New PSU and GPU and my comp is still crashing regularly

Q: New PSU and GPU and my comp is still crashing regularly

First, my PC specs...
CPU- AMD Phenom 2, 3.2ghz 6-core
PSU- Apevia 680W(old PSU) and Corsair CX750M(new PSU)
GPU- Radeon 6750HD(old GPU) and GeForce GTX 650TI(new GPU)
MOBO- Asus Evo AXT (about 4 years old)
RAM- 2x4GB dual-channel 1600hz corsair
My issues started when I decided to upgrade my GPU to the GeForce 650TI. I got it, plugged it in and all that goodness, but my games kept crashing. At first, my PC would say that the drivers were crashing. I, being stupid, decided to keep the card and fight through it until the drivers were updated and would be more stable. The crashes didn't stop, however. Then came the BSOD. It's constant and unpredictable. The only time it happens is when I'm gaming, but it can happen once every 5 hours or once every 20 minuets (lately, more frequently). So, I finally was able to afford a new PSU today, as everything I've read said that MUST be the problem. It didn't do anything whatsoever. SO, with the new PSU and new GPU in, I decided to put my old GPU in and see what happened. Logically, taking steps to make sure none of the drivers were overlapping, ect. I assumed it would work. Nope. New PSU and old GPU, still constantly getting blue screens, even at low video settings in the game. I'm not running other programs or background operations. No antivirus, ect. I've been into my BIOS to look at my 12v fluctuation and on the old PSU it's between 11.76 and 12.03 and on the new one it's between 11.97 and 12.03, so the new PSU is quite a bit more stable, but with either installed, the system is blue-screening just as frequently.

I've been mostly playing "Smite" and also tested this in "Crysis 2" and "Counter Strike: GO" all at max settings. Smite takes the least system resources and is the most infrequent, being anywhere from 3 hours to 10 minuets of play time before crashing. CS:GO, the second most strenuous, didn't crash at all in the approximately 30 minuets of playtime. And Crysis 2 couldn't even get past the sinking ship in the first 5 minuets of the game. I reloaded Crysis 2 and Smite at lower settings but to no avail.

The only other thing I could think that it is would be my RAM, which is fairly cheap and old. My motherboard has also been the victim of 2 lightning storms that killed the onboard sound and networking and now I've got separate PCI cards for both. Maybe the MOBO is so partially fried it's not delivering power well?

Preferred Solution: New PSU and GPU and my comp is still crashing regularly

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just picked up a new computer today (second-hand), and I'm having some issues. It's running W7, and every time I turn it on, it will run for about 1 minute before it powers off. I've turned the cooling dial at the back on full, and still it does this... I cannot run anything, as it simply won't run. Here are the specs, and I'm not tech savvy so if you chaps could keep the answer as simple as possible that'd be great.

Intel Core2 Quad CPU @ 2.88GHz
3GB DDR3 RAM @ 1000MHz
1TB Primary HDD
250GB Secondary HDD
Thermaltech Watercooling
Thermaltech 800W PSU
ATI Radeon HD4670 w/1GB ded. RAM

Hi everyone, first time posting, thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer. I have been getting a lot of crashes on my computer, the frequency is increasing lately - nearly every day at some point. Often when I am working on multiple programs at the same time, or when I am accessing Photoshop or videos. I get the BSOD, it has run Checkdisc a couple of times with no errors, although usually just restarts.

Not sure what is causing it, have the latest version of the video driver, antivirus up to date.

Here is the info from TSG Sysinfo:

Hi guys.

I've had my laptop for a almost a year and a half now. Within 3 months of having it, I had recieved my first blue screen. I didn't pay too much attention to it as I didn't use the laptop much but these continued and started to happen more frequently (upto 5/6 times a month instead of once every few months). I took a photo of the blue screen with my phone:

Everytime it goes to crash dump, it says "physical memory dump failed with status 0xc000009c"

Also, 90% of the time before it crashes/blue screens, any sound i'm playing becomes distorted for a few seconds then the screen will freeze and crash.
Recently while watching a video on youtube, the screen turned multicoloured as shown below. (not sure if its related to my problem but i thought it would be worth mentioning anyway)

Lastly, I had left my laptop running with a browser open while I watched TV and when I came back the screen had froze and the fan was blowing constantly.
I have uploaded the files from the SF_Diagnostics tool as an attachment

Any help would be great as its starting to become very frustrating.

A:BSOD/crashing regularly

First, welcome to SevenForums, Andy55. We will try to help you.

We need your dump files. There isn't any in your zip file.
Check this :

1. Go to System Properties (right click on Computer icon, and click properties)
2. Go to Advanced System Settings.
- If you asked by UAC, click yes.
3. In Advanced Tab, Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
4. For System Failure make sure you have settings like this :
- Write an event to system log : On (checked)
- Write debugging information - Small Memory Dump (256 KB)
- Click OK and restart your computer if you changed something.

Note : Make sure you don't use CCleaner, or any Disk Cleanup tool because that will delete dump files.

After this follow this tutorial : http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Then upload zip file again.

I posted this in the wrong place.

Newbie here. My tech knowledge is limited.

I have done a clean install of a Windows 7 (purchased new) and it has been running now for about 2 weeks, but keeps crashing (blue screen).

Dunno what it is, but OMG i'm going NUTS trying to get it running stable. It has crashed during document writing, picture viewing, zip file creation... there seems no common thread.

I have searched and searched, but don't really know what to try. Will post any other information that may help. I really want to nail this, WITHOUT having to buy a new computer if I can help it.

The problems seem to have occurred ever since install. I installed the OS and then iolo antivirus, office and a few other apps. The system has been unstable since this time.

All drivers are updated using windows update (including optional updates).

Ram is 4.0 GB but I don't know how to find out what type.

I am running iolo system mechanic 9.5.3 which has iolo system shield (antivirus) attached to it. Iolo states this is compatible with win7

Something else that turned up...

Windows 7 generated an error report: "blue screen error caused by a device or driver". However when I go to update drivers on windows update it says no important updates are available, and I have installed all optional updates as well.

There are 5 problems (ie blue screen shut downs) the error message applies to. Here is the info Windows 7 has provided for 2 of them:

For the last 6 weeks or so my PC has stated to regular crash or blue screen, normally once every day or two days, but on occasion 3 or 4 times a day at its worse. The crashes come in a variety so I am not sure how to problem shoot. Are the system error logs I can show you guys or anything? Example crashes below:

1. Bluescreen, I have seen at least two different bluescreen messages appear regularly, unable to catch the exact name though. One was something similar to
System_Service_Exception. Bluescreens have happened at various time without a pattern i.e. whilst using one set program.

2. Computer freezes needing restart. This happens more regularly than the blue screen, I can be playing a game like Crysis, or simply browsing and the computer will simply hang and I have to restart the PC from power switch.

3. Every single day without fail I will have two mini crashes. This is where the computer freezes for about 5-6 sec and then resumes again. The first crash will happen about 15-20 after power-up, the second mini crash will happen about 10 mini after the first.

Any ideas please let me know. Ill provide as many logs/information as you can tell me how to find!

My new install of AC3 Windows 8 Pro keeps crashing every ten minutes or so. I think the problem is with some key combinations pressed in the game that bring up some shortcuts even when I'm in the game. I know this since pressing Alt+Tab a couple of minutes in shows the "Immersive background" and "Search settings" menus up on the desktop.

Anyone have any idea how to prevent these shortcuts from executing when in game? I'm not pressing any of the keys except W,A,S,D and the space bar and the two mouse buttons. Thanks!

My computer has developed a very annoying BSOD problem recently and I am unable to pinpoint what I might have done to cause this

? Windows 7 Professional
? x64
? Vista Home Premium x32
? Full retail version
? 27 months
? October 2009 (Win 7 release)
? Intel Q6600
? His/ATI HD 5670
? Motherboard : As supplied - Dell XPS 420
? Power Supply : As supplied - Dell XPS 420

These BSOD were very rare then started to get more regular. Usually fairly soon after restart. Another odd thing also started recently which I guess is probably realted - during boot and shutdown there is a very long period of about 5-10 minutes when nothing seems to be happening then all of a sudden the process continues.

A:BSOD : Computer Regularly Crashing for past week

Hi and welcome to TSF what dvd software are you using, and are you running a vpn

Recently my Vista install has become very unstable. BSODs are becoming very regular, often occuring within about 5-10 minutes of each other.
I've been having trouble installing games such as Sims 3 and Supreme Commander; they complain of CRC errors when copying the files. However, the discs work fine in other computers, and trying to copy the files to an ISO and mounting it on this computer had the same error, so I don't think it's a DVD Drive problem.

Firefox often shuts down with no error message, it just closes everything. I also often get Vista windows coming up saying 'Superfetch' or 'Host Process and Services' has crashed and needs to shut down.

I've ran a quick scan with Anti-Malbytes which didn't find anything. I've also run chkdsk with /f and /r set on startup, which found no bad sectors or anything on the hard drive.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? I'm considering reformatting the drive with either XP or Windows 7, Vista has caused me nothing but problems so far.

I'm running Vista with the newest service pack, and all updates installed.

Thank you.

As stated in the title, my computer is overall going really slow, and my Windows Explorer is crashing on a fairly regular basis; about every 2 or 3 minutes. I also lose my internet connection temporarily as Windows Explorer restarts. When my internet does load, there are a lot of sites that I can't access.

I've removed a number of various Trojan viruses already, but now I can't even boot up normally. Luckily, I can boot in safe mode with networking, so I can still access this site.

Hi all,
PC is running XP - updated to SP3

The Back Story:
Last week my computer started to act up. My motherboard has been going for some time now, and that led to one of my monitor inputs (i dual screen) failing. However, on the Sunday morning, I turned it on to find my main monitor not working. I plugged in the old monitor into that same plug and it worked, and then i plugged in my main monitor into the plug that i had used for my old monitor, and strangely it worked. Yet they would not work the other way.

When I then booted up applications, things started crashing everywhere. I use Lacuna Launcher (basically just a quick batch file to launch several applications together) and out of Itunes, MSN Messenger, Steam, Opera, Ventrilo and KeePass, only KeyPass didnt crash. I could then go and lunch Itunes, MSN Messenger, Opera and Ventrilo individually and they would work.

Opera (happens on firefox and IE as well) is crashing regularly, mainly when there are multiple tabs open. I have noticed (but cant confirm due to the highly rare occurence of it and my lack of concentration) that on VERY rare occasions while browsing the internet, I will get redirected to advertising pages. This has only noticeably happened twice in the past week though. I have also noticed memory usage rises to very large amounts (around 100K) in the firefox process when Opera is crashing (i have firefox open for facebook, and opera to browse, so that neither programs crash from multiple tabs), yet Opera&#... Some Updates on the problem.

Today Opera has totally stopped working. It loads up the interface but then crashes straight away. I find this strange considering it was loading for a whole week (albeit with a lot of crashing) before this happened.

MSN Messenger also occasionally drops out (but not the entire internet, as it drops out I am still talking to people on Ventrilo, a VOIP application, and there is no drop out or latency or anything. This can occur on other applications as well, but is most prevelant on MSN Messenger
I have kept my firewall (ZoneAlarm) on at all times, but am concerned that perhaps it may have a way of storing personal data (other members of my family use this computer and credit card details may or may not have been entered on the computer this week) such as credit cards or passwords. Does anyone know whether the malware that has been found here has compromised my data in any way? Naturally that is always a risk with malware but perhaps someone might know for this specific case.

Hello, not sure if this is a hardware problem or a software problem. But my brother's computer is crashes spontaneously, usually when he either runs a game or is using internet explorer(tho one time he left his computer on and left the room and came back and it was off, then he got an error message and we had to use the recovery console to fix it). Anyways, it works now, thought highly doubt it will stop from crashing again unless I do something. What steps would I take to ensure that it won't do that?

He's got windows xp home and avg free virus protector, windows defender, and I have ran the defrager, disc cleanup, scan disk, and scanned with windows defender and the avg free. Is there any other measures I can take to maybe fix an internal system error that keeps crashing his computer? or do you think its his ram cards(running dual 1 gig sticks, so 2 gigs total) or processor that's doing this?

Any help would be great. Thankyou and sorry if I posted this in the wrong category.

A:Comp keeps crashing

We would have no way of diagnosing the problem unless we have the error codes.

Do you receive a blue screen when it crashes?

Navigate to C:/Windows/minidump. If there any files there - zip them up and upload to your post.

Not sure where to post this but after playing World of Warcraft or too much multimedia playing, comp would crash. It would just freeze up.

It all started when I fooled around with Regedit and played around with the memory management and page pool size settings etc. I've set it back to what it was before but that didnt seem to have done anything.

Im thinking it had something to do with that or perhaps memory if not overheating.

How can I pinpoint my problem more?

Any scanners I can download etc?

last week I started having random crash issues (when turning on comp after leaving it in sleep), it seemed to have a long pause when turning on, i would get a message that boot failed from BIOS, I would reset and it would start up the 2nd time with "windows did not shutdown properly" message, I also had other issues appear so I re-installed windows about a week back...well.. went to turn on comp tonight and nothing was happening for a while, then eventually it started with the "Windows did not shutdown properly" message... I left the computer in a sleep state last night, she used it this afternoon, she said she went too shutdown but it reported I was logged in so she walked away from it, so it should sleep after 10 minutes...

...anyway, when it started the avast service was running and set to automatic in the services menu...I had this service set too manual in both her and my account with the tray icon set not too load either - basically I dont have it running but I have it installed so i can load it when I want with my ON/OFF scripts... the event viewer doesnt say anything other than shutdown at 4pm ish was unexpected... personally I think its shutdown illegally for some reason, but when booting immediately after one of these "crashes" it crashes again...th... In the meantime I have a HJT log just in case there is anything on there. By the way, I did the log whilst in safe mode but will reboot and do another one for normal Windows.

Please help, my computer crashes randomly, when i say freezing, i mean the screen turns blue and it makes the computer restart, where i have the option of starting windows normally or in safe mode or save mode with networking. I chose safe mode with networking and things have been working ok like this, Its not when i open any specific program, it can happen as soon as my computer starts up or after my comp been working for a while. Also, since this started happening, my internet expolorer doesnt work anymore, it will usually say that internet exploror has stopped working and windows is checking for a solution, which it never finds, and it shuts it down. i have to use google chrome to get on the internet. I dont know anything about computers, i tried to restore it to an earlier date but it wont let me do that and everytime i turn on my computer the normal way (im in safe mode now) an error sign from norton comes up saying 5013,3 is wrong with it and how to fix it, but that didnt work either. Someone please help me, i have no idea how to fix this and this seems like a good website filled with people who know what they are doing. Oh, so everyone knows, i am computer illiterate. recently (like within the past few days) my comp has been crashing constantly, not with the usual stuttering followed by the blue screen of death, but just straight up shutting down suddenly, the computer itself turns off, then reboots itself a few seconds later

my computer had been crashing a lot the "normal" way awhile back, but i was pretty sure it was due to a rootkit virus, and i was able to fix that, it hadn't crashed in months, and now this started

I'm posting this from my brothers laptop because my comp crashes so often that i wouldn't have time to post this from my computer

i am desperate for help and i don't really know what to do or where to go, please let me know if you need any more information and i'll do my best to provide it

Programs I have:
Windows Vista (Basic)

When i run them they just stop responding as does the laptop. Is it a security issue or is there something I can do?

I've recently got a Packard Bell IXTREME X6618 UK
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @2.34 GHZ
Memory : 4.00 GB
System Type: 64-bit.

I've only had the computer for around about 4 months.
So it's fairly new. In the past week-2 weeks. The PC has been turning itself off randomly at any time. It only seems to switch itself off when i run a gaming program like : L4D or CSS etc.
I only last about 5-10 mins in the games until it usually turns itself off and doesn't restart.
I've run scanners and nothing is in my computer.
It has increasingly become to frustrate me as i just want to game with my friends online without having any issues.

I have to say that sometimes it runs perfectly fine for an hour or two then turns itself off, but that's only rare.
I've un-installed norton/symantec off the pc as it came out of the certain amount of months i had to use it period and i know it can cause problems.

I don't know what else could be going wrong. I have moved the computer about a few times but i've never hit it or moved it about harshly for anything inside to go wrong.

I hope to hear back asap. Thank you for your support and time.

Edit: I am also wondering if it has anything to do with my Windows Vista. I am not entirely sure of the problem, so i posted in this thread for the meantime.
