I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I exported my address book from Outook 2003 into the Windows (XP) Address Book. This is great because then I don't have to have Outlook open to view my address book.

However, it isn't linked to my Outlook address book so that whenever I made a change to my addresses in Outlook, it'll reflect in the Windows address book.

I had that set up perfectly in my old computer (Windows 98SE) but can't get it to work in XP.

Any tips or ideas?

I have been unable to insert an address from my Yahoo email address book for some time now and I have decided to ask for help.

All I am doing is opening Yahoo mail and trying to compose a new email to send to someone who is already in my contacts. When I click "to:" or "insert address" my address book shows up. But when I place a check mark and try to "insert checked contacts" I go to this address on a blank page: http://us.mc1612.mail.yahoo.com/mc/kioskHandler

I see that this has been asked before but no one had replied and I can't find the answer doing a search.

Can anyone help?

I have Vista Home Premium 32 using Firefox. The version is the latest version of Firefox but this has happened in many previous versions of Firefox. (I was lazy [or in a hurry] and just typed in the address of the entity to which I was communicating as a work around.)

Thanks

A:Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

Concerning my post above: I turned on my older XP computer and I had no problem with inserting an address from the Yahoo! address book.

I compared all my settings in both computers and noticed that I had different settings relating to how pop-ups are handled. XP reminded me that the address book takes the form of a pop-up. On my Vista I had pop-ups opening up (?) in a webpage. That is the page which came up blank. After I have corrected the settings, I no longer have a problem.

I am using Outlook 2003 and run Windows XP.

When I create a new message I begin typing the name of the recipient and I would like it to match up with an address I have in my Outlook contact list. However, it does not read from there. It only seems to look at addresses that I have already sent to in the past. How can I get it to read from the address book? If I click on "TO" or "CC" it brings up another window with a list of addresses from my contact list. From there I can have it pull from the list. I would like to be able to do it withot the extra step.

Thanks!

In the past I've maintained my address book using the built-in Address Book utility that came with Windows. Once each year, I would import my Address Book (.WAB) file into Outlook 2003/XP. (I don't use Outlook for email.) Then I would use the Mail Merge feature in Word 2003/XP to make and print address labels on standard Avery label sheets to simplify address of my Christmas cards.

Since I'm now using Windows 7, and the familiar Address Book utility is no longer available, how can I print my address labels? I have both Windows Address Book (.WAB) and Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) files that contain my address book data. So, I guess I need to know two things:
Which program or utility (preferably free) can I use to print my address labels.
How do I import my address data into that program?

If it helps, I am already a user of Gmail and Google Drive. Thanks.

A:Solved: Address Label Printing without Windows Address Book

Hi Jim,
Assuming you still have Microsoft Office (any version) you can use the Word mail merge feature and use your .csv file as your data source - no other programs necessary. What version of Office are you using?

I am using winpro2000 and office2000. No network and AOL is my internet provider.

I use to be able to go into word and print an envelope and the address would stay in the drop down. I think one of my kids fooled around with Outlook and now I have to enter addresses in the "new contact" area fields in order to get them to stay. Even then, only the name apprears not the whole address when I select an address from the drop down. I had to import the PAB into outlook to be able to use the previous addresses that use to automatically.

All I want to do is to EASILY print an address on an enveolpe and have it save to the drop down again.

Thanks a bunch,

I see you are keeping details a secret, such as what programs are involved.

If by chance it is Outlook Express, you can try this...
OE->Tools->Options->Send Tab.
Be sure this is unchecked Automatically put people I reply to in my Address Book

But they don't normally appear there if you are not opening the emails and clicking reply. So I am unclear how yours are showing up in an address book?

Moved over the ssd and hdd's to new build. all seemed well and good, as I install all drivers from gigabyte disk. pc seem to run fine until I play an online game I like, battlefield bad company 2 ( played it a TON on old rig and never ever had a BSOD) . no after about 5 to 15 minutes of play its happened every single time I try to play.

not sure what all more info you need , but I will provide any info I can. just ask

I run win7 ultimate and ubuntu (WUBI install). I made a backup with acronis true image 2013 w/ plus pack, via a boot cd with plus pack. placed that backup onto a brand new ssd (I bought a second ocz vertex 3 thinking of doing a raid 0 setup but decide against it do to loss of TRIM) and it was odd as one os either ubuntu or win7 would boot and work with networking but not both. the two ssd's are the same so i simply unplug the new one and plugged in the old one into the new build. and every thing (both os with networking) work fine. UNTILL I try to play bc2.

I have added a second gtx680 in SLI , using the 3 way SLI connnector as the spacing of the x16 slots on the mobo.

I greatly appreciate your help with this issue, not sure if I can replace the ntoskrnl.exe or whatever else it may be.

I have read the guide to posting here and believe I have followed it. if I did something wrong , please bear with me and I will do it properly .

again, I greatly appreciate your helping me correct my issues.

Anyway, your dumps point toward defective/corrupted memory.

No need to test with memtest86+ right away, I would suggest you to manually
test each stick on different slots of your computer to identify the bad one.

While looking at the results of a short scan I saw some unsettling IP Addresses that were appearing on my network. I do a lot of schoolwork online and I need to setup Windows 10 Professional's Firewall to block this IP Address or possibly even a range of

Problem is: When I do searches with keywords such as "Blocking an IP Address with Windows 10 firewall" I end up receiving results that are intended for businesses or results that are meant for a Windows Server.
I need an understandable solution to this potential security problem. One that I can use Microsoft tools to fix and not some 3rd party app if possible.

Ok, my mom just started her own business and on her Address Book she has over 3,000 contacts. How can she load her Address Book on to another computer? How can she save the Address to CD's?
Thanks!

A:Address Book

Since you didn't say what email software she uses, the general answer is: She needs to export the address book from within whatever email program she's using to a file in a format the new computer's email program can import from. Then burn that file to CD and when importing, point it at that file on the CD as the file to import from.

For example, if she's going to export it from and then import it back into either Outlook or Outlook Express, comma separated values (csv) format is probably the best choice. If she's using some other email program, maybe its help files will offer some clues.

I don't know about the import export being backed up but wanted to ask you if you knew you could back up all of files onoutlook on a regular basis? That way your calendar, etc. are all backed up in addition to your address book. Some of the earlier versions of Outlook did not come with the back up feature, but you can download software from Microsoft. My outlook prompts me once a week to back up. I save it on one of my networked computers. When I had a computer that crashed once, I was really glad I had it saved!!

I have an address list in .wdb format that I'd like to use in MS Word's mail merge function. Can I convert it to a format that MS Word will recognise?

I don't have MS Access on this PC.

Thanks

A:.wdb Address Book

You didn't say what version of Word but there are a couple of possibilities.

If the .wdb option doesn't show during the merge
File converters for Works aren't installed by default so you might need to install them. Just start up the Word (or Office) install program and choose Add or Remove Features. In Office 2002 (XP), you then need to look in Office Shared Features -> Converters and Filters -> Text Converters. There are a couple of converters for Works. Just choose Run from my computer for both of them.
If the .wdb option shows during the merge but you get an error
Here are some Microsoft articles that might help.
Works: Database Does Not Merge into Works Word Processor or Word Document
Works Suite: Unable to Use a Works .Wdb File as Mail Merge Data for a Word Document
Works 2000: Data Is Not Merged When You Create a Mail Merge Document
Finally, you might try saving the database as a comma delimited (.csv) file since that's compatible with almost everything.

I am running Windows XP-Home and use Outlook Express for my e-mails.

My question is - is it possible to also show the address book on the tool bar in Internet Explorer? It would be so convenient because if I am browsing the internet, sometimes I find an article I'd like to send to someone in my address book and then I have to minimize the web page, go into Outlook Express and then into the address book.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you.

Cheryl

A:Address Book

If you don't have the Mail button on the toolbar, in Internet Explorer, go to View>Toolbars>Customize. In the left-hand pane, find "Mail," click on it to select it, click on the Add button to place it on the toolbar. (If it's not in the left-hand pane, it's already on the toolbar).

Then when you want to send a page, click on the tiny drop-down arrow next to the Mail button and choose either "Send page" or "Send a Link," depending on which you want to send. That will open an Outlook Express new message window and all you have to do is add the address.

Assuming you're using Outlook Express, did you use OE's File>Import to import the saved address book? If not, try that.

What's the exact name of the file you saved? It should be a .wab file preceeded by your user name. If it's the "wab.exe" file, it's the wrong one and will not contain any addresses.

If it's an email program other than Outlook Express, none of the above applies.

I reformatted my computer. Saved my Outlook. I have my Outlook contacts, buy when I go to Outlook Express, I don't have them. How can I point OE to find my Outlook contacts??

A:OE address book

Which version of OE are you using? You should be able to import the address book by opening OE, opening the address book and importing it from outlook. Except in OE6 its different. You have to check share data with other applications.

Or open outlook, file and there is an import/export option. I think you can export them to OE there.

I reinstalled XP and at first I couldn't even find the address book. I finally got it into Outlook 2000 and set OE for sharing data, and used the export in Outlook and finally it worked.

The older versions of Outlook Express have an import data option I think - I can't remember for sure.

Hope this helps.

C:\Documents and Settings\*Your Username*\Application Date\Microsoft\Address Book --> Copy the .wab file. Once you've set up your new system, use the OE "import" function and point it to whatever medium (floppy, CD, DVD, etc.) you've used to store the .wab file. OE will then import/install your original Address Book into your new identity on OE on your new system.

So, long story short, I've tried everything I know to re-install my OE Address Book, but no go. I get a red X when I click on the old files, and absolutely nothing when I click on the Address Book in any part of OE.

I re-installed Windows 98 and IE... but I better do one question at a time, right? Still no Addy Book.
Thanks for any help. lora.

Can anyone tell me where OE stores the address book/email addresses on Windows XP.

I thought it was in 'wab' files but I cannot find one on my system.

Cheers

Hi, My Laptop died and I am setting up a new one.
I have the hard drive from the old laptop hooked up by USB to the new laptop.

I have found and moved my favorites over to IE and that works fine.

I am now trying to get my Address book but do not know how or where it is stored.

I would also like to retive the emails as well if possible.

Any help would be most welcome.

Hi,
I'm going to be getting a new tower shortly and obviously want to learn how to save my address book in a zip then install the address book in my new computer. How do I correctly save it on a disk then when I get my new tower transfer it there. I'll be using Outlook Express. I currently have Window's ME but will be getting Window's XP when I do get around to getting a new tower. Does that make any difference as far as transfering? Also would you suggest Window's XP Home Edition or XP Professional Edition? Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can give me.

p.s. I'll also need to do the same with all my Favorites

Margie

Hello!

I have just upgraded to Windows XP Home Edition & want to put a shortcut to my Outlook Express Address Book on my Desktop. I want to be able to access it without having to open up the email program.

In the days of WIndows 9X & Windows Me, a simple search for *.wab would have found the address book, but this search turns up nothing in XP.

Any help would be appreciated - many thanks.

Best wishes & Merry Christmas.

I'm trying to create a .CSV file from my Xp Address Book, but the "Import" and "Export" options in the "File menu" are grayed out. I've tried selecting all entries, but it didn't make a difference. Any thoughts?

After doing a system recovery on my Everex Explora RS2800 ( winxp, AOL ), it works like a dream. The only problem I have is when I go to my AOL address book, not outlook, I have the Red X in the white box. I have been on AOL for years. I have everything else in AOL, my Favs, Buddy list...everything but the address book. I have tried pretty much everything and did a search here in the forum, and found out about .wab and made sure it was not marked read only. That was in Outlook, which I never used anyway. I made sure show images is enabled, although there are none in AOL address book... I right clicked the X as some said to do, and a few other minor checks. I don't know why everything came back except my AOL address book. I have had the red X many times in e mail, but just deleted the mail. Another person would send the same mail and it was X free, so I figured the X was on the original senders end. This is my first real aggrevation with the Red X. I would appreciate any and all help with this. Would I have to reinstall service pack 2? The first day of system recovery, I had an error message with the service pack, ( which I can't remember now that I need it ) and the auto error report went to Microsoft. This happened about 10 times, then stopped.
Thank you for your time and effort. Kathi
