Outlook 2013 Folder Sync Issues

Q: Outlook 2013 Folder Sync Issues

Hey all,

So my outlook has been working fine until lately. Here is the problem, if I receive an email while outlook is open it won't show up in my inbox. Even if I do a manual send/receive command it won't appear. In fact it doesn't say "Syncing inbox" at the bottom. I can get it to sync if I change folders, or if I open and close outlook. I have tried changing multiple settings in Send/Receive Groups and general settings and nothing seems to fix it. Any ideas?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

With no way of knowing what you actually tried, in what order, and if all is back to where it was, all I can really suggest is that you remove the account info from Outlook, and create a new account. Working or not, at that point, please let us know.

I can't believe I can't find the answer to this dilemma, which I've tried to solve for years. Hoping someone might have some insights. I have my own business, and keep a Contacts table in Access 2013. I also have a Contacts folder in Outlook 2013 that I want to keep in sync with my database. Sometimes changes are made in Outlook (or using GSyncit to sync with Google on my phone or tablet) and sometimes when entering service calls in Access. When I go to created a "linked table" from Outlook to Access, I get a separate table of contacts that will not sync with my existing table. Every week, I have to literally export Access data to an Excel CSV and import into Outlook, then go through name by name to choose the latest entry to keep. Ridiculous! I've googled and googled, and I have found no joy. Any ideas??

I cannot figure this problem out!! This is my work email and I send about 100 emails a day so its very important. I always come here for help you guys are the best. I have searched Google for endless hours and cannot figure out the probelm. I have my sync set up every 2 minutes since I constantly get emails. The problem I am having is that the sync or send/receive keeps getting hung up and will stay at the screen below for 15-20 minutes and wont pull in emails. I have to cancel the task and manually send/receive everytime..I can't do that all day! Any advice on how to fix this would be great..

A:Outlook 2013 Problem sync send/receive.

Had this problem with a client computer. I had to turn off synchronization altogether. But they were ok with clicking send/receive when needed.

Have you tried adjusting the time window + or - to see if that helps?

Ultimately I think it's probably the volume of mail you have on the server that's bogging down the sync process.

Hello.

I use Outlook 2013 to manage my mails. I have different mailadresses from different hosters. Until now I used pop3 to retrieve my Mail, but now I want to synchronize my Mails between the Desktop-PC (Win 8.1) and the Tablet (Surface RT). Therefore I wanted to use my Outlook.com-adress, but actually this doesn't work as easy as I had expected. The Problem is, that I don't want to have severals In-Boxes, Out-Boxes etc for the different Mail-Accounts. With Pop3 I could receive all my mails in one single .pst-File. As far as I know this is not possible with the .ost-File, which is saved with the creation of a Exchange ActiveSync Account. And if I would accept two In-Boxes etc., so that I receive my Mails with the old Settings and move the Mails into the Outlook.com-Account, this also doenst work, because it isn't possible to move Mails from my .pst- to my .ost-File. The other way around it works.
Another possibility would be to forward the Mails to the outlook.com-Account, but then I wouldn't be able to send Mails from the different Accounts within Outlook.

So does anybody know a Solution for my Problem? I'll try to sum up what I want to do:
receive and send Mails from different hosters with Outlook 2013use my Outlook.com-Account to sync my mails, calender and contactsuse as little as possible In-Boxes, Out-Boxes etc.if necessary - moving Mails from one Account to the Outlook.com-account to synchronize

I hope someone can help me ...

I have Outlook 2013 installed on 2 Win 10 PCs. The first one is a 15" notebook and when I am looking at my email folders there is a line which shows on the extreme right "Current Mailbox" and to the left of that "Search current Mailbox" and then to its left "Mentions" and to its left "Unread" and to its left "all". On my desktop PC the same line shows "Current Mailbox" and to the left of that "Search current Mailbox" and then to its left "All (as a drop down menu)" and to its left "Inbox". I like the desktop view but cannot figure out how to modify the view.
How do I make the changes.

I have attached screen prints of the 2 views.

This is an odd one. I am at a clients house right now. When they click on attach file it takes them to "my documents" at first glance it looks right but when you click on the folder or subfolders it takes you to the wrong dir. But if you click on my documents on the left side it takes you to the correct my documents. Its really quite odd. I have tried making a new "string value" and even tried changing the "current version" (default location). No good it keeps pointing to this "phantom folder" please help me figure this out.

Our company uses Google mail for our email service. I have two IMAP accounts set up in Outlook 2013. Recently, all of the old Sent folder contents disappeared for one of the accounts and newly sent emails do not show up in it as well. The sent folder is working fine for the other account.

All of the sent messages do show up in the Sent folder when I access the account with my web browser. Recipients are receiving the emails. If I reply to an email in Outlook some of the received emails show an icon that I have replied, but not all of them. As far as I know, I have not changed any settings in Outlook 2013 or on the Google server.

Do I need to be checking and changing a setting in Outlook 2013 and or on the Google server?

A coworker reported today that they are having the same problem with their account. We are both running Windows 8.1 Pro.

A:Outlook 2013 Sent email folder always empty

I would say that this is a change that was at the server level of Google mail.

What are the settings for the sent mail in Options?
They should be in Outlook
File, Options, Mail
Then scroll down to the Save messages and make sure that there is a check mark for "Save copy.......sent file folder"
OK yourself out.

Hi there
Why does NEW software seem increasingly WORSE than the older releases -- Outlook 2010 (using IMAP) gives me local data folders(data file) and the IMAP (server) folders.

I can just about tolerate the horrible colours but :

Sometimes I just move / copy emails from the IMAP folder to the local folder so I can then delete them off the server --otherwise I can get zillions of emails stored on the server.

Office 2013 Outlook doesn't seem to have a LOCAL set of folders -- how do I set this up or is this not possible any more

(Thinking of reverting back to Outlook 2010 !!!).

Another horror - Whatever you set to reading pane it always shows TWO lines - subject and 2nd line is a bit of the email

I can't get a nice clean display like Outlook 2010

It would make more sense if that box was checked but it is not. Is there another place to uncheck something so that my deleted emails don't get deleted?

and okay, why am I concerned about messages being deleted from the trash folder anyway? because occasionally I need to look for deleted emails.  not very often but it has happened.  so I keep some of the ones that I've deleted.  well, not any more since I just discovered this issue in the last week.

Have you tried a complete uninstall & install of Outlook, including creating a new account (which creates a new PST file), followed by an FILE > IMPORT of your mail from your old/current PST file?

Make sure you FIRST move your old/current PST file out of the default folder before install so it does not try and automatically import the corrupted(?) PST file again.

If you need explanation or instruction, just ask.

Hi all, I don't have Office 2013 yet but I am intending to upgrade a computer to Windows 8.1 Office 2013. One of the primary uses of this computer will be email and currently the fastest way to do things is to send email directly from Word. I have looked it up on the net and found a website that says that you can do this with Office 2013:
http://www.howtogeek.com/172420/how-to-send-a-word-document-as-the-body-of-an-email-message/
The only problem is that right at the end it also says:
“Note that there’s no real record of your sent email except as a Word document. If you want to keep a copy of the message for yourself in your email program (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.), select Bcc from the Options drop-down menu (the same menu where you selected to add the From field) and enter your email address in the Bcc field.”
Unfortunately as these will be important emails I really need to know if they have been sent, without having to just trust the user to remember to save or Bcc it. So my question is: Is there a sure way to have email come up in the sent folder in Outlook when sent from Word 2013? If not I may not get Office 2013.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I will start at the beginning, it has been a frustrating couple of days since I had to reformat my hard drive.

I reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro sp1. I put the Microsoft firewall up to get the MS updates, and then I reinstalled Norton. I have a bug in my system that seems to be contained, for now that is.

I reinstalled office XP, and then i downloaded the update (SP3). I am not getting an alert that says that something is trying to get access to my Outlook contacts. I assume that it is my Hotmail account (yes, I do have the ability to download). I get the alert, click "OK" four or five times, and then Outlook locks up.

When I reformatted, I lost the software Sprint gave me to sync my Samsung i500 with Outlook. When I contacted them, they said tough, I had to buy more software. Frustrated, I broke down and bought Chapura. Now, I am probably so frustrated that I cannot get it started to sync even once.

Microsoft is now ignoring my requests for help to gain access to MSN mobile through my handheld. Does anyone have any infomration on how to get to msn mobile even though mobile.msn.com does not take me to a personalized homepage to get my information?

I am an intermediate user, so I know my way around a bit. I have a hijack this log available, as well as a Belarc run. Let me know if you need anything to help me with this problem. I am just frustrated.

Thanks.

Hi all,

Upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday and have come across a strange and frustrating issues.

While sending emails in Outlook 2013 a range of symbols appear as such - - when sent out (though not when composing the email).

Oddly, If I am forwarding or replying to an email the issue does not replicate.

The symbols I have noticed are " ' a [double space], and various others.

The problem occurs across all fonts, and seems exclusive to Outlook.

I think it may have something to do with the encoding. I cannot select anything from the drop down "Preferred Encoding for Outgoing Messages" option in Advanced setting (nothing in the fields_ ; and similarly the option to change encoding with the message-creation windows simply reads "unknown".

Any pointers?

Thanks!

Hi and Welcome to TSF!

I'd first recommend you use the repair tool built into Office. As if you were going to uninstall Office, make your way to the Control Panel, then uninstall a program. Select Office 2013, but instead of clicking uninstall, select Change.

This will run the installer and then select repair.

Hello,

I have a puzzler for the Outlook wizards. I'm wondering if somebody can help me recover my colleague's lost folders and messages. The short version is that I changed the Root Folder Path setting in Outlook 2013 for his IMAP account, resulting in the loss of several nested folders and contained messages that were apparently not synced by IMAP. Reverting the setting did not recover the folders/messages!

------- Long version ------------

Please bear with me on the explanation and please please do provide any relevant input that might help with this issue.

My colleague is using Outlook 2013 and had 2 IMAP accounts configured: 1 Gmail account and 1 other account (let's call it "Work"). At first, his issue was that several of his "Work" account folders nested under the Inbox were not syncing to his iPhone email client. I attempted to help by configuring IMAP folders in both applications.

The provider of the Work email specifies that the path for IMAP folders should be configured as "INBOX." Therefore I set this path on his iPhone and changed the Root Folder Path in Outlook 2013 for the Work account to the same, "INBOX".

Upon the change in Outlook 2013, his nested folders immediately disappeared, including all of the contained messages. I reverted the setting back to the default (blank), which restored only 1 folder with a handful of messages, one that apparently had been configured as an IMAP folder, but the rest of the folders were ... when exporting as a csv file you have to map custom fields first and take the email 1 address and move it into the other side for the addresses to get in there (from left to right) or the email addresses will not go correctly into the computer you want to do it to. If you back it up with *.pst then everything goes in much easiwer

Hi there
Unless you have an ACTIVE Internet connection (or other Network Mail Server connection such as Exchange) you will NOT be able to set up OUTLOOK 2013.

Outlook 2013 requires (and there is no option unlike in Outlook 2010 to disable it by unchecking a box) a TEST email to be sent and working before your account(s) can be configured-- Once it's done you don't have to be online but if you need to set up several accounts and you don't have a working internet connection -- Tough luck.

Why on earth did Ms do this --it's not necessary and it is a Hassle for some people who are on the road, have purchased Office 2013 and want to set it up instead of having to wait until they get home.

Also a hassle if they want to prepare company laptop computers with email parameters in advance of the new Exchange email servers being rolled out to the users.

Even if your work policy has mechanisms where the USER can configure the email connections themselves they won't be able to set it up until the Servers are actually in place so you can't set the accounts up in advance.

The box I've shown here is from Outlook 2010. In Outlook 2013 the option is filled in and greyed out so you can't change it.

BTW I prefer and use Office 2010 myself but was trying to help a colleague to set up Office 2013.

Cheers

Of course you can uncheck the Test email box. It has been so in all Outlook versions, is still so in Outlook 2013.

The option is grayed out exactly as long as the NEXT button is grayed out i.e. as long as they could not be used due missing credentials, until the setup has all relevant information for an email account to work (email address, incoming and outgoing servers, username and password). When you have filled the needed credentials, both the Test box and NEXT button become visible and can be clicked / selected.

Although I could well understand that setting up an email account, which in any case needs a working connection, would require an existing connection, this is not the case with Outlook 2013. You can set your email accounts up while sitting in a pub in Brussels watching Premier League Football without Internet connection if you want to .

HI Guys, tried uninstalling office 2010 to open Outlook 2013 when I got the two following errors:

1: The resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft exchange. Contact your email administrator for assistance.

2: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Your Microsoft exchange administrator has blocked the version of Outlook that you are using. Contact your administrator for assistance.
Does anyone know what these two errors are referring to and how I can fix it so I can start using Outlook 2013?

Many thanks.

Hi there

Whoever designed the base colors for Office 2013 must have been totally STONE DEAF and COLOR BLIND at the same time. I can't believe that comments weren't made before this stuff was allowed out of the door.

There's almost no possibilities to customize the backgrounds or colors and on a large monitor the base white looks really HIDEOUS -- you need a good pair of Sunglasses while working with it.

The only other choice is some type of Grey (shown in screenshot) which looks very similar to "The Fruit Company's Window colour scheme. Still looks hideous and that Blue !!!!!.

Outlook also displays the unread message titles in the most sickly blue (can't seem to change it) I've ever seen.

Before I remove this POS from my computer is there anyway to De-Uglify or customize like I had in Office 2010 with the Black background.

I don't like it opening with a prompt screen before I get the base screen (often needs another TWO keyboard strokes !! -- example for EXCEL 2013 shown) -- I should be able to open it in a Window with the menus just like like Office 2010. It means I now have to make a load of extra keyboard strokes before I actually get a workbook screen to start getting my work done.

I don't want the sign in reminders either -- I don't intend to use Cloud services etc.

Cheers
jimbo

No there isn't a way (that I know of) to change it. It was too cumbersome and hogged my Internet Speed with Cloud and whatnot; so I went back to good ol' office 2010. Maybe you should too

Hi

We have few laptops (windows 7 pro) for sales rep and Offline file enable to sync their documents which are on SBS 2011 server.

I don't know why it try to sync some other users (My video , My music , etc ) files and error says "access denied" or

“The Process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process”

we have tried many times and confirm there's no one using those files but still same error

I found this article on forumbut not sure how much this valid to SBS 2011, and if it's known issue why not there's fix patch yet from Microsoft

On the 2003 server I had to ADD this reg entry and set it to 0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MRXSmb\Parameters\
OplocksDisabled REG_DWORD 0 or 1
Default: 0 (not disabled)

And then Changed this entry to 1:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters

EnableOplocks REG_DWORD 0 or 1
Default: 1 (enabled)

Long story short....I got called over to a friends Mom's house. Her Outlook 2007 (Full Outlook...not Express ) on her Laptop was having problems and someone else got there first and exported all her contacts and profiles to go ahead and import it to her Desktop PC that she does not use. (This was to be a temporary solution)

I came over and her problem with the laptop outlook 2007 is that when she composes an email Outlook does not see her "addressbook", even though if she clicks on "contacts" folder everyone is there.

I went thru all the steps on the following page to "add the address book service to the profile" and to then "get outlook to recognize the address book on the profile"

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197577

None of this worked. I then advised her I would just uninstall ALL of Microsoft OFFICE and then re-install it and that should solve the problem since will have to re-enter all the account info into Outlook. So I uninstalled Office. REstarted the Laptop. Then installed Office on the Laptop. Then I opened up Outlook via the program menu bar. When it opened, it showed up all her folders and inbox and account info as before. It was as if the program was never uninstalled!!! I always double check when I restart a system via the control panel to make sure the program is no longer showing up.

Is there some other magical way to uninstall Outlook in Vista??? My only other option for her is to press "Control F... Read more

First time post, so apologies if i dont write this out following some established protocol ; )...

For some reason over the last couple of days my pop3 email accounts set up in outlook express no longer move the messages from outbox to the sent folder after they have effectively sent. I get an error message from OE, but the details are blank. The messages are being sent, and because they do not leave the outbox they are being sent repeatedly. Obviously one solution is just to delete it myself, but i keep records of the email as this is a company account. This is annoying to the people im sending the emails, and annoying to me as I end up having to delete the emails and losing the record of it.

I have tried deleting the outbox.dbx file but it doesn't help. Sent messages from my hotmail account through OE work fine and move from the outbox to the sent folder without any problem. I have not changed any settings in my POP3 accounts that would explain why this suddenly started happening. I have also tried removing the POP3 accounts, re-starting OE, then re-entering the POP3 accounts, but makes no difference.

I then tried installing the accounts on Outlook, and same problem.

Any insights / suggestions / instructions?

I have thousands of emails in the program that I don't want to lose so do not want to un-install unless I have exhausted any other possible solutions.

Have you done full virus scans?

Saving off your .dbx files to another folder and doing an un-install / re-install is not that time consuming.

Yesterday, my Outlook (2010) stopped retrieving e-mail from the Comcast server.  When I tried to fix it today, it still wouldn't work.  All the settings were correct, but it wouldn't retrieve my e-mail.  I deleted the account and recreated it.  Now, Outlook points to a new .pst file instead of my old Outlook.pst file, named [email protected]  To make matters worse, it doesn't delete the mail off the server.  Before, when I would open Outlook, it would download new message to my Inbox and delete them off the server.  The new messages would stay permanently in my Outlook inbox.  No more.  Now if I manually delete one through my Internet browser, it also deletes it out of my Outlook Inbox.  It’s as though the new account is just a window to the Comcast e-mail server.  I tried changing the Root Folder Path on the Advanced tab of the e-mail account settings to point to the location of my Outlook.pst folder, but that made no difference.  I also tried deleting a recent Microsoft update (KB3054976), but this did not help, either. This is a complete disaster for me, as I can't even send e-mail now, except through the server.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:Outlook 2010 e-mail account won't sync to Outlook.pst file

I figured this out.  When I reconfigured my e-mail account in Outlook, I used IMAP settings instead of POP3.  This was not how I did it before.  IMAP works great if one wants to keep all e-mail out on the server and access it from various devices.  That isn't what I do.  I changed the profile to POP3 and the poblem was solved.  Still don't know why it initially failed two nights ago, though.

I used Zinstall to move all my files/programs from my old computer to my new one in the last few days. I also upgraded the new one from 8.1 to Win10 after the migration. Knowing Win10 doesn't work with MSOffice2007, I subscribed to MSOffice365 in the new computer. Now, Outlook 2013 doesn't show the same folders I had in Outlook 2007, and I need to know where all my saved files went and how to import them to this system. (They are still sitting in my old computer, if I have to copy them to a zip drive & move them again.)

As a translator I need to recreate old e-mails and attachments to avoid to have to translate an entire novel once again. (After a few years, the publisher now wants to publish a new edition).

But the only place this file is located, is as an attachment in my old outbox in Outlook Express 6.

Unfortunately OE6 is history long ago on my computers, and no longer available.

But I have managed to get out the .bak files from the old hard drive. Now I need to get out the contents.
The files are inbox.bak, sendt.bak and deleted.bak

Now I use Outlook 2013.

I have seen for me to first convert .bak file to .dbx, then convert .dbx to .pst, and finally to import .pst into Outlook 2013.

But whether this is possible or the best way, and how I do this easiest, I have no idea.

All the solutions I've found on the web until now requires that I have OE6. Which I have not.

Is there anyone who can help?
Is there a procedure or an utility to help me out?

I am so confused about where outlook 2013 keeps things.

I have installed Outlook 2013 and would like to import my contacts from my outlook 2007 in another computer. I have already prepared the contacts.pst file from outlook 2007 and made it available in my public folders. I then imported the .pst file into Outlook 2013 via network. However the contacts shows up as a separate contact list rather than integrated into the outlook 2013 address book . How to correct it?

I must have got the process wrong.

Thanks

A:outlook 2013 import contacts from outlook 2007

OK. I found the imported contacts in a separate list inside the address book. There are 2 lists one is "In This computer" the other is just "contacts" . How do I make the "contacts "list as the default so I get an address book when I click on 'To" ?

I have a Dell Inspiron 660 running Window 8.1 Pro.

I had been using Outlook 2013 for about a month with no problems, when I got a message saying my OUTLOOK.PST file was approaching maximum size of 2Gb. However, I could not open it to compact it or delete items to bring the size down. I just kept getting the "approaching maximum size" error.

Outlook was NOT asking for a password for my mail server, It's specifically asking for a PW to open OUTLOOK.PST.

So, I opened the OUTLOOK.PST file in Outlook 2007 successfully, did some housekeeping, and reduced the size to about 700Mb. However, when I tried to open the PST in Outlook 2013 again, I was prompted for a password to open the PST. I tried my MS Account PW, and several other PWs, but none worked. I never set a PW for the OUTLOOK.PST in the first place. I was never prompted for a PW before the "max size" error came up.

I am able to open the file in Outlook 2007 without being prompted for a PW but every time I try to open it in OL2013, I get the PW prompt.

I have also run the SCANPST.EXE utility on the OUTLOOK.PST file, but that has not changed the PW prompt.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ken
