Preferred Solution: is graphics driver responsible for window's restart?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: is graphics driver responsible for window's restart?

1) Of course you should update to SP3.
2) If the problem persists after the upgrade, roll back the driver.
3) Also make sure you have the latest bios release

Hi - thanks for reading my post.

I am having an issue with my graphics driver not functioning properly if I shut down my PC. When I power it back on, some features no longer work.

Currently, I have a fresh install of ATI's graphic driver 9.6 for my Radeon HD4850 1GB card. I have not restarted the computer yet and I am very happy with how it is running.

If I restart the machine now, it will loose the ability to run my son's game Fallout 3. Vista gives an error "Fallout 3 has stopped working" (no kidding). Also, a game called Crysis Warhead will only run on DX9 64bit setting, where as before the restart it would run on DX10 64bit.

So far, suggestions from the graphics card driver company did not solve the problem. The makers of the Fallout 3 game have had me try some things to no avail either.

I'm really starting to think that it is a Vista issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Restart adversely effects graphics driver....

i highly suspect your graphics driver's state is corrupted.
That's very hard to fix as the reason varies from machine to machine.
If that's really the case, probably asking your card vendor would never settle your trouble.
One possible and working solution is to reinstall your vista.
i know it's very hard to accept cuz re-installing can give you much extra inconvenience. But i think it might be the fastest way if your PC doesn't have massive apps registerd.

[still, i hope there exist some other solutions. It's true that everyone hates reinstalling ]

As what the title says, when I try to update AMD Radeon 6600M and 6700M Series, AMD Radeon HD 6520G, upon restarting my computer I get the BSOD.
The reason for updating is when I look in Device Manager Both those "Display adapters" have yellow exclamation marks. Also when my computer starts up I get an AMD catalyst error "No AMD Graphics Driver installed, or the AMD Driver is not functioning properly".

Side note - I'm not very good computer stuff.

A:After trying to update my graphics driver I get BOSD upon restart

Hello and welcome Soramage now first up did you uninstall the old version first before updating the new driver?

Can you get into safe mode if so run these

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html < use the /f option in Option 2 ifnecessary

If you have access to another machine maybe you could try downloading the older version of that driver onto a stick and again if you are lucky be able to reinstall it onto the machine.
By the way why did you update if you don't mind me asking.
In a bit I shall be offline so please be patient if I do not respond when you have checked these out. Someone else might pick it up anyway.

So this problem occurred yesterday that little message popped saying the drivers had stopped working and from that point on wards my driver load is on 98% when-ether I restart my computer and I had to re-install the same drivers again to correct the problem. I'm using a gtx 680 and the latest nvidia drivers - 301.42 drivers, any help to remedy this situation would be nice.

A:Graphics driver causing GPU to over heat after every restart

I had problems with those drivers, as well, although the symptoms were different.

Did you use Driver Sweeper to clear out all trace of your previous drivers before installing 301.42? That sometimes helps prevent problematic driver conflicts. Is the 680 a new upgrade? Have you tried rolling back your drivers yet?

PS: You should also make sure that there is no accumulation of dust on the fans of your 680, just in case.

I get random BSOD (about every 30mins to 1 hour) off my 1 week old new build. I am experienced at system building and this in my 6th self build and I have never had a problem, but this has me stumped.

I get the BSOD during general windows usage, checking email, browsing, youtube etc. I can run 3Dmark11 without a problem as well as Prime95 on the CPU.

The blue screen says the graphics driver has failed to restart.

THe failed file is atikmpag.sys

I have the latest ATI drivers and have run Memtest86 on the RAM with no faults. I have even reinstalled the ATI drivers.

hi i'm new to the forum just need a few help with things,
I had this problem for a while now and i am getting physically sick of changing back to the original theme then having to switch it off and then it would be switched back to the old classic theme which you and me know looks a bit old and bland i hope there are some computer technicians on because i haven't found anyone who could fix this problem yet.

I thought it would of been third party applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking" so i got rid of McAfee and spy bot temporary just to taste it out but nothing happen.

system restore is out of the picture too because its been awhile I've been couping with this now and didn't really think it was a big deal until now

I have the window vista home premium please can anyone help i will be so grateful.

All I can suggest is to selectively disable items in your startup and see what's affecting itI'd use a startup manager for that purpose instead of msconfighttp://www.snapfiles.com/get/starter.html

I uninstalled and reinstalled the HP Support Assistant and I can pull it up, and it is running right now. I've tried MSCONFIG, and CCLEANER and cannot find any "run on startup" that might be doing this.

I'd love to be able to solve this.

A friend of my had a Sony system with Window XP Home Edition. After installing an additon memory. Everything was fine. Then, out of the blue, the system restart itself for no appearing reason. At first, it was just an occasional thing, Then one day, not long after the self-restart first happened, her system would not allows her to boot into window. It keep rebooting itself after the POST test.
At first, I thought maybe the system cannot handle too much memory, but after a careful inspect. Her system can handle the max of 1 GB (which is what is have right now). I then tought maybe it was overheating, so I remove one memory out (now her system contains only 512 MB of memory), after rebooting, the system continue to refuse loading into window. It kept on rebooting.
What could be the problems? Any ideas would greatly appreciate.

A:System keep restart without going into window.

Have you remove the old one or new one. If it is old one, first remove new one and replace the old one. Try it. Then after check the clock speed of the memory whether they match or not.

A:Force Restart in window 8.1

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

As per MS site, 2 GB RAM is required to run Win 8.1 (64 bit). System requirements - Microsoft Windows

But, that does not mean that it will not run on 2 GB RAM. It might be slow, but certainly not reboot the PC. What version do you have? 32 or 64 bit? Here's how you can check it.

1. Open the Windows 8 Control Panel.
2. Touch or click on System and Security within Control Panel.
3. With the System and Security window now open, click or touch System.
4. With the System applet now open, titled View basic information about your computer, find the System area, located under the large Windows 8 logo.

Rebooting can be caused by lot of reasons. One of the reasons that comes to my mind is, your PC might be installing updates and it reboots automatically. Here is a small link to guide you on how to disable auto shutdown. How to Stop Windows From Automatically Restarting After an Update

USE this ONLY if your PC is downloading updates and rebooting itself.

Hello. Let me start by saying that I'm not all that knowledgable about graphic cards, graphic drivers, and my current issue. I bought this PC roughly 2 years ago and customized it, so it's i7-4700MQ 2.4GHz, 16GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, AND it's suppose to have 2Gb Nvidia GeForce GT 740M dedicated graphics. I just recently started getting into PC gaming (i.e. Steam; Rocket League, H1Z1, etc). I've only had seldom issues playing rocket league, but the problems arose to when  I tried playing H1Z1. It was very slow and my fps weren't high either (even on low/medium setting). I started doing some research about why that would happen and it has to do with the graphics, so I tried checking out the graphics on my PC, but all I could find was the intel HD graphics info and control panel. I've read information that sometimes there could be two graphics in a PC so it either uses one or the other, but I can't seem to detect the nvidia hardware through the driver nor find any control panel. It says processor graphics in use is intel HD graphics 4600. I believe this laptop would've had the graphics incorporated with the motherboard or something so it would not be replaceable or removeable, but I don't seem to have it at all? My PC even has a little Nvidia GeForce sticker logo on it under where the intel inside core i7 sticker is next to the fingerprint reader. I currently have windows 10. Does anyone know what the issue is or was I just ripped by HP or something? ... Hello,I have a Toshiba laptop and this time I see a new thing -- a popup message window with the title "BESClient - Restart". The message body says "Your system administrator is requesting that you restart your computer. A:What Component Of The System Is Responsible.........

Since this sounds very much like a school type question. You also ask for links to support the answer so you can add them as resource when you answer this question.

I'll answer it this way. There are multiple factors that control the speed of file transfer. Processor speed is not the major factor. But I'll say this, one of the major factors that affects file transfer speed on a HDD is the quantity of HDD cache.

The rest you'll have to google. And you'll find a lot of information and some links you can honestly say you found on your own.

Hello, I have Windows Vista basic, Panda: Antivirus and firewall and a pretty annoying problem.Whenever I start my PC a window pops up saying (translated from spanish) : Windows explorer ceased to function. Windows is getting info about the problem, this may take several minutes , a few seconds later another window appears saying: Windows Explorer is restarting, then all the icons on the desktop, the menu bar and the mouse pointer flicker and the whole process starts again...over and over. Now, this is so fast I can't even open the start menu to shut down the computer properly.Starting on Safe Mode is no good, the same thing happens. Opening the "task administrator" (cntr, shift, esc) I can see that there are 75 to 77 active processes, and the CPU use percentage goes from 5% to 100%! I have contacted the people from Panda Software but they have no idea what's wrong, they said it might be a Trojan.I used every anti-malware program listed on the Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log, but they didn't find anything. Is this malware or did I do something wrong? I didn't want to post a Highjackthis Log until I was sure. Please help!

Are you finding any suspicious processes in Task Manager? When you experience or encounter strange behavior, always check for new, unknown or suspicious processes that may be running on your system.Anytime you come across a suspicious file or one that you do not recognize, search the name using Google or the following links:BC's File DatabaseBC's Startup Programs DatabaseFile Research CenterThreatExpert Malware SearchIf no search results are found, you are given the option to "Submit a New Sample".Determining whether a file is malware or a legitimate process sometimes depends on the location (path) it is running from. One of the ways that malware tries to hide is to give itself the same name as a critical system file. However, it then places itself in a different location on your computer. A file's properties may give a clue to identifying it. Right-click on the file, Properties and examine the General and Version tabs. You can download and use Process Explorer or System Explorer to investigate all running processes and gather additional information to identify and resolve problems. These tools will show the process CPU usage, a description and its path location. If you right-click on the file in question and select properties, you will see more details about the file. Anytime you come across a suspicious file which you cannot find any information, the file has a legitimate name but is not located where it is supposed to be, or you want a second opinion, ... I am having trouble installing any windows update that requires a restart. Here is a view of my Windows update historyHere is the error msgHere are my basic system specs.Basically, every time windows tries to auto update, it downloads, installs, then says a system restart is required. It restarts, acts like it is installing and gets to Step 3 of 3, goes from like 0% to 100% complete in a matter of a few seconds, then states that the install was unsuccessful and that is must revert back to its previous configuration.I have tried searching and doing some of the things that Windows suggests, but to no avail. I would like to start over from step zero, just so I don't miss anything.I appreciate any help with this. I do travel and am out of contact from time to time, so I will try to post when I will travel and we I return so that the post does not go dead when I appear not to respond. Thanks ahead of time.

Hi all,

i have some trouble on my machine with Windows 8.1 (non pro version) - let's call it "server". I just bought new antivirus program with firewall (BitDefender Total Security 2017). On "server" side i have few shares with WebDAV protocol
(on SSL). With firewall off i can easy connect via SSL and map network drives via WebDAV protocol on clients machines. Problem occurs when i turn on firewall from BitDefender. Then i can't connect. So i need to create rule that will pass WebDAV traffic. And
here is a problem - BitDefender software can create rules only for specific *.exe file. I talked with BitdDefender staff about this problem for few weeks for now, but they solve (for now, only 1!) doesn't work and they told me that in that AV i can't open
port for non *.exe file...

So this is my question - which file (specific exe, application) in Windows 8.1 x64 non pro are responsible for webdav communication on SSL, and where i can find it (path)?  I need to add firewall this exe file with 443 port to work ... I will be very
grateful for any answers ... :)

Well, this is the first time that I have had to post here despite the numerous virus and malware infections I have had to deal with. For the first time the combination of CA AntiVirus and MalwareBytes has failed to clear a problem. CA Antivirus reports an infection of Vundo.CEH in a file "C:\Windows\system32\cyzystno.dll", and I cannot get this file deleted. CA-AV cannot quarintine the file, MWB cannot deal with it, Killbox cannot touch it (Rename function over-ridden by a system process), etc. There are no other viruses detected by the antivirus scan. I come waving my white flag and posting my log file. I consider myself an expert PC user, programmer and system builder, but I confess I am beat. I'm planning on having a backup boot partition from now on to better facilitate the deletion of such files in the future. <sigh>...I remember when Vundo was easy.

Here is the log - I suspect a link with the unnamed BHO entry:

although i have scanned like crazy and found nothing, recently my wife's yahoo profile was hacked/changed by someone else. i was concerned for trojan/keylogger (less likely phishing scam as my wife hasn't done anything like that) and have changed all my important pw's on another offsite computer. however, yesterday IE closed and a new browser window made to look like windows security alert for trojans popped up. it did imitate a win defender-like window which was in fact part of the html as well as a popup yellow box in lower left to imitate win msg popup. Suggestions? i have run malwarebytes, norton, adware, spybot. looked at my hijack log(though i am fairly novice to it, but uploaded for analysis).

i am dl;ing combofix. Any suggestions? i am now also concerned... about identity theft?!?>

Firefox has been having sudden frequent crashes. Internet Explorer shuts down and gives me the message "runtime error." These crashes most often happen on the three main websites we use most frequently (Yahoo, Facebook, and a weather website). There is no warning when the crashes happen.

I've tried all the Firefox crash troubleshooting suggestions, with no satisfactory results. I regularly run scans with Malwarebytes, SUPERAntiSpyware Free, and AVG Free. AVG does pick up something called STDRT.EXE whenever I run a Super Mario game that we downloaded. AVG gives me the option of sending to virus vault, or "allowing". I've done both. I'm fairly sure that STDRT.EXE is not the culprit, since we've been playing Mario for a couple months, and the crashes have just happened in the last couple days. I'm no expert of course, which is why I'm here for help. Since the crashes started happening, I have dumped the Mario game onto a cd and uninstalled it from the computer.

I've also tried to do a system restore to a few dates previous to when this problem started, but it says "unable to restore" or something of that nature.....

Thanks for any help you can give.

Windows are also very slow in opening.

When Firefox crashes, up comes Mozilla crash reporter which gives me the option of restarting Firefox or quitting. If I choose to restart then restore session, it brings me to the page that just crashed when I clicked on a link. If I click on the link it will crash again.

On the other hand, sometimes we can browse for quite some time before a crash happens. Very confusing

Just a few hours ago, my daughter was playing a pc game, it froze, so she went to restart..she clicked Start and then on Restart. The computer restarted. Well, the computer keeps landing on that black screen saying Windows did not shut down properly. I have tried to restart the computer in all three Safe Modes, Last good configuration etc... it restarts and then comes back to that black page saying Windows has been shut down improperly. Windows will not load at all.

I tried searching for this topic already and I didn't see one that was like this, so I hope I am not asking a repeat question. The operating system is Windows XP Professional.
