Advert audio playing whilst online

Q: Advert audio playing whilst online

Hi, I have the audio from adverts playing in the background when I'm online. I have AVG 2012 , Malware-bytes and also ad-aware installed and none of them are coming up with anything on my laptop. Just wondering if theres anything else I can try to get rid of this annoying audio?!?!

Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I try and save a Hijackthis log it comes up saying

"Cannot find the C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Hijackthis.log file.

Do you want to create a new file?"

Whether I press Yes No or Cancel it still comes up with a blank .txt file!

To whom this may concern,

I am aware that there is a similar posting to this on this site, but even after following all the instructions given by CatByte on 23rd July 2010 I find that i am still getting the audio from adverts despite no programmes actually running. This problem is quite recent and i find that along with the audio from ads, i occasionally get pop ups which i believe are from Internet Explorer.

I am currently running Nod32 anti-virus with ZoneAlarm Pro. My primary internet browser is Firefox but on occasion i do use Internet Explorer. I would be extremely grateful for any assistance you can provide. Please see below for a copy of my Hijackthis log. Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Recently when online I have experienced audio adverts playing in the background. There do not appear to be any open windows or extra/unusual processes. I use Avast Antivirus but using this within windows and as a boot-time scan has not solved the problem. I have also tried Spybot S&G, Super Antispyware, and Malbyte's Anti-Malware to no avail. I'm running Windows Vista and generally use Firefox to browse.

HJT log to follow.

Many thanks in advance.

Recently the audio for adverts has been playing in the background even when nothing is running. When the audio is playing there are no unusual or extra processes running, like other people have been experiencing. I've tried running avg and malwarebytes anti malware in and out of safe mode. in safe mode avg did find something a trojan called loader.exe and smss.exe (see attached file for more information) but even when they were deleted it didn't solve the problem. I've also tried cleaning out all temporary files but still no luck. I'm running windows 7 and mainly use google chrome as my default internet browser. I have also attached my HJT log.

Hi guys. I know that most places say that to improve performance turn off antivirus software whilst playing games online. However, does this introduce a security risk?

Does having antivirus software off whilst playing an online game mean that you MAY get a virus whilst playing one of these games? I would like the performance increase, but I wouldn't want to open my PC up to viruses either (I mean games that you buy, like Half-Life, and Soldier of Fortune and those types of shoot their heads off type games, not web games like Breakout or Parking Perfection , anyway!).

Also, is it the actual real-time scanning for viruses that slows down the game, or is it the actual program running in the background. The reason I ask is because I have Zonealarm with Antivirus, this means that my firewall and antivirus software are all just 1 program, so I can disable the antivirus part, of course, but the program will still be running, but just not scanning for viruses in realtime.

What do you lot think? You're the experts.

Many thanks for your replies in advance.

'kay...first of all, this is my first post so sorry in advance for lack of info and stuff, not very tech-smart at all..anyway.
Well, a close friend of mine just changed ISPs and got a router, like in my title name, the model is a F5D5231-4 Belkin Wired Router.

And since then, disconnections from the game, annoying ones, looking at online times of 5-10 minutes before disconnections. However..that's only when there is heavy activity(if anyone here knows/plays PSU, in essence, we can talk for hours, idle for hours etc, but in a mission when there are monsters, and the fighting begins, the DCs happen).

Forwarded Ports, enabled UPnP(well switched it from the default settings, which should be it), enabled DMZ for a bit, nothing, and stumped, advice please? XD

Today I started getting Audio adverts for Harpic and Gaviscon randomly play on my computer even when the browser is closed. Something must have made its way onto my PC but I have no idea where to look. This is driving me nuts as nothing seems to detect it and nothing I have tried seems to stop it. My PC has XP Professional SP3. I have tried full system scans with Avast 5, Spybot S&D, CCleaner, Malwarebytes.
Other than the random audio adverts there is no other unusual behaviour. This is really weird and I've never come accross anything like it before.
I found another post which appears to describe the same problem. Any help would be highly appreciated!

Ive downloaded and used lots of free cleaners in and out of safe mode. Apparently my pc is clean. Ive know idea where this came from, ive not downloaded anything dodgy I can recall. Must have picked it up whilst surfing. Pornsites have been surfed and I downloaded some mods for a game i play, thats about it. Ive used, spybot, avg, malwarebytes, ad-adware etc. nothing worked. Hi ramsdenjamie85.

Can you uninstall Trusteer Rapport, at least as a test? I know that the program is important, but this test is important, too.

Let us know how the computer is running without Rapport. We have to decide about our next course of actions after seeing the results.

Hi Everyone,This is the first time I am posting in this forum. I think I am infected with something. I don't know how I got it and I don't know how to remove it. It keeps playing random clicks, the same ones that play when a link is clicked in a browser. In addition, advert audio plays in the background especially the ones that sell cleaning supplies like finish and lysol. The laptop is running really slow as well especially while browsing the web. I ran DDS.scr and got the two text files. I tried running gmer.exe as instructed in the steps but after it would finish scanning and I would try to save the report the computer would hang and I would have to manually restart, so I don't have that report. Here are the rest of the reports, thank you to anyone who can help me. Hello
I have a large amount of files to back up to on-line storage. I want to do it during my service providers off peak period between 2 am and 8 am. If my computer is in sleep mode will it do the backup or do I need to change the power settings.
Thanks for any help

A:? back up to online storage whilst in sleep mode

Sleep Mode turns everything off but the memory, so it can't work. It's like Hibernation, but instead of saving your session to the Hibernation file, it saves it to memory and then your computer is completely turned off (except for the memory).

Hi there,
I'm having problems with adverts that start running randomly in the background for about 20-30 seconds

The other day the router suddenly went off for everyone in our house and when the connection re-established I got a virus through on my laptop (Windows 7). The only things being used at the time were Firefox and Spotify. The virus was one of the ones that claims there is some problem with the hard disk and starts 'scanning' it. It then removed all the items from my start menu and hid stuff away. (all the stuff was still physically there - you could find it using windows explorer - but all the links had disappeared. I found an .exe virus in C drive and deleted it

I then restored my computer using a restore point from a few days before. I downloaded super antispyware, malwarebytes and cc cleaner and ran them all along with Sophos. Only super antispyware picked anything up and they were deleted. I thought that had got rid of everything, but then then these adverts in the background start playing randomly. My internet has also become very slow, again at random times. I have also had the odd popup through which never happened before and I have adblocker installed on firefox (I don't use internet explorer)

I'd be very grateful for any advice on what to do.

Thanks,

Danny

Hello there,
Firstly thank you for even clicking and secondly, my problem is as follows:

A few weeks ago I completely rebuilt my custom made rig. I used a legit copy of Windows 7 and everything was working fine.
I was then prompted to update windows 7 with about 80 different updates through Windows Update.
I installed these all including SP1 and that's when the problems started.

My computer restarted randomly whilst I was doing a lot of different tasks. I immediately went into safe mode and restored back to the point before any of the updates had been done.
This happened on my last config of my PC and I didn't not want to end up down this road again.

A week or so later and my friend tells me to watch this link as I am a "Dexter" fan and all that; Early_Cuts_Chapter01_Alex_Timmons_WEBRip.mp4 | PutLocker
When it has almost loaded my PC restarts randomly.

Now I followed the thread before making this thread, about how I should DL SF_Diagnostics_Tool, I clicked grab all "after right clicking run as admin" and it said there was no dump to find, and then an error was displayed about the Event Log.

I have got my BSOD to set up a Small Memory Dump (128KB) should I change this?

All the drivers are up to date as well, I am just not sure why it is doing this and why Windows used to crash after doing updates...

Thanks for your help,

Rhys

Hi,

This is my first post here and after looking around for a while I'm still having problems.

I have read the Posting Instructions and used the SF Diagnostic Tool, results included.
I'm not sure if that includes all my system information, but if anything is missing I'll post as soon as I can.

To clarify further the BSOD has happened on a variety of games, sometimes it can happen with in 5mins of loading one other times I am good for a couple of hours or I can play till I've quit the game with no crashing.

I have done scans with MSE, Spybot and Malware Bytes with no issues found.
From looking at other threads, one recommended using a driver scanner to check for updates (SlimDrives), again no updates found.

That's all I can think of for now, also to be honest I am a bit reluctant in having to do a full re-install and would very much like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks in advance,
Mick

Hi all,

Playing Dishonoured has been causing my comp to BSOD every 40 mins or so. Temps seem fine but I thought it could be a PSU problem (it's the no-name one that came with the case).

It BSOD this morning whilst Dishonoured was running but minimised, which is weird because the GPU wasn't working hard and CPU was at about 47%.

So anyway, I was hoping that some altruistic soul could check my crashdumps and make sure it's not a driver issue, before I shell out for a new PSU

Thanks!

First off it doesn't only crash when playing games, just almost all of the time.
I cannot remember when this first started but i assume it was around the time of windows 10, my PSU became very hot which i noticed upon crashes, so i used an external fan to keep it cool, which it did a very good job of. however, today it has been crashing constantly when playing games, sometimes after 1m or 1h, the PSU is very cool however my CPU fan becomes very hot so i can only assume it is the CPU that is messing up (the CPU fan is still running so that is not broken). i get no blue screen or error message it just shuts down, sometimes automatically restarting but other times pending on me turning it back on.
I have tried reinstalling windows, looked online for hours with no luck. i saw something about updating BIOS but that is beyond me and sounds dangerous from all the warnings i see online. on one error i got a watchdog code which i looked up to find multiple causes, one involving a faulty CPU, i am reluctant to replace it if it is not necessary but am desperate for any help, on the crash event viewer it just says that windows shut down unexpectedly, no error codes or solutions, thanks for any help

Hey,

First, it is very hard to give advise when we don't know what system you have.
Please give the make and model, service tag if available, or if custom please list all the exact parts (eg don't list 500w psu, list the full model Corsair CX500W CMPSU-500CX)
Alternatively you can run the TSG utility and copy and paste the info back here.

Next you need to check your temps, both at idle and under load.
Ideally at idle in the BIOS and under load using monitoring software (lots available but the more accurate will be one provided by the motherboard manufacturer if available).
Report all the temps back here (CPU, Motherboard, GPU)

Hey guys. So for the past few months whenever i play any games i eventually get BSOD.. sometimes 5 minutes in.. sometimes an hour in. I've downloaded blue screen viewer and got a couple of screenshots of a couple of different bsod's.. these 2 seem to be the only ones that come up. I tried running a ram tester and that came back with no errors.. Just wondering if anyone can decipher this for me.
Furthermore.. i don't know if this is related or not but if i leave my computer on for say a day or so, everything starts to lag.. videos start to stutter and there is just lag in general in everything i do.. once i restart it all comes good... for a while but then starts up again. I tried disabling every non essential startup program but it still does it.
Thanks guys!
Also.. i am trying to add the dump files but can't figure out how to gain permission to do so...

If you are using a program like Ccleaner please stop using it while troubleshooting.
This because programs like Ccleaner remove dump files that are needed to troubleshoot.
Or configure Ccleaner to not remove dump files:

We'll have to wait for another BSOD to occur, if another BSOD occurs just follow the posting instructions again and upload a new zip.

Hey there,

This is my first post here.

Basically, in the last week (Thursday 16th and last night) I've had two blue screens. The first thing I should say is that both of these occurred whilst I was playing the new PC release of Grand Theft Auto. In both cases I received the same message: "driver irql_less_or_not_equal", which I'm assuming has something to do with an out of date driver somewhere?

That's about all I can say about the blue screen messages themselves as I had no time to take down any of the information and because I've never experienced these issues on any machine. I do however have the dump files which I will upload.

When the second blue screen occurred last night I was concerned that it may have something to do with my new RAM, which I installed last Thursday. I've since realised however that the first of these incidents took place shortly after midnight on Thursday, and the RAM was installed in the evening later that day.

Out of interest, I'm using Windows Home Premium 64bit.

There is no other obvious symptoms of a problem with the PC, but I'm keen to find out the issue.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello, TuffGnarl and welcome to the Forums. I will try to help you with this. Please fill out the BSOD Posting InstructionsBlue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions. I would also appreciate if you add your PSU to your System Specs.

You had 2 dump files, both listing the same thing.

That is the Intel Raid Driver. It was listed on both dumps. This is your current driver,

Make sure all of your graphics drivers are up to date. It may be that this game works the system too hard. Try monitoring your system temperatures a while and see if we can at least rule that out.

Hello everyone,

My laptop seems to have started switching itself off at random times when I am playing games, specifically STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl, World in Conflict, The Sims 2, and probably others as well. I assume it is something to do with the graphics card or memory.

I was able to stop World in Conflict switching off by lowering the game detail settings, but the problem remains for STALKER, even if I switch the graphics to the lowest settings. This problem didn't occur a few months ago when I last installed it, and my computer is more than capable of running these games.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to solve this problem, or at least what type of problem it is? Can I change my video/memory settings to compensate? I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU processor, 4 GB of RAM, and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570.

I posted this question in the 'Games' section earlier, but I'm not sure it actually counts as a 'Game' problem.

Thanks alot for your help,
JollySam

The lag occurs every 40-60 seconds, the audio will continue uninterrupted where as the video will become extremely choppy for 5-10 seconds and then it will return to it's normal state, now this doesn't just apply to flash apps, this also happens when I play Trackmania Nations or any other game.

On another note, my laptop gets extremely hot, I've been using HWmonitor to check the temperatures and my CPU has hit a max of 96 celcius. Currently I'm running Google chrome with 1 tab open and I have Windows Live Messenger running too and both cores of the CPU are reading at 70 celcius. I've read up about this and once it reaches a certain temperature the CPU throttles it's self to prevent further damage, although I'm thankful this happens, it renders my laptop practically unusable.

Has anyone else experienced any of this before and is there anything I can do about it?

Thanks in advance!

I recently took my PC apart and cleaned it out of dust (it gets very dusty in my room and a 2400RPM intake fan doesn't help). It worked fine at first, then yesterday I found that my PC crashes when a 3D game is running.

It first happened on Multi Theft Auto San Andreas when I was going to test out a new server. I was playing for a matter of a minute before my pair of screens went blank and the familiar repetitive sound when a PC crashes started blaring at me. I restarted my PC using the reset button, as keys were unresponsive.

It booted up without any problems and it loaded up Opera fine. I can use it extensively for hours running normal things such as internet browsers and windowed programs, but as soon as anything 3D is loaded my PC crashes.

Another instance was when I was taking off in FSX, my PC crashed with the same symptoms as the MTA incident.

Its been happening on all of my games that are full 3D, TES:V Skyrim, GTA IV, GTA VC, GTA SA, MTA SA, TF2 and FSX.

Anyone know whats up?

I'm gonna run a system restore and see if it works. I've also got a spare EN7300GE lying around so I can substitute my 285 for that to check if its the graphics card.

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600 3.4GHz
RAM: ASint 8GB PC3-10070 1333MHz
HDD: 2TB WD Caviar Green
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium x64
GPU: ASUS ENGTX 285 1GB
Motherboard: Foxconn H61MXV
PSU: Alpine 600W (Just a cheap one until I can get one of higher quality)

HI
first open up your case and make sure that all connections are seated properly
Take out your Graphics Card and reseat it and connect power to it

Also the power supply you are using is a very poor quality
we recommend XFX, seasonic, and corsair 80+ power supplies
atleast 650W

Hello all,

This is my first post on these very helpful forums. I hope someone will be able to assist me.

I have a HP ProBook running Windows 7. Ever since I got the laptop, I often get BSODs while attempting to run games (Total War series, The Force Unleashed, just to name a couple). This does not occur with all games, nor does it occur with any other type of software (granted, I mainly use my Windows installation for gaming and other simple tasks such as word processing).

I'm uploading the DM Log Collector output .zip file.

Any help would be greately appreciated.

EDIT: I added the output from BlueScreenView, that blames 'atikmdag.sys' for the crash. Just in case this info can be of any help to you.

EDIT: Here is my system info:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz
MOTHERBOARD: Hewlett-Packard 1948
BIOS: Default System BIOS
TOTAL MEMORY: 8,00 GB
HDD: TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100
SOUND CARD: (1) IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (2) Intel(R) Display Audio
GRAPHICS CARD: (1) AMD Radeon HD 8750M (2) Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1

Hey guys,
OK, basically i'm having GSODs (grey striped screen of death) whenever I try to play Borderlands or BFBC2..its always about 3-5mins into the game and ALWAYS happens. The odd thing is that I was playing L4D2 for months with not a sniff of a BSOD until now.
I've gone through test after test after test and made little progress into finding out whats wrong + i've replaced the PSU, HDD & RAM in the hope that these might be causing the issues without getting into big ??s for a new GPU, CPU or MB.
The system is circa Oct 09...so components are still fairly new.

I'm not familiar with the more intrinsic areas of the PC like the Bios settings as i've never had a reason to be familiar with them so i've left my voltage settings on auto as I wouldn't have a clue as to what voltages I need to set everything to.
I've attached an analysis file in the hope that someone much cleverer than me can tell me what's wrong.

Thanks guys!

Hello Guys,

I have been having a problem with my #teamred PC since I built it 2 years ago but it's reached the point where it's getting me down now.
My system is:

Desktop PC
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit sp1 (original os) OEM (I think) - recent clean install by me (again)

*2 years old*
Motherboard Asus Crosshair V Formula Z

CPU AMD FX 9370 black edition @ 4.4GHz (not overclocked)

Corsair RM Series RM 1000 '80+ Gold' 1000W Power Supply

*1 year old*
TeamGroup Vulcan RED 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit

I have done a full memtest86 (with both sticks in). It took 18 hours and showed no errors.

I play a lot of hours gaming. I used to play Evolve but got banned for 'product tampering' I didn't tamper with my game. I thought it was the games problem, keep crashing but now I play Titanfall 2 and still crash, I think that it may be my PC?

I Found that my Antec K?HLER H2O 1250 was failing to turn one of the fans so I have replaced that with a Corsair H105 water cooler.

Any help or advice would be most welcome...

log attached

Regards... Pete

Hi all,

I've recently switched over from my old HDD to a shiny new SSD. It was a fresh windows install and I've installed all drivers for my gpu, mobo etc. fresh onto this. It seems now though that whenever I play a game I get a BSOD. I've had this happen so far whilst playing Skyrim, EVE online and Company of Heroes, and I haven't really loaded up any other games because there's not much fun if they're going to crash 10 mins in! The crashes occur anywhere between after 10 mins of play and after 1hr. I thought it was a temperature issue as Skyrim used to crash before I got the SSD, but seemed to work fine if I put my fan speeds up to ~90% in MSI Afterburner. After 10 mins of EVE online with the fan speeds set to 90% I got a crash the other day though. I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing my graphics drivers and still got a crash :/ I've also updated my BIOS and that hasn't fixed the problem, so I thought I'd post here and see if someone else can help me get to the bottom of this!

System specs are:
Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3-B3 Mobo
Intel i5 2500K - Not overclocked
Nvidia GTX480 - Also not overclocked
12GB RAM
OCZ Agility 3 64GB SSD
780W PSU

Hello James.

Scan the system for possible virus infection.

Code:

Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
Roll back to an earlier stable version of the display driver.
Download and install Driver Fusion.
Reboot the computer in Advanced Boot Options, safe mode. Search Driver Fusion in your start menu, and remove all components of your nVidia display driver.
Boot normally now. Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, Drivers > Beta and Legacy; search there with your cards particulars for GeForce 306.23 Driver, dated 13.9.2012 and install it.

This has just started happening recently. I'm not sure what is causing this, so I thought I'd ask here. I've attached what you have asked for.

Since I cannot upload the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2.zip file to your server because of a size issue, I have uploaded it to mine: http://domenicfiore.com/Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2.zip

Thanks in advance for your help!

EDIT: I'd also like to point out that even when it does not BSOD, after some time (ranges from 1 minute to 1 hour), the game crashes. This is all new, never did this before the latest patch or I have no idea what.
