Unable to locate downloaded file

Q: Unable to locate downloaded file

Hi all,

Don't know if any of you can help...

I recently downloaded something but the file didn't save to the usual place. Instead, the file has been saved to a place on my PC which I am finding impossible to locate (the downloading was successfully completed after a short while by-the-way)

According to the program I used to download the file it has been saved to...

C:\Documents and Settings\user\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5

(I'm not sure why the file was saved here!)

When I go to C:\Documents and Settings\ I am unable to find the 'User' folder and so cannot goto (or see) the other folders where this file has been saved. The only folder I can see in Documents and Settings is 'All Users'

If any one of you can help I would be most appriciated.

Preferred Solution: Unable to locate downloaded file

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Unable to locate downloaded file

I'm guessing the folder is hidden, in explorer tried going to 'tools - folder options - View (tab) - and click show hidden files and folders'

You should be able to get there now.

I have little or no experience with Microsoft Access and I need to be dope-slapped. I had no idea how to create a database so I "played around" with the program.

I tried a couple of times to create a database and saved them both times. I was able to find both files so I developed this false sense of confidence. I selected the option to use the wizard, chose some sample category, the name of which I don't remember, added 3 categories to a blank database, changed the names of all 3 and proceded to type-in about 300 entries. May I add that I don't know how to type so this took quite some time. Periodically I would click file, save, and this is what I did before I finally closed the file. Of course, fool that I am, I have no idea what, if anything, it was saved AS. I recall that I did not choose a primary key, or whatever it's called.

I am using windows xp and am unable to find a list of last files opened. i have no idea what the file is called. I have tried search using many word possibilities to no avail. I opened the Access list of databases and I find nothing familiar. I even tried opening each one but again, I can't bring up anything familiar. Is there any way to find this file or could it be lost forever?

Sign me "inACCESSable."

A:unable to locate access file

go to Start, Find, Files or Folders and in the search field, type in *.mdb, then in the Date tab check the Find All Files modified during the previous ??? days where you specifiy how many days ago it was when you worked on this database.

You should find it then.

Make sure you are looking in all local harddrives, as well as any networked drives you may have.

Today, running sfc /scannow reported corrupted files it could not repair. I followed instructions here: DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image but I am unable to get DISM to find the Install.wim file even though I can see it quite clearly in Explorer.

I used the following command: DSIM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:WIM:T:\sources\Install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

The path to the ISO on the DVD drive is definitely correct, but I keep getting an 'Error 0x800f081f The source files could not be found'.

Has anyone got any suggestions how I can fix this?

Hey all,

I've seen several tutorials online for installing themes on Windows Vista. I've patched the necessary files using VistaGlazz, and have downloaded themes from various sites. The instructions tell you to move both the folder and the .theme file into the C:/Windows/Resources/Themes folder, but all the file seems to download is the folder. Where would I find the .theme file? All of the tutorials that I've seen just seem to assume that there's a .theme file there, but in all of the themes that I've downloaded (from various sites), there doesn't seem to be one.

Help would be appreciated.

Mine is located here (look at the path on the 'address bar')

I am doing a SAMS project for school, it is Access 2010 Capstone. We are required to save the file to our computer to work on, after which, submit for grading once complete.

I am using a Toshiba Satellite A665 laptop
Windows 7-64 bit
using trial Office 2010 for the class

The problem I am experiencing is after renaming the file (following the instructions) from file name CS_Acess2010_1b_firstnamelastname_1 to CS_Access2010_1b_firstnamelastname.2 I get the following message whether I try to search for the file once saved to desktop(perference), my documents or my flashdrive. The extension is automatically added so I do not add the .accdb to the end. I get this same message for all mentioned.

error: Problem with Shortcut
The item CS_Access2010_1b_firstnamelastname.2.accdb that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
Do you want to delete this shortcut?
yes no

Please note, the file name MUST be as indicated else it will not work when submitted to check, so renaming it will not work. This has worked just fine on my Word and Excel Capstone projects.
Please help as this is due this Sunday, 11/4/12.

Do you still have the installation CD that you used to install the OS. If so I would try either doing a repair install of the OS by booting to the CD or go to the recovery console by booting to the cd and run a chkdsk /r and see if it can find and repair any bad sectors of the drive that may have been point to the DLL location.

What's your OS.

It could be an infection, scan with Malwarebytes and / or SuperAntispyware.

Alternatively, it may just be a video driver problem.

You may have an issue with DNS resolution of specific sites. This happens from time to time, and is normally an ISP issue. Let's see this:

Start, Run, CMD

TRACERT <URL of problem site>

<URL of problem site> is the actual URL of the site you're having issues with.

Right click in the command prompt, use Select All, and paste the results into a message here.

Looks like you're using either WinNT or Win2000, so Msconfig is out of the question. Looks like Regedit is the only other option unless you have something like TweakUI loaded.

Click Start -> Run -> Type Regedit -> Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Open the Software key -> Scroll down to Microsoft and open it -> Windows -> Current version -> Run. Check what's starting in the Run key, look for your ypager and delete the reg value. That should sort it out hopefully.

Good luck

I was browsing the net the other day and window popped up saying that AVG had detected a virus in C:/Documents and Settings and that a scan should be run to get rid of it. I shut down all of my programs and ran the anti-virus to search in C:/Documents and Settings. It came up empty. I then checked for updates, found one, and then restarted AVG and had it scan the whole C drive while I did some housework and showered. Coming back to the computer about an hour later I saw that AVG had "Encountered an unknown error and had to be terminated". Ok I thought, so I restarted the computer and ran AVG again and let it run while doing my homework. Again, it crashed!

Is there something wrong with my virus scan and what else can I do? I will post a HJT log asap.

Your first move should be to turn on Windows Update and get your system updated. You are still on SP2 which is no longer supported by Microsoft, the Windows Update will get you up to SP3. That alone may cure the problem.

Follow this guide to slipstream your copy of XP with SP3, that can then be used to run the System File Checker which will replace any missing or damaged files.

To run the system file checker Click on Start and type sfc /scannow (exactly as written here with the gap) into the search box and hit enter. Follow the prompts and insert the slipstreamed disc when requested.

I have Windows XP, 60GB HDD. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, just left the room, and came back in to a rebooted computer, at a screen wanting me to insert my system disk. Well, I've tried a number of things, and all end up at the same thing. I end up with an error window saying in the menu bar "lsass.exe unable to locate component" and message box saying "this application has failed to start because" and then nothing else except the ok button. I have tried safe mode, repair console, debugging mode, setup, and even tried copying the file from the system disk to the system32 file. I've also run across something else while trying to get around this. Don't know if it's because of the many ways I've tried to get around it. Along with this lsass.exe window that pops up, it's continuosly trying to start setup. I try safe mode, and it says that "setup cannot run in safe mode", and the lsass window, and when I try to start normally, it gives me a screen saying that setup is restarting, then goes to the Windows installing screen, and it has 39 minutes left, and pops up the lsass window, and doesn't do anything more. No matter what I do, I have the lsass.exe window, and setup trying to run. Does anyone have any suggestions other than formating, to fix this problem? I have searched the forum, and the internet, and have found nothing more besides that one suggestion. I've repaired my comp several times... Read more

I have setup a wireless network between two computers. I am able to share files between the computers and am able to internet share, however when I try to connect to the internet from my client computer, it states that it cannot locate the server.

I have an icon in my network places showing that it is connected. I have tried removing the firwall in case this is stopping it, but this has not resolved the problem.

Any suggestions?

I can log on to my PC as one user but when I try to switch users I get the following error message:

"CSRSS.EXE unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because basesrv was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I also cannot save files to a shared network location or view any other users files whilst logged on except the person who is logged on.

The only way I can switch users is to restart the pc. I had a reply from the Windows XP Magazine forum which suggested I might have a trojan as there is a trojan process for csrss.exe.

I have had help from the HJT group and no malware was found on my PC. I've checked all windows files using sfc but I still have the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:CSRSS.exe unable to locate component

I believe a Repair Install may be in order, you are experiencing multiple issues.

Perform a Repair Installation

Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.

1.When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.

2.Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.

3.Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.

4.In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.

5.Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.

6.Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

If you have xp sp2 installed it needs to be incorporated into your xp disk or it will not offer the repair option only the clean install.

When I shutdown my computer and restart, I get this message: "This application has failed to start because PPwebcph.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I have no idea what that means. Can you help?

A:PPWebcap.exe Unable to locate component

I think this relates to your scanner. If you’ve removed it, it may have left some remnants behind. Reinstall it. If you don’t want it, uninstall it again through add / remove programs.

How did you "delete" this software? Did you uninstall it or simply kill the file(s)? Your problem appears to be related to "Spyware Doctor". As you have somehow removed the files for this program just reinstall it. If you want it then keep it but otherwise uninstall it again (using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel). This should solve the problem.

BTW - this same question was asked and answered in these forums here.

I am having a devil of a time trying to find a replacement cap for the pointstick on my HP Elitebook 840. The one I have is black, but is so worn out that the nubs are worn off. Can anyone point me to a part number or source of a replacement cap?

A:Unable to Locate Replacement Cap for Pointstick

6 for $15: https://sofpoint.com/store/home.php?cat=5 HP does not assign it a Part Number so you have to buy from 3rd parties such as above. If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I'm running Windows XP - Media Center Edition on Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.2GHz, 1.5G RAM

Earlier, Norton 360 detected and blocked several intrusion attempts, but stated that everything was secure.

Shortly thereafter, EVERY program that attempted to open would generate the following pop-up message, "[program name] UNABLE TO LOCATE COMPONENT - The application has failed to start because msefrms.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I click OK to acknowledge this message, only to have it reappear. After several "OK clicks", however, the program usually opens and functions properly.

I restarted my PC to get into safe mode to run a virus scan, but the message appears upon Windows boot (even on winlogon, services, lsass, etc.). Again, a few clicks of OK gets me past the message and into Windows.

I haven't been able to find ANY reference to msefrms.dll on the web. I was requested to post my HJT log - any help is greatly appreciated!

I get the above message plus:

"this application has failed to start because SHLWAPI.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem"

everytime we start up my friends laptop, the computer then restarts and whatever mode i try to start it in (safe mode etc) that message still comes up and the computer reboots.

This started happening after i uninstalled windows service pack 2 because it was saying that the pack had not installed properly.

is there any way of saving the PC without wiping everything off, and if not how do i format it without any windows disk as my friend has mislaid all the CDs his laptop came with.
