Adjusting Palm Rejection on Yoga C930

Q: Adjusting Palm Rejection on Yoga C930

As a new owner of the C930, I'm very much enjoying the experience. Last night I started to play around with the Pen and doing some sketches and drawings using some built-in Windows 10 apps. The experience was fine especially after I adjusted some Pen settings in Windows 10. But one thing I noticed was there were some blemishes outside of my main drawing where possibly my palm was on the screen. Small blemishes which I could "erase" but just wondering if others have the same issue and how you solved it. Thanks in advanceAmar

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a yoga 720 and a bamboo ink stylus for it. i had recently sent the unit in to get the hinges replaced as they were warped. I recieved the laptop back and did the latest windows 10 update, however now when i rest my palm on the screen to write it glitches causing what i write to not appear. This was not an issue before sending it in. I am wondering if this is possibly something caused by sending the laptop in or a software issue. It works fine when i write without placing my palm on the screen.

Hi,My ideapad lenovo yoga 720(13 inches) had wifi problems and a "pen writing" dead zone when I used to write with my palm down. After talking with lenovo support, I ve decided to send it to repair.Days passed and I ve kept checking the repair board seeing messages as " looking for parts" then " repairing" and at the end "repair completed see notes" . But repair notes said " Verified orderly functioning. Taken functional tests for the device. "Now I am worried that they didn't repair my laptop. So I was asking myself "what did the message looking for parts meant"? Hope to hear somebody who had/ is in my same situation. Here's a video with the main problem. I received the PC. They didn't repair it because they marked it as "working unit". I am mad of this. Palm rejection is not working correctly or pheraps is the entire Display Digitizer. The funny thing is that I ve send it with a "tempered glass attached". I knew that if a repair centre has to deal with tempered glass "They will always peel it off" before starting to work on it. Well It is still there, that states the quality of the whole operation. Should had bought something else. Here I attach the video (italian "dubbing" sorry).https://youtu.be/-y47lqillhY

The X1 Yoga rejects touch as if it were a palm way too easily. When using the X1 in tablet mode, my thumb often is at an angle where the entire thumb is used to scroll through pages, however, the X1 sees this as a palm, rejecting the touch.  Heres a video detailing what I'm talking about. As a note, this does not happen at all on a Surface Pro 4, which actaully knows that I'm using a thumb not a palm. I mean how can the touchscreen mistake my thumb for how big a palm is? Not very happy as I use my X1 in tablet mode to browse the web quite often.

I've noticed that a portion of the screen of my yoga 720 won't respond to my wacom stylus while my palm is resting on the screen. I've tried the "ignore touch" option in windows settings with no avail. Anyone else have this issue? Is this something I can fix on my end?

After upgrading to windows 10, palm rejection while using the stylus no longer works, causing there to be multiple glitchy inputs while the pen is active. It's set to right handed pen use and it's still messed up. The other thing is that crystal disk info says that there's no health setting for my SSD and most of it's stats are "unknown". Anyone know of any solutions to these issues?

I got my Yoga 260 around 10 days ago. I first updated my windows 10 to the new release (so I'm not sure if the problem was there from the begining). The pen is not working as it should be, the tip is not detected or detected by some offset (usually it goes into bottom of the screen besides taskbar). For example I start writing in onenote and suddenly instead of writing on the current line it is writing some wiggly things on the bottom of the page. This is not only happening in onenote or inking apps, even when I'm using the pen for selecting lines in a webpage, jumps happen.   Is this a pen problem? or display digitizer? Also I'm not sure if this is a driver problem or hardware problem. I tried to rollback to original installed windows 10 to test that, using factory resseting but I couldn't, windows keeps the upgrade. I checked the wacom driver it is recent 08/02/2016 even more recent than the one available on wacom's website (I tested both). I changed the pen and inking setting: made the handness to "right hand" and "Ignore touch input when I'm using my pen" to on, but nothing helped. It is really frustrating, because I mainly bought this notebook because of its stylus. So anyone else had the same problem? Any fixes for that?  Thanks

Hi, I'm having problems with the palm rejection on my X1 Yoga. When using the TB3 port for video output to external monitors, the palm rejection gets twitchy when I have my palm on the screen and the supplied pen jumps all over the screen while drawing. The same exact thing happens with my Wacom Bamboo. When I stop using the TB3 port (either unplugging or set display to PC only), the insane jitter goes away and the palm rejection works normally. Also, if I use the pens with my hand lifted off the screen, there is no jitter. I tried the same thing on the HDMI connection and the palm rejection seems to be working fine. Any suggestions? I'm on Windows 10 Build 17134 & BIOS Firmware N25ET39W (1.25) and have all the latest updates installed through Lenovo Vantage. Thanks!

Hi, I recently purchased 2 Yoga 920s from Lenovo. On one of them I am having serious issues with palm rejection and none of the solutions I can find on the various forums seem to resolve my issue. When writing (e.g. in One Note) and resting my palm on the screen, the cursor keeps "jumping" between my palm and the tip of the pen. This leads to any of the following behaviors:- Not writing at all (e.g. Hello turns into H    l  o)- "writing" where my palm is located- doing some freaky stuff and just creating random lines in the area of my palm and pen  How could I resolve this issue?

I bought the Lenovo Flex 5 with digitizer and active stylus hoping I would be able to use it for drawing and painting as well as writing notes/ journaling as it's advertised to be capable of but I'm really disappointed. First of all, if my palm is resting on the screen the pen acts really glitchy. Only about 10% of what I write/draw is registered at all and half of that is really delayed. Additionally the action isn't very accurate, if I use a ruler to draw a line it tuns out jagged and bumpy and everything I write/ draw looks really sloppy. I've used a Microsoft Surface Pro 4  and an iPad Pro with the pencil and none of these things were an issue, the outcome was as accurate as pen and paper.  I've tested out several applications/ programs, some are better than others but none of them are good enough for me to really want to use. I replaced the the active stylus with a Wacom Bamboo Ink stylus, the rubber tip feels better to use but the results are still the same. I also went to a store and tested both of my pens on the two Flex 5s they had on display and it was all the same. Is this a software issue that can be improved through updates? Or is anyone having a positive experience drawing on a Flex 5? It is advertized to have palm rejection, accuracy and pressure sensativity, there is digitizer technology that succesfully achieves all of those things for a plesant writing/ drawing experience so why doesn't this?

I could really use your help! I use OneNote on my Yoga 14 (Type 20FY) to take notes in veterinary school and I've had an issue for the past year or so. While in tablet mode, if I'm using the stylus pen, it will take anywhere from 2 to 15 seconds after removing the pen from the screen to allow input with a finger. Sometimes it takes even longer than that and I have to either unfold the screen or write with the pen again to finally get it to toggle palm rejection off again. Here's a link to a video I made a few minutes ago of the issue https://youtu.be/-RPDYB96GXk  I usually just keep the computer folded over my left arm while writing with my right so that I can unfold it quickly and refold it, but this slows my note-taking drastically and drives me crazy! Even when everything is running perfectly, my classes cover so much material that I can't keep up, so this is really an issue for me.  This problem NEVER occurs when the computer is in laptop mode - the palm rejection toggling happens instantly every single time while in laptop mode. This makes me believe it might be a setting somewhere in the tablet mode code. Any suggestions are welcome and I'd be completely fine with disabling tablet mode entirely if that's possible. Below is some info on the system, if you need more info, let me know!Yoga 14 (Type 20FY)64 bit Windows 10 HomeMicrosoft OneNote 2016 MSO (16.0.8528.2126) 32 bit

Hi, I noticed that when I took the laptops out from a computer bag and immediately flipped them over into a tablet, the login screen showed up with a prompt to enter the password. However, virtual keyboard did not show up. I had to turn the laptps to laptop mode, entered the password and then flipped them back to tablet for the machines to function. This has happened to both my Yoga 730 15" 4K and Yoga C930 4K. Why? Perhaps it is not the virtual keyboard not showing up but the touch screens did not respond? Is this a common issue for the Yoga line?

The Yoga C930 is usually around the same price or more expensive, but the yogadays promotion right now made the base model $200 cheaper even with 2 years on-site warranty. Would you guys say that at $200 cheaper, the Yoga C930 is worth it? It has dual fans and a bigger battery, those seem to be the main advantages.

I'm unable to adjust the screen brightness on my Yoga 920.  It's stuck.  The F11 and F12 keys do nothing. I have updated the BIOS.  I have reinstalled the driver.  When I do so, it fixes the problem ... until the next time the laptop goes to sleep or shuts down.  Then, when it comes back on, the brightness is stuck at wherever it was before. If I then reinstall the driver *again*, it fixes the problem ... until the next sleep/shutdown, when the problem reappears. A Lenovo support agent told me the only thing to do is a hard reset on the machine, restoring it to factory condition.  Obviously I'd rather not deal with that hassle if there's a less destructive way to fix the problem. Ideas?  Suggestions?

At my 1 week old Yoga 730-13IWL I have the following problem:When I increase or decrease the brightness using F11/F12, the brightness slider moves slowly. When I for example press 5 times in a row, I expect the brightness to go 5 level up, however, because of the slow reaction time it goes only 2 or 3 times up. This seems to be a driver problem for me for now, since when I pull the slider with mouse or change it on the action center there is no delay at all. What could be the problem and is there a setting I'm missing at all? I tried to change all the settings in Intel's Graphics Control Panel, as well as looking up for any possible setting in Lenovo Vantage.Things I tried:- Disable and enable monitor driver in device manager- Disable and enable Intel HD 620 driver in device manager- Uninstall and install Intel HD 620 driver (latest Intel driver from Intel's page)- Uninstall and install Intel HD 620 driver (latest driver provided by Lenovo on Yoga 730-13's product page)- Remove the drivers with help of DDU and installing both variants again My setup:Windows 10 1809 - 17763.437Latest BIOSLatest Intel Driver update from Windows Update Thanks in advance!

I have a brand-new Yoga C930 2-in-1 with a 1TB SSD and 16 GB RAM, which I'd like to run Ubuntu Linux on. I can't manage to boot from a USB (type A) pen drive yet, though. I managed to enter the BIOS (via this hint) and the "Boot from USB" option is "Enabled". When I exit the BIOS, though, saving the changes, having the USB pen drive plugged-in into the USB-A slot, Windows is booting up just normal. No USB boot happens, no boot menu is shown. Also, the usual pressing of buttons such as F2, F11, F12 or Del doesn't result in anything being shown from the BIOS. How do I boot from a USB drive then? Obviously, when there is a related option in the BIOS, it should be possible, shouldn't it?

Hello, I recently purchased a Yoga C930 (less than a week ago).  I had a few screen glitches and just thought it was normal for a new computer that hasn?t really run yet but today I turned it off and now it will not turn back on.  If I press the power button, the keyboard backlight turns on for about a second and sometimes the fan turns on but then it immediately turns back off.  This repeats itself every five seconds until I hold the power button and it turns off again.  Has anyone had a similar issue or know a possible solution?  I have tried to reset but there is no physical Nova button and I cannot access the Nova menu since the computer does not get that far when turning on.

Hello everyone! So after going back and forth which laptop i wanted i finally ended up getting a Yoga C930 which feels MUCH better compared to the 730 i had for about a day. The only concern i have for it right now is the fan noise is noticeable. I updated all of the drivers and did all of the windows updates, but it seems the fan is much more audible compared to the 730 i had. (I used the windows app and Driver Easy to do this) It's not entirely annoying but i do notice it. I also notice the laptop tends to get a bit warm. I know its only been a few hours but still its something i've noticed.  This is the exact one i purchased from Best Buy I've also noticed the Dolby Atmos Speaker System app apparently isn't compatible with my device? Also looking if anyone has recommendations on which usb c dongle to use so I can connect extra USB, display, and memory card reader? Some of the ones I?ve found on amazon don?t exclusively list if it works on the yoga c930

The pen that comes along with the Lenovo Yoga C930 isn't working on my laptop. The battery shows full and I barely ever use the pen but I have many plans of starting to use it. It really saddens me that I left an HP laptop for a Lenovo just to come to this problem. It has only been 1 month since I've bought this laptop and I barely use the pen but then it doesn't work anymore. There was a time where I didn't charge the pen for a whole week but I put it back and didn't touch it ever since. It's impossible that anything could have happened to the pen because I left it in a drawer. The touch screen works perfectly fine.... I don't know what to do and I am really really sad/disappointed. I need help with this if anyone can let me know of anything I can do or what's wrong?

I recently purchased the Yoga c930 to mainly draw on the go and do artwork in various apps and programs (mainly Photoshop, SketchBook, and Krita). However, this 2 in 1 is unable to download the wacom feel it driver ( I get a message saying that the wacom driver is not compatiable with the computer/tablet, which is wierd because the pen uses wacom aes technology) and I am having trouble with getting pressure sensitivity to work in almost everything I have tried to draw in. I even tried to change setting within the programs themselves, but the only one that really worked was Photoshop. Krita and Sketchbook still have no pressure sensitivity. There is also a Lenovo Pen Settings control panel for pressure sensitivity, but it does not really seem to make a difference in sensitivity when I change the settings there. Any suggestions as to how to get the pressure sensitivity to function properly on this computer would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to have to return the laptop and get the Yoga 720 13" becuase this computer is really nice otherwise, but I'm starting to think that may be the only option if I want to have a better drawing experience.

All the testing I have done shows no Intel Thunderbolt 3 software or drivers installed under the standard current updated Lenovo configuration.  The Intel Thunderbolt control centre from the MS Apps store will not install also. The Lenovo support want me to re-image my 920 and C930 but this appears to be a waste of time if the required software for Thunderbolt 3 port does not exist and if the required Intel Thunderbolt controller chip is not installed . The Thunderbolt icon also does not appear when a thunderbolt device is plugged in.  The bios does not have the required Thunderbolt security settings options either. All of this makes me doubt that the claimed 40 gps Thunderbolt 3 ports are anything more than conventional 5 or 10 gps USB 3-c ports as that is what they appear to be setup as by Lenovo  I hope i am wrong. The required drivers are clearly visible in other similar specification Thunderbolt 3 computers e.g. HP spectre X360 but do not appear in the Lenovo C930 and 920

Been going along fine. Updated a new battery f/w and was successful. Opted to installed OneKey Optimizer to calibrate the battery after the battery f/w update. However after install of OneKey Optimizer now I get a BSOD. I cannot restore from Acronis backups (externally), I cannot use the Win10 Repair PC option as every avenue takes me down the Bitlocker Recovery Key (to get going again) path. I didn't know this was enabled on a new PC and there's nothing about a key or password stored anywhere. Now it's a paperweight. I've seen similar when a system change is made with encryption running. There was a way to correct or change something in the UEFI/BIOS settings I thought. This was with another brand of PC though. Anyway to get past this even if I have to reset and lose everything?
