I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have windows 8.1 pro.
When I type here now in this forum a message in English it's starting like it should be from left to right.

But if I will change here the language to Hebrew(My home language) it will keep writing from left to right but it should be from right to left.
In another forum when I start a new message and type in English it's starting writing at the right side and move left.
And I don't have any option to change the write direction I did with the mouse right click but no option.

Is there any way to make that when I change the language between English and Hebrew it will change the direction of writing automatic and will move to the beginning of the line automatic ? So I will not need to change and set it all the time each time.

A:How do i change the language direction writing ?

For example in this screenshot it's not this forum and there when I type in English for example hello world so the first letter H was first when typing it on the right end side of the line and when I keep typing the rest it's pushing the other letters to the left. When it should all start from the beginning to type from the left to right.

Dear people. I am going nuts over a problem I have with my lap top computer. I have Windows XP SP1 with all updates and Fujitsu MHN2300AT harddisk in the system. The system writes to harddrive about every 10 seconds for no apparent reason with an ANNOYING click sound and I have tracked following down by using monitor software. Dunno if this is correct but...

system (4) writes to c:\$LogFile when this happens - no such file ?

I have tried almost every possible trick, tweak or tip thrown at me, including

- running Antivirus - nothing there
- running spyware check - nothing there
- killing all possible processes / services etc.
- checking firmware for the Fujitsu drive
- laptop forums discussing this annoying habbit
- disconnecting HD (kidding...)

What an earth I can do - this sound is driving me nuts... Backup is made so if the drive fails no big deal..

Got a Windows XP machine here, and the fonts are huge on it - the strange thing is it (now) has all the settings correct - standard Windows XP theme, bars all sized correctly, correct resolution, correct font sizes etc. It has just had Welchia removed, so that may be the cause, but I've never seen that before.

Also, is that the right font even?

Nortons is up-to-date and doesn't detect anything else. And also, the system is incredibly slow (even for a 1Ghz Celeron).

Thanks for any help.

I have a problem that I'am concerned of. Today this morning when i powered on my computer, it all went fine and so on but when i was going to chose which account i wanted to log in on it just froze. By that i mean that it was all blank... All i could see was this background without the log in icon. So i restarted the computer and did the same thing, I could log in the second time. I went to event log to see if there was any logged errors/warning, but nothing.

I haven't had problems for half a month now everything was just floating. But today got me really concerned, if its anything that could solve it please tell and help me how to fix this problem.

By the way I have the latest drivers for MB, GPU and Audio. The new device is NETGEAR WNDR 3700 v3 with latest drivers on. I also have wireless attached devices on the NETGEAR WNDR 3700 v3 such as the buggy mobile phone, worst phone ever made Sony Ericsson WT13i and the Packard Bell laptop itself.

Reboot and at your system name logo screen start tapping F8 select "Safe Mode" Then proceed to these steps at these links first you will need to activate the built in "Administrator" account, then do a full system scan with your anti virus program,

Hi All,

I have a really challenging problem here and I'm so frustrated with it that I'd love some help!

Running windows 7 and the computer keeps hanging, but I don't mean freezing. The window that I'm on will fade and the blue circle will come up as if explorer is having problems accessing something, then it will become unstuck and be fine again for a minute or two. This is much worse if in a game or another program.

In eventvwr I can see it's giving lots of errors saying writing to files is taking abnormally long. Note that it's managing to do it but taking ages, hence then hanging rather than the freezing or crashing.

Fixes tried:
I thought of course that it was a hard drive problem so I've tried different sata cables and even a freshly formatted different hdd but I'm still getting the same problem.

Should I be thinking about a new motherboard? This was a mobo/ram/cpu bundle from overclockers just back in March so I'm hoping it's not a hardware problem at all but it's looking more likely.

I've also ran Samsung's hdd utility which found nothing on the first pass but then said there was a problem on the second, but that was only because the computer hung again during the test, not because there's errors on the drive.

I did have this problem a wee while back but not as bad. I re-seated the sata cable and it died down after that but this time it's worse and it's not going away!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated as I'm at my wit's end with this!!

Try this ...

open notepad and type in the following (italics mean you need to find the right value):

xcopy drive:\path\dvevi6 drive:\path /s/e/c/f/y

The italicized drive:\path are the source and destination paths.

Hi guys, I'm having a two fold issue that seems to stem from the issue in windows 7 where it wont allow you to over-write a file after opening it up for editing. Hopefully this topic has been discussed to death here and my google searches were oblivious to the answer, but im not able to find it. We've been turning off the preview pane by "changing views" in the windows explorer (which i might add, windows seven likes to "Forget" and return it to ITS' desired settings) but now im also having problems saving simple meta-data into files such as keywords and tags in adobe bridge and i believe its related to this very same issue. It's as tho a "preview" is being generated somewhere, (else?) and now that we've turned the preview pane off, i cannot tell where its coming from. Does anyone know if this is related to "windows aero peek?" or any of those "advanced" settings in visual performance tab of the "My computer" properties?

any help is as always, greatly appreciated,

I have a problem when saving files in Windows 7. say I have a png with the name "alduin & khajiit 1.png" and I highlight it to grab the file name but I change the "1" to a "2" for a file name "alduin & Khajiit 2.png" in the file name field, Windows 7 still asks if I want to overwrite it despite the different file name. if I say yes it overwrites the file despite the different file name but still has "alduin & Khajiit 2.png" as a file name and "alduin & khajiit 1.png" is gone (overwritten). how do I fix this?

I have an odd problem.

If I use the windows 8.1 built in CD / DVD burning feature I can write to DVD -R with no issues (including creating a finalised ISO disk).

If I try to use ANY third party product to burn on CD / DVD the software writes the session to the disk but then hangs completely when trying to close the session. The drive just shuts down and the software is sat there doing nothing. The process can't be killed in task manager and the PC wont even restart. The only way to restart is to cycle the power on the PC.

The DVD drive is the second of 4 SATA Drives in the system and I suspect its the fact that it is SATA that is the problem.

This is independant of the media make or type I use. I know its not the drive because it works using the built in windows 8 feature. It also use to burn o.k. using imgburn and cd burner xp when I had windows 7 installed.

Has anyone encountered this problem and know what could be the cause?

Thanks in advance for any help given.

This one has had me stumped for a few days.

My new Lenovo T520 is behaving weirdly. It just randomly started happening on the evening of the 14th, and has continued since. My computer turns on, and everything loads, but then it just siezes up. I was able to open Task Manager, it shows my CPU Usage at 0%, and my memory usage at about 40% with 70 processes running.

Opening up Resource monitor, under disk, i shows my disk is constantly reading and writing. At first there was an SVCHost that was constantly reading - Superfetch, so I disabled this. I saw improved performance for one day. I did a system restore back to 3 days ago, and saw performance improvement once again for 1 day. I removed everything from startup, and turned off as many services as I could.

Under device manager, in the driver section, I found an error with the Security something driver (I cannot remember exactly, and my computer will not let me browse anywhere) so I uninstalled this driver. (I was going to update it in safemode, but it will not let me)

In the system event log, ever since the 15th, I am seeing lots of events, these events were for Computer Browser services not starting - services which I did not disable. (Maybe I did, but I set all services I turned off to Manual not Disabled, so it should have started when it was called).

Right now Resource Monitor shows these items writing to disk

so I have issues about hidden files (I always want to see them), and I'm particularly annoyed by this desktop.ini file. As if it wasn't enough that there is one in almost every folder, in Windows 7 there are TWO of them on my desktop!

Also, Windows 7 is always trying to burn/write that file on every removable media I have, including USB memory sticks, external hard drives, CD's, DVD's (and the fact that they aren't rewritable and have been burned and closed by the factory doesn't seem to stop it from getting that file ready to be written to disc), etc. Am I the only one thinking this is insane?

My question is simple - how do I stop Windows 7 from ever creating another one of these files again (that is, until next reinstall or some such thing, I'm just trying to be dramatic)?

Yes, I know I will lose some customization functions, but the fact is - I don't need them (which is why I want to see hidden files - to delete them if I don't need them). I know what's in what folder, thank you very much. And yes, I know I can go to Control Panel and set it to not show hidden files, but that's exactly what I don't want.

So, just show me which option to un-check and I'll be happy and I'll buy you some e-beer.

A:[SOLVED] How do I open Windows XP CD Writing Wizard?

Hi Rude,

The Writing Wizard only opens when you're ready to write files to CD.
Remember that XP can't write DVD's.

As a test, insert a blank CD and Drag some files to the CD Drive .
This should start the whole writing process. Either a bubble will appear in your system tray stating there are files waiting to be burnt to CD, or you can see the option Write These Files to CD in My Computer.

Alternatively, use a CD Burning program such as Nero or Roxio.

i have written a boot loader and a seperate installer to write it to the first sector of the hard disk. this is dos based and works fine when run in native dos. however, seeing as times have changed and windows xp is the latest and greatest (allegedly) i have decided it's time to re-write the installer for windows. all i need to do is write my 512 byte binary bootloader file directly to the first sector of the disk. simple

the problem is, windows xp doesn't like direct writes to the disk. does anyone know how to get around this? according to the microsoft site direct writes are allowed (as long as you are a system admin), you simply create a handle using createfile () and then read/write with readfile () and writefile () but i have had no success just yet. i take it this is a security problem as the same code works fine on floppy disks.

if i could find a decent windows reference, i'm sure i could figure it out in a few minutes, but microsoft seem to like hiding information which tells you how their software works.

any help is appreciated

I think I got infected with some kind of virus many months ago that is affecting my c drive.
I have both eset and malwarebytes and one day all of a sudden when I ran my full scan with malwarebytes, it was taking DAYS AND DAYS into weeks for it - and it would never finish, but it would get hung up on program files/windows media player and it would look similar to this in the scan area while it was scanning "program files/windows media player/windows media player/windows media player/windows media player/windows media player/windows media player/windows media player/windows media player/" with a random numbers and hyphens between them like it was breeding out of control.
I did a lot of research over the months on this and the best I can come up with is some information I found on another forum and also from a couple years ago on bleeping computer that it's some kind of malicious rootkit perhaps that gets into windows operating systems and continues to write to a file until it uses up all your c drive. That's exactly what this thing is doing.
I downloaded Kaspersky's TDSS and even renamed the application before running it as an admin. It found nothing - though I wasn't surprised. This thing is very cleverly hidden.

I wasn't sure if this was the right forum to put this in, because I don't know if XP or Outlook Express is causing the problem, but here it goes. One of the doctor's for the company I work for has an IBM Thinkpad laptop with Windows XP Professional. She was writing an e-mail today, and all of a sudden, the cursor on the e-mail started to type itself. It wasn't quite typing gibberish, but it was typing sentences that didn't quite make sense (as if a scitzophrenic were talking) all by itself. It is the most bizarre thing I've ever seen before. Can anyone give me any advise? I'll be happy to answer all questions, because I don't have a clue.

A:Windows XP/Outlook Express Ghost Writing

First thing I would check is to see if the computer has voice recognition enabled and if there is a mic on the machine that is picking up backround noise (t.v., office conversation, etc.). Many people have experianced this "ghost". I red a story where a couple had a new computer and it started typing their e-mails. Some of it was giberish and misspelled words and then they started seing things like CIA and got worried. This was around 9/11 and they had CNN on 24/7 and it was picking up reports from the t.v. Hence the CIA words.

Hi there and welcome to the Vista Forums!

The first thing I would tend to recommend there would be booting from the Vista dvd and going into the repair tools section for the automatic startup repair tool option found there. From the "GRLDR" seen at the top it looks like you had tried out Linux at some point or are seeing some other problem with the boot information.

There's something odd going on on my Windows Vista system.

So far, two things are going on:
*I can't maximize windows. When I try, it maximizes for a split second, then minimizes again. The same happens when I try to open the start menu.

*When I try to write - in a search field on Google for example, space characters appear randomly after every 2 or 3 characters I write. It seems to also randomly press Enter when I write. I suspect this is related to the above problem.

Has something taken over my system?

Thanks for any help!

But as I said, I am new to PHP. I want to set it up so that it'll take the values of what is entered in the form fields, when submitted, and replace that over what is currently entered in for the variable in the configuration script. If you could me or assist me with this or let me know of someone or a website that can, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi Guys

I had probs with my lg dvd writer, sometimes when you put a dvd in it would play and sometimes not. This was the same with writing and copying dvd's.
In the end I gave up threw it out and bought an NEC. dvd rewriter.
It worked great for a few days then, when I put a blank dvd in it would not run. when I clicked the drive icon it says."Incorrect Function"
If I burn a dvd, the process all works fine but when I put it back in the drive it shows that the disk is empty, and whatever I burned onto it is not there.
Now when I burn a "CD" in the same way there is no prob and it burns just fine.
the dvds I burned before it went haywire all play ok. and a normal film wil play fine. I have tried different makes of dvd's but still same prob,
sorry if I havent explained it well but I will elaborate if you ask me.

PS had the NEC for about 2 weeks

I would like to write by typing ~ + n, just like + e gives .I claim that this worked fine on all other systems I had since the good old Windows 3 times. Even on Linux/Ubuntu that works. My system is:HP Envy 4Windows 8 (6.2.9200)Keyboard DEU (German) By the way when I switch to Keboard DAN (Danish) this works nicely. Therefore I assume the reason is related to the keyboard-DEU driver.I see no reasons that users with German keboards should not have the benefit of easily writing an . Is there some good solution to my problem.Thank you very much for your assistance.

I am trying to copy some video clips from my hard drive to a new blank DVD(+R) for a friend. However, using the Windows 7 operating system, it won't recognise any of the discs and fails while formatting. At first I put a new disc into the drive and then 'right click' on the video file and send to the E:/DVD drive. It then writes the file to a sub menu and highlights that a file is ready to write to the DVD.
I then click to 'burn' the file to the DVD, and a notice comes up saying 'Please insert blank disc' or it starts writing and just before finishing it says 'Error writing to disc'. It gives me three options to write again to a new disc. I am now on the 7th disc and the others are unusable.

What is going on and why won't it do this simple task?

I am using an ASUS A54C laptop with Windows 7 64 bit premium loaded. The blank discs are standard 'Datawrite' DVD+R 4.7GB single layer discs. I have also tried other discs including -RW, +RW and Dual layered , all of which are now unusable.

Please help if you can! I am copying a Word 2000 file to a CDRW disk but each time it indicates the result is a "Read Only" file and will not let me change anything...the original file is NOT Read Only as I have edited it many times. I am attempting to copy this file (32 MB) so that a person in Europe can edit it before publishing the newsletter. I have Windows XP and am using the software that came with the computer.

How can I change the file in order that another person can edit it?

My HP running XP has recently stopped burning CDs/DVDs. I'm using the drive that came with the machine. I've been burning on this drive for years. Yesterday I received an error when trying to burn a DVD. I have since tried three different DVD software packages, multiple discs, and just tried writing to a CD using windows explorer - same result (error and no burn). The devices plays DVDs, and recognizes the blank media.

I have not installed new software or configured/changed anything...however this PC is also used by the kids so they may have done something (altough they claim they haven't).

Any suggestions?????

A:CD/DVD not writing

You're CD/DVD drive is going bad from the sounds of it. I would purchase a new one being that they are relatively cheap, and if your drive has some age on it 3-4 years or more I would definately suspect the drive is failing which will give you errors. If you have another computer or another CD/DVD drive you could try out that would be great, but if not I would suggest buying a cheap one and replacing it.
