360 Internet & Total security latest versions bugs

Q: 360 Internet & Total security latest versions bugs

Hello everyone.
It seems Qihoo 360 products has a lot of bugs lately and i explain what i mean:

INTERNET SECURITY:
- Real time protection seems to work good AFTER 2-3 system restart.
- I've test 360IS with sandboxie or browser in Comodo sandbox and it doesn't detect anything (only on demand scan)
- Web protection doesn't work on Mozilla or Mozilla based browsers.
- Removal speed is very slow and guess what..........during removal there is a possibility to get BSOD!!!
360 IS detected all samples but I got my first BSOD when i was trying to remove those samples found here:
http://malwaretips.com/threads/expl...ped-files-2015-02-24.42775/page-2#post-353653
TOTAL SECURITY:
King of bugs
- I've test it with sandboxie or browser in Comodo sandbox and it doesn't detect anything (only on demand scan)
- Web protection doesn't work on Mozilla or Mozilla based browsers.
- Everytime i wanted to add a program to whitelist or open the sandbox window to erase active programs Total Security was stop responding
- Memory usage was stuck on 200 - 240MB (with BD engine active only)
- Be careful of ''system optimization'' tool as it found windows system restore unnecessary and it prompt me to disable.......

Until all these fixed i will use another Vendor.

Preferred Solution: 360 Internet & Total security latest versions bugs

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi

I wonder what kind of settings can be put on this or the features that can be disabled to keep it running smoothly.

I keep installing and uninstalling this software. It slows my web browsing, makes firefox almost unusable.

My setup is a i5 6 GB laptop.

I bought 3 licenses for kis total 2016 during this march. It seems like all will go to waste lol.

I got 2 unused licenses for total security. If anybody is interested in trading for another security product, let me know. I can provide you with the purchase screenshot or proof.

some might say it's not ok but I will say it's completely ok for such kind of software.

If you like it use it. At the max some remote execution can happen, that also you can block using firewall. Just block both incoming and outgoing connections and you are safe. You should not worry about VLC much since it's a well known and reputed software.

Hi all,

I am new here and I am looking for some general advice on what I need to protect my computer. I have a Dell Dimension desktop, about 2 years old, that I use for email and web surfing, occasional downloads. I have a broadband connection (FIOS - fiber optic). Currently I have Norton Firewall (I think 2004 version) and Norton Virus Scan (2002 version). I buy the updates every year so they are up to date. I also have Ad-aware (free version) for spyware.

My question - is there any benefit to upgrading to the 2006/2007 versions of the firewall and virus protection software? Are the newer versions better in some way? I keep getting emails saying I should upgrade and I don't understand why and how that would be different than just buying the yearly update.

If I should upgrade, can someone give me some advice on what products I need? I was just on the Norton website and I am so confused - they have virus scan, firewall, and an Internet Security program - do I need all of these? If not, which ones? It seems like some of them do the same things. Any help appreciated!

I've been very carefully following all the steps your site outlines...all day.  Many times, but with no success.

The first pass found 10 faults, and claimed they were cleaned, but they made no difference - I was still infected.  So I tried again and again, but nothing was found by Malwarebytes.  Rkill still finds quite a few issues.

The infected laptop(Vista) is no longer connecting with internet, and cannot do so in safe mode w. networking either.
Therefore I can't send email, and I can't burn dds.txt or attach.txt to a cd. (although I did the scan and have the files saved, ready to go...but I can't even print them !!)   I'm using a different computer to connect with this forum, but I'm deathly afraid to make a jump stick to bring misery onto this working computer for transmission.

The infected laptop is completely paralyzed - I'm ready to pull the pin and reformat.  Actually, I might buy a new machine, I'm that desperate.  I have data backed up, but the software I have loaded will be the real loss, as many were electronic downloads and no discs are available.

OMG I need help!

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will be assisting you with your Malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while you are follow my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or Add/ Remove Software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all Logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. I hope you can help me. I am unable to find the answer from Norton's Internet Security (2005) "help" website.

I use Outlook Express 6 on my PC. I am running WinXp(sp2)and my ISP, Earthlink, had me download their Total Access program. Now their appears I have a conflict with the email Total Access program and Norton's Internet Security. Each time I close out email I cannot re-open Outlook Express without re-booting the computer. Also, I was having a problem getting email so when trying to switch identity, Outlook Express was not able to switch identity and would shut down completely - thus I would have to re-boot to relaunch Outlook Express.

Earthlink states the problem is a related to Norton's security.

Version 4.18
Released on 28 May 2015.
A security hole with the Windows print spooler has been plugged. An application could use the print spooler to write an arbitrary file outside the sandbox. If Sandboxie detects that the print spooler is attempting to write a file outside the sandbox at the request of a sandboxed application, it will issue "SBIE1319 Blocked spooler print to file".
NOTE: Some printer drivers write temporary files to their own work area, even when not printing to file. In these cases, you will get SBIE1319 even when printing normally (not to file). The print may still print successfully. In this situation, you can safely ignore SBIE1319, hide the error message, or open the folder as described below.

There are 3 ways to allow the print spooler to print to file:

1) If you trust the process that is printing, you can double-click the SBIE1320 (that follows SBIE1319) to allow the print spooler to write files outside the sandbox for that particular process. 2) The spooler can write files outside the sandbox according to OpenFilePath settings. This enables you to permanently open the folders a particular printer driver uses to store its work files. 3) You can manually add the setting AllowSpoolerPrintToFile=y to sandboxie.ini. This is not recommended as it leaves your sandbox open to a print spooler exploit.
Any error msgs generated when auto-deleting a sandbox will now be shown to the user.

Microsoft is urging Windows users to install an emergency out-of-band patch via Windows Update to address a security flaw affecting Windows Defender and Internet
Explorer versions 9, 10, and 11. Microsoft verified that the flaw is actively being exploited and could allow a cybercriminal to run malicious code on an affected PC.  However I have also read that Microsoft is only going to fix the flaw in Windows Defender
with an automatic update and you must manually download the patch for IE 11.  I can not find the correct security download patch.  I have windows 10 Home version 1903 64 bit.  If someone could please tell me the correct Microsoft KB number or

Hi Everyone;

We would like to share with you the new release CIS 8.2 press announcement.

About Comodo's Containment Technology

Comodo's containment technology ? built into CIS 8.2. - ensures that any unknown application that attempts to run on a consumer's PC does so inside a virtual environment ? without impact or disruption to the consumer. CIS 8.2 then isolates and analyzes all of the identified unknown files, destroys any malware or bad files, and allows good files to execute seamlessly.

Comodo's containment technology has been battle tested in the most hostile of security environments ? the endpoint ? where consumers are constantly attacked with the threat of viruses, spam, and other forms of malware. Since the launch of Comodo Internet Security, Comodo introduced a $500 'virus-free' guarantee to any consumer who gets infected using the product ? with no valid claims to date.

New Features of CIS 8.2

An improved antivirus engine, which simplifies the performance and increases the protection for a consumer's PC
A permanent "upgrade" button on the main user interface frame, allowing consumers to easily upgrade to Comodo Pro or Comodo Complete, whenever they want
Windows 10 Support, to complement current compatibility with Windows Vista and XP
Both Vietnamese and Romanian language support, which now makes 25 total languages supported by CIS

Using 64-bit Windows 8.1 Pro with an automatically updated Firefox, currently version 40.0.2.

Start up Firefox and...nothing. Check Process Explorer and see Firefox is there. Try to start up TCPview and...nothing. Decide to go back to Process Explorer and kill off Firefox - before I get that far - SHAZAAM! - TCPview starts, Firefox responds with browser window - all as it should be.

This has been the behavior for awhile now, admittedly intermittently but none-the-less a relatively new bad behavior.

And the REAL problem is hinted at by that TCPview issue up above - Firefox is freezing the whole system solid after a moment or two (Process Explorer can be run within that moment and displays dynamic results, windows can be switched to, but new processes (minimal testing) apparently cannot be started in a timely manner).

There are other complaints around the 'Net noting this type of behavior.

So...anyone know the reason for such powerful failure? (this should slow Firefox itself, not the entire system)

A:Latest couple Firefox versions slow/freeze whole system

Quick followup - this may be an Avast problem, not a Firefox problem, based off of searching for symptoms on the 'Net.

to install Windows 10. So I manually removed all the Kaspersky files in Safe Mode, only way i knew how to remove it. But with it seemingly removed still couldn't deploy Windows 10, me hoping this would help! The hang would still occur if left on with browser
running a music site, though this might take a long time to hang. So though I would deploy Kaspersky again and straight away Hang happened again on user startup. So againstopped/disabled at startup and services. Is there anyway I can completey remove Kaspersky
so I can rule this out. Suggestions welcome

I think that the last HP windows 7 update introduced bugs into windows explorer, it no longer displays the correct time and date for files.  Sometimes revised files display twice, once with the old time/date and once with the new time/date, or just the old time/date.  Is there a fix?  How can I return to the previous version of windows explorer that worked correctly?  I suspect that they are slipping in windows 10 updates into windows 7!!!

Hi

...now totally confused about which to use, or which ist the best deal for the money?
Right now i am using the trial version from Zone Alarm Internet Security,i like it - but it really slows my system down. I was also thinking about Bitdefender total security...since they offer a 30 day free trial version, or Internet Security Software 08.
I do like the idea of having a Security Suite, its kind of all in one , and i don"t have to hassle with x amount of programs ( still somewhat of a beginner).
I have read many ratings and reviews... just to confuse me more...seems as though depending on what webside you are looking (c/net, or pc world, or computer world...) each has its own favorite.

Can anyone help out?

Thanks in advance.

A:Zone Alarm Security Suite versus Bitdefender Total Security

Howdy AstridG James,
I have been using Zone Alarm Security Suite for a couple of years now and find it very good. I also have SpywareBlaster,Ad-Aware 2007 Pro, Spybot Search n Destroy 1.5 and WinPatrol. All the programmes seem to be needed to find different things and although Zone Alarm seems to stop most and is a gr8 AV....never had any problems with it at all...the other programmes still find different things and all work well together.

I recently inadvertently let in a virus that called itself XP Total Security. I am using Windows XP and was using Microsoft Security Essentials for Protection.OOPS!
After using another computer to search Bleeping Computer Forums, I managed to download RKill and Malwarebytes. I have ran both several times. Malwarebytes seems to remove the virus but when I re-boot it is back but with a different name. Now it is Windows Security Alerts. It has also hijacked by browser and will not let me do normal searches in my browser(Firefox) without re-directing to various other sites. I'm not sure what else to try. Now whatever the virus is - it is affecting non-web usage. While working on documents in Word or Excel, my computer will freeze and the only way I can move is to power down and then power back up.

A:Virus started as XP Total Security now Windows Security Alerts

I have also now tried Spybot and AVG. Even though they say they find trojans to remove - I am still having massive problems. Most of the time I can not log onto the internet and when I try to use System Restore - it either doesn't open or I get a pop up box that says System Recovery will not help me and then it exits. Please can anyone help?

Bloatware creates easy pwnage
Computers from many of the biggest PC makers are riddled with easy-to-exploit vulnerabilities in pre-loaded software, security researchers warn.

The research from Duo Security shows that bloatware is not just a nuisance that causes a lag in system boot-up, but a security risk. Laptops from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo all have at least one security vulnerability that can lead to a full system compromise. Most of the vulnerabilities would be straightforward to exploit even for technically unsophisticated hackers, according to Duo Security.

Lenovo copped an enormous amount of flack after it began bundling Superfish adware with some of its computers in September 2014. Superfish adware was installed on some Lenovo PCs with a trusted root certification authority (CA) certificate, allowing an attacker to spoof HTTPS traffic.

A machine with Superfish VisualDiscovery installed will be vulnerable to SSL spoofing attacks without a warning from the browser, as US CERT warned around the time the scandal broke in early 2015.

Duo's research shows the Superfish controversy was but an extreme example of a wider security problem involving pre-installed software from multiple manufacturers.

"The OEM software landscape is complicated and includes a depressing amount of superfluous tools for vendor support, free software trials, and other vendor-incentivized crapware," Duo Security researchers warn.

"Some apps do nothing more than add ... Read more

i have 2 profiles, one on firefox version 24 for a few reasons, download window, old school search bar, faster
another profile is latest version of firefox for newer viewing compatibility, which I sometimes use chrome too if both firefox doesn't work.

issue is, on firefox 24, its faster compared to latest versions of firefox (even on clean profile) and to reproduce issue is rather simple. don't maximize window and drag firefox window around the screen and watch CPU usage spikes up.

for firefox 24 the usage doesnt go up at all but on latest versions of firefox (pretty much anything after ffox 26) if drag the window around for even 5sec CPU usage will spike like crazy, like its trying to render graphic or something with CPU. for both versions I have hardware acceleration disabled already so I don't think its that.

anyone know whats going on?

Firefox 42 ... answer to the ultimate question of life, security bugs and fully private browsing?

Quote:

Mozilla has released Firefox 42 and Firefox ESR 38 38.4, which include fixes for worrying security vulnerabilities in the web browser.

The November 3 update squashes at least three bugs that can be potentially exploited to achieve remote code execution.

Two Mozilla engineers, Tyson Smith and David Keeler, uncovered two flaws (CVE-2015-7181 and CVE-2015-7182) in NSS, a toolkit used by Firefox to encrypt web traffic over SSL/TLS.

By exploiting "a use-after-poison and buffer overflow in the ASN.1 decoder," a malicious HTTPS website can potentially inject arbitrary evil code into the connecting browser and execute it, it appears. That seems a particularly neat way to install malware on PCs.

These programming blunders are fixed in NSS versions 3.19.2.1, 3.19.4, and 3.20.1, which are used in Firefox 42 and Firefox ESR 38 38.4.

Other applications that use the open-source toolkit for encrypting internet traffic must be rebuilt with a non-vulnerable version of the libraries, and pushed out to people to install.

Microsoft: Big Security Hole in All IE Versions

On Wednesday, Security Fix warned readers about a newly-discovered security hole in Internet Explorer 7. I'm posting this again because Microsoft now says the flaw affects all supported versions of IE, and because security experts are warning that a large number of sites are being compromised in an effort to exploit this vulnerability and install malware on vulnerable systems.
The SANS Internet Storm Center reports that hackers are breaking into legitimate Web sites and uploading code that could install data-stealing software on the machine of a user who visits the site using Internet Explorer. SANS's chief technology officer Johannes Ullrich estimates that thousands of sites have been seeded with this exploit to date.
For example, Web security firm Websense reports that hackers have compromised the Chinese Web site for ABIT, the maker of motherboards that power many home computers. So far, the exploits appear to be only stealing online gaming credentials, but SANS and others warn that attackers will likely use this exploit more deftly in the coming days and weeks.
According to Microsoft's revised security advisory, this flaw is present in every version of IE in use today, from IE5 all the way through to IE8 Beta 2.
Microsoft's advisory includes a host of recommendations for mitigating the threat from this vulnerability. Some of the company's suggestions did not work when I tried them on my Windows Vista syste... Read more

Microsoft Security Advisory (961051)
Vulnerability in Internet Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution
Published: December 10, 2008 | Updated: December 11, 2008

Microsoft is continuing its investigation of public reports of attacks against a new vulnerability in Internet Explorer. Our investigation so far has shown that these attacks are only against Windows Internet Explorer 7 on supported editions of Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1, and Windows Server 2008. Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 Service Pack 4, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1, Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, and Windows Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 on all supported versions of Microsoft Windows are potentially vulnerable.

This update to the advisory contains information about which versions of Internet Explorer are vulnerable as well as new workarounds and a recommendation on the most effective workarounds.

The vulnerability exists as an invalid pointer reference in the data binding function of Internet Explorer. When data binding is enabled (which is the default state), it is possible under certain conditions for an object to be released without updating the array length, leaving the potential to access the deleted object's memory space. This can cause Internet Explorer to exit unexpectedly, in a state that is exploitable.

At this time, we are aware only o... Read more
