I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I work in an organization that over 80% of the PC's we support are Dell Optiplex's. With SCCM, we deploy Windows 7 to these computers through a Task Sequence and that set standard Dell BIOS settings in WinPE using the Dell Command Configure tool. This has worked great for having all our machines in legacy mode, but with trying to move to Windows 10, I want to be able to change the Dell BIOS from legacy to UEFI automatically through the task sequence. I can set the BIOS to UEFI mode, and I can enable secure boot and all the other settings, but for some reason as soon as I restart the computer after making those settings changes, the computer cannot find the hard drive anymore. After the computer reboots, it enables the NIC card for PXE boot, but not the hard drive as shown below.

So here are my basic steps for accomplishing this so far.
1. Reboot computer into Windows PE
2. Format the drive with MBR so I can download the CCTK files
3. copy CCTK files to X:\CCTK
4. Clear and set the Dell BIOS password
5. Activate UEFI Mode
6. Set boot order and all other settings by importing custom ini file.
7. Restart Computer
Attached is my Task Sequence log to be looked at well. Below are my task sequence settings to make the change from legacy to UEFI on Dell Optiplexs. I have tried this on multiple Optiplex 7010's and 7020's with the same results. If anyone has any suggestion on how to change BIOS from legacy to UEFI in a task sequence o... Read more

So while I understand what you want to do, i'm not sure what you want to do if that makes sense.  I will add my 2 cents in however.  From everything i've read, UEFI uses GPT as the file table for the HDD while BIOS uses MBR.  My first thought would be if you are using UEFI on a hard drive that is formatted to MBR, maybe it cannot read it as a boot drive?  I have heard that UEFI can see it as a file drive, but nothing has been said about booting from MBR if you are using UEFI.

I have 4 M900 (10FG), out of the box, with the BIOS level at 41A. I upgraded two of them to the latest, 79A, and left two as is. I can install Win10 via PXE boot with the two desktops whose BIOS level is at 41A. The two with the BIOS level 79A, will not get the task sequence started. I have tried everything, by comparing BIOS settings to CLEAR CMOS but they do not work. Lenovo website offers only the 76A BIOS, but nothing older than that. I want to downgrade the BIOS level to 41A, install my Win10, then upgrade it to the latest. I have done that with the other two desktops with no issues.

Hello! I'm currently tasked with a mass BIOS upgrade to 500+ HP Spectres x360 Convertable and I was hoping to do this using SCCM 2012 as I previously have done for other desktops and notebooks Previously I would have created a cmd file using either hpqFlash.exe or HPBIOSUPDREC.exe, however, I can't get either to work: hpqFlash.exe - The BIOS is downloaded from HP in an exe format which I can get extracted to .bin & .sig files, but this tool requires a .cab file HPBIOSUPDREC.exe - After extracting the BIOS to .bin files, this tool complains that they're not in the correct BIOS 2013 naming convention and I get about 4 of each? So.. Has anybody previously managed this? Do I need to rename the .bin files to the correct naming convention, if so, how would I find this out? Thanks in advance!

Hi A customer of ours is attempting to update the BIOS as a step in a SCCM 2012 task sequence. They are using the /sccm switch to suppress the automatic reboot after the BIOS update utility is executed as the SCCM task sequence will not continue after an unscheduled reboot. The BIOS Update utility used in conjonction with the /sccm switch requires a shutdown (not a restart) to complete the BIOS reflash and SCCM 2012 does not support shutdown in the middle of a task sequence. Does anyone know how a BIOS update can be achieved within a task sequence? Thanks Christian

Which version of Windows 7 are you using? Find out what version of Windows 7 you're running...

Go to Start and type winver in the search window.

If you're running Windows 7 Ultimate or Pro go to Start and type gpedit.msc in the search window. Open the group policy editor and make sure the Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/Remote Assistance/Solicited Remote Assistance group policy is set to either Not configured or Enabled.
Note that if you're part of a domain environment group policies pushed from the servers may override whatever changes you make.

If you're running Windows 7 Home Premium you can configure this in the registry because you cannot use the group policy editor. Go to Start and type cmd in the search window. Right click on cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. At the command prompt type regedit. Navigate to the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Terminal Services path and make sure there is not a DWORD named fAllowToGetHelp. If there is delete it.

(always backup the registry before making any changes)

Here is a guide which should be somewhat similar to what you want, depends on your mac OS.
Connecting Remotely to a Windows 7 Desktop from Mac OS X

However, why not just use something like Teamviewer? Its much easier/quicker.

Just download Teamviewer for Mac + Win7 and all you need it the ID and Password and you're connected in seconds.

Hi,

Simple question really, just wondering if it is possible to allow the user to watch what your doing on their PC when you've connected via a remote session.

i.e. I'm on PC A and I'm controlling PC B, but I want my colleague on PC B to be able to see what I'm actually doing (rather than just viewing the login screen / logging in and interupting my session).

If not, is there any FREE (and safe) software that does this.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there,

On Linux, we can easily enable remote access to MySQL server, but on Windows, I got no success so far ( a client tried to connect to MySQL on the server)

Here's the steps to do that (on the server computer):

1. Open a DOS command prompt on the server.
2. Run the following command from the mysql\bin directory:
mysql -u root --password=
3. A mysql> prompt should be displayed.
4. To create a remote user account with root privileges, run the following commands:
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'USERNAME'@'IP' IDENTIFIED BY 'PASSWORD';

'USERNAME' is the username to be created.
'IP' is the public IP address of the remote connection.
'PASSWORD' is the password to be assigned for this username.
(IP can be replaced with % to allow this user to logon from any host or IP)

mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
mysql> exit;

So it is. But I couldn't connect to that MySQL from another computer, both are Windows XP.

If you have any experience, I'd like to receive your help.

Thanks in advance.

From my knowledge if the CPU would support the Intel VT, then this would be enabled by default.
But your CPU Intel? Core2 Duo Processor P7450 does not support the Intel VT-x and this is mentioned on Intel page:

Can you guys show me the way to enable wireless at BIOS?

A:How can I enable wireless at BIOS

Ngoctraiden9x, welcome to the windows 7 forum.

The bios is where the hardware is turned on/off/configured in most cases. For your computer to use the wireless, you have to have the hardware drivers installed and the software to control the wireless adapter.

Normally, when you turn your machine on the bios recognizes your hardware devices and then as your Operating system loads, it load all the drivers for your devices and at that time your wireless would become active.

Is this what you meant when you said enable wireless at bios?

Some bios screens will allow you to turn on and off devices. If this is what you mean, then by entering bios, go thru the screens and look for the wireless. Some machines have a physical wireless switch or a function key toggle.

Normally, your USB BIOS would only be required to allow BOOTing a USB HD.

Your Belkin USB is not accessed at BOOT time, so stop fussing with BIOS.

If you have modem-->router setup, then the drivers are not required at all!

Use the Modem->Router using Ethernet cable and from the router->pcs as well.

Otherwise, modem-->pc(USB connected) requires a driver.

Does this clarify/help?

I have obtained a few old panasonic cf-27 toughbooks. None of them included the hard drive caddy with the proprietary ide connector needed to install a hard drive. Instead of buying the caddies, I thought I would try to boot into a linux distro from a USB flash drive. I had to use a special grub floppy because there is no cd drive, only a floppy. After all that, I discovered that the USB host controller is not turned on when it first boots up. I tried to find BIOS updates that would activate usb booting, but no luck. I thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas as to how I can get these laptops to boot from a flash drive. I figured if I could get the base address for the usb controller, I could edit the BIOS binary file that I have now to see if I could enable it, but I don't know how to get the base address. Any ideas?
