I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

You will not get win 10 video or chipset drivers for the old laptop since they don't exist, so you have to make do with lower resolutions on the new monitor. Touch will not work on the old laptop. Time to upgrade to a new computer!

This is my second one just hours old. The first one I had was a 5559, but had 4gb ram and 500gb hdd. That one Microsoft Edge would not launch, and kept crashing. BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX. I did a recovery and reset it as it was when dell shipped it and same exact issue. I took it back to frys they couldn't even fix it. I exchanged it for this new one which is a Dell Inspiron 5559 15" same specs as the other but has lighted keyboard, 8gb Ram, 1TB hdd, without touch.

DELL, What is going on? I need this resolved ASAP. This happens when web surfing and even just in general windows. No other applications have been installed except McAfee and Word 2013, but is not running.
I'm not understanding what is going on when this occurs not even 24 hours out of the box. Windows 10 has showed that message 8 times while typing this message.
This laptop was a gift for my mother, and so far has been unreliable. I don't get a reply within 15 days I will be returning this PC and going with a different brand.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3847.  The monitor no longer shows color, it is black and white - I bought a new monitor and also tested the monitor from my other computer. all three monitors are black and white so it is my computer. I have tried diagnosing from Dell's diagnostic page. All the tests I ran said my computer is fine. One test took 10 minutes, it looks like it tested graphics - but not the COLOR. I put in my expired express tag, and it identified my computer and gave me a list of updates.  I installed Dell Digital Delivery application update, Dell Update Setup because those were dated 2016. I tried to update HD 4000 Series Graphics Driver but it gave me an error message. Said that driver was not verified for my computer and returned me to Dell's Diagnostic page. I tried that 3 times. I'd like to know how I can find out what my graphics card or video card is and how I can get an update for it. I assume that my monitors are all black and white due to something on this Dell computer. It has been black and white for about 2 weeks.

Hi,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1420 that I upgraded to Windows 10 -64bit a few months ago.  Has anyone succeeded in getting all hardware work under Win10 on this machine.  I know this laptop is pretty old and Dell does not provide drivers for Win7 and Win10 for this model (which I think is not really cool on their part).
Most of my hardware pieces work except the MultiCard reader (the slot that reads SD cards, etc).  The machine sees the hardware in Device Manager, reports it as working fine, but when I insert the card, the file manager does not detect a new drive at all.
Anyone succeeded getting Multi-Care Reader to work under Win10?  Perhaps drivers from other laptop models might be suitable?
Thanks!!

ive been looking for the driver of my video card and several programs as driver finder suggest the correct one in winxp_144211.exe, but when i try to install it i get a message that says it is the incorrect one and check the manufacturers page. I tried and looked in there but theres no support for my laptop.

Did you try the Toshiba website? Since you did not specify the operating system this is the closest I could get: http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK

Be sure to enter the appropriate version of Windows in the box.

Also, it would have narrowed down the search if you could have provided the name of the country in which you bought the laptop.

Failed to find driver for Video Controller, Dell Optiplex 280 model -Win 7 ultimate 32-bit
Error message (when attempting to play Chess or any other games that came with windows); Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow performance. Make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed.
It has been over 3 months since I have been looking for a solution. About a year ago, I moved from XP to Window 7 ultimate and everything worked nicely. Then I run into a problem which I had to reinstall windows again. I did and everything worked fine except that I cant play any games. Device manager shows video controller driver is missing. So I tried to update the driver, the system couldnt find it. I went to the dell site and there isnt anything for my system for window 7. The only driver I can find was for window vista. I tried that didnt seem to be compatible. So far I have tried pretty much everything that has been suggested on sites I came across except updating the driver through windows update which isnt feasible given the type of connection I have.
Mind you, I dont have high speed. I use CDMA and the speed I get is nothing more than dial up. You have no idea how long it takes to create an account on here and post this. I tried to google patiently but no luck. I noticed that there are also other people who are having the same problem but as I said earlier I have attempted whatever I can.

A:Failed to find driver for ‘Video Controller’, Dell Optiplex 280 model -Win 7 ultimate

The Dell OptiPlex GX280 desktop is a very old model and only has driver support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
It does not have driver support for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

It has 4 slots and supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM.
If you're going to run Windows Vista or Windows 7 in it, you need to add at least another 1 GB to the 1 GB that's currently in it.
Here is the recommended 2 GB(1 GB x2) kit for it.

The only way that you're likely going to resolve the display issue is to install a video card that supports Windows 7.

I'm working with a Dell Dimension C521 PC. It came with a PCI-Express video card which apparently has failed, yet the motherboard itself has on-board video. The system will boot using this video output (as opposed to the card which produced nothing) but when it finally gets to windows the auto-detect driver routine kicks in and begins to detect the video card, prompting the user to "Continue Anyway" to finish installing unsigned drivers. Unfortunately this event takes place in front of the installation of the USB keyboard and mouse (times like these I wish it had PS/2 ). Anyway, whether I boot up into Safe Mode or normal a prompt comes up about installing drivers for the on-board chipset. I can't interact with it because the driver install routine for the keyboard/mouse becomes interrupted.

A:Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

Bump. I've been thinking... the only way I think this can be fixed is if I boot from a Linux CD or something similar and delete a particular set of drivers for this video card. It can't prompt you to install any drivers if they don't exist, right? But I don't know where to go to delete such files and prevent them from automatically trying to install themselves. Any ideas?

Here is what's missing according to the device manager:

Network controller (wireless card I assume)
SM Bus Controller
I have downloaded all the "recommended" drivers according to the dell support system, to no avail. Im curious if anyone else has ever run into this? I have never had this kind of issue. Either windows upate finds it or the driver is available.

Hi

My Dell Latitude D610 cannot find wireless networks in range because it says no wireless adapter installed? I can't download a driver fix because I can't go online?

The laptop has worked wirelessly without problems for years. I'm guessing the driver has become corrupt and is now not recognised by Windows XP.

I tried connecting using my ethernet cable, says 100mbps connected but no Google/internet access? aaahhh I can't win.

I have been using System Restore succesfully for 2-weeks and restoring to a previous date which fixes my wireless issue. Now System Restore is telling me restore failure and is unable to help me.

Now I'm all out of options

My friend at work tells me I need to reinstall the driver for the wireless adapter. Easy if I can get online but I can't. Could I make a boot disc or memory stick on my friends laptop and what's involved as I've never done such a thing before?

I'm thinking of calling the Dell helpline or Intel helpline $$$$ but they cost a fortune.

Any help is greatly appreciated I can't afford a new laptop.

Thanks

Christian

I have just done a clean install of Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron 15R-7520 and the USB card reader was not working. When i checked Device Manager it showed a device listed as USB2.0-CRW was not installed. Windows was unable to find a suitable driver so i installed "Dell SupportAssist for PCs and Tablets" from http://www.dell.com/support/contents...support-center.
I then ran Dell SupportAssist and on its startup window/home page the Drivers and Downloads tile showed an update was available for Realtek USB Card Reader so i installed it and the USB card reader is now working.
NB. when you start Dell SupportAssist it does a scan of your system so you have to wait a minute or 2 before all items/info are available on its startup page.

The disk on my wifes Dell Inspiron 2200 crashed, so I bought a new one, installed it, reloaded Windows and backed up data. Everything went well with one exception, described as follows:

There were apparently a number of devices whose drivers were not contained on the Windows recovery CDs provided by Dell. These devices showed up with a yellow question mark in the Device Manager. I went to the Dell website for this computer and found device drivers for all the devices except for the following:

The last two devices with yellow question marks were described in Device Manager as:
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA compatible)

The Dell website for this computer is: http://support.dell.com/support/dow...mID=INSPIRON 2200&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

On this webpage, there was only ONE device driver listed under the Video category. This was R128346.exe. After I installed this driver, the only device remaining with a yellow question mark was Video Controller.

What driver do I use for this remaining device, described in Device Manager as Video Controller? As I just mentioned, I already loaded R128346.exe, the only video device driver listed. Should I run R128346 again? Would running R128346 a second time damage the installation in some way if it was NOT needed? Is there some other video driver that this website has omitted?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have a Dell Dimensions 8400 Desktop PC running Windows XP. I recently reinstalled the O/S again. Upon doing this I have had a really tough time with the Video Card driver. My Video Card is ATI Radeon X300. I have tried installing the driver for this from the Dell website and from ATI direct with no luck. Once I install the driver it seems like it installs correctly, but it really does not. It asks me to reboot and I do, but after I see windows load the screen just stays black. Then I boot into safe mode and I see in Device Manager that the X300 Driver is in correctly. I then have to uninstall the Driver just to get windows to boot up again. During the Install of the driver it does give me the warning that Windows XP does not recognize this driver (Or a very similar message). I have tried updating the driver through Microsoft Updates, but this has not worked. I have also received quite a few Blue Screen's, which I assume is the result on an incompatible driver. Could the actual Video Card be faulty. Thanks for any suggestions.

I really need help on this issue. I recently purchase a new Dell Inspiron 640M Laptop from one of my friend. Now, the laptop is locked with a HDD or BIOS password and I am unable to login. I tried many ways like using old Latitude.exe which maybe only works with Latitude laptops and accept only 5 digits Tag Number.

I will highly appreciate if someone let me know the right and effective procedure to unlock the password like any utility or shorting the pin. I call Dell and even email them on the same issue but still I have no solution. I don?t think that it is going to boot from any CD or USB Drive because after the POST screen it stuck on the Password Window and even it is not letting me to go into the BIOS.

I have a Dell Inspiron 640m that crashed the other day. The blue screen had _IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error code. At the time I didn't have time to figure out what was wrong so I shut it down and returned a few hours later to run diagnostics. However when I tried to boot it up, it wouldn't load past the Dell loading screen and I couldn't access diagnostics. I turned off and tried it again and now it won't boot anything. All I have is a black screen. The CD drive and fan will click on for a second and then immediately turn off. I tried running the reinstallation disk but nothing but black screen. Someone told me to try taking the battery out and reseating it so I did that this morning and now it is still not booting up (black screen) and I have a new problem. Hello,
I have recently upgraded to windows 10 and everything seems file except one problem I am facing which is the wifi card connectivity issues. My connection to router drops very frequently, curently the generic driver which windows think is appropriate is installed. I wanted to undate that with Dell's driver which I can't find on driver download section. 64 bit WiFi driver is NOT there. 32 Bit driver is but that won't install on my machine.
Can someone from Dell help? either to give me the link for correct driver download or confirm driver is not available in which case I would need to downgrade to windwos 8 as the system is unusable in its current state.

A:Dell Inspiron 15R 7520 SE - Windows 10 64 Bit WiFi Driver not available on Dell Site

Hello,
On the Drivers & Download pages for the Inspiron 15R 7520 there are only 64-bit options for Windows, whether 8.0,8.1, or 10.   So those drivers are the ones for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, as long as you filter the operating system option to Windows 10 64-bit.
The file name may state "Win32" but if you click on the "View Details" link, and then check "Supported Operating Systems" near the bottom of the page you'll find that the driver supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions.
You don't mention which wireless card you have in that system so I can't link directly to the specific driver.  Which card do you have and what error are you getting when trying to install the drvier?
I would also recommend updating the firmware on your router.  Many routers need an update to be able to handle Windows 10 specific drivers and cards reliably.   What router brand and model are you connecting to?  And do you have problems with all routers or just this one.
Lastly, here is a link to the Dell Networking & Wireless Support Center.  You will find a few support articles in there that may be of help to you.
Let me know which card you have and when the last time you updated your router and, if you can't get the connection to work, I'll see what else I can suggest to help you.
Todd

So I went ahead to press a key hoping it would just start windows normally-- but it just shows a blank black screen.

A:Dell Inspiron 7567 UHD model problem with 4K Video on Youtube

What kind of bandwidth do you have?  Are you using a wireless connection?  If so, what speed - and what type of Internet connection do you have (DSL, cable, etc.)-- and what speed?
4K video is a lot more demanding than FHD video -- rough estimate is that you need a spare (unused) 15-20 Mbps just for that one stream.  If your cable bandwidth is 30 Mbps (common), make sure no one else in the home is using bandwidth at that time.   If you have a DSL connection (Frontier, etc.) you can just about forget 4K streaming - you're lucky to get 6-10 Mbps total.

Are any USB ports working, or are you only having problems with the USB 3.0 port? There is only one USB 3.0 port on the 3543 and that is next to the audio jack on the left side of the notebook.  is this the port that you are having trouble with?
Windows 10 has native support for USB 3.0 so you shouldn't need any drivers. If you have recently manually installed Windows 10 you may need to install the following drivers.
Chipset driver
Intel Serial I / O driver
Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

http://support.dell.com shows that network driver for your computer, but you need to choose XP to display those drivers.

2 weeks ago,i reinstalled windows 98se with format which solved multiple problems with this computer including not being able to get on the internet.

As you probably know,i had to manually install all drivers from the computer's driver disk. everything seems to be going good with one exception:SOUND. because i am happy to be surfing again,i having no sound is an inconveince at this point.

first of all, all the dumb things for no soundon my computer(ie mute buttons,on/off buttons, etc) have been checked.
I think the problem is the sound card(Soundmax digital Audio)needs driver/driver update. i went to this site and do not know which one to chose(o,yes, the driver disk that came with this computer seems to have an omission for reinstalling the sound card driver):

how do i decide which to download and when i get the "Open With...) message at the end of the download, what do i chose??

Hi, I'm new to owning this All In One Dell, and while it has a quad core processor, I have noticed that it is lacking in the graphics department.  I know this unit is quite slim, and am not sure of one's ability to open it up and upgrade specific components inside of it.  It comes with an AMD Radeon R4 integrated graphics card, so my question is if there is any way to buy a better card to put inside of it.  Thank you in advance!

I purchased this variant of the laptop recently.
www.ozbargain.com.au/node/261518

Basically, I can't find the SATA drivers needed for the laptop to recognise my SSD when booting from a windows 7 pro usb drive (laptop came shipped with windows 10 home)

I've been following this guide.
dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-windows-7/windows-7-installation/

I've followed the instructions to use legacy boot and to turn off secure boot, however I think I need the SATA drivers so it can recognise the 128GB SSD as I've been getting this prompt.
youtu.be/J_uWgOuZM-w?t=1m22s

I can't find the "intel rapid storage SATA pre-os" driver on the dell website, like this guide states here
dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-windows/downloading-preparing-and-loading-sata-drivers/
I am not knowledgable about how the BIOs interacts with windows 7/10, and/or what legacy boot or UEFI does. I'm really just following guides

This computer came with Windows 10 installed and I have separately purchased Windows 7 directly from Dell. The Windows 7 software from Dell will not install on the Dell Inspiron 7559 complaining that at a DVD driver is missing.
I have followed a Microsoft suggestion to make a bootable USB from the DVD and install from that instead. Same problem. I still get blocked by the demand for a DVD driver.
After some investigation, I found a youtube video that suggests the problem is related to USB3. I don't know of any USB2 ports on the 7559 as they are all USB 3.0 from the specs.
How can I get this software to install?  Several calls to Dell Support has not been able to help.

Windows 7.build 7000 update

1) download any Drivers Backup software, like DriverMax which is Free
(or grab it here: h__p://***************/files/194969734/drivermax.exe.html)

2) boot your Vista or previous W7 which has working Intel drivers and "Export" your video drivers from your Drivers Backup Software, say DriverMax

3) boot to Windows 7.build 7000 and "Import" your drivers in your Drivers Backup Soft, like DriverMax
(or grab already exported for DriverMax drivers from here: h__p://***************/files/194970262/855gm_vista_driver.zip.html)

ps. any hosting for these files will be greatly appreciated or PM me if you got DL issues

So, I've got an HP dc5100 MT. It's got an Intel 915GV Video Controller on a Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Chipset, or so I've been told. The chipset info visible on the mobo seems to corroborate that. I recently went from 32-bit Win 7 to 64-bit Win 7. Video used to work fine. Now, in 64-bit, I can't load a video driver that will let me select the proper wide-screen resolution for my monitor. It will only let me go up to 1280x1024. All sorts of info say that Intel never released Vista or Win 7 drivers for this chipset, because it was too old. Yet, I know that whatever I was running on 32-bit Win 7 was working fine. Either way, I found the old post below about apparently the same chipset.

http://forums.techguy.org/windows-7/943982-solved-windows-7-driver-intel.html

I tried following that, but when I go to the device manager to update the driver, it won't let me - even if I tell it to browse to a specific folder where I download some driver, it says, "The best driver software for your device is already installed. Windows has determined the driver software for your device is up to date." And, it won't let me move forward. See - Windows doesn't tell me I have a 915GV video controller - it just tells me it has a 'standard VGA graphics adapter'. But, I figured that's just because it's running the generic driver. Anyway, it doesn't seem to want to let me fix it. Any suggestions?
