Replace WiFi PCIe card with WiFi/Bluetooth combo card.

Q: Replace WiFi PCIe card with WiFi/Bluetooth combo card.

I have a laptop INSPIRON E1705 with a WLAN card (p/n DW 1390) installed. I would like to replace it with a WiFi/Bluetooth combo card so I can have Bluetooth capability. What is the recommended card to buy that is compatible with Windows 10?

Preferred Solution: Replace WiFi PCIe card with WiFi/Bluetooth combo card.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Given that there will be no antenna inside the system for bluetooth, you're better off with one of these:

I have a Pavilion g7-1260us model QE118UA notebook.  The wireless card stopped working a while ago so, I'm using a USB wifi dongle.  Not ideal but, it works.  I recently read about a wifi/bluetooth combo card that may or may not work with my model.  Due to the hundreds of models, I cannot find specific info on MY model on whether or not there is such a card. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My PC doesn't get detect 5GHz and the increase bandwidth from my router, so I want to replace it. But before I take it apart, I want to make sure that I can do so and buy the right parts. Is this possible, and if so what should I get? I also want to add bluetooth as I remember the website had an option to do so, but bc the Costco Set Config was cheaper, I went that route instead.  Is it possible to do this internally w/o an external part [like a usb dongle] PS. My motherboard got a port called Mini PCIE. It looks similar to the standard PCIE port but is much smaller (I guess that's why it's called mini ) AND it appears to be tilted 90 degrees to the right if I'm right. So I would have to place the card vertically. Space seems to be limited. Of course I could be wrong on that.

Board type is MSI AM1i

Photo is below. The port in question is just next to the two SATA data ports. (actually on the left, in the second pictures)
I'd like to install a Wifi card there. Please tell me. How and where? Where am I supposed to place the antennas? Do you know any good cards? I didn't buy the card yet, only the motherboard

Thanks a lot

^^ The mini PCIE port is just above (again, next to the white-blue capacitors and left to the sata ports), and lies vertically in the picture with a number tag written to it

I've had a lot of problems with my wifi card for like a year so i want to replace it, i did some research finding the manual with the info and the part number https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_y40_50_series_hmm.pdfThe problem is that i have an Atheros ar956x card which is not listed there so i want to know if i can replace it with another one from the manual, i was thinking the intel 7260 would be nice because it also has dual channel (the atheros doesn't) but even if i could i don't know if i can get a new one because of the "part number", they are quite expensive for me compared to other ones like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/04W3806-Intel-Dual-Band-7260NGW-AC-BT4-0-WIFI-NGFF-Card-for-IBM-Lenovo-lapto... because i am not from the US and the shipping cost is quite expensive for me.tldl: could i replace my atheros ar956x card for the intel card on the ebay listing or anything similar.

So I've had an Acer v5 522p for just over a year now, and within the past 2 months, the wifi has gone from bad, to horrible, and yesterday, to non-existant. I've done what every other thread on this board, and other boards have said: reinstalling drivers, disabling bluetooth, disabling the power management on the wifi adapter, and I even did a factory reset. Nothing. So, I'm now looking to either buy a USB wifi adapter, or preferably just get a new wifi adapater card and replace the Atheros AR5BWB222. But, I have no idea whether the motherboard has a whitelist on replacing wifi cards or not, any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi, I purchased a Pavilion 15-ab157nr some time ago and have experienced several problems with the internet connection. I believe that they come from the adapter card, a Realtek RTL8723BE. I would like to upgrade to a better card, but I cannot find any information on what might work as a replacement. Is there a known whitelist for this model? I found the "star wars special edition" service manual but I am not sure if this would be applicable to my model. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

Hello Everyone  I just need help with my Y730 15inch model wifi card. I saw someone replace that as Intel AC 9560 on their Y530. So I thought that should work on my laptop too. I replaced with 8560 once. But I could not find that card in my driver manager. I mean somehow there should be a device logo with yellow thing there, right? (I did not install the software driver at that time.) Therefore, I come to ask if anyone has an idea what should I do first? I mean, should I install the driver before I replace it physically? Or, should I replace it first, install driver and reboot? I am still not 100% sure Intel AC9560 will work on this laptop. Also, I want to ask I do not need to reinstall windows when I replace the wifi card, right?

hi sm222,
Sorry to hear what happened,
The Wifi card that you should use should be on the whitelist and it should have a Lenovo FRU tag on it.
This is the list

Technically the model should match together with the Lenovo FRU tag

I am building a car PC out of an AMD E350 motherboard (link below...), which has mini PCIe & SO-DIMM slots as opposed to standard expansions & RAM. It is a simple, low power system, ideal for the application. I believe Win8 is the perfect platform for the application as well, since it works nicely with a touchscreen-oriented interface.

I bought a WiFi/bluetooth combo card off of eBay (link also below), but thus far, the WiFi isn't working. The BT works fine, but the wireless does not.

I verified that the driver is installed & working in Device Manager, but Windows does not give me the option to connect to a wireless network. In my Network Connections dialog, it only shows the wired LAN and the BT.

I am willing to accept the fact that the wireless driver is not compatible with Win8, but also wonder if it is a problem with the card?

A:Trouble with WiFi/Bluetooth card

Actually, I just double checked, and the driver is NOT installed for the Wi-Fi card. I was looking at the driver for the regular LAN controller. I was tricked because it is a MoBo integrated LAN controller, but the driver labels it as a Realtek PCIe.

I did download the driver exe from Realtek and I also tried the one from HP. Neither seems to load the WiFi functionality of this card.

Also, if it helps, the card is a Realtek branded for certain HP laptops.

i have been through about 3 wifi cards in the spand of 2 laptops looking for the best range and speed without the interference. i had a realtek dualband wifi card with bluetooth and i sold that to get a a Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 expecting that this would be the top of the line in wifi standards. i mainly sold my realtek because a issue with buletooth, if im using the wifi and i connect my bluetooth headset to the laptop the sound would be choppy and laggy. so when i got my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 i was amazed that this "was" no longer the issue. i connected my HBS-900 and walked out my apartment and down the hall and the bluetooth was clean! but it seems that now perhaps driver change the bluetooth on my Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 is also bad. i cant even step 2 feet away from my laptop without it cracking to hell, at 3 feet and not facing the laptop i disconnect. it was never like that before and i know its not my headset because when i connect it to my phone its flawless, and i connected another bluetooth adapter and tried and its fine. the issue is that when the wifi is on theirs too much interference and yes when i connect to a 5g network the issue is greatly reduced but for me 5g is mostly not a option. i was wondering if theirs a such thing as a shielded internal wifi? wouldn't think so... i would just love if i could use the bluetooth and the wifi flawlessly. i already for another reason plan to get a Alfa AC1200 external wifi adapter... I have recently bought a new pci wifi lan card (Ralink rt61 turbo) and have plugged in and installed drivers. Initially the drivers the company I bought it from told me to install didn't work, but after some googling found the correct drivers and downloaded from Ralinks website. However these didn't work either.

When using the Ralink wireless utility it says that the card is disconnected, however in device manage it is both connect and the correct drivers installed and everything is perfectly fine.

I ignored the wireless utility and hoped that windows 7 would still be able to use the wireless card as past experiences have shown to be true. This case however I get nothing. Windows 7 says that the wireless card is experiencing problems, it doesn't show any of the routers that should be shown.

I have been looking around a lot and there have been several drivers that should have worked and they haven't.

I would have thought that the antenna is broken or the card doesn't work however when I use it with ubuntu instead of windows 7 it works perfectly fine without any hassle, so the card is definitely working.

Any advice that anyone can give on how to resolve this would be very welcome.

I'm having a problem that's been on and off with my.wifi for a while. It's not like it needs a driver update, it totally disappears as if it's not even installed and won't show up in any OS or even under the "rfkill list command". It appears to be completely failing. Thing is I've swapped it out and it seems to be some part of the operation that mounts it that isn't working. I notice that it installs into the power board and not the motherboard. Would swapping this fix it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys,

So, what i'm trying to do is create a wifi hotspot using my computer. In other words, turning my computer into a router. I'm wanting to do this so i can use my ipod at home instead of only when i'm around other wifi hotspots.

My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.

For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.

I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.

This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

A:Creating Wifi hotspot with built-in computer wifi card.

Hi Cromsy,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

This is my first time posting so i hope its in the right place. Here it goes:

I have just replaced my WiFi card from (BCM943228HMB) to BCM94352HMB. Before replacing my WiFi card i done the following:

1. Made computer boot in safe mode with networking.

After that i replaced the card, then booted into windows 10 (safe mode with networking) and checked device manager. Everything was OK (See attached picture). I then tried to turn on WiFi, but it does not turn on. Any help is appreciated.

Hahaahahaha don't look at the other tab

A:WiFi not working after replacing WiFi card [BCM94352HMB]

Why are you booting into safe mode? I would connect a network cable to the wired network port, if possible for you. In regular windows, not safe mode, right click on the 802.11ac network controller and uninstall. Right click on the top device manager entry for the computer itself and select scan for new hardware.
