Yoga 3 pro Not recognizing microphone?

Q: Yoga 3 pro Not recognizing microphone?

So I used to own a lenovo yoga 2 pro, and I had audio jack headphones and as well as an audio technica microphone which used an xlr cable to 3.5mm audio jack, the main problem for that laptop was the fact it only had one audio jack, but i need 2 in order to use both my micro phone and headphones, so I bought a jack spliter and this solved the problem Only Recently I switched to the lenovo yoga 3 pro, but this solution does not work for the new laptop. The Headphones work fine but the computer fails to recognize the microphone and instead uses the default mic installed in the pc, which sounds like im in the toilet. Both Computers used windows 10 so Im not sure how to fix this problem

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought an IdeaPad 300-15 a month or so ago, and my cousin installed Windows 7 on it with great difficulty. It's been working fine (for the most part), but I've run into a problem. The notebook only comes with a single jack, and for some reason, when I used an audio splitter, it doesn't recognize the microphone. How do I solve this issue?

So I just upgraded my Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, and before I upgraded my computer recognized my Turtle Beach X12's as a headset and a microphone. When I plugged in my headphones on the new Windows 7 it only used them as a headset and didn't work as a microphone. How can I make the mic work? Here is a picture of it. I already tried showing disconnection and disabled devices as well. http://gyazo.com/f617c5f3e78f7151b376e80fb0cfd838 here is my picture.

A:Windows 7 not recognizing my microphone?

The first thing I see is you only have "High Definition Audio Device" sound drivers. You need to install the Dell sound driver. The High Definition Audio Device is the generic, basic function Windows installed sound driver.

The generic driver does not show anything in the recording section, the Dell driver should.

There are two sound drivers listed for the XPS420 on the Dell site, for Vista (which will work for Win 7). The on-board Sigmatel and for those with the optional SoundBlaster there are Xfi drivers. Install whichever is applicable to your system. Whatever drivers you had in Vista are the same for Win 7.

Hopefully I am posting this in the right forum, if not please let me know so I can move it! Sorry!

I just bought a Razer Kraken Pro headset. I've installed the audio software it suggested, and I'm getting great sound through the headset. However, I cannot for the life of me get it to pick up the Mic.

I've Googled around, but literally nothing out there is useful help. I'm not real sure what to do.

I'm running Windows 10 on an older HP Pavilion... not sure what other system specs you'll need? Please help!

Hello my 8 month old yoga mic was working fine until the driver was auto updated, i believe through windows update and now the yoga cannot hear me at all.  I uninstalled the Realtek driver and installed the Microsoft HD drivers under Sound, video and game controllers with no change.   My yoga was also updated to Win 10, ver 1809 at this time, which i hear is buggy.  I also installed the latest Realtek drivers from Lenovo and that did not fix the problem either. I turned off Beam forming in the Realtek HD manager and that did not make a difference either!! Please Help,, this is so frustrating!!!!!

My boss has a 4 year old Yoga 3 Pro.  She contacted me on a day off and told me the light that is normally white was amber and blinked three times, and would not boot.  She has essentially no technical knowledge, so my suggestion (after reading forums) as she described the problem to me was that she needed a battery, so she had me order one which will arrive in a couple days (i.e. it's not here yet). Flash forward to me actually looking at the Yoga myself.  Turns out I was able to get it to power up.  It said the battery was at 2% and that I should plug it into a power source.  Problem being that it *was* plugged into a power source, and has been because she only uses it at her desk.  I thought I'd try replacing the power cord so got one "same day", but it did not change anything.  I didn't try a new puck though, but that seems not likely the issue to me. I have other brands of laptops and am not very familiar with ones with built in batteries.  Under normal circumstances, should the Yoga 3 Pro work even with a dead battery or no battery, if it is plugged in to power?   Wondering because if it should, it's obviously not the battery and we can return the battery we ordered.   Husband, who is a computer tech but has not personally seen this Yoga, thinks it's a motherboard issue and/or bad charger port issue, and that the Yoga should just be trashed and replaced, and I'm starting to think that as wel... Hello Everyone! I am just starting to have an issue with my X1 Yoga where my touchscreen is starting to detect my hand while writing and causes my penstokes to be severely misplaced and all together makes writing impossible on the touchscreen. Here is the kicker though, this is only happing when I either have the charging cable or an HDMI chord to my auxillary monitor plugged into the laptop. When these chords are unplugged, the touchscreen functions perfectly as it has for the last 2+ years and writing on the touchscreen is perfect. Just last week and since the start of June 2019 I have been using my laptop with the auxillary monitor and charging cable plugged in and have had no issues with writing on my touchscreen. This issue with writing while having my chords plugged in just started happening yesterday for whatever reason. Does anyone have a way to fix this so I can write on my touchscreen while having my monitor and/or charging cable plugged in? I am just starting medical school and have found having the auxillary monitor is really helping my studies so I would love to be able to utilize this extra screen while writing.  Thank you so much!  All the best,Nick Zonca

I've had the laptop for 3.5 years and have intermttently had issues with the headphone jack, but all resolved after restarting the laptop. Approximately 2 days ago, the laptop stopped recognizing anything plugged into the headphone jack. I have tried multiple pairs of headphones that are confirmed to work on other devices. The laptop was turned on from sleep mode and the headphone jack had been working immediately prior. There are no devices recognized when anything is plugged into the headphone jack. The only thing I can think may have changed is that I updated the BIOS version. I have tried reinstalling the BIOS version and updating the RealTek Audio drivers. Unfortunately, I do not have a system restore point saved from before I updated the BIOS. I have attempted to update drivers through the online Lenovo diagnostics, but the driver updates will not install and the hardware scan will not run. I can't think of anything else to try, does anyone else have any suggestions?

Since my computer is completely dead, there is litle I can do to troubleshoot at this point.  I appreciate any input you may be able to provide.

I would expect it to be slightly warm but not hot.  Your symptoms can be a bad charger (most likely) or a motherboard.  Are you still under warranty?

I would like to plug a microphone in to the Yoga 730-165 (it was one of the main reasons I purchased this laptop) and it does not appear to be possible.  When I plug a device directly into the single 1/8" port, it does nothing.  I can only plug in headphones.  So, I purchased a splitter because I saw some conversations online (with other lenovo laptops)which suggested this may work, but when I plug an extenral microphone into the splitter, this does not seem to work either.  When I look into "recording" devices, I only see "Microphone Array" which seems to be the internal mic and "stereo mix".  Is there a driver I need? Or something else I should be doing?  Or is it just not possible to use an external microphone?

I have been unable to use the onboard microphone in my laptop. I don't know exactly when this started, but there are other weird issues that are accompanying it. First, when I use F4 to try to toggle the mute, it always shows that it is muted on screen, instead of toggling the microphone from mute to unmuted and back, like the camera toggle, or touchpad input toggle keys do. Also, when I plugged a small microphone into the audio jack, it created a pop-up to ask if it was headphones or speakers with no other option. So for now, plugging in a microphone also doesn't work. I have uploaded/ reset some drivers and it keeps telling me I have the best driver available, so what gives?

Hey all, I've been trying to use cortana for some time now and the voice recognition never works. I go to "Cortana and Search Settings",  and it shows the voice recognition as being on. Then I click on "Microphone: Make Sure Cortana can hear me" and I'm taken to a troubleshooting page that says "Set up your microphone." When I click that, it takes me to a screen that asks me to read a phrase, but it never registers my voice. The green bar moves slightly sometimes but always still in the red area and it doesn't even move when I screem. I am not on mute or anything. Then an error message comes up telling me it can't hear me. However, when I click on the speaker button and go to "Recording Devices" the microphone comes up under sound and has a small voice recognition bar that goes up when I talk and seems to be fine. So the microphone seems to be working fine there, but just won't recognize my voice when I try to set up Cortana. Any ideas?

Hi all,my audio suddenly stopped working (no sound at all) and whenever I record and play a message recorded by the voice recorder I just receive a feedback noise. The problem disappeared for a short while with a bios update but re-appeared 2 days ago. Yesterday, everything was normal again for 1 day until battery dropped below 45%. Then, after waking the laptop up from standby I had no sound when playing videos and only feedback sound when playing a recorded message. Windows re-install and driver re-install did not work. Also, I have no sound when booting from an Ubuntu live CD (also more like a feedback noise). Any idea? I would say hardware fault but I was surprised that it started to work again and suddenly stopped working again. Can it be a software fault or a bios problem or somehow be related to the battery?

Hi All, I got my L390 a few months ago, and I have found that I either have the choice of windows awful microphone audio enhancements, or an otherwise great sounding microphone with a loud beeping..  I didnt think this was something that still happened with laptop audio so I came here. The mic itself sounds great, very crisp sound and I can hear a lot of detail, however something is causing a lot of interference...  I have the latest audio drivers so I dont belive these are the issue... Is this the case for anyone else? This is specifically with the windows audio enhancements off.

Hello, the built in microphone of my brand new Yoga L380 is not working. I run the diagnostics and everything seems fine. Moreover I tried with an external PnP usb microphone and even if it was recognized it didn't work so I think that an hardware failure could be excluded. Do you have any guess for a possible solution? Thanks Giuseppe

Recently I have noticed that pressing the microphone mute button does not mute the microphone. The indicator will appear on screen with the microphone crossed out making it seem like it works but the microphone is not really muted. I have used lenovo vantage and the driver update thing on this website but everything is already updated.
