internet stops to work after a few mins and system restore doesnt work either.

Q: internet stops to work after a few mins and system restore doesnt work either.

im using windows pro sp2. last week i had downloaded something and then i started to get advertisements even when a browser wasnt open. it was about 3 different ones but went off every 30 secs to 5 mins. i went through some windows files in safe mode deleted some things here n there and ending processes.
i was successful in stopping the advertisements. although not long afterwards the internet would stop after 5 mins and i would have to keep restarting. once i tried to system restore it wont go back past the day i started having this internet problem. im not sure if its related to the previous problem or if i deleted a file i should not have?

here is my hijack this log...

Preferred Solution: internet stops to work after a few mins and system restore doesnt work either.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The file mscfco.exe doesn't look right, I'm moving this to our HJT forum for those folks to have a look.

Hello! My name is Sam and I will be helping you. In order to see what's going on with your computer I'll ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process. Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:Link 1Link 2Link 3Important!You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert. It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your DesktopDisable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

Hi

First thing, I am not clued up on computers. I was surfing the net and I got a message up from a Personal Anit virus saying that my computer was infected. I know there are posts regarding this and I did what it said and ran malware bytes and that seemed to get rid of that however now im getting a pop message all the time saying "windows - no disk exception processing message c0000013 parameters 75b6bf9c 4 75b6bf9c 75b6bf9c" i have to press it all the time to get rid of it. So i went out to buy Kaspersky internet security, ran that and as soon as the "no windows" message popped up it said there was a trojan virus and it would delete it on restart, but it didnt. and it keeps saying that. now my virgin PC guard (which origially found nothing) keeps coming up with another error message -it escapes me just now cos i am in safe mode and the error is not showing, i ll post it later. however when i say yes to quaranteen the problem i now get other error boxes coming up about autochk.ll and connAPI.DLL. i now cant get on the internet unless i go on safe mode. and even then when i do searches on google for answers it says "internet explorer cannot display web page". google was workign sort of after i got rid of PAV, however when i clicked on a link on goole it never took me to the sight straight away. it was always the third time i clicked on the link before i actually got what i wanted.

I have tried to go into local disK C and do a error check but it... Read more

ScanDisk error is "Windows cannot complete the disk
check." IE has an hourglass showing for about a second when trying to open,
then nothing. System Restore makes it to the last screen but when the next
button is clicked, nothing happens (when it should reboot to do the
restore). This computer bluescreened when running updates but I'm not sure
if that is related to these problems. I was able to run chkdsk /r by
booting from the install cd and using the recovery console. I was also able
to run sfc /scannow from windows. Also, Spybot S&D and MBAM will not install (hourglass appears then goes away).

New install of windows xpsp2. windows firewall, avg, spybot, spywareblaster installed. Pc worked on the internet via ethernet.

Set up pc at a different site, installed usb modem, The internet worked but explorer just displayed 'page cannot be displayed'
uninstalled modem & fitted a nw card. same prob.

Set up pc at the original site, same probs.
reinstalled windows again thinking that the prob must have been caused by the modem drivers, but the same happened again.

The prob cant be spy/adware or a virus but Ive run out of ideas how to solve it.

Also system restore didnt work on the first install, and doesnt on the second, an error is displayed: the application or dll c:\windows\system32\mlang.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

Anyone any ideas how to solve these probs?

Win XP support personnel tell me I have to uninstall NIS 2007 and then I should be able to use System Restore. I really don't want to uninstall NIS because I don't have any other antivirus software installed. Does anyone have an answer:

A:Win XP Pro SP2 System Restore does not work with Norton Internet Security 2007

Hi nmcclell, welcome to TSF

You can always install another anti virus.
AVG and aVast! are both highly recommended by many.

If you do not wish to do that, you can/should be able to disable Norton for the system restore, then enable it again.

For Norton 2007 product

STEP 1 Temporarily turn off product protection

1. Start your Norton product
2. On the Norton AntiVirus tab or the Norton Internet Security tab, click Settings.
3. Under Basic Security, click Auto-Protect.
4. Click Configure.
5. In the left pane, click Miscellaneous.
6. In the right pane, under How to protect my product, uncheck Turn on protection for my Symantec product.
7. Click OK.

STEP 2 Run Windows System Restore

Follow the operating system instructions to run Windows System Restore.

STEP 3 Turn on product protection

1. Start your Norton product
2. On the Norton AntiVirus tab or the Norton Internet Security tab, click Settings.
3. Under Basic Security, click Auto-Protect.
4. Click Configure.
5. In the left pane, click Miscellaneous.
6. In the right pane, under How to protect my product, check Turn on protection for my Symantec product.
7. Click OK.

I know its a really weird problem.
It started happening about 3 months ago but one day it randomly stopped and now it has started again. The PC I am running is XP Pro SP1 and I am sure that there is no spyware/viruses on it. I scanned with the following applications:Avg 7, Adaware SE Pro, Spybot S&D, RegDoctor, Panda Online Scan, you name it. I changed my ip, flushed the Dns, you name it. It is really starting to piss me off because I have to restart every 10 mins to get it working again.
BTW, the PC is the host computer on a WLAN, the networked Pc's work normally.

Gracias!

At the blue screen when it's setting up to install windows you installed the SATA drivers by hitting F6 and using a floppy to load the drivers?(some motherboards include this floppy with drivers already to go on it).

Also. I had luck with disabling raid in the BIOS(since your using a single SATA correct?) After doing this the drive may show up as an IDE device and allow you to install windows on it.

My brother in law has been having trouble with his laptop, and he asked if I could help. It is an hp dv6000 running vista. It does not have any current virus protection, although Norton and Microsoft Security Essentials is installed. He told me one of his friends recommended ComboFix, which he ran. He's 16, so there is no telling what kind of damage was done. It will not connect to the internet even though it says it is connected. When I open Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer the working offline tab is checked but will not turn off. I keep getting a warning message from the taskbar saying, "Startup programs blocked".
Every couple seconds a Dial-up Connection screen appears asking to connect to a broadband connection. It looks legit, but in the task bar it has what looks like a Java icon. This screen, a Norton updates error, and ARO 2011 appear everytime the computer wakes, or restarts.
When I took the computer I installed and ran Malwarebytes from a flash drive, which did remove a lot of infections. When I click on the icon to safely remove the flash drive I get another error message, "Windows cannot stop USB device because a program is still using it. Close programs and try again later." There were no programs running so I had to shutdown the computer, to remove the device.
I had to do this a couple more times, but the last time the computer restarted the same 3 screens appeared as well as the program Blinkx Beat. I do not know what this program i... Read more

Hi,

This is my first post and i was just wondering if anyone could help me out? A week or so ago, i decided it was time to reformat my PC (running windows XP SP2) and reset everything. I was previously running a wireless connection via a wireless card that i added, and could also connect via ethernet, no problems. However, since the reformat i have all of a sudden not been able to connect to the internet at all on this computer although it still works for my other computers and i have installed all the original drivers.

I have followed advice i found on other threads about running the commands:

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.logClick to expand...

but when i run the IPv4, it says the command cannot be found, and the IPv6 is not installed. So i do not know what else to try...

When i try to repair the connection through the windows tool, it cannot aquire a IP address.

Thanks.

I have a problem that the internet doesnt work on one computer but it works on all the others in the household. First off I check the connection to see if the cables are lose but they seem to be secure. If anyone has any ideas that would be very much appreciated because I am completely out of ideas. Thanks.

Cancel your firewall for five minutes and see if that makes a difference.

Hello everyone, yesterday i added a new soundcard because my other one was built in my mobo and only 1 speaker worked. So after i intstalled, i noticed in the bottom right corner it said Network Cable Unplugged Can the soundcard have anything to do with it? Help please i need interent! Thanks for looking.

A:New SoundCard Now Internet Doesnt Work!!Help

probly not

It's highly unlikely that a sound card would interfere with internet access. You probably dislodged something during installation. How do you connect to the internet? If it's dial-up/DSL, you may have loosened the soft-modem card that the phone line connects to. If you have high-speed, be sure your the cable is securely connected to both the modem and the computer. Usually "a network cable is unplugged" means exactly that.

A:Internet randomly doesnt work

would you post the following tests when its working OK and then repeat ALL the tests when it disconnects and make sure you also tells which tests posted are for what condition

if you are also connected by wireless include the xirrus screen shots

Please post back here the make and exact model of the router and if separate, the make and exact model of the modem

Also please make a note of the status of the light on the modem and on the router when working normally - post back here and then when disconnected post the status of the lights here again if changed

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post results here

We would like to see the results from ipconfig /all post back the results in a reply here

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results to notepad and then automatically open notepad.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here

hey all my computer is on a network at home

the cable modem is connected to the router of course

anyway the problem i am having is that the internet doesnt work after a few hours online

when i turn the pc on the internet works great but when i leave it on and come back in a few hours the internet kinda gets faulty

internet explorer cant find a page and the only thing it can do is connect msn messenger

to fix this i have to disconnect and reconnect to the network from the network connections (on the pc) but when the fault happens again the only way i can get the internet working properly is by restarting the computer

it isnt a big problem but it is kind of annoying restarting the computer all the time just to get on the internet again

cheers

My internet connection was working fine with windows xp but after the installation of mandrake linux 9.1 i can't connect to the internet with windows.
I formatted my hard disk and i installed windows xp again.... but this didnt solve my problem. Please help.

A:Help...Internet connection doesnt work...

Could it be a problem with your NIC? Make sure it is still properly seated in the PCi slot (when the power is off). It would probably be best to reseat it anyway.
Is it possible that ICS (internet connection sharing) could have been turned on somehow in XP?

Attempted a restore in Safe Mode. System came back up with all icons as normal. Issue start button doesn't work, icons open file but there is not text or data...there is what appears to be wire frames where the information should be. All files still on drive but cannot access.

Safe mode does no good because everything is blank and there is no text

None of my games will work. I took some advice of a forum because I couldnt get Perfect World to work and changed something in the registry to do with the port. Now no game will work and i would change it back but i dont know what it was previously.
My system restores wont work, wont even undo, and theres only one days worth there now. I dont know how to do a utilities reg scan which I think may be what I need to do, I dont know if its in my pc or on my XP disk. I cant use the disk because I dont know how to find my product code and the person I bought it off has gone to Cyprus .

I've done a Drwebcureit but really I need instructions for a 2 year old and I think this has happened since my last one. I had a Win32 Trojan in the other day and Vundo got rid of it I think, maybe its got something to do with that, maybe its still lurking around. Ive done a Combofix amd this was at the top - WARNING -THIS MACHINE DOES NOT HAVE THE RECOVERY CONSOLE INSTALLED. If anyone can help me, you would save my life, its driving me mad now.

Hello, I'm hoping someone will be able to assist me.
I've been having really bad internet problems on just one desktop (mine) while every other device/laptop in my house works fine.
My connection likes to drop a lot for no reason. I've already determined it's not my internet/router/modem as every other device works fine.
I use a usb wifi adapter to receive wireless signals to my desktop. I called a technician from my ISP and they said it was old and not able to receive the signals well. And he gave me some ethernet wall plugs and just left, he told me they were just plug and go. So I plugged one to my router's ethernet port and to the wall plug, and another to my desktops ethernet port and wall plug. Still no stable connection. I see the ethernet slot in my desktop blinking, but i can't seem to connect at all to a stableconnection.

I'm on my desktop atm and the wifi is okay but going out every few minutes. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
