Windows 7 Retail on HP OMNI 1109 il

Q: Windows 7 Retail on HP OMNI 1109 il

Hi,

Ive ordered HP Omni 1109 il with the following configuration

HP OMNI All In One Desktop
Model No : 1109 il.
Configuration : Intel Core i3-2120, 4 GB DDR 3 Ram, 500 GB Hard Drive, DVD RW, Integrated Graphics,20" LED Screen, DOS (I didnt want to spend on the OS as i have a DVD).

However i have Windows 7 home premium (not licensed) 32-bit disc from a friend.
Im an amateur so kindly help me with the information.

I have 3 questions :

1) Will there be any driver conflict since ill have to install the license using a crack.
2) Whats the logic behind installing OEM license information on Windows 7 retail versions using windows 7 loader.isnt there a crack available to just install a license key to convert it into a fully licensed retail version.
3) My friend suggested me to install the windows 7 64 bit to take advantage of the full 4 GB of ram.

I need help from you guys. My PC's coming tomorrrow.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi there, question about license keys... I have a retail copy of Win 7 Pro. I would like to install it in a virtual machine on my current computer and use Anytime Upgrade to upgrade it to Win 7 Ultimate.

When I finally purchase a new computer, can I use the same upgrade key to put Win 7 Ultimate on the second computer?

THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT: If I Upgrade a RETAIL Pro key, does it become a RETAIL Ultimate key, or does it become an OEM (in a sense) key that is tied to the computer on which I first install it?

Thanks in advance!!

I have windows 7 home premium with retail box license in my computer. I am thinking of upgrading to windows 8 pro because of low upgrading fee but I doubt if I have a retail box license after upgrade ? I wanna keep my retail license since oem license expires if I chance my mainboard.I experienced a couple of mainboard replaces in the past. Do you know about this? Would I keep my retail license after upgrade or would microsoft turn my license to oem?
Thanks in advance.

Can I transfer the software to another computer or user?

You may transfer the software to another computer that belongs to you. You may also transfer the software (together with the license) to
a computer owned by someone else if a) you are the first licensed user of the software and b) the new
user agrees to the terms of this agreement. To make that transfer, you must transfer the original media,
the certificate of authenticity, the product key and the proof of purchase directly to that other person,
without retaining any copies of the software. You may use the backup copy we allow you to make or the
media that the software came on to transfer the software. Anytime you transfer the software to a new computer, you must remove the software from the prior computer. You may not transfer the software to
share licenses between computers. You may transfer Get Genuine Windows software, Pro Pack or Media
Center Pack software only together with the licensed computer.

Today I downloaded a bunch of windows updates then after a restart I was getting this error in relation to Zone Alarm "Ordinal 1109 could not be located in the dynamic link library wsock32.dll" and I could not longer connect to the internet.

So....I tried to do a bunch of stuff included uninstalling Zone Alarm and AVG amongst other. I then ran ATF cleaner and Combo Fix and Combo Fix hung in the middle for over an hour so I just turned off the computer. When it rebooted I could connect to the internet and was able to fully remove Zone Alarm. I know I should have ran Combo Fix without guidance, so now I am trying to figure out what damage either I did or still have from the initial issue.

Attach log attached, no GMER 64 bit system.

Hello everybody. As I mentioned, I am using the Omni 27 - 1000et model All In One desktop computer. I have 2 problems.1- The factory-built Windows 7 computer automatically upgraded itself to Windows 10, but did not receive the Windows 7 activation code. As a result, the currently installed windows 10 seems to be unactivated and I am uncomfortable with this situation. I have to solve this.2-I do not know if the graphics card of the device is AMD mobility Radeon HD 5570 or AMD Radeon HD6550A. As a result I applied to 3rd party driver control applications and installed the AMD Mobility Radeon HD 5570 driver and said that the driver was successfully installed. But when I go to the device manager, I get the message '' The driver for this device is not installed ''. As a result, when I turn the computer on and off, I get an error such as '' The driver for the device is not installed or the device is not installed '' by AMD.I ask for your help in solving these problems.I'm sorry for my bad english.

Hi

I just joined this forum and this is my first post.

My laptop seems to have got infected by a malware when I was browsing (do not recall the site name as I realised about the problem only after rebooting).

The following are what I am able to see during use:

1. Just after booting, I get a notification "Missing Virus definitions: VPTray.exe-Ordinal not found" & below that "The ordinal 1109 could not be located in the dynamic link library WSOCK32.dll". When clicking OK, this goes off and reappears one more time. Goes off again after OK

2. Subsequently, I get a warning pop-up Symantec auto-protect is disabled. But I find symantec to be working fine.

3. While on Google, the first page of search results come out fine- but the links from this page lead to a completely unrelated sites (95p.com???) automatically.

4. Sometimes, automatically new tabs get opened to the site shiftingmedia.com with some irrevalent search terms.

5. Browsing has become extremely slow after this happened.
I am using a Dell Latitude D620 (yes- it is an old piece- but seemed to be fine until this) with Windows XP Professional 2002 SP3. Antivirus Symantec 10.1.7.7000.

I wanted to run the DDS tool also and attach the log- but I am not getting a DOS kind of scree as shown in the site and the single out txt file is completely garbled.

Symantec AntiVirus displays fault symbol on system tray. Symantec scan finds nothing. Ad Aware scan finds nothing.

Hi.

I'm going to buy a new laptop without O.S., so I want to buy Windows 8 Retail to do a new installation.
How can I do this? I only find upgrades...
Is it possible?

Thanks :)

A:Buy Windows 8 Retail

If you are building a system yourself, or have hardware HDD that does not have any Windows version, look to get the Windows 8 System Builder edition at a retail outlet, usually at large computer-electronic outlets and online at places like Newegg, TigerDirect, Amazon, etc.

What brand of laptop are you buying (that would -not- have an o.s. ?)

Take care when buying a new system that would have Windows 8 preloaded from the factory. You may well have the basic Windows 8 edition from the factory or retail outlet, as opposed to having the Windows 8 PRO edition, which has expanded features.

Should a retail version be used instead

A:Windows XP---OEM vs Retail

OEM and Retail are the exact same feature set.
OEM is bought from a distributor or an OEM site like Newegg.
Retail is bought from a retail store. BestBuy, Circuit City, Office Depot, etc.

Retail and OEM keys and CD's cannot be used interchangeably. XP will install but it will not activate.

So the question is should I purchase a OEM version for a lower price or pay few extra bucks for the retail version?

one more question: Can i use the same OEM Windows CD on 2 or more machines? Yes i can right? and the activation is just the same as the retailer version?

The result is not different at all . . just the pricing, EULA's and installation process.

What are you intending to install on? A new system?

Activation is the same, but you can only install the same Key on one machine at a time . . same for OEM as Retail or Upgrade

Does anyone know where I can find retail copies of Windows 7? It's really hard for me to find them.

A:Windows 7 Retail

I did a quick look around and the only retail versions I could were grossly overpriced ones being sold by dodgy vendors. NewEgg still has OEM versions; that may be your only safe choice (there are a lot of counterfeit ones knocking about).

I'm glad I scored my retail copies 14 months ago.

I want to upgrade my new HP system from Win2K to WinXP Pro. I have OEm disks for the XP but the product key I have for WInXP will not be accepted.

I have tried changing the HDD Jumper to Master with no luck (This does the trick most times). Is the OEM ver CD holding me back since it is not the same system it was made for? do I need a retail ver?

A:Windows XP OEM or Retail!!

If it is the HP OEM Disc, it is very likely it will be tied to the HP BIOS and will not install on another system ( Dell is like that I know )

You can buy either a upgrade version or a OEM version that will work fine. The OEM version will require that you also purchase a piece of hardware, but it can be anything

You can usually buy a retail upgrade version for close to the same price at the computer store sales.

You can perform a clean install with a upgrade version. These are good guides to reinstalling XP . . you might want to print one for reference during the install.

i am wanting to know where can i buy windows 8.1 full version i saw this site selling it but is it legit its called my choice software https://www.mychoicesoftware.com/products/microsoft-windows-8-1-professional-retail-box has anyone here had any experience with this site?

A:windows 8.1 retail

Is this an upgrade from from home to pro on a computer that originally had 8 or 8.1?

You can download the same version as what 8.1 version you had here. If you computer is OEM with 8 or 8.1 preinstalled you will automatically be activated. Just skip the windows that asks for the key. If you are upgrading from home to pro you will need to purchase a Pro key.

I have no experience with the company but you can buy an OEM disk if you plan on keeping the OS with the computer.

You can go the Ebay route but make sure the sell has a high rating and you can receive a refund from ebay if the sale is not legit.

Where can I get a genuine retail version of Windows 7 at a decent price from a good known source?

A:Need Retail Windows 7 Pro 64-bit

I don't think anyone has found a source for any retail keys in a long time, you can try Amazon although even they are only offering OEM in all the categories I've checked, EBay may have some listed but a very high proprtion of even the OEM versions are already used and fail activation, or are straight pirates. Another option would be a small local technician or PC store who may have something unsold

I've been looking this up for a while, but haven't been able to find a straight answer.
I currently have the RC of Windows 7, and I'm looking to purchase the home premium version of W7.
As offered on the windows 7 website, there is the cheaper upgrade option, and the full version option.
I do plan to do a clean install, not hack and do an upgrade thing like I've been reading about.
I was wondering if I need to buy the full version or if I could get the upgrade version.

Thankyou so much for your help.

By the way, my laptop came preinstalled with Vista, so all I have is the product key with a license sticker on my laptop, no discs.

what is the difference between windows 7 OEM and retail version?

A:Retail vs OEM Windows 7 differences

1) OEM win7 comes preinstalled on computers. This is the cheapest way to buy windows. Large PC manufacturers like Dell, HP etc. (collectively called royalty OEMs) install windows on millions of such PCs. The main characteristics of such systems are:

a) The license agreement and support agreement is between you and the PC maker, not MS.

b) Activation by the end user is not required. Windows is preactivated at the factory by the OEM using images and standard SLP keys.

c) Your copy of windows is locked to that PC. The license is not transferable.

2) OEM system builder is what you get when you buy from say Newegg or from a local "white box" vendor. It too has the characteristics of Royalty OEM windows. Although it is possible for an individual to buy a System Builder copy, the license requires that the software be installed using the OPK (OEM preinstall kit) and then resold.

3) Retail version is what you buy from a retailer like Amazon or Bestbuy. Its a full price version that comes packaged in a retail box with a retail product key. It has to be activated online via MS servers using the key on the box, it is not tied to the PC it was first installed on, though it can only be used on a single computer at a time. And, MS directly provides the support for it. It is also more expensive than OEM copies.

As far as functionality is concerned, theres no difference between any of the versions above, given any specific edition (i.e. between OEM pro and retail pro, o... Read more

After putting a new larger HD into an eMachines system, I installed a retail copy of Windows XP Home which I had 'slipstreamed' with SP3 and all the security fixes since that was issued up until about a week ago. This is done quite routinely by thousands of people and works fine most of the time. This time, though, I hit a snag. I tried to use the Product Key printed on the back of the machine and the retail copy of Windows won't accept the key as valid. Well, the key IS valid. It's printed on the back of the machine. The product sticker on the back of the machine says it is for XP Home and the machine was purchased new in 2005 so it's got to be SP2. This retail copy is also XP Home SP2 (with updates slipstreamed into it). Surely there is a way to register a re-installed copy of Windows with the machine's original product key? Do you have to contact Microsoft directly (by phone) instead of going online? Or does the OEM offer some sort of option (like a patch for the key checking code)?

A:Retail Windows & OEM Product Key

Most OEM product keys are special keys that only work when used on the OEM version of the OS and the original hardware. As far as I know, there's no way to use an OEM key for a retail version of Windows or vice versa. Why not just use the key that came with your retail install CD?

Hi, I think the title says it all. Is there any difference between the RTM versions of Windows 8 (also available on MSDN / Technet) and the retail Boxed DVD version in terms of features or are they exactly the same (bit to bit)?

Thanks

A:Windows 8 RTM vs Retail Boxed DVD

Eh, I'm willing to bet they're the same.

Of course dell or hp like to throw in their kinks with every computer they sell, but otherwise the os shouldn't be much different.

Is that what you are asking?

By kinks I mean (for instance) dell has a rocket dock (similar to that of a Mac OS computer) that comes when you buy a dell pc... Besides those minor changes they are, I'm sure, the same.

I have three home desktop pc's
one runs windows xp sp3
one runs windows98 with sp
one runs windows 2000

I have a boot problem with the xp machine and cannot find any friends that have an xp disk to borrow. Like me they all got xp pre-installed and no disc provided. ( microsoft have you by the preverbials).

Not able to download hirens boot cd on my other machines, so as a last resort I am considering purchasing a copy of xp and using that.

The question is which version should I buy Retail or OEM and will the licence allow me to use the one disk to install it on all three machines.

I have managed to download and make a cd of ubuntu but cannot work out how to use that to repair the xp boot problem.
I have tried it direct from the cd; it loads ok but how do I get to the command prompt to run chkdisk ?

thanks John

A:windows xp home. retail or oem ?

License will not allow you to install on all three.

98 hardware most likely is too old to run xp properly.

Retail would be the correct choice since OEM is tied to the original equipment manufacturer hardware.

Is there any way to do this without reinstalling my computer?

Hopefully there will be (I'm hoping it will be possible via the Windows Store Upgrade to 8.1)... but we'll need to wait just a few more hours to find out!

Microsoft have said you'll need to reinstall all your software though.

I made an ISO of my genuine Windows 7 Professional upgrade DVD and then downloaded a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate ISO. While I was deleting the ei.cfg file, I noticed that the folders and files are all the same. So is there any difference between the upgrade DVD and the retail DVD?

A:Is the Windows 7 Upgrade DVD the same as retail?

Same installer.

It is the key which is version specific.

The same was true for Vista. Once you unlock all-versions you can use the DVD to clean reinstall retail copies, factory installed OEM's, etc.

They will often auto-activate if you audit the OEM key from the mobo using Belarc Advisor, otherwise the batch keys now on the license stickers can be sorted out in the robocall to MS activation.

I have a machine that has an activated retail windows 8 that came from the upgrade offer.

I just downloaded the 8.1 RTM from technet and burned the ISO install media to a DVD.

Will it work to upgrade the retail windows 8 with the RTM DVD by simply doing a setup.exe from within windows 8?

Will it retain the original permanent retail key after the upgrade?

Also, I'm assuming that any additional changes to the 8.1 will come through online updates so it will get caught up to whatever is released to the general public?

A:Updating Retail Windows 8 with 8.1 RTM

As far as I know, you can't run an upgrade 8 to 8.1 using the iso. There might be some fiddly workarounds.

Hi Sevenforums!

This is my first post here so I'll introduce myself very quick. I'm Nicolai, I live in Denmark and I am a Windows fanatic. Now that was short!

Anyway, I recently managed, through my work, to legally get a copy of the Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit retail, and I'm just loving it so far! I am however, quite messy, and I have a feeling that the little piece of paper containing my serial number will be gone very soon.

So ehrm, can I activate Windows 7 without waiting for the 30 days to pass? If yes, how?

Also, I know this is a bit off-topic, but where do learn to modify the right-click context menu via Regedit? I tried downloading some files on here and it did frankly not work for me :\

Thanks a lot in advance!!

basically i can get some workstations at a good price, however they come preinstalled with windows 7 pro 64-bit.

i am loath to release 64-bit as yet into my workplace, its caused issues already on a couple of workstations so i dont want anymore in there.

i know that my oem licence on the machine (sticker) will cover me for 32 and 64 bit correct?

however as its an oem key, can i use a retail boxed copy of windows 7 pro 32-bit installer to reinstall then bang my oem licence key in and all will be well and good both from a it will work physically point of view and a i can activate windows and be all legal point of view as well?

cheers

Upgraded from win7 to win 8 and then to win 8.1. After upgrading to Win 8, I have upgraded my PC ( new motherboard , CPU Video card etc. ) and had lots of problem during activation of Windows in my new PC. I had to call customer care service and after a very lengthy procedure windows could be activated. The service personal also told me that if I change my motherboard/cpu in future then the same procedure will follow again. As far as my understanding only OEM versions of windows are tied to the motherboard , so is my win 8 which I upgraded from win 7 is an OEM version ? How do I know that.

A:Windows 8 , is it a retail or OEM version ?

Big hardware changes like a motherboard swap (new chip-set) will trigger activation, even on Retail versions. The intent is to prevent you from using your product code on more than one PC at a time. OEM versions cannot be transferred to another PC but Retail versions can. If you had an OEM version Microsoft would have been within their rights to refuse to allow you to activate it again on the new hardware. Since its Retail they gave you a code to plug in and activate with.

2. Gadgets ARE gone.

4. As rumored, Games for Windows is being directly linked to my XBox account. No wonder Valve/Steam is upset over Win8.

The retail and OEM versions are identical in operation. The OEM version has NO Microsoft support however, the OEM (you) are responsible for problems.
You will have one key in the retail version and only one architecture, 32 or 64 bit can be installed at one time. this give the user a choice.

Hi, everybody,

The nonprofit organization I work for received a donation of some used PC's with Windows XP. I've been tasked with upgrading them to Windows 7 (we don't want Windows 8+ on them at this point; these are decent pre-used computers but we don't expect them to last more than 5 years). I'm a little unclear as to whether I can buy and use the OEM or not, and what the pros and cons of that would be. Since the difference in price between the OEM and the Retail is $200+, I'd definitely like to go with the OEM if I can. Any recommendations?

Thanks!!

Does the windows 10 Home USB drive that you buy at your local electronics store contain both the home and Pro editions or just the home edition.

reason being that I used the free upgrade to windows 10 pro on my laptop and my HDD crashed now I need to load a fresh copy of 10 on to it and I only have a USB drive for 10 home.

I have no problem downloading the ISO, but at the speed of my internet that will take about 24-26 hours depending on the traffic with the ISP.

Thanks ahead.

A:retail windows 10 USB questions

When you buy a Windows 10 Home at the store, you also buy the license key which you don't need. If your internet speed is slow, maybe you can ask your friend or family member who has fast internet to download for you then re-install to a new HD on the same PC. Windows should be activated automatically
