could use to recover the PC.However when using the USB client backup key to boot the PC cannot find the server on the network. In the standard boot up the PC can ping the server plus is can connect to the internet. We have even tried using a USB to ethernet device thinking its the network card that has a problem. Only thing i can think it is now is that we are missing two drivers on the device manager. 1. PCI Serial Port2. PCI Simple Communications ControllerThrough research everyone says it to do with the chipset drivers. So ihave used the intel driver update utility and installed all missing driviers. I have also installed HP chipset drivers from the HP website btru still nothing. Has anyone got an idea of what i am doing wrong. I really think this PCI driver is my problem in ordet to do the full restore of the client backup.

Hi there, this is my first post on the forum as I found this site while browsing on my iPod. Now why would I have to use my iPod when I have a beautiful new computer sitting in front of me? Well as the title says. I have no controllers, ergo, no Internet.

I bought it second hand, absolutely nothing wrong with it, I think he just might of went too far when he wiped it before giving it to me.

So, I came here hoping you guys could rescue me... I'm looking for the driver(s) I need, and I'm also wondering how I can manage to download them to my com if it's not online. I have;

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd
System Model: H55M-S2
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (6.1 build 7600)
Processor: Intel Core i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07ghz (4 CPUs)
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG

I'm hoping that's all good, I read it all of my DxDiag. Thanks In advance for the help!

Hello Everyone.

I installed Windows 7 build 7227 3 days ago and have encountered 2 problems.

My Specs are:
Intel DP35DP MB
Quad core Q8200 2.33GHZ CPU
2x1Gb HyperX Kingston RAM
EZCool 1200w PSU
XFX GTX 295 Graphics card

1st problem:
My MB Management Engine Interface Drivers are incompatible and even when I try to run them in compatibility mode they still do not work.

2nd Problem:
The new OS is not picking up one of my WD 1Tb HDD. It shows in the bios, and it shows in the device manager but nowhere else. I think that this may have something to do with the fact that there is no PCI simple communications controller installed, and I cannot find that anywhere.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with these issues.

Dell Dimension 1100/B110 desktop pc. Was XP but now with Home Premium 32-bit installed via Microsoft recommended "custom" installation. "windows.old" folder still on C drive. I have not performed the "Windows Easy Transfer" of files. EVERYTHING appears to be working exactly as advertised yet I have this yellow exclamation mark. Dell website does not support Windows 7 on this PC. Microsoft Windows Update utility reported that 32-bit Windows 7 was acceptable to be installed but not 64-bit. Installed Windows 7 because of the impending end of support by Microsoft. The Dell motherboard is 0WF887 according to Belarc. Printer is working normally. Wireless is OK. Wired is OK. Audio is OK. Video is OK -- I am NOT using the motherboard VGA video output - I am using the VGA output on a card that was added before I acquired the PC. Maybe the card came from Dell with this video card already installed but the Dell support website does not show that is true for my Service Tag number. The installed card also has an unused DVI output.

Performed a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on my Dell OptiPlex 790.  Everything went well and all the devices drivers were installed except one, the Intel AMT - SOL device.  The vendor id is 8086 and the device id is 1C3D.  Can you help with this issue?

A:Missing PCI Simple Communications Controller Driver, Dell Optiplex 790

It looks like its the Intel Serial over Lan driver.  Your computer was never tested by Dell for Windows 10, meaning there are no new drivers created by Intel, etc., that may work.  You could google Intel AMT/SOL and see if Intel does have a driver for your chipset that may work.  It looks like Dell stopped supporting your computer at Windows 8.0

Since you are looking for a hardware driver for a Dell laptop, the most logical place to go is to the Dell website and download the drivers:

You will find the drivers for the PCI Simple Communications Controller undert the Communications tab!
Dell also has forums for their hardware:
http://en.community.dell.com/ which is the proper place to go for support of Dell hardware. Please remember to click ?Mark as Answer? on the post that helps you, and to click ?Unmark as Answer? if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ?

I would be grateful for help with this problem. I have just inherited a Lenovo computer from my stepson who has gone abroad to work.It is a M58e Thinkcentre Machine Type 7847W3L.The OS is Windows 7 x64 Professional. Service Pack 1. When I open Device Manager I find that 'PCI Simple Communications Controller' has an error flag against it.The Information Box for this device says : - 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver' When I try to update the driver, Windows fails to find one.I have installed all outstanding updates and the update system says now says 'Windows is up to date' I have read elsewhere in this forum that the required software is an Intel Management Engine Interface. I have therefore downloaded ME_Consumer_Win7_8.1_10_64_11.0.2.1000 from the Intel website on the basis that this is the one listed for Windows 7 x64 but, this refuses to install with the message:- 'This platform is not supported'  Is this message referring to the motherboard of the M58e? I am not sure what to do next. Can anyone tell me where to get this missing driver? What do I look for and where do I get it? Many ThanksTonyR

I recently upgraded a DELL Optiplex 790 to windows 10 and promptly lost the PCI Serial Port drivers. Now my PCIe slots are no longer functional.
I understand that this computer is no longer supported by dell, however, I am hoping that someone did the upgrade successfully and can help direct me as to what I can do to fix the issue.

A:Optiplex 790 PCI Serial Port Drivers Missing

Windows 10 does not install ANY driver that isnt 64 bit and WHQL Certified.
You need Microsoft WHQL certified drivers for windows 10 for your PCI serial card.
The PCI-E serial card is not from dell and not supported here.

You have to disable the driver signature enforcement in Windows 10
which makes your system vulnerable to malware.
Press the Win + C and click on PC settings.
Switch over to the “Update & recovery” section.

Then click on the Recovery option on the left hand side.

Once selected, you will see an advanced startup section appear on the right hand side. You will need to click on the “Restart now” button.

Once your Computer has rebooted you will need to choose the Troubleshoot option.

Then head into Advanced options.
Then Startup Settings.

Since we are modifying boot time configuration settings, you will need to restart your computer one last time.

Here you will be given a list of startup settings that you can change. The one we are looking for is “Disable driver signature enforcement”. To choose the setting, you will need to press the F7 key.

I checked Device Manager and saw that PCI Cimple Communications Controller had a yellow question mark next to it. I tried downloading chipset drivers and trying a bunch of different things, but they don't work. Any other solutions?

I have a Dell Desktop Dimension 8300 with XP Operating System. I recently reformated the "C" hard drive and cannot reconnect to the internet. I have a 2wire modem. Can anyone tell me where I can download the drivers for a PCI Simple Communications Controller. The modem I have is 2wire. I need to download this driver to another computer and transfer to my computer with a jump drive.

Thanks for your help.

Me again, Paul Tikkanen, and I'll probably be back once or twice more.  Same device, different computer.  (Trying to get all of these updated for my kids.)  HP 350 G1 PCI Simple Communications Controller (why is this a problem so often?) and searched for a couple of hours, even found links you left that are now dead, but hoping you or someone else can help me before the deadline tonight. p.s.  For a Windows 10 version you wrote this: And allow me to give you a bonus tip...Install the W7 ADI Soundmax audio driver. I found that works much better than the one that W10 installed. You install it, then enable multi-streaming in the adi control panel, restart again and go to manage sound devices in the control panel, and select the PC speakers, but of course installing the W7 audio driver is optional, and that is up to you... Haven't been able to discover (this was a dc7800mt) where to grab the ADI driver.

Hi: I guess you didn't see my reply to your dc7800 post in reference to the adi audio driver for the dc7800... This is the one I used... This package contains the driver for the ADI High-Definition (HD) Audio CODEC in the supported desktop models and operating systems. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45501-46000/sp45615?.exe I also have the HP 350 G1 and you need this driver for the PCI Simple Comms Controller... This package provides the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Intel Management Engine Interface enables communication between the host operating system and the Intel Management Engine firmware.  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp65501-66000/sp65854.exe

What's listed under Network Adapters? Is the driver you downloaded a Windows 7 or Windows 8 driver?

I recently downloaded Windows 7 professional x64 on my toshiba satellite a665-s6094 laptop. After the install I had several devices that I had to reinstall manually but I am having trouble with the PCI Simple Communications Controller. The hardware id is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B64&SUBSYS_FD301179&REV_06. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

My understanding is that the hardware ID you have referenced is for the Intel(R) Management Engine Interface.

You can find it here on page 6.

Hey Guys,

Just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a 2 year old machine, and I have no sound. The only driver that is missing is the PCI Simple Communications Controller, and I can't seem to find it anywhere.

I'm running the

Intel G965 motherboard 1066MHz FSB, Core 2 Duo E6300 Processor, 3GB DDR2, 400GB Sata II HD.

I have read around the forums here and can't seem to find the answer.

Anyone help?

A:PCI Simple Communications Controller

Hi there, run windows update and look for the "optional updates" on the left. You will probably see a sound driver. Install that and should be all good.

I just got big time help on one problem, so thought I would attack another problem (which may be related). I'll keep the explanation simple in the hopes that someone will recognize what needs to be done.

On startup I always get a note about hardware found, but not related software (this has happened since ME to XP several years ago. Other notes indicate ( I think) that the problems is driver for the "PCI simple communications controller".

When I go thru SYS MGMT \ DEVICE DRIVER \ OTHER DEVICES I find yellow question marks on PARALLEL DEVICES , PCI DEVICE AND PCI SIMPLE COMM CONTROLLER. The paralled device seems to be looking for HPFECB12.SYS (H-P ? - my scanner seems OK).

Where would I go from here ?? Thanks.

The only component that didn't install automatically on my x32 laptop is a pci simple communications controller (not sure what it is).

I'm not sure what driver to install that will correct this issue. You can view my laptops components, specs, and downloadable drivers.

Thanks for any help!

It's probably a modem device but to be absolutely sure, you can use DriverMax to determine it for you.

Hello ManyBeers,

This would be for your dial-up modem.

What is your brand and model of computer? I'll be happy to see if I can find the driver download link at your computer manufacturer's website.

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit
Intel Core Duo E6750
8 gb ram

Motherboard: Gigabyte 965P-DS3
Nvidia 8800GT

So in a feeble attempt to try and get my USB game controllers and mouse to work again after using a Dynex USB hub on them (and likely destroying them completely :'( ) I went into the Device Manager to try and figure out the problem.

I couldn't get my controllers to work on any computer, but thankfully the USB ports still work.

And then I see in the Device Manager, under "Other Devices,"

"(!) PCI Simple Communications Controller."

Device Type: Other Devices.
Manufacturer: Unknown.
Location: PCI bus 0, device 3, function 0

Device Status:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.

I try to update the driver.
Can't find it online.

I try to manually find a file, whatever it may be.
The location that appears by default... C:\Program Files (x86)\Marvell\Miniport Driver\

.... but it cannot find anything.

Driver Details: No driver files have been installed or are required for this device.

Details: Description (none)

Value: PCI Simple Communications Controller

It's been a really bad day, and I'm trying my hardest not to say anything rude. :( Does anybody know just what the heck is going on here?

A:/!\ PCI Simple Communications Controller

I would try the Marvell networking driver available from the Gigabyte website

Sorry you had to go through all that since it problem doesn't appear to be a printer.

Open Device Manager and right click on the unknown "PCI Simple Communication Controller" or "Unknown Device" then click Properties, then the Details tab.

In a box below Device Instance ID you should see a text string similar to PCI\VEN_1106&DEV_3059&SUBSYS_18931019&REV_60.

The information should tell us what the device is.
