Firefox keeps bouncing back to a previous page.

Q: Firefox keeps bouncing back to a previous page.

I've been trying to find a solution to the problem and it led me here. However my problem isn't the same as the firefox 'bouncing' problem already mentioned in this forum.

Example:
When viewing hotmail I can visit my inbox but when i try to view any messages I get a very brief glimpse of the message before it bounces me back to the inbox.
With other sites it often just refreshes the page if i click on any avenues within the site.

I tried deleting cookies via the toolbar cos that sorts out some problems.

I only got to this forum through explorer (yuk).

I apologise if this is a question that has already been answered but my problem isn't very easily searchable through keywords.

Preferred Solution: Firefox keeps bouncing back to a previous page.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Firefox keeps bouncing back to a previous page.

...also revisiting a tab in firefox causes that page to refresh. Not really a problem but displaying all the symptomes will help in diagnosing the problem.

I also tried re-installing firefox. That didn't work.

Please, any thoughts on this, it's driving me up the wall.

Folks;
I am using Win XP, IE 6. When I use the back button it does not take me to the previous page. I have looked at the history list and noticed that there are numberof "doubleclick" items there. When I click back button it backs up one at a time and finally reaches the previous page. Depending on the webpage I am visiting I have to click many times to back to the previous page. This is most annoying. I use FireFox on the same machine and I do not have this problem there. I use a laptop with Win2K and IE 6 and it does not have that problem either. Basically they do not retain the doubleclick frames in the history. How can I fix this on the XP machine. I compared all the internet advanced options with the laptop and they are identical. Thanks for your help in advance.

This may be an issue with the Acer One netbook we're using it on, but the problem seems to occur only in IE8 that's installed on Windows & Basic.

We have a little girl who likes playing Flash games on her netbook. Unfortunately, in the middle of them, they frequently just hop back to the previous (usually menu) page, thus losing her progress. Very annoying.

Is there some key combination that she could accidentally be hitting which somehow acts as a keypress activating the "Previous Page" button? I recall the old days where, due to the way that keyboards functions, pressing three buttons at the same time would often send the same signal to the computer as pressing a fourth.

If I can get her off the machine for a short while, I'm going to try installing Firefox or Chrome to see if the problem affects them as well.

Thanks for any help!

A:Constantly kicking back to previous page

I'm having a similar problem, I'll click on a link, the tab i'm on says 'connecting', but then suddenly stops, leaving me on the page i was already on, like it 'forgot' what it was doing or something. It happens totally at random so it's really hard to test what might be causing it.

Hi,

I'm really hoping someone can help me out here.
For some reason, when I follow a link, the new page loads and after 10 seconds or so, it reverts back to the original page I came from by itself, as if I hit the 'Back' button.

This is not confined to web browsers either.
If I open Microsoft Outlook, it loads up displaying the contents of my inbox.
When I navigate away to another folder, say clicking on 'Sent Items', the contents of that folder displays for about 10 seconds, then the program automatically goes back to 'Inbox' folder...

If I open control panel and click on an icon such as 'Add/Remove Programs', same thing happens, it opens then, after about 10 seconds, reverts back to control panel window by itself, as if I hit the back button.

I'm running XP Pro SP2, I've just upgraded to IE8 although the problem was already there with IE7, and it happens with Google Chrome and Safari anyway so it can't be an Internet explorer version problem.

Please, if someone can help me before I tear all my hair out it would be appreciated...

Cheers,

Bobby

I use Firefox, but I don't think that's a problem. I just ran Malwarebytes and it said there were no issues. I have Norton Security for my anti-virus program and it also said I have no problems.

So why won't my computer stay on the page I go to instead of jumping back to previous page I was on? My Flash Player is up-to-date, if that matters.

A:My computer jumps back to the previous page often

sounds like you have a stuck key on your keyboard. Is this a laptop or desktop? If using an external keyboard, turn it upside down and blow out the spaces in between with a can of compressed air, remove all food and dust particles.

Hello,

Using Firefox.

It used to be that I could click the "Back Arrow" and pull up the last screen to view again.
Or, I could click many, many times this back arrow, and view quite a ways back.

Now, no more.

At best, I can click once, and that's about it.

What should I set in Options (I guess) to be able to re-access many of the previous views ?
Is there a built in limit ?

Thanks,
bob

Hi... I'm in help desk in my company. We're having an issue with emails sent to Hotmail, they're being rejected. Microsoft answered, via website:

"Welcome to Microsoft Community. We understand how important for you to be able to send an email to Microsoft accounts from your domain account.

You need to get in touch with the Microsoft Sender Support Team. They have to fill out the e-form that can be found on the following link to solve your issue with the error code 550 SC-002 where your emails sent from your domain to Microsoft Account rejected for policy reasons.

If you are the 3rd party Domain Administrator:

Please review our policies and guidelines at http://postmaster.live.com.
If you are in compliance, submit a support request to our Email and Delivery Filtering Services team by clicking on the link to the e-form under the troubleshooting section in the postmaster site mentioned above.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Thank you. "

... but the problem is that mails sent to Gmail are being rejected too... So I suppose that our servers are being considered as spammers, for the time being, for some reason. Is there a workaround to this without having to contact either Hotmail or Gmail? That's dealing with obnoxious bureaucrats... if you ever can get a hold of them...

Hi!,

This is a new one for me.

I NOTICED I WAS NOT RECEIVING BOUNCED BACK, "MESSAGE DELIVERY FAILURE" OR SIMILAR INCORRECT OUTBOUND E-MAIL MESSAGES COMING BACK THAT I ADDRESSED INCORRECTLY.

Comcast 6 Mps is my ISP.
Windows XP Professional
Outlook 2003.
Only recent new software within last month when this started happening is IE v.7.beta 2.
I FIRST NOTICED THIS WITH SOME PERSONAL E-MAIL DISTRIBUTION LISTS IN WHICH I HAD NOT CLEANED OUT A COUPLE "BAD" E-MAIL ADDRESSES THAT CONTINUALLY CAME BACK AS UNDELIVERABLE. THEN, MORE RECENTLY, I FURTHER CONFIRMED THIS WHEN I NOTICED THAT INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED E-MAILS FOR MY BUSINESS E-MAIL ADDRESS (A POP3 THAT I USE WHEN I WORK OUT OF HOME SOMETIMES) WERE NOT COMING BACK AFTER I REALIZED I INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED AN OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESS.

THEN, FINALLY, I TESTED VARIOUS INCORRECT OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESSES TODAY FOR BOTH MY PERSONAL AND BUSINESS E-MAIL ADDRESSES AND NONE OF THE DELIBERATELY, INCORRECTLY ADDRESSED OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESSES WERE BOUNCING BACK TO ME. [ I ALSO HAD AN ASSOCIATE IN ANOTHER STATE, NON-COMCAST USER SEND OUT SOME OF THE INCORRECT OUBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESSES AND HE DID GET THEM BOUNCED BACK TO HIM] THE LATEST INCORRECT OUTBOUND E-MAIL ADDRESS I TESTED FOR BOTH MY PERSONAL '[email protected]' AND BUSINESS OF '[email protected]' IS '[email protected]'

I'm lost on this one and Comcast is, well, Comcast.

Help!

Thanks.

JHH

Hey everyone, I have been trying to play a few games on my laptop recently, and I've noticed the oddest thing. Take Dungeon Siege 2 for example; I start the game up, graphics are set to high, and the game runs smooth as butter. About 5 minutes go by and then I hit a massive lag spike, my frame-rate drops from 40 to 10. This lasts for about another 5minutes then... its back to being smooth again? It will keep doing this switch back and forth constantly. The game only uses about 400mb of ram, and even when its being laggy, lowering the graphics to bare-bones doesn't make the slightest difference.

I tried setting the core affinity to 1, 2 or both, that doesn't seem to make anything better. I tried raising the app priority, but vista keeps reseting it i think. And oddly, by minimizing the game and waiting about 30seconds, the game will go back to being smooth again.
What is going on??

Vista Home Premium
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

Hello, everyone, and thank you for any assistance you can provide with this issue. I searched for an answer using Google and the TG search function, but the issue is inherently difficult to search for, as it brings up a lot of off-topic results. If this has been asked and answered, a link to the answer would be appreciated, thanks again.

When working on my computer, I practice a sort of extreme mult-tasking - that is, I usually have numerous Office & PDF programs open and more specifically 3-4 IE browser windows at any given time.

I frequently click to a new page, or action, on one page, then switch back to Word, or to another window in the meantime while that page downloads, even if this only takes a second or two - that's a couple of seconds I could be doing something else.

IE does not seem to cooperate in this regard, however, in that I will often find myself unwillingly dragged back to a browser window, when the page has finished downloading, when there is activity there, PW request, etc. Is there any way to prevent IE from switching windows on me against my will, so that I will only be on the browser window I choose and never be dragged back to an old window, regardless of what is going on there?

I am using IE7; however, the same thing happened with my earlier IE6.

I have cable Internet, but I am also using a old and slow computer - will an upgrade solve this?

If so, given my penchant for mult-tasking, is a dual core processor the way to go?

A:Internet Exlorer windows bouncing back and forth

Welcome, LAEsquire.

I think the word you're looking for is "focus." You click on a certain window to get the focus there. Then some other application or window wants your input or wants you to see a message and it grabs the focus (and you find yourself typing into thin air!).

I know of no way to change this operation. Maybe there is a registry tweak.

Since this is a general Windows feature I suggest that you click on the red triangle and ask a moderator to move this thread to the Windows XP forum, where you are more likely to find an expert who knows about this.

The Firefox home page on my computer keeps switching back to flyingincognitosleep.com/cgi-bin/h.pl. This happens only to one of the two regularly-used users on the computer. Hi, I've recently been searching around the internet for some speed accelerators, etc., and tried a few. The next day I turned on my computer and my firefox loaded with a totally different webpage. This site called turbo-search101.com replaced my regular jpopasia.com/charts. So as anyone would do I'm sure, I opened up the options and changed it back. I clicked the home page button but the same page popped up! I checked my options again and it indeed said turbo-search101.com. So I tried it again. turbo-search101.com popped back up. I checked my antivirus and the "block any home page changes" was on, interestingly enough, the "alert me if an attempt is blocked" as also on. I uninstalled any software i might have downloaded but still came up with the same result.

Help please!

My Firefox just crashed, and while I have the restore sessions options selected, it only saved/restored one of several windows. Is there anyway to load the session prior to the last one? (The SessionSaver extension used to have this option, presumably for this very reason.)

A:Firefox: Previous - previous session restore

After much fruitless searching for an answer , I started messing around in my Firefox profile. In the end, with Firefox still open, I made a backup of my original profile, then closed Firefox, and in the new default profile I deleted the file "sessionstore.js" then renamed "sessionstore.bak" >>> "sessionstore.js" and restarted. Seems to work!

This morning emails I am sending to hotmail accounts I use every day are being bounced back with the message :"550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems." There is nothing different from usual about the eemails I am sending. What is going on please?

A:Windows Live Hotmail suddenly bouncing back emails

Hi Aroominyork, it is possible the mail server you use for sending mail has been added to a black list which is now causing you issues.

You need to find the IP of your SMTP server (which you can find probably in the returned emails), if not then copy and paste the contents of one of the returned emails here and we should be able to find it.

When you have the IP, try typing it in here and see what results you get.

Firefox just updated to Version 57.0 (64 Bit) on my work PC, running 64-Bit Windows 8.1 Professional. I don't know why, but I find the little blue bouncing ball in the left side of a tab while a page is loading to be very annoying. I tried going into about:config and setting toolkit.cosmeticAnimations.enabled to false, but the bouncing ball is still there. Is there another about:config setting I need to change or something in Options?

A:Help with mozilla firefox v1.0 bouncing around the place??

Fill in your User Profile (top left on any page).
It may be due to improperly installed graphics drivers, a loose/faulty monitor cable, or even your mouse and/or its drivers.
What OS are you running?

Dear awesome powers, facing a number of problems with laptop atm. i will began by describing the symptoms, followed by previous solutions tried. Appreciate any provision of assistance provided.

I mainly use chrome or firefox on my vista system. Over the last few week i've had to reboot my computer after every use as it slows down significantly after a few hours of usage, While surfing the internet, the search bar redirects me back to google or displays a website unavailable for a couple of instances before working fine again. Lastly, box ads pops up on the bottom right of the screen every few hrs.

For solutions garnered over the internet, i've tried the latest versions of tdsskiller.exe, Malwarebytes, AVG, Karpersky. All the above have been attempted to no avail.

Defogger have been used to disable emulation before i proceed. I have attached the ark and attach text files and the Dns file is as per below:

One of my computers loads the page but then reverts back to the previous page. I couldn't get far enough to even register on you forum before it would revert. I ran spybot and it found a lot of problems but it also said it fixed, yet I still have problem. Also affecting mouse. Left double click only works sporadically. Also noticed that sometimes my 3 key on the tenkey was acting like the enter button. What a mess!! Please let me know what I should do next!

A:internet page loads thenreverts to previous page; also mouse problems

Also tried to run the panda activescan but could not get it to scan. Popup would time out before activex could load.

I'm using mac OS 10.5. I am trying to reinstall a clean version of firefox which is not a problem but I can't figure out how to get my old bookmarks back in. The browser has a function to import bookmarks from Safari, Internet Explorer and Opera but not previous bookmarks from firefox. I've tried to replace the bookmarks.html file in the application support folder, but it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to doe this?

A:reinstalling firefox and importing previous firefox bookmarks

I don't know the differences between firefox for windows and mac, but in windows you would click on bookmarks - then click on organize bookmarks, you can import your html file there.

lately i'm having a prob. with the lil drop down thing next to the "go back one page" arrow
when i click on it a very tiny box appears, not the usual drop down that shows the last pages i've been to. the box is very small with nothing written in it.
the arrow still works to go back a page at a time, which sucks if i wanna go back 4 or 5 pages.

i'm starting to think one of my "add ons" is causing this not sure yet.
anyone experiencing the same thing?
any ideas?
thanks

A:firefox "go back" page drop down problem

Start Firefox in safe mode from your programs list, Mozilla Firefox> Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). This will run Firefox without any add-ons. You can also click on Tools> Add-ons, then select each add-on and disable them.
If it works then, enable the add-ons (one at a time) until you find the problem one.
