I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I need help in copying my contacts and email messages from my old laptop (Window 98, Outlook 2000) to my new laptop (XP Professional, Outlook Express 6).

At this stage i can boot up the old laptop, but it shuts down within a minute or two, how can i get my information off the old computer.

Could someone also give me step by step istructions on how to backup emails in a word document other than copying and pasting each email.

Thanks

Hi asharif

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Outlook 2000 uses a .pst file.

Do a Search for .pst and copy the .pst file to your new laptop.
You might check the C:\Windows directory first for your .pst file.

Outlook 2000 will also need to be installed on the new laptop to Import the information over to Outlook Express.

Once you copy over the .pst file to the new laptop, verify the .pst file is not marked Read-only, then open it with Outlook 2000.
Start Outlook Express,
File > Import Messages > Microsoft Outlook

Let us know if that works for you or not.

I log into email account for yahoo. Screen opens and it shows Loading... I am using a Vista Home Premium PC. There is nothing on screen but blank page. You see the headings menu in inbox. But, cannot see the inbox and mail. Is there a registry fix or regsvr32 script that I should run, or is there some type of .dll problem? Help or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thank you...

A:Email inbox show loading messages. Unable to view messages

You have not said what browser you are using so I will just give a guide using IE8.

The most common fix for this problem seems to be to delete your browsing history, cookies, etc. With the browser open click on Tools, Internet Options, then select Delete under Browsing History, on the next page uncheck all the boxes and click on Delete. Give it a minute or two to complete and then reboot the PC.

This will have deleted all your saved passwords so you will have to enter and save any you use.

This address will go directly to the mail page, if you get stuck, and you could also try using the refresh button.

Does anybody know how to copy and save outlook express messages in from Vista to another pc using XP?

A:Copying outlook express messages

Have a look in the file menu for Import and Export.

You should be able to export the messages then import them on the other machine, unless you mean you want to share mailboxes between both machines, in which case it isn't possible.

If you do want to share mailboxes, look at changing to using GMAIL (which can use to get email from other accounts too) then you can use Outlook express to view the email, but keep it stored online, meaning you can access it from both machines.

I recently moved to an Exchange server (2003) and started to copy items from my Inbox in my personal folders on my computer up to the Inbox on the Exchange server. Somewhere along the way, something happened that cancelled the copy. Now, my messages are gone in my Personal Folders Inbox and are not on the Exchange server inbox. Where did Outlook put them?

Thanks!

Why would this change? What can I do to again directly copy the screenshot into my email?

Also, is there a way to "mass copy" the files at one time?

I use Outlook Express 6 as my email client. I receive many emails containing graphics and formatted text that I would like to tweak a little, before forwarding them. I KNOW that I can edit text and delete some elements but I also know that things like the length are very hard to change. I also know that the format controls are locked into the CODE that is exposed when the SOURCE tab is clicked. Short of doing a course in HTML, I believe I can learn some basics about email source code, by tweaking it and seeing the results. But to document what has been tweaked, I should ideally be able to copy the source code UNCHANGED-by-the-copy-process into e.g. WORD or a Rich-Text-Format editor. I have not found any editor that I can paste source code into and have the copy look identical to the original. I thought FrontPage might do the trick, but it wont open EML. Is there a way of doing what I want to do ?

I have computer 1 with Office 365 Outlook - with email account. If I have a second computer and copy the .pst file from one computer to the other, I know that when I open Outlook all the existing emails will be there, calendar, etc. But if I have Outlook set to leave messages on the server, will the old messages be downloaded causing duplicates? I know that Outlook keeps an ID record of emails that are downloaded - but is this kept within the *pst file? If so then it should work that I can copy the *pst file and carry on without duplicates. I can understand that if I created a new blank account with nothing in it, then the old files would download...but will this still happen if I just copy & paste the email *pst account file across (keeping the name the same) - same Office 365....

When I send an email from my outlook 2007, it is copying the email I sent. A:Outlook copying myself on every email I send is cluttering my inbox

PST file corruption is the reason of this. Your PST may get corrupted due to various known and unknown reasons. Despite going in details about reasons behind corruption I would like to tell you the solution.
If you have a backup copy of PST file (created when the problem was not occurring), restore it. I will add that it will result in loss of important emails.
If backup copy is not available or you do not want  to lose your important emails, try to repair your PST file using a PST repair Software.
Many PST repair software are available from third party vendors, but only some are useful. SO while selecting a software make sure that it is from a certified vendor as well as software must provide a demo version to test the working of software in real world.

You can do some research on Google to get a good software. If you find that boring, reply here I will tell you about some good software.

Hope it will help.

A:how to back up email messages

Outlook should use a .pst file for all incoming and outgoing mail, plus addresses. Its likely a very big file though. It should be able to be re-imported, I have done so in the past.

In comparison Eudora is a lot simpler in my opinion. I gave up on Outlook Express, and also on Outlook, in favor of Eudora several years ago.

I receive large quantities of jokes from friends.
I would like to forward them on, but at the beginning of each line there is a "double indentation mark" looks like this >>>>>>>>>>
I believe I am receiving the joke in Plain Text, is this the reason these marks are at the beginning of each line.???????
When I forward the joke on, I remove all these >>>>>>>and forward it on as HTML.
What do these marks mean and is there a simple way to clean up the email before forwarding it on, rather than deleting each mark. Sometimes a joke has as many as 40-50 lines.
Sometimes the jokes have been forwarded on from other people to my friends., so the >>>>>could have originated at that time.
I hope I am making myself clear, as this is very new to me.
Many thanks.
My appreciation for such quick past replies.

You need a third-party program such as:

StripMail, freeware.
You don't say what Operating System, but it works from Windows 98 to XP.

http://www.snapfiles.com/get/stripmail.html

-OR-
eCleaner 2.02, freeware. Works from Windows 95 to 2000 (never tried it on XP, seems like it should work)

http://www.321download.com/LastFreeware/page7.html

To answer your question, it would not matter how you receive the joke, as plain text or HTML, they can still show up. Depending what client you use for email, you can make sure that you don't add to the mess by adjusting your settings.

I have a problem. I cannot delete ANY email messages. At first it started with just my Norton Anti-virus spam folder but now I cannot delete any messages even from my inbox. This is probably self-inflicted to some degree since I am not good at maintenance and ignored a lot of prompts to compact.

I am running Windows XP with outlook express. I have looked at previous postings on this problem. I have tried clean up techniques like de-fragging and reg clean. I have made sure that all my Windows updates and anti-viral stuff is up to date. I have tried the tools to compact and probably due to the advanced nature of my problem it isn't helping.

I have been getting a few spam messages on at least on of the PC's here at work that appears to be coming from another local PC. If a spam email has a certain valid address for the sender, which is more likely? It actually came from that PC or the address was spoofed somehow and the message originated somewhere else?

I have been running AVG internet security and spamihilator, but somehow problems still get through because a very recent run of Spybot found and fixed 122 problems. Time will tell if I need to run more diagnostics on the PC, but I wanted to get some opinions on the possible sources of the actual message.

I use windows 98SE, OE 6, AVG virus protection, free edition wiith no tech support. I thought I would pass my problem to you to see if you have any ideas. I have been getting many virus messages "Microsoft, Critical Patch" and AVG detects them when mail comes in and gives me a message that the virus is there and they will rewrite attachment and send message to virus vault. I click OK and then get another message that they were unable to send the message to the vault. My question is why will it not go to the vault. I have had previous virus messages and they did go to the vault. Thru "message rules" I have directed the Microsoft messages to go to my delete folder so I don't risk opening the message. From the delete folder I can go file and select all and delete all messages without clicking on the message. I also tried thru message rules to "Do not download from server" but they come in anyway. Hi, I have a friend of mine who sent out an email this morning to a group of people and I have received the same email (up to this point) 12 times today. I have another friend of mine who received the same email and she said she has received the same number of messages. Is there something I need to check on his computer to find out what the problem might be? I will be talkiing to him later to find out what kind of problem he might be having and I will probably be working with his wife to determine the problem. I will have her run HJT and spybot S & D and Adaware to find out if any of those have a problem. But is there anything specific that I should be looking for. I have the latest Norton's av definitions (just checked this morning) and I am not being told that there is a virus in these messages when they show up.

He did send out a file and all that is in the file is a powerpoint presentation.

Could you help me out with this?

It could just as easily be the server as his computer. I'm receiving e-mails from this forum for post that were made two days ago, and also for post that have never been made

We need more information about his computer in order to fix it (if it needs fixing). 9 out of 10 times its the servers fault. There has been a LOT of bad viruses lately and e-mail servers have been hit very hard I kind of feel sorry for them
