I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

One day before school, the keyboard was working, after I come back from school, boot up XP, and the keyboard doesn't work anymore. I noticed that the keyboard works on the BIOS, but once booting XP, stops working. I am running on Windows XP that I just installed on my slave drive to get this post though. My computer specs:
Intel Celeron 1.7GHz
512+256MB of RAM
60GB Master
10GB Slave
eMachines Keyboard (PS/2)
Compaq Optical USB Mouse

A:Keyboard suddenly stops working.

Hi DeltaStrikeZeta and welcome to TSF !

So the same keyboard works with another installation of XP on the same computer ?

Does another keyboard work better ? Does a usb keyboard work ?

Were there some updates pending to be installed when you turned the computer off ? Had you installed anything new during the last session ?

Try booting on the installation that doesn't work and repeatedly pressing the F8 key. Can you get to the advanced options menu ? If so try "last known good configuration" and see if it helps.

Does your XP pro install CD have SP2 integrated ?

Hello, I bought my first lenovo computer and already ran in a few issues which I fixed after sometime except one that I cannot find anywhere. When I press a button on keyboard the touchpad locks for a single second and that really annoys in a graphical applications or games. I found a few posts that people fixed on older lenovos with turning off on palmsense on elan pointing device, but when I did it on the newest version it changed nothing so I decided to uninstall ELAN software completely and I got into another problem, that gestures don't work of course and now it got reversed but have the same problem still can't use them at the same time. How to fix this issue? Computer:Yoga 710  14 Lenovo i7-7500U/8GB/256GB/IntelHD 620/W10/Black

Alright I have a unique problem with my keyboard, that seems more or less of a software issue than a hardware issue. For some strange reason, every few minutes my laptop keyboard will stop working for no reason. But when I restart the computer, or go into standby and then turn the computer back on, it works fine. I checked device manager and event viewer and there is nothing to give hint as to why this is happening.

So what gives?! Anyone have any advice?

I have a problem with my Yoga s730. At least once to a few times per day, the screen will flash black for 2-4 seconds and when it comes back, it will close Plex media player and sometimes the Youtube tab if it's open. If the screen is dimmed due to nightlight settings, it will also override that and turn the nightlight off. What could the problem be? I've tried updating all drivers and BIOS. TIA.

For about a week now, the keyboard has just stopped working randomly several times a day and without any pattern that I can see.  Although the PS/2 keyboard keys stop working, the virtual keyboard still works and so does the touch pad/mouse. In order to get the keyboard functioning again I have to restart.  Windows 10 has been installed and working for almost a year (of course with the usual adjustments required after upgrading from Windows 8.1). I have Bitdefender Total Security 2016 and the system is fully updated and patched. I have followed all the instructions/solutions I can find on different forums. These include: virus scansScannowupdating/reinstalling the driverschecked Bios version is up to datechanged Ease of Access keyboard settingstried windows plus spacetried task managertried Windows trouble shootermade a reliability scan (this showed several errors labelled Microsoft.Messaging_8wekyb3d8bbwe!ppleae38af2e007f4358a809ac99a64a67c1 . It is apparently linked to Skype Host). The issue is unresolved (it is only midday  and it has already happened twice today). I see there is a similar post on a forum for Yoga 3 users, but the solution there appears to have been an update for the Yoga 3 system.  If anyone has any other ideas, I'd be very grateful. I have spent ages trying to track down a solution. Thanks, Sek

I have a problem with my Thinkpad Yoga 460 which started to occur about 2 weeks ago. Sometimes after bootup the keyboard does not work when I have to supply my passphrase for the hard disk encryption. The solution I have in this situation is to turn the battery of in the UEFI setup. Then pressing the power button for 10 seconds and then enabling the battery again with the power cable. This works reliable to fix the issue, but it is very annoying and when I am at the university there is no socket to enable the battery again. Is something broken or is there a workaround for this issue?

Hey CommunityI encountered a rather strange problem yesterday when my wife turned on her Lenovo we bought a month ago. It is possible to enter the PIN at the Win10 startup page, but as soon as we enter Windows, no(!) key works. Neither Keypad nor Keyboard. We tried:- accessing the Bios, which works and in which the Keyboard works normally- deleting the Keyboard PS/2 Driver from the Hardware Setting Menue, which results in a re-installation of this driver but still the error remains- plugging in a USB keyboard which interestingly receives power and the volume buttons works, but here the same, the keys do not function (and this one also does not work at the windows pin screen).- waited until Win10 installed all updates, even the anniversary update, but still nothing changed (was my last hope. D'oh!). Right now I'm quite lost and don't see why things do not work. Really need some help here...Thank you in advance BTW: It's a  Lenovo B50-80 80EW0521GE as far as I understand it.

Hey, all. I'm writing this because I'm pretty perplexed about what's going on here, and I'm hoping someone can offer some advice. Several days ago, I noticed that the G and H keys were not functioning quite right. They would stop working, seemingly at random, and I could fix it momentarily by holding them down for a moment, but it didn't last long. Then I noticed the same thing with several others, including the tab key and the left alt. Now, when they do work, it's slower than the other keys. I mean that I frequently mistype certain words that were never a problem for me before. "That" becomes "taht," for example. We all make mistakes from time to time, but these mistakes are new and extremely frequent (and extremely irritating). I don't put liquids near my laptop -- ever -- because I actually did ruin one and had to get really creative, really quickly, to solve the problems that created. At first I thought maybe there were a couple of food particles under the G and H, like a seed or two from an everything bagel. But I haven't had one of those since before this all started, so it doesn't explain the tab and left alt keys. The only thing I can think of is that my cat has been walking on my laptop more frequently in the last few weeks. But I've had cats all my life, and most of them have sat on at least one laptop, but never caused this problem. She also doesn't go outside, except to chill on the porch (we live on the second floor, it's kind of a small balcony a... Read more

Hello there all, I hope you are having a nice day/night while reading my post  Recently Im having a quite uncomfortable problem with my Lenovo. As the title says, it stops running, to be honest, mostly when playing League of Legends. Very rarely while doing other things, like surfing on the web, perhaps more often when playing other games than League It's hard for me to figure up, why does it happen. My laptot is fairly new (4-5 months), and it has not been damaged or awashed by water And there we go to the second problem, which is connecting with WiFi. It just randomly does not show any will to connect with web spots. Sometimes, it works just fine. I installed WiFi/Router drivers, and it hasn't got any better The third, and the last problem is, that my headphones sometimes don't run. Rather randomly, when I plug them in, or when I turn on the computer while they are already plugged If anyone can help me with any of these problems above, I will be very grateful My operating system is Windows 10

Hello all! I write to you today from an external keyboard placed on top of my laptop, because my keyboard stopped working last night, first by losing an e key, than a r key, and then, when I restarted the laptop, thinking it would be solved by doing so, the entire keyboard would not work past a certain point in windows boot. It does work in BIOS and I can even watch caps lock light up and go off and turn the backlight on and off.Things to note1) The last software change was 2 days before this happened. It was an update to Windows 10. which is my OS.2) My system restore points will not work due to an issue with AppXstaging (not sure if solvable).3)There are two HID compliant devices in my keyboard section on device manager. and a ps2 compatabile keyboard (which is the one I'm typing on right now) 4) I emphasize that the keyboard DOES WORK in BIOS and during boot, up until the point I can see my windows icon, and Cortana. Things I've tried1) sfc scannow comes back with there being issues it couldn't fix as well as ones it fixed2) chkdsk enjoyed scanning my computer for 5 hours last night and fixing some issues3) I do have an event viewer full of errors regarding filter manager and storage, but nothing I could see with the keyboard.4) Black majik5) I have uninstalled so many devices from device manager to let them install that my mouse hands hurt. Perhaps the place in the boot process it is freezing is when the driver reinstalls?6) The problem still occurs in SAFE mode... Read more

A:Lenovo Y50-70-- Keyboard stops working during wind...

Hi Rose,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

About the keyboard issue I am not sure. I have heard that there is another Patch update for Win 10 that has been released, you may want to check and install that in Windows Update functionality.

Method 1:
Try to remove keyboard device via device manager (right click my computer > manage > device management > keyboards > find your keyboard > right click and select remove > then restart your computer)

Method 2:
If the keyboard is working fine on the login screen and then suddenly stops functioning when you get to the desktop / metro screen then the problem might be with the Filter Keys - similar to this thread.
Try to turn off Filter Keys by going to Control Panel > Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use > uncheck Turn on Filter Keys then hit apply.
Link to picture
If same problem, you may want to consider doing a clean windows.

Method 3:
If it doesn't work, you may need to replace the keyboard, contact Lenovo service centres and ask for replacement for free if you have valid warranty.

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

Hello to all, The Keyboard of my lenovo U410 suddenly stopped working properly. It's not like the whole keyboard doesn't work, but some keys do work, and some don't. (on the top row, only 5 & 6 work. below that only t & y work. But below that all the keys a to l work!)I tried to download the drivers from the Lenovo website already, but these are the same as the drivers that were already on my computer I believe. That doesn't work. System recovery (to the system status of a week ago) doesn't work either.Does anyone have any ideas? it might be that this is a hardware problem, but I've had several problems with my touchpad in the past too. And then in the end with a lot of trying, it worked again. So before I will have the keyboard replaced, can anyone help me with ideas, how to possibly fix this? I'm also fine with recovering the whole system while I have a backup of all my files. I just don't really know how to do this without loosing windows really. Thanks in advance. Regards,Onnea

I am then forced to hold the power button down to force it off. When I restart the computer instead, it would take me to the blue screen where it would say "Windows has ran into an unexpected error" then the screen would turn black again and everything else would be on. Characters like the semi-colon are completely unavailable on this laptop now. I have already read through quite a few forum posts to find the solution. I have tried using the device manager to uninstall the keyboard, have used Lenovo vantage to find the latest drivers and install them and have also tried turning all keyboard ease of access ommands off. Nothing seems to fix this issue. It seems to be a software issue, rather than Hardware as the shift key works with about half of the keyboard. It does not fix itself when working on the command prompt. Please could someone provide an adequate solution to this problem. Thanks,SZ

So I booted my PC after an update the other morning and the keyboard and trackpad weren't working. I tested the brightness keys on my keyboard and they still worked so it couldn't be a hardware issue there, and my mouse still worked so it was just the trackpad that had something wrong with it. The trackpad has a driver error (code 10) but the keyboard says it's working correctly. Here's what I've tried in hopes to resolve the issues so far: -Reinstalling trackpad drivers -Uninstalling both trackpad and keyboard drivers then restarting -System Restore -Chkdsk on both drives -A trick I read on these forums where you flip the device into tent mode, then after a few seconds flip it back round to laptop mode. I am utterly confused as to what's wrong here as nothing has even slightly helped my problem. Any help?

I have a Lenovo Yoga 700 14ISK (ideapad) with Windows 10 64bit, whose keyboard and touchpad are refusing to work.Everything else seems to be running smoothly except for these. I initially was getting by via the on screen keyboard until I began borrowing an external wireless one. The following is what I knowReset to factory settings did not work.Optimizing OS in BIOS is enabled already (enabling this was suggested by Lenovo Support)THE ARROW KEYS WORK IN BIOS (??!???!?)An external keyboard works (I have used two different Logitech keyboards and both work)Before I sign in, FN+Space seems to work thus (re)activating my backlight. Once I sign in, it stops working. There's no updates for the keyboard driver.I have already tried to uninstall the driver, restart the laptop, and allow it to reinstall the driver.Disabling ymc did not help.F6 does not re-enable the touchpad.I tried a couple button combinations I've seen around for people disabling/enabling keyboards, but none worked. (Willing to try more though!!!) Any ideas? I thought it may be a hardware problem, but since the arrow keys work in BIOS; I'm not confident that this is the case.
