Another Nvida Geforce GT220 problem

Q: Another Nvida Geforce GT220 problem

Hello. my ATI graphics card as gottin old so i put this Nvida Geforce gt 220 so i would have the HDMI still but for some reason it wont reconize my Mitsubishi tv like the ATI did, Thought maybe it was that the card wasn't working so i hooked it up to my small monitor to test the vga and dvi and they worked fine then i took it and hooked the HDMI to the flat screen in the bedroom and again worked fine but i have a pc in there already i want this on the big screen in the living room. Now i just figured that for some odd reason its not compatible with this tv which is not old, so if there are any ideas please let me know I dont like using the HDMI off the motherboard fill like its over working it. Should i just get a different graphics card?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I recently upgraded my motherboard, RAM and cpu and performed a clean install of Windows 7 professional x64. However to do this, since my disk drive broke on me, I plugged my hard drive into my brothers computer and installed from there. I also plugged in my graphics card, Geforce GT220, and installed the drivers from the CD which are quite old now. With my brothers motherboard and display there were no issues and everything worked fine. However when I plugged everything into my motherboard and booted up windows explorer.exe crashed instantly. It repeatedly did this after every reboot.

I tried booting up in safe mode, which worked fine, and from there removed the nvidia drivers. These drivers proved to be the issue as the boot worked fine afterwards. I should add that my brothers motherboard is the same as mine, only his supports USB 3.0.

So my question is, what should I do to fix the issue?

Edit: I also get Blue screen BAD_POOL_HEADER sometimes. I have updated the BIOS, next step chipset drivers.

My specs are:

AMD phenom II X2 550 @3.1ghz
Asus M4A88T-M 880G
DDR3 corsair 2x2GB
Inno 3D geforce gt220
WD caviar green 1TB

When you installed on the other PC windows 7 loaded the drivers for that hardware. Now that you have moved the hard drive to another PC its trying to load drivers for hardware that isn't there. Not a good thing. I'd start over and borrow an optical drive to replace your broken one or install from a USB thumb drive.

hey everyone,
this is a problem I'm having with a buddy of mine's computer..
he's got a GeForce GT220(it actually says 216 on the card itself, but I know I searched 220 when I solved the problem previously, and thats the closest driver that seems to be on nvidia's site.. so.)
he's got an Asus A8N-E and windows 7 installed.
basically what happens is windows shows the "starting windows" screen, then goes to a black screen and freezes there.
as I said, I've solved the problem before, I guess it was a problem with the newer drivers or something? after hours of searching, I found someone with the same problem who switched to a previous version of the drivers, in fact, I think the drivers were Windows Vista drivers. after installing those, it worked perfectly.
unfortunately I have no idea where I found out which drivers to use, and am failing to come up with the appropriate search terms in google, so I'm hoping someone here can help out with the problem and save me several hours of searching again!

So when I bought this video card today (GeForce GT220 if you didn't read the title) everything seemed to be going well until the reboot after the installation of the drivers. Everything starts up fine then it suddenly turns into a black screen after the Windows loading screen. The screen is black for a minute or two then goes into a blue screen and reboots itself. I've done many of the procedures other people has posted but nothing seems to work. If anyone can help me out that would be wonderful.

After upgrading a Dell Inspiron 1420 to Wdws 7 Home Premium from Vista, the screen either goes blank or freezes. After updating the Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS driver (195.62 WHQL 12/04/09), I now get a BSOD when it crashes. All other drivers appear to be updated.

Rebooting after a crash usually causes either a split screen with 2 desktops or 1 low-resolution desktop. Reinstalling Wdws 7 only lasted an hour before the problem started again. Using a prior Restore Point gets it going again but only briefly.

The problem appears to be the Nvida video driver that stops working for some reason. Attached is the Minidump zip file and System Data files.

Well Ive done numerous searches here, and at some other boards and google about this. I have found some information on what I could do about this problem, but, none has worked so far.

I just installed my new video card yesterday, and ever since my image quality hasn't been great, 3D games do not work and I keep getting a memory low error, even though my system resources are fine.

In DxDiag I got the following errors when trying to run the Direct3D test button:

Direct3D 7 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code)
Direct3D 8 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8007000e (Out of memory)
Direct3D 9 test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x8007000e (Out of memory)

The information that I have read so far on this subject is:
1) Install all the latest drivers for your video card and DirectX. (done)
2) Install new motherboard BIOS (done)
3) Make sure AGP is enabled (done)
4) Click disable/enable in DxDiag for Direct3D (done)

I have also read that I should download new AGP motherboard drivers, but, I cannot find new drivers for my motherboard! It is a "Jabil BX Motherboard R0". Its a Gateway computer, using one of these motherboards. I can't find any info on the Gateway site besides the BIOS update.

Ive worked on this for the past 10 hours, and I am completely stumped. Im thinking it has something to do with DirectX 9.0.

Dear visitors,

I hope you can help me on this opportunity. We just got a new PC with an Nvidia Geforce 6200 video card. We also bought a S-Video cable and are plugging it directly from the PC to the Television (which has s-video input).

Problem is that when we play movies or something, the monitor goes black and we can only see it on the television. We tried to clone a monitor, but for some reason windows does not recognize it. (usually this should be automatically added in windows as a plug and play monitor). We are desperate! We tried download the latest Nvidia drivers, but no solution yet.

If anyone can informs us how we can add a second display so that the screen is shown on both our computer monitor and the TV we would be very happy.

On cards that slow the amount of memory is irrelevant, and for the most part anything over 512 MB is pure marketing as the cards aren't fast enough to make use of it. That said if that is what you are looking at, whichever is cheaper as they are both about on par performance-wise,

Hi guys!

I just recently bought my system with this Forsa GT220 video card (1GB DDR3 128bit). The packaging says its PhysX-ready, I also checked nVidia site and it says GT220's are capable of PhysX.

However, I look into the nVidia control panel and I don't see any menu for the PhysX under 3D settings. I also ran GPU-Z and PHysX is unchecked. I'm already using latest drivers, I have also installed PhysX separately but still the same thing.

I ran FluidMark which is supposed to test PhysX and it's really slow, benchmark only gives a score of 20. However, I played Mafia 2 with APEX set to high and I can clearly see PhysX working. What could be the problem here?

BTW, I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit, AMD X2 255 and 4GB DDR3. I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks guys!

A:PhysX on GT220 not detected

I have PhysX on my GT220. I haven't bench marked it or anything but "Set PhysX configuration" shows up in the NVIDIA control panel under 3D settings. NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.10.0514 shows up as installed in Control Panel > Programs and Features too. I had un-installed it and manually re-installed it from 280.26 driver package. There was nothing wrong with it, its just that Medal of Honor Airborne won't install for some reason if another (newer) version of PhysX is already installed?

Hey all

I bought a rig about 3 months ago as a cheap impulse buy and iv been living well enough with it so far. But iv recently decided to chop through some old games such as borderlands, deadspace and the like but the Nvidia GT220 thats in machine seems to really struggle.

Im getting very jerky game play in borderlands with all settings on the lowest with screen res at highest (i play all my games full resolution since im running a full HD 24" wide screen monitor). Dead space 1 isn't so bad but its still jerky, possibly adding to the fun of the game but not appealing all the time.

Details (most of this is just what CPU-ID could find, if you need any more info ill try get it)

CPU - Intel i7 950
CPU speed - 1999.0 MHz
Motherboard - MSI X58M (MS-7593)
RAM - 12gigs DDR3
GPU - Nvidia GT220 2gig
GPU slots - Two 16X PCI-E, one 4xPCI-E and one old PCI
Power supply - ok its got two +12V rails, one is 18A the other 19A
i did have a pic but seems i need to post more on the forums to link one.

Budget for possible upgrades $300-600 Aus, happy to buy off the net

If there's a tweaking solution that would be great but if the better option is to get a new card then im happy to buy a new card that will handle the games as long as they can fit in the case and on the motherboard. it is a small case and unusually small looking motherboard. Iv also still got my old 9800GT which i had two of in SLI on my old computer, dunno if its worth swapping the GT2... Read more

A:Nvidia GT220 problems with Borderlands, Dead Space and others

I would switch back to the 9800GT, the GT220 is quite a low spec card. Nvidia is known to re badge cards, and from memory the 8800GT, 9800GT and even the GTS250 where based off the same architecture just with minor improvements. For a upgrade card I would chose either a GTX 560 or Radeon 6950, pccasegear.com.au has some brands both at $299, they should last a couple more years. Also you will need a new Power supply, go for a nice 850W like the corsair HX range which has 70A on the +12v rail. most high end cards need atleast 40Amps or more and minimum of 550W.

I hope this helped abit.

Hello all! I searched and found similar (but not close enough) problems.

Specs up front:
W7 Home Premium x64
Asus M2A-VM motherboard
AMD Athlon x64 5000+
Gigabyte GV-N220OC-1GI GeForce GT 220
On-board audio (aside from the HDMI out on the GT220)

I have an LCD monitor I use 98% of the time on the DVI plug and an HP projector for watching videos hooked up to the VGA plug. I bought this GT220 specifically for the HDMI audio out to my receiver.

Except the HDMI audio doesn't work, whether or not I disable the on-board audio in BIOS. I downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers (July '11) and the computer recognizes the receiver.
If I start playback, you get the little bars dancing next to the receiver in audio properties (See image below) but no sound.
Unlike older cards with HDMI plugs, this one has no SPDIF inputs; should get all the signal through the PCIe bus... I guess...
It seems Windows is smart enough to disable the on-board when I turn the receiver on, and re-enable it when I turn the receiver off, but not to actually send audio to the receiver.

I know the receiver & cable are good because if I unplug the cable from the computer and plug it into my WDTV I get HDMI audio... but when the cable is plugged up to the computer, "HDMI" doesn't appear in the receiver display and there is no sound.

Thoughts??? Thanks in advance.

A:No HDMI audio from new Gigabyte (NVIDIA) GT220 graphics card

Aside from setting Nvidia HD audio to default, you will need to have the latest Nvidia audio driver installed. You can uninstall your current Nvidia drivers (all of them), and when you install this driver, select custom, and make sure audio driver is selected to install.

Here it is: NVIDIA DRIVERS 285.62 WHQL

I'm not sure if you have an Nvidia driver installed minus the audio driver, but if you do: This may or may not work instead of removing all the Nvidia drivers: select install driver - Custom. This may allow you to only install the audio driver (so you don't need to remove all other drivers).

Who makes better cards? Who has the best card for less then $300?

A:ATI vs Nvida

lol, thems fighting words.

Really, they both make good cards, it all comes down to one's own personal experience. I lean towards ATI right now, others lean towards Nvidia. No matter what card you pick, a few more bucks gets a better card from the opposite manufacturer. Then a few bucks more gets a better card from the other. etc...

Also, are you talking AGP or PCI-E? Would you ever want to run in SLI or Crossfire? Or in other words run two cards in the motherboard?

If $300 is the budget, run a search on newegg and browse around in that price area, compare the pipelines, ram speed/type, clock speeds. Then head over to www.tomshardware.com and look at some of their charts:

For the most part, if you don't get a cheap budget version card, but a "Pro" card or one of the higher-end types, you should be fine either way. Or get an "OC", or, Overclock version.

If you spend $300 or even more, take a quick survey of your power supply and post the specs here, you don't want an underpowered power supply when running a fast video card.

The 7400 is the best option, since it's fastest, but you may not need a faster video card if you don't do activities that require a fast video card. This link may be helpful.

I recently had problems with my 6600 GT. Still under warranty the
supplier replaced it with the 7300. Since then I have had constant
difficulties and hardware conflicts. my system:

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+, 2.2 Gigahertz with 1 GB of Ram. Windows
XP service pack2.

Is there any known problems with compatibility regarding my system and
the Nvidia geforce 7300 GT??

Example of problems:

Despite loading loads of codecs I cant run a single video file that
used to work fine when I had the 6600 GT (prior to its unknown fault
of course).
Another example: I have difficulty changing screen settings etc..

If anyone could be of assistance it would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to know which is the better card and why (in
laymen's terms preferably), I have a suspicion my pc company is taking
advantage of my ignorance.

Thank you very much for your time reading this.

A:Nvida 6600GT vs 7300 GT

I can't tell you what is causing the problems... but I can tell you that depending on whether the 7300GT is GDDR2 or GDDR3 makes a lot of difference on the matter of being better than a 6600GT. If it is GDDR2, the 6600GT is better, but if it is GDDR3, it destroys the 6600GT. To find out, download ATItool and run it. Tell us what the memory clock is listed as but DO NOT CHANGE IT.

Also, a possible solution to the problems, update your video drivers to 93.71. If they are on 93.71 now, roll back to an older release.

I got a Toshiba Satellite C70-C-11L half a year ago but i was too lazy to go to support until now,
I bought this laptop because of the pretty great specs. But i was a little shocked when i found out this laptop is underperforming massively because it refuses to use the Nvidia 930M and instead uses the built-in Intel graphics. I've tried numerous things like going into the nvidia and intel software but i can't seem to figure it out. The ''personal assistant Yoko" doesnt even have a GPU segment.

Thanks in advance

Where can I find system NVIDA RIVA TNT2 Model 64 Pro for XP?

A:Driver NVIDA motherboard for XP

Question was a littler bit unclear, but I will assume you wanted video card drivers for your Nvidia TNT2 video card.

Not for sure about winXP, but win2K3 automatically installs the proper nvidia driver. The one linked above is better though.

Before installing the nvidia drivers, you have to uninstall any existing nvidia drivers.

you do that by add/remove programs in the control panel.

If the nvidia drives are listed in the add/remove programs (as would be for the winxp default nvidia drivers), then you have to go under properties of the video card in the device manger and

update drive
install from a list
don't search
Then install the standard vga Graphics adapter.
restart etc.
Then install the nvidia drivers; ingnoring the driver warning.

After all installed, you adjust your resolution and make sure that the hardware acceleration slider under display properties is set to full.

display tab
and make sure all the DirectX features are enabled.

Also want to make sure you have a current versio of DirectX.

Computer only a month or two old.

After black screen, screen comes back on with little bubble above the clock.

The message:
Display driver NVidia window kernel mode driver version 285.62 stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

I have searched the web numerous times and have gotten about a "zillion" hits, all kinds of forums including microsoft and Nvidia forums. The only thing all the sites have in comman is that none of them have a solution. Theory's from A-Z yes, solutions none.

Hi everyone. I just joined the forum because I am in desperate need of help.

I want to upgrade my system from vista ultimate 32 bit to windows 7 (preferrably 64 bit). I ran the upgrade advisor tool from microsoft and ran into a big problem:
my nvidia graphics card isn't compatible, and it says it cant' find the driver to make it compatible.
So, I did some research, and discovered tons of other people with sony notebooks have the same exact problem. Sony won't provide new drivers for anyone, and attempts to contact them result in the same hting: your computer was designed to work with vista only.
My computer isn't a notebook per se, but it has all notebook components. I have a Sony all-in-one desktop, model VGN-LT29U. I have 4 gig of ram. The graphics processor that's supposedly not compatible is the NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT. Driver version is old, it's 156.65. Like I said Sony isn't any help. I looked up my GPU on Nvidia's website, and there is a new version available as of last month (version 195.62), but if you look in the release notes, it says that "Sony notebook users should not use this upgrade, and should instead contact their manufacturer for updates".
I really need help here folks... I want to upgrade to Windows 7, but I have questions/problems. Does this update from NVIDIA fix the compatibility issue? If so, is it safe to update my Sony All-In-One computer using NVIDIA's update considering the note about sony notebooks (like I said, I know my computer i... Read more

Here is the DRIVER I'm currently using, so download that, and also download THIS, which is a modded inf. Run the driver exe which will extract the files to a folder, which you will then have to copy the downloaded inf into and replace the original.

Run setup, reboot, and your card should work.

Here is my issue in a nutshell.  I've turned "on" the nvida graphics card via the nvidia control panel AND the Intel Graphics Contol page.  As I play games like Star Wars : The Old Republic, the laptop seems to switch between the intel and nvidia graphics cards as the graphics are recalculated.  I also play Skyrim.  Often, the screen will freeze for a few seconds interrupting the game play.
I've downloaded the most "current" nvidia drivers but I'm now wondering if I should backrev the drivers to what Dell provides.  While decent graphics are nice, the pauses in gameplay are not becoming unacceptable to the point of wanting to disable the nvidia card entirely.  While the whole dual graphics idea might be good on paper, my experience with it has been pretty poor. :(
Any help would be appreciated.

I have an Nvidia Geforce 5500 FX (128 MB) and I just upgraded to Vista Ultimate.

is it really not compatible?

A:Nvida Card with Vista.. NOT WORKING!

You're likely best off buying a better video card. Nvidia dropped support for the FX cards in Vista before Vista was even officially released. The driver you have should work, but it was very buggy, and the FX cards aren't that great in any case.

What motherboard do you have? Does it support AGP 8X or PCI-Express x16? You can pick you a very cheap Geforce 6200 for about $35 in AGP or an X1550 for under $30 in PCI x16 at Newegg.com.
