Windows 8 Booting (IGPU works, PCI-E GTX750Ti doesn't work properly)

Q: Windows 8 Booting (IGPU works, PCI-E GTX750Ti doesn't work properly)

Hi guys,

I have a problem and I've tried to figure it out for the whole day now.

It's mind-boggling and SUPER frustrating at the same time.

Basically I installed a fresh copy of Windows 8.1 Pro to my computer and when I plug both DVI cables into the GTX 750Ti (I run Dual monitors) it goes to the 'Windows 8 Blue logo start up but then suddenly my monitors have no signal (and my mouse turns off, aka it looks like my USB shutsdown) but my mobo is still on + cpu fans/case fans, etc.

So I tried using the IGPU and it works fine, you can plug one DVI into the IGPU DVI out, and one monitor DVI to the GTX750Ti and it will boot into windows fine.

The biggest thing that boggles me is that upon a fresh install it worked fine, AND I can reinstall windows fine again, but it *SEEMS* like after I install the NVIDIA graphics card drivers it starts happening again and I can only use IGPU to boot into windows. Now, when I first installed windows it was working fine, till I shut it down and it won't boot again hence having to try IGPU. I tried formatting, I've tried everything!

All my parts are brand new, I've tried everything there is to try, and googled alot (I've enabled/disabled secureboot multiple times, I've done 'primary display adapter 'PCI-E' and switched between them), I've tried almost everything!

My specs are as follows:

ASUS Geforce GTX750Ti GPU
Asrock H97M-ITX/ac MOBO
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8gb
Samsung EVO 840 SSD

I've fiddled around with all the Asrock bios settings to no avail.

Someone help me PLZ!!!! As I need my computer for the week

Preferred Solution: Windows 8 Booting (IGPU works, PCI-E GTX750Ti doesn't work properly)

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

The craziest thing is - Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't - remember it goes to blue windows 8 logo AND THEN there is no monitor signal.
If I use Integrated Graphics it 100% always works. I'm thinking it might be some sort of bios problem maybe? I really don't know anymore :|

Hi. This problem affects my Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 computer.
Occasionally, when I log on the computer after locking it for a long time, the keyboard acts as if the Windows Key is depressed. (Pressing E opens explorer, R opens the Run dialog, U opens Accessibility Options, etc.)

This is fixed easily by entering the security dialog (Ctrl+Alt+Del). However, once I do this, the Windows Key appears to stop functioning.
Tapping it will not open the start menu (for the record, nor will Ctrl+Esc), and none of its combinations work except Winkey+L to lock.

Can someone explain to me why this happens and how to fix it?

I realise this subject has just about been done to death, e.g. by Lithium on 07-06-2011, but I just have to let off steam somehow - it really doesn't seem to work! Let me explain.

I recently acquired an HP Pavilion dv7 laptop computer, with Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium pre-installed. While I was excitedly making my first investigations of Windows 7, I created another partition, labelled A:, and moved all my documents to it from C:, using the Location tab of My Documents Properties. I do this in order to have data in a different partition from the system files, in case the OS partition gets trashed for any reason.

Eventually, I needed to find a file which I knew existed amongst a certain group of folders. I was astonished when Search failed to find it, and I eventually had to track it down by hand. Since then I have established that Search will not find any files on my A: partition, no matter what folders I specify in the Included Locations on the Indexing Options dialog box. Indeed, if I select Advanced, to go to where I can force a Rebuild of the index, when I come out again Indexing Options will remove any additions I made to the search locations, and reinstate the original (not very useful now) defaults of Start Menu and Users. Even if I do a search from Windows Explorer while sitting in a folder on A: just above where I know a specific file is, Search will fail to find that file.

I have looked through stacks of forums and other help sources givi... Read more

I have found several issue on excel now I'm using windows 7.

When you select multiple cells, using control, they aren't highlighted.

I also have issues with excel crashing all the time, even on relatively small files and running on a 8Gb machine

Anyone else having the same issues?

A:Excel 2007 doesn't work properly with windows 7

Hello Ben,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

I did not have this problem with Excel 2007 when I used it in 7. First I'd try doing a repair install of 2007 to see if that fixes it. If not, I would do an uninstall/reinstall of Excel or maybe the whole suite. I had a prob with Outlook 2007 that required me to reinstall the entire suite. Only thing I lost were the jumplists on the pinned icons. All other settings remained.

Hope this helps.

I have no idea what my sister and her friends were doing on the comp for a couple of days that i decided not to use it, but now:

- a few programs take forever to load or don't load at all, but they do show up under the processes tab in the task manager
- after pressing Ctrl Alt Del, the task manager icon appears in the system tray, but the thing only shows up a minute later
- my system recovery is "not able to protect my computer," and restarting does nothing
- actually, when restarting or shutting down Windows, it stops at where it only shows my desktop background and cursor [which is still able to move] and nothing else after that, so i have to hold the power button and force it to shut off
- when I right click the desktop and click on "Properties..." [or something similar to this action] it doesn't show up at all, and whenever I try to open any application after that, they don't even load at all either

Things i've tried to get rid of these problems:
- Virus scan with avast!, a couple viruses found and fixed, but nothing changed.
- disk clean up, nothing changed
- registry clean, nothing changed
- CURRENTLY defragging my C drive, hope something changes..

Anyone know what the heck's going on!?
Anyone got any suggestions on what to do next?
Anything helps and would be greatly appreciated!

A:Apps not starting properly, sys. recov. doesn't work, can't shut down properly, etc..

anyway, just stopped by to say that when shutting down, it takes forever to get to the "Saving your settings..." screen, and that's where I decided that it stops and nothing else after that.

I have 3 drives, C:, D:, and E:. E: is just a storage drive. XP was originally installed on the D: drive. I installed Win7 on the C: drive following the instructions at Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP. After installing Win7, I didn't get an option to boot XP so I used EasyBCD to add an XP entry to the boot menu. That worked, but after I boot into XP, if I shutdown or restart I get an error message about the Windows Boot Manager that says

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem
...
etc
...
File: \boot\bcd
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data."

Then I have to run startup repair from the Win7 disk. But then I just get stuck with Win7 and no boot menu entry for XP. If I try EasyBCD again, the same process results. How can I fix this?

A:Dual booting XP and Windows 7 doesn't work after using XP

Please post back a screenshot of your full Disk Management drive map and listings, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu.

Are you using EasyBCD 2.0? Use this version, select Edit Boot Menu to remove XP listing. Then Add it back, accept boot files, let autocomplete, Save, Restart.

If this fails, then on BCD Backup/Repair tab, Repair Boot files.

Hello. I'm having a rather incredible problem with Windows 8 Pro. Sometimes, after booting, my notebook's keyboard doesn't work at all. Some facts about all this to inform the diagnosis:
The keyboard doesn't work in Windows; it does in the UEFI bios. (Ie I boot to windows and it doesn't work, I then reboot, test it in the bios and see that it works; I go back to windows and it still doesn't work there.)
It happens randomly: maybe once every ?5? boot ups. Definitly not always.
**I think** (but aren't sure) that it only happens when booting, not when coming back from hibernation or sleep.
Unplugging the battery or the power cord doesn't help.
I'm fairly careful about malware and I don't think it's related. I don't have any malware protection other than Windows'.
The System section of the Event Viewer only has one apparently relevant event, "The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device ROOT\WPD\0000.". Notice this is related to a Logitec input driver, and I'm having trouble with the notebook's built-in keyboard. I never plugged a Logitec keyboard (but I did use a Logitec mouse in the past).
Nevertheless I acted upon that event log. Some pages elsewhere (The driver \Driver\WUDFRd failed to load for the device... error - Windows 7 Help Forums) suggested changing the Windows Driver Foundation - User-mode Driver Framework from Manual (triggered) to automatic. It didn't help.
It has always solved itself after a random amount of time (from a few minutes to an hou... Read more

A:Windows 8: keyboard laptop randomly doesn't work after booting

Some additional info:
It was suggested somewhere else that turning off Windows 8's fast boot option would help; it didn't.
I just completed a run of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and found nothing except for 4 autohotkey .bin files that seem ok for the rest of the AVs at virustotal.
Nothing relevant seems to be logged in the System log when the keyboard comes back up.

Thanks again!

Well I only noticed this now, when I tried burning the Windows 10 ISO on a DVD. The setup doesn't work, it returns an error. I also tried using Alcohol 120% to burn the image but it also fails with an error. I had a rewritable DVD lying around so I put it on my laptop, tried erasing it but that also fails.

Basically the only thing I can do with the laptops DVD-Rom/burner is reading CDs/DVDs and nothing else. This didn't happen before? I'm really bummed, as I don't know what could be causing this issue. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi!
I'm about to prepare some OEM computers and have made a simple unattend.xml-file with help from the answering file sample from WAIK, but I can't get it to work properly.

I have copied the file to the root directory of an USB drive and it seemes like the installation program is reading the file (e.g. I don't have to specify an computer name when finalizing the installation) but it's not as automated that I would like it to be. I have to choose wich Windows version to install (basic, HP etc.), the disk partitions listed in the xml-file is not automated (I have to choose wich drive to use for installation), I need to confirm the license agreement, choose date and time options.

What can be wrong? I would like a clean, working autounattend.xml-file that automatically installs and also temporarily activates the administrator account so I can install updates, drivers and such and then seal everything up with sysprep.

Can anyone help me with this?
Here's my autounattend.xml file (I've deleted the OEM info):

Hi there
For a lot of people the ability to mount ISO's natively on a REAL (not a Virtual) Machine was a great addition to the basic functionality of Windows.

This worked really well on the preview edition of W8 (the one with the sideways fish at longon) but doesn't work properly on a few computers I've seen.

(This is also AFTER a brand new install -- so it's nothing to do with any user installed drivers / components).

It also only happens on machines that have an INTERNAL DVD drive too -- it doesn't happen on my Netbook for example which doesn't have a DVD drive - even when an external USB one is attached.

You get the message "XXXX couldn't be mounted" or "Error in mounting XXX" -- can't remember the actual error as I'm typing this on an Android smart phone -- having a delicious Breakfast in a nice old fashioned "Greasy Spoon" place --before it gets replaced by those odious trendy "Trattoria" or whatever.

The Iso does actually get mounted by windows explorer on to a "Virtual DVD device" correctly and can be "ejected" when you've finished with it but the error message that appears every time is very annoying even if it can be safely ignored.

I REALLY LIKE this feature - also great when you'v extracted say two or 3 DVD ISO's to a usb stick --then mounting the DVD ISO's and playing the movies.

Cheers
jimbo

When ever I plug my external hard drives into a USB plug, a message reads as follows: "This USB divce can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port." Now, this motherboad indicates that the USB ports are 2.0 and I have tried all USB ports and get the same error. I have had no such error on my previous computer. Any suggestions? I have also tried to instal USB 2.0 drivers, but with Microsofts Service Pack 2, it indicates that drivers for USB 2.0 do not need to be installed and it doesn't give me the option to install them anyways.

What should I do?

I'm having trouble with my Asus desktop not booting properly. I get this message:

"Reboot and Select proper boot device or Insert Boot Media in Selected Boot device and press a key"

I have tried setting the boot options variously switching between manually setting between the boot options below, #1 and #2, and setting to the Optimized Defaults setting. I'm not sure which boot option should be first or which one is working when it does work. Here's my options:

Boot option #1: SATA: ATAPI DVD A DH24ABS
Boot option #2: WDC WD20EARX-22PASB0
Boot option #3: Generic-MS/MS-Pro 1.03

Noticed that the driver for the bios is the original one (2011), and tried to update it through the option provided, but it never seems to work and just continues to 'connect to server' with no result.

Through numerous trials and errors I seem able to get the boot to work (not sure how though), and once it does Windows 7 works fine. The trouble is as soon as I try to boot again the whole process happens over.

I have a "new system image restore Asus 2012 ISO Files disk that I made when I purchased the computer, but haven't tried to use it as I'm not sure how or if it would only restore the bios settings or overwrite the whole system.

Help would be most appreciated!

A:Asus not booting properly, boot options don't work consistently

Your DVD should be the first boot option and the drive that has your C: drive should be the second boot. == It sounds like your System Image would be the thing to try. It restores your PC to the way it was the day the Image was made. Any changes you have made since then will be gone. This includes any pictures or documents you may have added since then. They will be gone also.

My laptop is being a pill.

About a week ago, I tried to disable hiberation so that it could finish a defrag session without stopping in the middle. (It's set to defrag once a week at 1 am and I don't see how it ever can if it hibernates when I close the lid.) It desperately needed some clean-up, so I spent an entire day checking for viruses, malware, defragging, running CCleaner, etc. Sped it up and fixed a whole lot but in the process, I messed up some settings, apparently. Ever since I did that maintenance, when it goes into hibernation, the keyboard and mouse will NOT wake it up. The power button wakes it, sometimes, but the power button in this computer is tiny, doesn't stick up very far and it a pain for me to press. I want the mouse/keyboard to do the job again so I can save my fingernail. (Why did HP think it needed to be soooo freakin' tiny anyway? LOL! Yet another reason my next laptop will be a Del.)

I've been all over the internet looking for answers...the official Windows help pages were somewhat helpful but I'm still missing something. Yes, in the properties, it's set to allow both the mouse and keyboard to "wake" the computer but neither will do it. The help pages say to contact the manufacturer if only the power button "wakes" up a system. Weird.

This is what I want and no necessarily in this order:

Good Morning.

First of all excuse me for my English, but I am Italian.

I am tryng to install Norton Goback Personal Edition, but I have some problems.

Untill two weeks ago I couldn't use this software because of a Linux Installation of my disk. Recently i have bought a new and larger disk that I have installed as the master one, installing the older one as slave. Then I have copied all the partition except the ext2 partition on the new disk. Now on my primary disk i have 3 primary partitions (Win 98 on fat32, Win2000 on NTFS5 and another NTFS5 partition) and an extended one which contains 4 other partitions (3 with FAT32 filesystem and one with NTFS5 filessystem).

Now let's talk with my problem: when I install Goback with the proper dual-boot installation method, Goback tells me that there are unsupported partitions on my primary disk: the installations finishes without problems, but Goback protects every partition exept the ones containing the operative systems: obviously this renders Goback totally useless for me.

I can't uderstand where is the problem: all the partitions on primary disk are FAT32 or NTFS5, which should be totally supported, but Goback doensn't agree. The disk is a Maxtor Diamond Plus 9 whith an 80 GB size. I know I could repartition and reformat the drive, but I would take a lot of time and I would prefer to avoid it, if possible.

Has anyone ever had a similar problem before? Is there any solution?

Thank you in advance and good... Read more

I just upgrade to Win 10 with a hope that is gonna be ok, but is working the same like on Win 7. The problem is that when the numlock is on the keyes that works are 1,2 and 9 and while numlock is on some of the letters from the main keyboard are working like 1 or 2. When the numlock is off, the main keyboard is working ok and the numpad is working like arrows. On linux there is no problem with the numlock, thats why I marked the problem like software. Thanks in advance if someone have solution for the problem.

Hi all, great site

So, here's the problem.
Whenever I open the "internet options" in the control panel and lets say delete cookies or files and then try to click "ok" nothing's happening. I get the clock and nothing's changing after hours . The window freezes and after a while it says "not responding".

What do I do?!
Thanks

Hello to all,
I'm going to install Win XP on my computer (I had win 7 but had some problem with installing the HP printer on it and so I decide to install XP because that printer seems to be installed properly on XP). Now When I put the XP CD on the CD driver, it says press a ker to boot from CD and I press the Enter key, (now the keyboard works) after that, within installation time when that I should press Enter to install XP, this time the keyboard doesn't work. My guess is that the ps/2 port of the case has problem (it's old and somewhat has been broad). Now what is the solution in your point of view please?

My system manufacturer is "ECS" and the system model is "945pl-A".

PS: there are two black & white screens which mobo shows: First screen shows the amount of RAM, the model of CPU the IDEs and info like these which is common for first screen. But the here when I want to enter to BIOS by pressing Del key, it seems that keyboard doesn't work so it doesn't go to bios. The second black & white screen shows fewer info and it says "Press shift-F10 to configure) and when I press these two I can to enter to an environment that seems to not be the BIOS, the keyboard here WORKS!!! It has very few options! And apparently doesn't have options of manipulating the keyboard settings.

So, I just bought a Lenovo Legion Y530, 8thgen I7 8750H, 16gb RAM with a GTX 1050Ti. Installed the drivers and it was everything fine untill I tried to play GuildWars 2, and it kept freezing after sometime. My solution was to lower the graphics quality and run the game in compatibility mode - the only thing that apparently made it run properly - when I should just be able to play it normally. My main problem though is that I work with Sketchup 2017 and Vray 3.4 and when I start to model my Sketchup would freeze and then crash after some time running. Then if I try to open Sketchup 2017 again the following message will appear:"The following errors were found when launching Sketchup:- Hardware acceleration is unsupported or has been disabled on your graphics card. Sketchup requires that you use a hardware accelerated graphics card.Unfortunately, these errors will prevent Sketchup from running. Updating your graphics card drivers might fix the problem."If I restart the Notebook it will work fine again. It seems like the driver is being disabled after the Sketchup crashes. I already Updated Windows, reinstalled the drivers trough GeForce Experience, tried to reinstall the drivers manually trough NVidia website. But nothing seems to work. I can't keep restarting multiple times during my working hours and I don't find anything else that might help me, only people saying "Go for Sketchup 2016", but with a brand new notebook this is kind of frustrating.. I bought a 500gb SSD sep... Read more

I have just bought a computer with a ASUS P5GDC-V Deluxe MOB with a P5 3.0. Hard drives are two Maxtor SATA drives configured in Intel's Matrix Raid 0+1 configuration with 1GB Ram.

I can not get the integrated soundcard on the Intel 915G chipset to read the microphone. I have to nearly swallow the microphone and yell for any flicker on the meter to register. The MOB came with the C-Media 3D sound driver and software programs.

Also, and most likely related is the fact that when I tried to install and configure a US Robotics internal FAX, Data, Voice modem that the computer would lock up.

Can you help me understand what to is going on and how to fix this problem?

A:Microphone and Modem doesn't work properly

Hi,

Two things.

First of all delete all sound card references in Device manager and reload your sound drivers. Most ASUS boards require that you load sound drivers last for best operation.

The modem Issue:

Give this a try:

To to the modem manufacturer's website and download the latest and best drivers. (forget the disk that came with the modem)

Go into Start, Control Panel, System, Harware, Device Manager and remove ALL references to a modem.

Shut down and physically remove your modem and place it in PCI #3 (third slot down from the AGP port)

Enter BIOS setup menu and make sure the PnP is set to DISABLED>

Save and Exit

Reboot and when it finds the modem force feed (Don't listen to the XP message that says the best drivers are loaded) the drivers you have downloaded.

This should get you going.

The strand thing that it's working perfectly in AIMP3 , but when I'm playing a movie in classic media player or YT video, only the center and right speakers are working . The others have this weeird , super low delayed sound , barely Noticeable .
This is my motherboard , maybe I've downloaded wrong drivers or something, but I'm pretty sure that before reinstalling my win7, I had this user friendly configuration tweak with sound options . Now it seems to be gone .

I updated Windows 7 64bit and it installed IE9 64bit. I used to be in IE8 64 or 32bit. I'm not sure.

When on IE9 I had so much problems with flash player. So I uninstalled the updates to IE9.

Now my IE8 doesn't fully work anymore. I updated Flash player, thinking that was the problem. Some thing with Internet Explorere (non-64bit)

I play a lot of those Facebook applications like farmville and cityville. I can get to the game ok, but any popup within the game to ask request, don't work anymore.

I am already using firefox for my other account, so I need IE working.

A:IE8 doesn't work properly after uninstalling updates from IE9

is there a specific error? perhaps a screenshot.

When I installed IE9 on this machine and then removed it,. the only noticeable problem I have is I get the new welcome box everytime I fire up the first session.

I have a Win7 laptop connected via a WRT54G2 wireless router to an XP SP3 desktop. Both the laptop and desktop can see shared resources and both can connected to the internet.

In the Laptop's Network and Sharing Center, however, things are not correct. The Laptop has two connections to the router, lan and wireless. The lan's connection appears OK, but I cannot generate a map. I get "Windows cannot discover any computer or device." The wireless network is public. I don't know why and I don't know how to change it. Also, when I try to create a new network connection, the laptop sees only a WRT160N router (which I don't have; perhaps I did a while ago, when the laptop ran Vista). No place to add a new one.

I have Cisco's Network Magic and it can correct see everything, including the right router.

Additionally, the Win7's connection to the XP's shared resources disappear from time to time. Now, they are not there. I literally didn't do anything. (This is my second Linksys router.)

I am not sure if anyone has experienced same thing, but it is very weird to me.

I am using a Lenovo T43 laptop, and recently my both Ctrl buttons are not working properly. When I am at the desktop interface and hit the Ctrl button, my desktop will refresh. It seems that it shut down the explorer.exe and restart it.

And if I have a file explorer window opened and hit Ctrl button, the window will be closed immediately, so I can't use ctrl+c or ctrl+v to copy and paste in the file explorer. It is really annoying.

Can anyone help me on this issue? Thanks!

I have a Samsung R580 laptop and the trackpad button doesn't work quite right. The button is a single piece button. The right clicking works just fine, but when I try to left click, it doesn't always work. I'll have to press really hard to get it to work. This has only started the last couple of weeks. I know that I probably shouldn't, but I take a thin knife and stick it in the crack surrounding the button and slide it back and forth a few times. This seems to fix the button momentarily, but only for a few seconds. After which, it goes right back to hardly working. I have no idea of what's wrong. I can use a mouse, but it's much more convienient to use the trackpad button. I can also use the trackpad it's self to tap which will do the same thing as clicking the button, but I keep clicking things I don't want to. Any ideas ? I don't know that the keyboard being dirty is causing it, as every other button works perfectly.

It sounds like you might actually need a trackpad repair or replacement. Are you still under warranty?

Hi all, Currently i am using laptop HP Probook 450 G3-X4K55PA, i need to use Ubuntu for my work, so i installed Ubuntu 16.04. My laptop doesn't work well with this OS, when i plug a monitor via HDMI port, my laptop hangs, it can't work anymore, so i must turn off the power. When i put my laptop in sleep mode, it can't come back, it is hanged, i must turn off power to take it back. I tried to install different Ubuntu version many times, but it still has the issues. I install WIndows on my laptop, it works well. Please help to solve the issues with Ubuntu. Regards,Han.

A:My laptop doesn't work properly with Ubuntu

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for your post. I am afraid this PC officially supports Windows OS only and Linux-based like Ubuntu are not officially supported. Therefore, you may experience certain issues while with Ubuntu due to the lack of proper drivers loaded there (in the Kernel). Ubuntu 16.04 uses Kernel 4. You may try older Ubuntu versions such as with kernel 3.13/3.16/3.19 - Ubuntu 14 LTSYou can also try to post at the Ubuntu forums where Linux/Ubuntu gurus may be able to provide you with specific advice about the problem >> https://askubuntu.com/>> https://ubuntuforums.org/  An alternative option would be to install Windows as a main (host) operating system but run Linux Ubuntu as a virtual one from inside Windows using free software like Oracle VirtualBox >> https://www.virtualbox.org/>> https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Screenshots
