Ideapad 310 - Install SSD

Q: Ideapad 310 - Install SSD

I have an Ideapad 310 recently purchased.

I want to install an SSD for booting windows and then use a caddy with my old hdd for data storage

Is there an easy way to migrate windows to the SSD using recovery made with Onekey or will I have to clone the HDD?

I'm looking at hopefully transferring the recovery partition to the new HDD too in case I need to reset in the future.

The SSD is smaller in size than the original 1TB HDD

Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You'll need to clone the HDD, since OneKey is on the old hard drive.

Hello, today I purchased Lenovo IdeaPad 110 for my friend and I am supposed to put win 7 64 bit on it. I have used .iso image to create botable image using Rufus. I know that -iso image is good because I deployed in on over 30+ different brand laptops. I turn on the ideapad and set boot priority to usb first. Windows loads installer and I select the language, after that I proceed to install but it pops out a window asking me for drivers. I tried to clear and partition SSD using diskpart but without any luck, I tried to switch betwwen usb 2.0 and 3.0 ports, different usb sticks but with no luck it is always asking me for drivers (I suppose for the SSD). I can see the SSD in BIOS and in diskpart.  What to do ?  Thanks!

Im Thinking about buying an Lenovo ideapad 520, I've done my research and this looks promising. The only downside being it lacks SSD drive. I'm wondering if its possible to install an SSD drive? or even replace the DVD-Writer with an SSD drive maybe? And would this effect the overall configuration? or cause any conflicts with other hardware?Has anyone done this before? or any recommendations on what SSD should I get if this is possible?

Hello all, I was wondering if you can help me. I have an IdeaPad S206 and I have physically installed a brand new 256 GB SSD. However, I cannot install any version of Windows on it because the disk doesn't appear in the partitions section  of the Windows installation.  I've had this before with laptops and older versions of Windows that don't recognise the SSD, and all I had to do in the past was to download the MB/chipset drivers from the manufacturer website and load them from a USB stick during the Windows installation, this usually allows me to install Windows on the SSD. With this IdeaPad S206 I cannot find any drivers on the website that will allow me to do this. All I can see are exe files, and what I need are the specific driver files. I've also tried a copy of Windows 10 Pro and that installation doesn't recognise the SSD which is surprising. Before anyone asks, yes the SSD is working perfectly, to test it out I installed it on a Samsung and Toshiba laptop with Windows 10 and everything was fine. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello dear Lenovo fans!I have an old netwbook Lenovo Ideapad S205. I want to put inside a new SSD as a system drive and use the existing hard drive only for storage. I saw on the mainboard that below the wifi module installed in a mini pci-e port there is placed an extra spot for soldering of an additional msata or mini pci-e slot. The bigest questin is - If I solder an msata port there and install an msata SSD - Is it going to work? Does anybody have tried this at all?I called in Lenovo Bulagra and they didn't give me a concrete answer ?!?!Please comment this issue!

I got the Ideapad 100s last year. Works great, but a Windows update screwed it up, and I can't install ANY OS anymore. When I boot 10 from my USB, it freezes on the first setup screen. Even DEBIAN! It freezes on the language setup. It started doing this sort of recently. When it freezes, the power light goes out and the caps lock light doesnt turn on, so I have to force turn it off. The UEFI doesn't give me many options to change, besides secure boot, which I've tried both on and off. I've been trying different USB's, seeing if it was the stick issues, but so far, the boot menu doesn't detect them, except one of them. I want to be able to use this again, but at the moment, I can't. Help?

I just bough new 110 ideapad, unfortunately, it does not have any Windows Installed, only DOS I have tried to install windows from CDROM, but it is not an option. I have changed Boot Mode on BIOS to UEFI / Legacy Support, none seem to be working. I have applied all the fixes I have read on this community, but none seem to be working. The system has USB Boot Enable/Disable Option, PXE Boot to LAN (which I guess I shouldn't be using), and IPV4 PXE First Enable / Disable Option. I have encountered all manners of error messages and I am pissed right now. I just need who will tell me what to do, or perhaps, I should return the system.

Hello. For a long while, I've been thinking about buying a new improved laptop over my old one and had my eye onSamsung's SSD's, particularly a 2TB 850 PRO which is a SATA3 and is 2.5 inches. Looking through the tech specs of the ideapad Y910 and seeing its HDD is SATA3 and 2.5", it looks like the two will bea match made in heaven but since I never dealt with installing new PC components before, I want to check with the forums to know for sure if I can, indeed, install THAT very model (Samsug 850 PRO) into an ideapad Y910. Thank you.

It seems, that some sort of security is enabled in BIOS (Secure Boot?). Please referer to User Manual, page 7. Turn off your laptop and press Novo Button. Your laptop will turn on and Novo Menu will be displayed. Please go to Bios Setup and look for security settings. BTW. You can create an installation media using Windows Media Creation Tool.

I got a new Ideapad Y700 and i wanted to cleanly install a win10 pro edition.Problem is i see a lot of partitions in disk managment and while i am experienced in formatting and reinstalling windows i wanted to ask for some clarifications. So as you can see in the pic above there are 6 partitions total. My guesses are:1) Partition 6 (~20gb) is the OneKey recovery hidden recovery partition, with the factory shipped image (win 8.1).2) Partition 1 and 5 are win 10 install partitions and will be created automatically in the new install i make3) Partition 7 idk what it is, prolly some win 10 stuff also but idk4) D: partition is a lenovo partitions with drivers5) C: normal OS partition Are my guesses right? If i install new windows (delete all partitions and install there the new OS) will there be a problem? Also, idk a lot about UEFI in win 10 as my old laptop was working with the old system and bios. I guess everything will be sorted out automatically when i fresh install windows? Is there any reason to create an exact image of this system b4 formating? (warranty issues maybe, i dont have files i m afraid of losing)

Hi, I have been trying to install a fresh version of windows 7 64 bit on my laptop, but really getting nowhere.

I copied the ISO on a USB flash drive using rufus: NTFS file system.

My Setup configuration:
USB Legacy - Enabled

Boot Mode - Legacy Support
Boot Priority - Legacy First
USB Boot - Enabled

On the Legacy options slightly lower down I see two option, SATA HDD and SATA ODD. I see nowhere to select USB drive as the boot option.

When I enter boot menu my options are as follows: SATA HDD, SATA ODD, Windows boot manager with my SATA HDD name. I dont see a USB option to boot from?

"Secure Boot" is an option mentioned in some forum posts, but I cannot find this option in my setup.

Another thing I read was disabling USB from the boot exclusion list. This is another option I cannot find at all.

The guide from lenovo site here https://support.lenovo.com/za/en/solutions/ht500207 shows a different BIOS menu that I see on my laptop.

I just need a simple fix, why is this so complicated

Hello, firstly I want to thank you for reading my post and apologize for the poor formating.  Secondly, I would like to share my issue with my lenovo laptop (bought late 2016): I think someone might have sent me a virus through a game. What makes me think that? After someone messaged me in-game telling me they were making me disconnect from the game, which was ineed happening for a few days. So I used the novo button to get back to reinstall the system? from the recovery partition but I am still worried that someone could be spying on me. Then I tried to install windows 7 professional 64bit (the laptop was provided with windows 10) from an official DVD I bought a few years ago but it did not work, I changed some settings in the BIOS about UEFI, legacy, I read that on this forum in other posts. I tried to boot from the DVD, and eventually it gives a blue screen telling me that my BIOS is not ACPI compliant.  I updated the BIOS but it didn't solve the issue.   Finally i would like to ask a few questions: 1) Could my recovery partition be infected?2) Is there any way to download and install a fresh version of windows 10, I tried from the microsoft website but apparently my windows doesn't work.  Thank you for reading and have a nice day.

When I log in to the Lenovo support site, there are 27 drivers listed for my ideapad 500S-14ISK laptop. I'd like to know...Should I install some/all of these?Should these be installed automatically in system updates? How do I know which of these are already installed? I am particularly interested in the Graphics drivers as this is a replacement machine as I had problems with the previous one's graphics card/driver. There are two listed under "Display and Video graphics": 10.18.13.5474 released on 23/5/16, and "Graphics 20.19.15.4364a;Audio 8.20.0.745" released on 12/5/16. Should I install either or both of these? ThanksAdrian

I have an Ideapad N581 that I am having issues with when booting. I have installed a Kingston 120gig SATA drive and once the POST times out the computer boots from. The issue I believe is the BIOS is not recgognizing the drive right away. The computer stays in POST for about 5 minutes and then eventually finds the SSD and Boots to windows 10. I have seen posts that other users with this laptop have been successful in installing an SSD. What am I missing? I have looked for a BIOS update and have not been able to find one that is newer than my 2013 update. Please help...

I am seriously considering buying the Ideapad 700-15ISK laptop, specifically one that comes without Windows pre-installed (with FreeDOS) and also without SSD pre-installed (just a 1TB HDD). After buying the laptop, I then plan to add a M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD (most likely a Samsung 960 Evo 250GB). What would I need to do to successfully install Windows 10 (clean) to that new SSD and then format the HDD (remove FreeDOS) for use as a data storage drive? What do I need to pay attention to or make sure in the process? Thank you in advance for assistance.

Hi folks. My friend gave me his ideapad 100 which has Linux Ubunut OS on it and he asked me to install Win 7. I have tried to install the OS, but after booting and loading system data, Windows's Blue Screen of Death appears with a message "The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant.". So, after 4 hours of trying what i have found on internet, nothing's been successfull. I have tried to update BIOS, and I found the last BIOS for ideapad 100 (http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/100-SERIES/100-15IBY/downloads/DS102...), but it comes in .exe file which I cant run in Linux.I tried to run it even with Wine but it was unsuccessful. Then, I tried to search for BIOS update in .iso file to make it bootable with usb, but I didn't find it. Please, help me with this, I dont know what to do anymore.
