Can the XPS8700 be upgraded with Kingston KCP313NS8/4 Memory?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Thank you for your message.Yes, this memory is compatible with the system. This system model has 4 memory slots & supports a maximum up to 32 GB @ 1600 MHz DDR3/DDR3L (1.5 V).However, if you use memory stick of two different speeds, the memory will be down- clocked to the lowest speed. We would recommend you to look for a memory which has a speed of 1600 MHz for better performance.

Adding memory: is "system specific" memory worth it? (Kingston DDR4) I have a recent P50, and want to add more memory to it. I'm planning to go with Kingston. I've heard it's better to avoid "Value" memory. But I'm a bit stuck on which of the different Kingston lines to go with beyond that. Is there any real difference in getting the "system specific" memory, as opposed to, say, the HyperX? Do Lenovo laptops tend to do ok with the Kingston HyperX? Specifically, the "system specific" memory I was looking at is: Kingston 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) System Specific Memory Model, KCP421SD8/16 And the "gamer targeted" memory I was looking at is: HyperX Impact 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Laptop Memory Model HX421S13IB/16 Kingston has a memory finder tool on their site, which points to the System Specific memory. However, I called them and they said this particular HyperX should work too. I'm sure this is not a novel observation, but I was surprised to find that the "system specific" memory is more expensive than the gamer-targeted HyperX. (At least, once you take into account that those go on sale more often.) I'd in theory rather go with the HyperX because it claims to be fast, etc. On the other hand, there is in theory some appeal to the idea that the System Specific is guaranteeing compatibility. On the other hand, it'd suck to buy the System Specific and find out it's basically just the same thing as, say, Va... Read more

What will be the better brand to buy if you had to choose between these two.

Corsair or Kingston HyperX T1

Kingston HyperX T1
KHX1600C9D3K3/6GX 6GB 1600MHz DDR3 Non-ECC CL9 (Kit of 3) XMP 9-9-9-27 1.65V Intending to purchase 2 sets for 12GB of Ram
http://www.kingston.com/hyperx/products/khx_ddr3.asp

Corsair
HX3X12G1600C9 1600MHz 9-9-9-24-2T 1.6v 12GB (6x2GB)
http://www.corsair.com/products/corei7/faq.aspx
It says here the clock speed is PC3-12800 (Haven't got a clue what this means) http://www.corsair.com/products/corei7/default.aspx

Would like 12GB of memory for video editing.

Instead of starting another thread because there is something else I'm confused about. Is there much difference between CL7 and CL9 and will you notice the difference?

A:Memory - Corsair or Kingston

Personally, I've always preferred the Kingston brand over Corsair in general. Although others who've had more experience with both may chirp in with a more thorough rationale.

CL7/CL9 are latency measures, but I couldn't tell you if it's much of a noticeable difference. Since I assume you'll be doing heavy video editing rather than plain old web browsing, it'll be more likely to be a noticeable difference, and of course CL7 is the better choice (at least on paper).

By the way, PC3-12800 is just an alternative unit of measure for the RAM speed. 1600 MHz = PC3-12800. Here's a link to a decent article if you want to understand how RAM speeds work.

I was looking to upgrade my memory from 1GB to 2GB because of my upgrade to vista. Newegg.com has some great prices and Kingstons Hyperx ram stood out to me well basically because of its appearance and price. I emailed kingston and they told me the Hyperx is not compatible with my pc (Dell Dimension 3000), but their regular ram is which is about the same price. I was just wondering if anyone has ever used this ram before or if they know if it would work with my pc. I have it ordered already and have to wait till after the weekend to try to install it.

What dang in tarnation is HyperX memory? Can it be mixed with the regular memory stick?

A:Kingston HyperX Memory

It's a brand, or series, like Chevy. It's one of Kingston's higher performance series of products.

You generally shouldn't mix memory unless it's a perfect match. Do the speeds, voltages, and timings match up? Is the capacity correct for your system?

You can choose approved memory from here: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/mfrmod.asp

Or let this scan your system and suggest their RAM: http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/

You'll still want to check it against what you have installed now though.

A:kingston memory stick

I of course do not mean to sound rude by any stretch of the imagination but given the number of views without a response to a possibly easy problem to fix, I think members are confused about your question. By memory stick do you mean thumbdrive or RAM? If it's a thumbdrive and your computer recognizes it, what's causing you to not access it (an error message, etc). What do you mean the virus scan and file system was gone? Is there any way you can give a more concise version of what's happening?

Memory compatibility is more so a motherboard thing then an OS thing. You do not need to worry about it at all.

Hi
Does anyone out there know if I can trust Kingston or Corsair when they say a certain model of memory is compatiable with my MB?

What I have is a ASUS A7V600 and I want to put DDR400/512 mb in it.
According to Asus only certain more expensive brands of DDR400 are recommended to use e.g Kingmax, Nanya, Micron etc.

I want to use a less expensive DDR400 memory of Kingston or Corsair that I can get from Tiger Direct. Both Kingston and Corsair say that the memory I want at Tiger is compatiable but I really don't want to take a chance if I have to.

Hello all,

I have a Kingston 100 G2 USB memory stick (8GB - formatted with FAT32).

I use this stick a lot, and is it a work USB. Just recently my home PC has not been wanting to play ball with it.

This is what happens:

- I plug my stick into ANY USB port on the PC
- No automatic detection, no automatic drive letter assignment, not in Disk Management
- After 2 minutes OR a forced refresh in Disk Management, the device will detect
THEN, either
- The device shows up (is detected), drive letter assigned, and can be accessed as normal.
- Windows reports that the device needs to be re-formatted, and appears as a RAW file system in Disk Managment

Before you ask me to just re-format the disk (I do have backups!), read this:

- The memory stick works on any other PC/laptop fine (including my Win 7 x64 at work, XP Pro x86 on a laptop and in Fedora Linux - and every other PC/laptop it has been plugged into)
- My other memory stick (a Kingston DT1, 1GB) detects as normal - everytime.

So this means the following:

- The memory stick is fine. Its not defective.
- The USB Bus controllers on my HOME PC (the one with the problem) are working
- Disk Management service(s) are working as normal (correctly assigning drive letters)

The only odd thing I can see is in Device Manager, in which this keeps showing up:

WPD FileSystem Volume Driver (w/ Error 31)

I have never seen this before. It doesn't normally show up. I can only guess this is causing the problems... Read more

A:Intermittent Fault With Kingston 100 G2 USB Memory Stick

Just giving you guys a running follow up of things I am trying.

I backed up all the files again, from one of the tries when it does connect and detect properly.

I then Safely Removed, and reconnected. The problematic 'You need to format this disk' (Disk management, File System: RAW) came up, I said okay to formatting the device. Windows built in formatter went a bit crazy, and then told me it was unable to perform the format.

Weird.

I also found this article - Correcting the DREADED Vista Problem - USB Device Not Reconigsed

And I have tried the suggested point the drivers manually task - which hasn't really done anything. Worth a try though.

I will say this, I did install TrueCrpyt when I got it. But the whole thing failed miserably, and I gave up. I have reformatted the drive since then using MiniTool Partition Wizard (Home Ed.) - and this seemed to make the device work. Up until now.

I remember when I set this up, it did something regarding mounting drive I: (which is the drive letter which the USB stick is auto-assigned). I shall try quickly, assigning it something further down the alphabet and see what happens.

FYI: I don't have TrueCrpyt installed anymore. So if it is causing any issues, then I'm guessing its remnants in the registry?

Hello,

I cant upgrade the Bios either, because when i press F12 when starting the computer, it cannot read from the floppy drive in the docking station. Do i need an USB Floppy Drive for that? I tried with an usb stick but that doesnt work. Isnt there a possibility to do an update over windows? (Comp is running Windows 2000)

Thanks for your help, much apprechiated.

Only the TRAD version of BIOS exists for this Port?g?.
This means that you will be not able to update it from running Windows OS but you will need an external floppy disk drive to perform such update.

Regarding your memory issue;
Check this:
http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=5388&ft=m&st=3

There you can find the compatible memory module. It?s a 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM.

Possibly you have used not fully compatible module or the module is faulty?

Hi sgtspite Welcome to Seven Forums.
To help us help you would you please add your systems specs? Here's how: System Info - See Your System Specs
Under System Manufacturer/Model Number add whether it is a desktop or laptop and whether self built.

Log in to Seven Forums and you will be able to transfer the info directly to the specs page in your profile from within the System Info app.
After doing this your specs will be available in each of your posts. Click on My system Specs in the lower left of this post to see how it should look.

Your notebook can handle with 4GB of RAM and I recommend you to use 2 x 2GB module.
Compatible 2 GB module has part number PA3513U-1M2G or Kingston KTT667D2/2G.

Put the part umber in Google and you will find a place where you can order it in your country.

Hi

I just bought a USB drive (i.e. "memory stick") from Kingston. It works fine on my Windows XP computer, but on my Windows 7 Pro (x64) computer it is failing to work.

It is showing up under Control Panel > System > Device Manager, where it appears under "other devices" with the name of "DT Rubber 3.0", but it has a little "!" in a yellow triangle. And when I right click on it and select Properties, the Device Status is "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" however it cant find a driver either on my PC nor when it searches online.

Worse on the Kingston website, it says that there aren't any drivers for this device.

I have a home built ASUS A7N8X2 Deluxe MoBo with an AMD Athlon XP 2800+ CPU. I upgraded Win XP Pro to VISTA Ultimate with no problems other than upgrading a few drivers. It went smoothly. At the time I had 1 GB in one of 3 available slots. I attempted to add 2 GB more to occupy all 3 slots. This produced a reboot after POST as VISTA started. I rotated the the modules through all slots and finally realized that when I went beyond 2 GB it produced a reboot. During post it tests 3 GB and the BIOS displays 3 GB. I have 512MB of RAM on the video card. Any suggestions ?? I am running the latest BIOS and if I remove one GB the machine boots and runs great... ???? Ron

Hello together !

For your information:

Did a memory upgrade today at 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 (1,9 GH, 256 MB DDR-RAM originally), both up to 1 GB, all fine and not problems.

Just wanted to end rumours about "only 512 MB all together" or even less.

If searching for it, remember to think of the specifications:

DDR-266 (PC2100)
DDR-SDRAM, SO-DIMM
200 PIN
CL 2.5

concerning RAM frequency, building form etc.

Greetings

L0nestar

P.S.: Don`t think a discussion is necessary, thread could therefore be closed...

According the notebook specification Satellite Pro has two memory slots and can be upgraded up to 1 GB. It is very useful to have your confirmation about RAM upgrade for this old but still good notebook model.

Have a nice day.

The motherboard has an imprint which says "945GCT-HM REV 1.0B". It already has a 1GB RAM which has the following labels on it:1GB 1Rx8 PC2-5300U-555-12HYMP112U64CP8-Y5 AB-C Google led me this link when I searched for my motherboard specifications. The memory information in the link says the following:Dual channel memory architectureTwo 240-pin DDR2 DIMM socketsSupported DIMM types:PC2-3200 (400 MHz)PC2-4200 (533 MHz)PC2-5300 (667 MHz, runs at 533 MHz)Non-ECC memory only, unbufferedSupports 1 GB DDR2 DIMMsSupports up to 2 GB 1. Is that the correct link for my MB model?2. What is the maximum memory capacity I can have?3. What is the RAM frequency of my existing RAM, can I get a better one?4. Can I get another RAM with the exact same specs (that of the existing RAM) and use it in the second memory slot? Thanks

Is there a setting I need to change in the bios or somewhere else to get it to recognize the new memory? I have worked on lots of computers as and IT specialist for the last 20 years and built numerous one from scratch and have never ran into this before.  Any help would be appreciated.

If there is one 128MB stick, can it be removed and replaced with 2 256MB sticks; ending up with 512MB vs. 256MB?

A:memory upgrade??

Yes, as long as your motherboard supports the new memory, it should work fine.

I Have a HP Pavillion 510w which came with 128 Megabytes of memory. I have since upgraded to 256 Megs and an Nvidia 32 meg Video card with no trouble. I tride to up grade to 384 megs by adding 256 megs in place of one of the 128 meg chipboards. When I do, my monitor will click on when I power up, but then immediately clicks off. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

Friends:I would like to upgrade the memory on my HP19-2404 All-In-One desktop computer. It came with 4GB (!) of installed memory and has one empty slot. I was told by the good folks at Fry's that I could upgrade to 16GB if I wanted to. I am going to upgrade to 12GB, using the original 4GB board and add a new board with 8GB to give a total of 12GB. Anyway, I need to know if there is anthing I need to do after I install the memory? Do I just fire it up and see if everyting works ok? Or is there something that needs to be done after making an upgrade like this. I have done this before on a previous laptop and it worked fine. I thought that I would ask about this before I actually perform the switch. It will save me $80 to do it myself as opposed to taking it in to Fry's and having them do it.  Thanks for any help y'all can provide to this newbie! Steve

Y'all take care!

Will it slow my pc down to have 1 gig of dual channel memory and 1 gig of regular memory?

I found this thread regarding dual channel memory and from what I get from it all the sticks of memory have to be tha same size as in all 256's or 512's etc...

Hi Everyone! I have 512 memory running XP on a Dell 1.6 Pentium. Do you think there would be a radical difference if I upgraded to a gig? Im hoping for faster performace with my apps, mostly iTunes and Firefox. They don't open very fast. Or do you guys think its the processor. Anything would help. Thanks!

A:Memory Upgrade?

You will notice a difference especially with applications that eat up resources like Ms Office If you upgrade to 1Gb. slightly on startup more so when opening applications and loading Internet pages.
