Preferred Solution: 8265 very slow on copy files on LAN, especially on upload

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Every time I need to upload something like to an email or a website asking for a document like a resume. I click "attach file" then a file explorer window opens quickly but when I try to navigate to another window it takes like 2 mins to load. This does NOT happen when I open file explore separately, like opening it just to browse through my files. Only happens when I try to upload. Please help, I've been trying to solve this problem for weeks.

I recently had a major pain with the Google redirect virus, which was operating on a non admin user profile. Through some research on here and other sites I managed to get rid of it, using MalwareBytes. It found 5 viruses in all, and once they were gone so was the redirection issue. I did attempt using Combofix, but this didnt seem to do much at all.

However, I have found as of late that my computer's upload speed is pathetic, to the point of zero upload speed. I am unable to send files to sites like wordpress and photobucket 9 time out of 10. I originally thought it might be a connection issue, but restarting routers and contacting my ISP to find no known issues has not alleviated the issue. Because of the recent virus activity, I am concerned that the two could be related.

I have tried changing Firewall settings, installed "speedupmypc2011" (which has made a great general difference), but although in IE I can now upload, speed test puts it at a god awful 0.11 upload speed. It never used to take this long.

Please can you advise me on how to make sure the machine is ok?

A:Terrible to Zero upload speeds, cannot upload files.. recently got rid of viruses

Since you have used Combofix, Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==.Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include the link to this topic in your new topic and a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. I'm transferring all of my old backed up data and software from my main drive to the second drive that is installed directly to my MB via SATA.

I get about 33-45MBps trasfer speed which to me is a little slow. In XP I could do it much faster.

I've done the TCP tweaks I found online, but doesn't seem to do much. Can someone tell me if there's any way to make file transfer much faster and what the typical speed someone should be getting?

I also found a software given free by MS that is called RichCopy, is that any good?

A:Slow Copy/Transferring of files

Why would the false network tweaks work on an internally connected HDD? The speeds you are getting are just right for the drive. A mechanical HDD only gets high speeds in small burst. If you are wanting faster speeds get Solid State Drives.

What I am confused about...Windows XP never told you how fast it was transferring...How do you know it was faster?

Basic info: SBS 2008 (64bit), XP-sp3 (32bit) workstations, gigabit switch, SEP. App is Sage Masterbuilder.

Network config: Server is 1gb to switch over CAT6. All the workstations are 100mb over CAT5. SEP is set to exclude all pertinent files on both the server and workstations.

Problem: The program is called MasterBuilder and does job costing and much more. In the job costing feature there is an option to "Compute" job costing. In version 16.x, when the "Compute" was performed the task was done very quickly. After an upgrade to version 17.x it is very SLOW. According to tech support, our network is at fault since it is a database function over the network.

Troubleshooting done: Tech support blamed our network speed (100mb) and switch. We had a Netgear 100mb switch so we replaced it with a GB switch however the cabling will not support GB. Being a managed switch I set all the ports to 100mb except the server port. Even tried the server plugged into a 100mb port and no change. I am confident there are no speed issues on our network. All other programs perform flawlessly. ACAD, Exchange, data transfers and many other high data use programs work perfectly. I updated the network card drivers in the server as well. There are no performance or resource issues on the workstations. I monitored the network traffic at the workstations, server and switch with no issues and about 2.5% utilization during the slow "Compute" process. The switch shows no error... Read more

Okay, I have my samba server setup (I have a custom config file, the default one is a pain). However, file transfers are ungodly slow. Stuff that takes 5 minutes pc to pc is taking at least 30 minutes. Any ideas on why this is?

I noticed when I copied the information from the mac back to the PC, the transfer was very fast. It's only from the PC to the mac.

Hi guys,
Recently,I noticed a significant drop in speed when copy/paste more than one files,as in the chart below. Then I tried fastcopy, and it seems my hard drives work fine.
So what is wrong with explorer.exe ?

A:copy/paste multiple files get really slow

Hmmm...I'm not sure what's fastcopy, but when you say copy/paste multiple files, you are pasting into an external source I presume? If it's within the system itself, I suggest you do a check on your hard disk.

A:Slow, brand new machine, slow upload on internet broadcast

Hi, One thing sticks out, but there are a lot of other things starting up, you do need to trim startups some...

You have two antivirus programs, Norton and AVG, are both active in the background, starting when the computer does? That alone will cause you problems....use one or the other, save the second, but set it to not run at all when the computer starts...you can do this inside the program itself in almost all cases...look in Options or Settings for the things that are checked to let the program start up and monitor in the background (active protection) and set the one disabled.

I know some folks that work a lot with startup items...you will probably be hearing from some with help for that.

I tried running Copernic a few years ago on what today is an outdated machine and it really bogged things down...used to use a lot of resources that could be better used elsewhere.

I have installed FileZilla server 0.9.41 on Windows Server 2008 R2. When I upload files to the FTP site, the time
of the file uploaded is incorrect. For example if I upload a file modified 10:37:10 PM it becomes 5:37:00 PM on the FTP site. It is always 5 hours earlier, and truncates the seconds. This makes version control of files difficult. Is there some configuration
change that can fix this, or is this a Windows Server issue? The server time is configured for the Central time zone in The United States.

I had tried a nearby network as a control source to determine if it was my hardware/software vs. my network. Though it is very low signal (neighbour's unsecured network), I had been able to use it in the past when trying out some things. Now, it was not working. This led me to believe I had a problem with my machine.

I took laptop to a friend's house and tried it on his network. No problems. Brought it home and tried again. No problems. Good news, but can't explain.

Happy that I am back to normal, but worried that I am going to experience degradation again. Any thoughts?

Go to Add/Remove programs and uninstall New.Net (NewDotNet). If it will not uninstall do this:

First Click here to download LspFix

You may not need it, but go ahead and download it just in case.
Now go here and scroll to the bottom of the page to Precedure 4 and download and run the New.Net uninstaller.

If you lose your internet connection after running the New.Net uninstaller, Run LspFix, and click Finish. (Don't do anything else)

That should restore the internet connection.

Go here and download Ad-Aware SE.

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer.

Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First in the top menu click File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.

i guys
I have exatt 256kbsp (delhi) cable lan and since past 2 weeks its becomes highly unstable with speeds dropping all the time.

There are 2 very irritating problems Im facing and not exactly sure whats causing it.
One , I cant just seem to upload even very small files since the last week .Thinking there was something wrong with imageshack.com,I tried photobucket, tagatag.com, zedge.no, and Im facing the same problem.Ater 2 to 3 mins it say Cannot Find Server (i use IE and Firefox)

Secondly, When surfing the net sometimes esp in the night when I click on any link it says Firefox Cannot connect or connection refuse or Cannot Find Server in IE. This is damn irritating and I keep on clicking on it until I connect.

Afetr contacting the guys the prob is geting weirder. I noticed Ive been able to upload all picture files as email attcahments , or on image shcak but when uploading a document , or midi thru email or any other server fireforx says Document Contaions No Data while IE Freezes. Its weird cos I was able to upload the same things before!

Whats going on? Should I change my lan card or something?

I was creating equations on MathType for the purpose of uploading them to my website on Geocities. When I try to upload them, it says "invalid file", and they don't upload. I'm able to upload other files. I initially thought they were jpg files, and saved them as "ktheory1.jpg". When I looked at the MathType website, it didn't mention jpg, but said they could be saved as gif files. Then I tried changing the names, say from "ktheory1.jpg" to "ktheory1.gif", but they still would not upload. If I save a gif file or jpg file from anywhere on the Internet, I can upload it, and it says "uploaded successfully". If I try to upload any of the equations I created with MathType, it says "invalid file", and doesn't upload it. However, I know there is nothing wrong with the files because I can email them. I tried creating an email, attaching one of the equaions to it, and emailing it to myself, and it worked just fine. It was able to upload to the computer for the purpose of attaching it to the email, and then when I received the email, I could open the image, and view it just fine. I don't understand why it won't upload when I try to upoad it to my homepage. I can upoad other files to my homepage. When I try to upload other jpg or gif files, it works just fine.

A:Can't upload files

MathType definitely creates GIF images, not JPEGs. It sounds like it might be a Geocities problem. Feel free to refer Geocities to our tech support department: [email protected].

My computer using USB WiFi. Everything used to be fine. Suddenly about a month ago my down and upload speeds dropped ever week. Finally Landlord had their 'computer guy" install a new antenna. Download speeds varied up to 17+ Mbps but varies throughout the day. Upload speed abysmal, usually below 0.3 Mbps.

I have a recent problem in I.E. 6 - images contained in web pages are slow to upload, although they do appear eventually.
I have not recently installed any software or similar. Have run various spyware checks.

However, at someone elses suggestion, I have recently run Start>Run>Regedit> and made sure HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.gif, and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg are entered.

Grateful of suggestions

I am comparing the download and upload speeds (zoomtown) of my work laptop (Dell D620) and home latpop (Sony FW). My Dell is 3 years old, my Sony is fairly new.

Here is the results of the test:
My home laptop: download 3700 kbps; upload: 117 kbps
My work laptop: download 8200 kbps; upload: 2230 kbps

This is about the average I get each time I test.
Both laptops are connecting through the same Netgear g Router.
Both laptops are next to me during the test while the Router is near me.

Does anyone know what is likely causing the disparity?

Thanks much.

A:Slow Download & Upload

It'll likely come down to one of these factors:

1) The NIC driver on the D620 - have you updated to the latest driver?

2) Interference from the anti-virus on the D620. Try to completely uninstall the AV as a test - is there an immediate and substantial increase in speeds?

3) The use of network "optimiser" utilities on the D620 - they've mangled the default settings.

4) Other security or inspection utilities on the D620. Try booting to [safe mode + net] and testing from there.

One key bit of info that's missing is whether the "work" D620 behaves normally at work. In other words, is the sub-par network performance limited to your own home. If so, that points at a completely different set of problems compared to "slow irrespective of location".

fir the last 2 days my internet connection has been very slow moving. I have a cable modem and usually everything works smoothly.
I ran a speed test at dslreports. com and this is what I got:

2003-06-01 20:13:33 EST: 1497 / 12
Your download speed : 1497176 bps, or 1497 kbps.
A 182.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 12421 bps, or 12 kbps.
Your upstream result was very slow! .. not good
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!
Any ideas on how to fix my upload speed. I got IE 6 and windows xp.

I'm having trouble with slow upload speeds on my vista ultimate x64 machine. My ISP is providing a 25/25 connection and the download is working fine but the upload is only at ~1mb. My router is provided by my ISP(Verizon) and just has their name on it with a model number of MI424WR on it. I have other computers running XP on the network that can upload/download just fine and if i plug the ethernet cable thats in my vista machine into my laptop that's running XP it can upload/dowload just fine. The slow upload occurs when trying to transfer files over the network as well as when online. I had Avg anti-virus installed but have since uninstalled it and have not seen any change in the upload speed. I also tried turning off Remote Differential Compression but it seemed to have no effect on the upload speed.

My system specs are as follows:

ASUS P5N-T Deluxe NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI Core 2 Quad Socket 775 1333MHz PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) ATX Motherboard
INTEL Core 2 Extreme QX9650 3.00 GHz 1333 MHz Socket 775 12MB
BFG GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB PCI Express 2.0 Video Card
WESTERN DIGITAL VelociRaptor 300GB SATA II 10,000 RPM 16MB Buffer Hard Drive
PATRIOT 4GB PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066) DDR2 Memory

Any help or comments are appreciated Thank you

It could be a driver setting, check the device manager for the ethernet adapter's settings and check that everything is correct. I know some cards default to full 10/100 duplex, maybe something went wrong was accidentally changed.

Hope this helps. If not post back

Hey guys quick question. On Windows 8.1 for some time now I have found that the upload window is super slow to respond. I upload/download files often for work, typically recently saved documents. Problem I have is that when I go to upload the file to email, the window defaults to sorting files by file name. I am unable to sort it by most recent for at least a minute, sometimes just a little less. After I have uploaded a few files I am able to sort by date. Otherwise I have to scroll down are type in the first few letters of the file name.

I am using G-Mail on Google Chrome, and at first assumed this was Chrome issue. I also tried on Opera, and found the window does the same thing...so it's definitely a Windows thing. Any ideas on how to get my window sorted by date either by default or at least quicker....?

Hi, I use smc 7004VBR router. I have the latest firm wire, opened all recommanded ports from MSN offical site and has opened ports on my Sygate 5.5 pro firewall.

Althought I do get fast uplaod speeds from some of my friends, but majority of them are still getting speeds 1kb/sec.

Anyone got any clues why?

A:MSN upload SLOW behind SMC router!

What speeds do you get when you connect directly to the broadband modem? Have you checked the MTU size in the router? MTU in the router should normally be 1500 for cable modems, and 1492 for DSL.

Recently I noticed that my Internet's upload speed is EXTREMELY low. No problem with Download, I have almost a 3M Download. But i ran a speed test on Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test, and downlaod was fine, no problem, but i simply wouldn't upload. I tried sending an email with a small attachment, very slow, took like 30 minutes to add the attachement.

I have AVG 8.0 Internet Security, with everything turned on.

i have telus with a wireless modem that they provided. i get 12.44mb/sec for download wich seems pretty good to me but my upload is always lower then 1mbs. is there a way to get better upload for gaming?

A:slow upload with telus

Probably not, typically downloads are much faster than uploads for most services.

Let's see this.
Run this Berkeley ICSI Netalyzr and let it complete, it'll take several minutes. At the top of the results page, you'll find a link named Permalink, as illustrated in the graphic below. Click that link, then copy the link address from the browser address bar and paste it here.

I am on a company network and when I do a speedtest (at www.speedtest.net) I get a great download speed (6200 kb/s) not I have virtual no upload speed ( 7 kb/s) while others on the same network in the office (we are 7) have simular download speeds and upload speeds of 378 kb/s. Any idea's?

A:Slow Upload Speeds

Not offhand, but I'd talk to the IT folks, there could be a variety of reasons. For what I hope are obvious reasons, we don't get involved in tinkering with company networks.
