Preferred Solution: Looping of PREPARING AUTOMATIC REPAIR WITH BLUE SCREEN

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After having a new fan installed two weeks ago, my computer has randomly become unresponsive at times with only the mouse cursor being able to move. Until now powering the computer back up again has "fixed" the problem. The fan had been required, on top of a full reinstall of Windows, which had cost enough to make me feel content with this method for now.

Tonight, however, I had the same problem but, after powering it on and off (since restarting it always just got me stuck in the BIOS screen) I find myself stuck on a black screen that follows Windows telling me that it is preparing an automatic repair.

I've tried restarting it but nothing stops it continually ending up on that screen. Even if I can get back onto the desktop, I expect I'll end up having to call someone to see what's causing everything to become unresponsive.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi Startan, welcome to the TSG Forums....

Is the laptop still under warranty?

If "yes" then I suggest you contact HP. No point in messing around with something that is under warranty.

If "no" then try booting into Safe Mode. You should also connect the laptop to the mains electricity supply so as to ensure that you have a good source of power.

A:Satellite Pro C850-1FN stucks in Preparing Automatic Repair screen

Hi

It looks like the automatic repair isn?t possible.
Did you try another option ? HDD recovery?

The HDD recovery procedure would start new system as well as driver installation and would set the notebook back to factory settings.

I think if system repair isn?t possible, your next step should be the HDD recovery.
In case the HDD recovery would not work too, then you should use the Recovery disk.

I bought this laptop 1 year ago and it's been 2 or 3 days since this message appeared on the screen and I let it "repair" for over 10 hours, then the screen became black and I couldn't use it. Since then It doesn't boot.
Every time I restart it, I see "Asus" and "Preparing automatic repair", after about 30 seconds the screen turns black.
I've been trying literally anything, I can't change the battery because it is inside the 'hard case' (I don't know how to call it) I don't care about the files, I just need the laptop.
I've also tried to reset W10 using a USB 3.0 and Create Windows 10 installation media from the official site, even entering the BIOS: nothing works.
It can recognize the Usb as a device, but the consequences are the same (even though the Asus logo appears and "Preparing automatic repair" doesn't).
I really don't know. I wish I could find something to solve this without going to the experts.
Sorry for my English.

Hi,Since a few months I have a lenovo G595s with Windows 8 installed, the thing is I don't know much over computers, but last tuesday I was just working and my laptop was next to me without any task, and somehow when I was going to reuse the computer I wasn't able because the screen where all the apps are was frozen, so I tried with CTR ALT DELETE nothing happened, then I just turn it off, and since it only goes on with the Lenovo logo, in the under part says or appears Preparing automatic repair and like 1 min later it goes completely in black without turning off.I tried el the F keys at the beggining of the start, in the middle, with a windows CD as well, but I just don't get access to the BIOS or any other configuration, only black screen, doesn't matter how long I leave it on.If somebody could help me to find out what is happening with the computer.Thank you a lot

A:Lenovo G505s windows 8, preparing automatic repair then black screen

hi Dlskmalpik,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Automatic Repair usually kicks in if there's a problem loading up the files that's required to start Windows. If the repair was interrupted and the screen just goes into a black screen then there's most likely a hardware component that's malfunctioning.

To check, try to:
1.Boot into the BIOS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button
  - Link to picture

If successful, set the following settings in the BIOS:

Security Tab:
Secure Boot = Disabled

Boot Tab:
UEFI = Disabled or Legacy
Boot Mode = Legacy
Boot Priority = Legacy First

Exit Tab
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled

When done, press F10 (or Fn+10) to save and exit and try to boot from your Windows CD (i'm assumming this is a Windows 8 disc).

2. If you're successful in booting from the Windows 8 Disc, see Step 1 to Step 2 of this guide on how to proceed in fixing the issue.

3. If the problem remains, consider re-instaling Windows by pressing the OneKey Recovery button and choose System Recovery
  - Link to picture

In an event that the recovery fails, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service..

Regards

Hi BETH1445,
What is the exact system model? What is the current OS installed on the system?
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional. Also, run an extended / thorough tests on the HDD and memory to check for any possible errors.
If you encounter any HDD related errors, then you the HDD needs to be replaced.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Greetings, What is your current operating system? This PC shipped with Win 8.1. You are in a repair loop. The cause could be Recovery Partition corruption or hardware related. Check hardware by referring to the following HP Document: PC Hardware Diagnostics. No HDD errors means the recovery partition may be corrupt. You may have to do a factory recovery. This means you will lose everything on the HDD if you have not backed up the good stuff. You could pull the HDD and connect it to a different PC. Then copy data to an external drive for safe keeping before doing the factory recovery. Please advise if you wish to set the PC back to the factory settings. Instructions on doing this can be viewed here.  If this fails then the recovery partition is corrupt. Did you create an HP factory recovery disc set or USB drive? Your PC's HP Support site does not provide the option to order a recovery disc set from HP. One last option is to use a Win 8.1 PC to download an .ISO or create a USB stick at this site. If you're running Win 10 you can do the same thing here on a different PC. Cheers!

Alright, I've been searching this question all over the Internet but nothing has worked. My situation is somewhat complex but let me explain. Yesterday evening I went to turn on my laptop and it had the normal startup screen with a little loading circle. After about a minute it still was at loading screen. I turned it off and turned it back on, then I started getting the same loading screen as always but it said "Preparing Automatic Repair" I've seen that lots of other people had this where it restarts the PC and is stuck in a loop but mine just stays at the same screen. If I press F2 upon startup there is a blue box that asks for supervisor password, I don't know it but my dad or brother might. If the only option is to put in the password I can ask them but I'd rather not or they'd get pissed that I messed up the computer. I don't have a Windows 8 install disc so I'm kinda stuck. Can you guys just give some advice and some things to try out?

If this is your father's PC, you better let him handle it. There are various ways to fix any problem, but they may come at a cost - e.g. loss of installed programs.

My laptop doesn't have a battery currently...it died, and I've been only operating it with AC adapter, for now.I have been running Windows 10 for around 6 months, no problem. It was factory-released with Windows 7 (both OS's are/were 64-bit). This problem began with the PC not booting to Windows after a forced shutdown(I'd accidently pulled the power cord out), and I believe it was still in startup mode.(I had just started the system up).  After that, I began getting an endless "Automatic Repair" process. It would sit with the blue screen's windows logo, and a circling dot. I have downloaded and tried booting to a Windows 10 ISO dvd, but the pc won't boot to dvd. I have successfully changed boot order from within BIOS (using the F12 hotkey). I t saves the boot order correctly, yet doesn't actually get to a boot sequence, I am guessing, because of the looping Repair. In the BIOS tab, nothing much is included as menu options...seems wrong. Only the boot order. My BIOS vendor is listed as "InsydeH20" and version is "F.29".**One other thing...I'd tried using a Windows 7 installation cd, previous to the Windows 10, for just getting to a command prompt. It did boot to it, and I puttered around, but changed nothing other than admin password.  I'm wondering if that somehow messed up the BIOS setup....but don't have a clue as to why that would cause the pc now to not boot to cd at all.

It is attempting automatic repair. This may be hardware problem or software problem. Please, clarify the following: - Did you perform some change recently ,something new these days, last hours before the issue started ?- Could you please post the product number as mentioned here >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108- Did you PC come with Windows 10 preinstalled by HP or it had previous Windows before (7/8) and you upgraded it to Windows 10 later ?  Please, perform some basic hardware checks 1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button2. Power it on.2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one 3. Choose F2 to open System Diagnostics. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform System Test >> Quick test. This will check major hardware componets for issue (do it just in case) . Here is more info >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03467259#AbT1 If there are no system checks/no quick tests, perform HDD and RAM check. Let me know the test results.

A friend in my community called me for help.  She tampered and deleted some files. Now the above unit boots into that message "Preparing Automatic Repair".   The screen changes to "Choose your Keyboard Layout".  It lists various languages, but I am unable (good keyboard/mouse) to select from the list.1) F11 works into Recovery Manager, but System Restore and Startup Repair Tool are ghosted out.  Only System Recovery is available.  As this unt was WIN 7, I am hesitate to do that, because  it would revert back  to WIN 7.2) I can not find an "F" key that will allow System Restore.  It's got that old CyberLink Recovery Manager software. 3) If I pull the drive, I can save the data files.  Then allow the Recovery Manager to revert to WIN 7.  Is there any option to re-install WIN 10 ????
