Video TDR Failure (NVidia)

Q: Video TDR Failure (NVidia)

Hi guys!
I got a problem with my GPUs on my laptop.
Basically, after closing a game (WoT), but not all times, I get a BSOD which refers to the folder igdkmd64. I tried any solution, but none of them worked.
Any ideas of how can I solve this?
Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've searched the Net from top to bottom to find some UniVBE drivers that support the nVidia Vanta chipset and I've turned out blank. Does such a thing exist? Like, I can't play Contructor, that's why I'm asking

Someone said that I can find UniVBE drivers for nVidia cards at www.bootdisk.com, but I searched almost every link there and haven't found it.

advantis I have the same problem. I've looked everywhere but the drivers either have different series numbers (like 1630 or 2311) and I have a 4.12.01.0377 (supposedly the last 4 digits are the key).

Just read a long post from 12/01 and that guy didn't have any luck eithr.

They're telling us to live with what we have or ... get a new video card.

Hi there

Recently, I upgraded my laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, but randomly, I get lots of BSODs, either Kernel Security Check Failure or Video TDR Failure igdkmd64.sys . However, these do not happen at the exact same time, ie when I log in, or boot up a certain programme (I think). They just occur out of the blue (no pun intended ).

Any help/advice/fixes would be super helpful, as I am completely lost

Attached is my bundle of files that were requested in this thread here; BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums

Are you using 361.43 version of nVidia driver ? If that is correct, rollback to 359.06 version and report back.

Hey, I got some BSOD problems. Do you got time & experience to help me?

I got Windows 8 at the moment, I will install 8.1 shortly. Had 8.1 before i re-installed OS when the first BSOD showed up, so I doubt that 8.1 will fix things completely.

My problems ATM!

- Driver Power State Failure
- Video TDR Failiure (nvlddmkm.sys)
- Screen freezes at start up or when I get to the desktop
- Have to Disable my NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675M to use the CPU (Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).

Got two other kinds of BSOD before I re-installed windows but don't remember what they said, I just felt like "Hey I need to re-install my OS anyways so w/e". But apparently that didn't solve the problems.

I also gained "NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 340.52 stopped working While playing CS:GO" but that was before I re-installed windows. And now to use my CPU I need to go into Device Manager and shutdown my NVIDIA card to be able to use the CPU and use the Intel card instead. If I don't shut it down my CPU will freeze the screen for days, til I restart or I get a BSOD.

I will buy a can of air and open up my laptop and blow some dust away, perhaps that could help? Perhaps the NVIDIA card is burned/broken and I have to buy a new PC?

I've tried a few different driver for my NVIDIA card also, nothing works.

I'm no computer expert and thats why I'm here begging for help, so if someone could help me out here I would appreci... Read more

Heres the basics: I had my digital camera connected to my computer via usb. Through an unfortunate series of events, my computer was on standbye and the camera got unplugged without telling the computer to disconnect it first. The computer told me a file was corrupt then shut off, and it won't start anymore. When I turn it on, the harddrives start working, but my master cd drive starts clicking. Neither cd drive works at all. I tried removing all the RAM and starting the computer to listen for beeps, but I heard none. From what i've read so far, that indicates a motherboard failure, but the no output points to a video card failure. I'm not sure what steps to take next, so any help will be very appreciated.

A:Motherboard failure or video card failure?

What you can do is plug out everything just leaving you Ram, MB ,processor display card, power supply and turn on the machine once done and evrything runs smoothly and disply is shown than its none of the above device problem if there was a problem in that stage than you can narrow down try interchanging the ram module into different sockets. If you have another diaply card you can try that too. IF that worked try hooking up all devices one by one .See which one gives you problem.

Alright so i am using a nvidia 6800gt. i know i was stupid for doing this but i took it out to try it on another computer which i know can handle it, because the other computer is having a problem which looks like it may be the graphics card.

When i put the good card into the old broken computer, after hooking it up to the power supply and all, the computer would turn on for a split second, beep and turn off.

I put the card back into the working system at which point it was doing the same thing.
I know it is a card issue, basically i would like to see if somebody had a similar issue and got it fixed without replacing the card.
Btw in the broken comp i had a 5200FX which i tried out in the working one and its working fine.

I am upgrading to the latest & greatest Nvidia geforce driver package. When installing the graphics driver module the install failed. Ok, this happened the last time I installed an Nvidia driver package. That time I uninstalled the drivers then deleted everything Nvidia and the installer ran fine. This time I did the same thing after the failure (uninstall & delete) and ran the installer as a clean install but got the same failure while installing the graphics driver module. I am at a complete loss here, any ideas or suggestions? Please, I'm already in the early stage of withdrawals.

Hi,

I'm having trouble with the VIVO on my video card. (video-in/video-out) The video card is an Albatron FX 5900 TURBO. (256 MB DDR) On the back of the card there are three ports: one VGA, one DVI, and one VIVO. The VIVO port looks similar to an s-video connection, but instead is for a VIVO adapter. (an s-video cable will not fit because there isn't a little hole for the safety pin that's on an s-video cable) The adapter that plugs into the VIVO port has four connections on it: s-video in, s-video out, composite in and composite out.

I've sat down with this one on a few occasions, and I've never been able to get a signal out to my TV. I've tried using both s-video and composite. I'm running version 8.1.8.5 (the latest release -- 10/10/2005) of Albatron's nVidia driver.

I normally use dual displays, (2 CRT flat screens) but you can only have 2 displays in use at one time. When I try to get the TV display working I switch the displays in use to my primary display (CRT monitor) on VGA and secondary display (TV) on VIVO s-video out.

One issue, which I don't think should matter, is that the VIVO adapter I'm using didn't come with this card. I bought this card from a friend and he lost the original adapter, but gave me the VIVO adapter that came with his notebook. The adapter he gave me looks identical to the picture in the manual for this card. Would it make sense that these VIVO adapters are product specific and need the... Read more

I've been all over the internet and no "solutions" have worked for me. Here's a list of things I've tried so far:

I am the administrator. The only existing user.

Tried running the installer as administrator.

Clicked "Perform a clean installation" in the installer.

I don't use Windows Update to install display drivers EVER.

I never use GeForce Experience. It's not even installed. I download all my drivers directly from the site.

Yes, it is most definitely the correct driver for my card & system.

Tried disabling/uninstalling/installing from Device Manager. I point it to the correct (yes, I'm sure) driver folder and receive an "Access Denied" error when attempting to install this way.

I've tried installing older drivers. Didn't work either.

Tried a "Take Ownership" context menu method I found in another forum. Didn't work.

Ran CCleaner on the registry, as well as the rest of the system just to be thorough.

Already wiped drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller several times.

Tried disabling my antivirus, then UNINSTALLING my antivirus.

This occured just hours after I first registered for this website.

I have had some problems with updating the drivers for my EVGA GTX 460 SE 1GB and it has been giving me h3ll about it.

Innocently, just hours after I registered for this site, I was going to do a Windows update as I hadn't yet done one in weeks and decided to do the optional update on Windows 7 Pro for a new nVidia driver as I do with everything.

When I downloaded it, installed, then restarted, my computer started to act kind of funny. For the most part it was pristine, but it started and continues to operate funny with the visual display...

1) During the second Windows loading screen, the one after the glowing Windows logo, the screen quickly flickers to black and back to the screen during the process. It does this sometimes while I'm navigating in Windows as well using some programs albeit somewhat infrequently.

2) The driver update screwed up my desktop display immensely as it is now. When I originally installed the nVidia driver from the EVGA cards software CD, I noticed the picture quality and resolution jumped up immensely and added higher resolutions to my desktop settings. Icons got immensely smaller, more windows with smaller text could fit on the screen, the cursor was half the size about, and my start menu and bar with it's icons, shrunk down a bit smaller too. That was the healthy behavior. Now when I did this Windows Update for the nVidia display driver it messed everything up to w... Read more

Hi,
I have a question that I need answering.
We as a company purchased one of your Vostro 1310 models in late 2009, since then we have hardly ever been able to use it due to the aforementioned Nvidia GPU failure.
My question is: Why as a repeat business customer  who purchased this laptop directly, why have we never been notified of this problem? Why did we have to find out about it from Google and not a product recall?
I believe we paid around £600 for this laptop, that we have never been able to use?
Is there anything that can be done?

Nothing specific triggers it, only when the card is being used. I have tried many solutions. Updated drivers do nothing, stpd is not installed nor active in the registry. Here is a really baffling one for you..

I got my brand new Dell XPS L702X laptop with the following specs about 3 weeks ago:

Intel Core i7-2630QM 2GHz
6GB RAM
NVIDIA GT555m 3GB (Dedicated Memory)
Intel HD Graphics (1.5GB Shared Memory)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Let me just quickly explain to anyone that's confused by the dual graphics: Dell XPS's with dedicated graphics cards effectivley run 2 cards: the integrated Intel HD graphics with it's shared video memory (shared with RAM), AND it runs the dedicated NVIDIA GT555m. For windows, it uses the Intel HD graphics, but when I run a game, it knows to use the NVIDIA card.

Now for the problem: About one day after installing TomTom Home software (for updating a sat nav device from your pc) it failed to boot - it loads the window screen, then goes into windows, but crashes to a black screen before the desktop ever appears (so i'm guessing it's failing explorer.exe. After a few hard reboots, it eventually loaded windows, but after a short while, it will crash a program in a strange way - take for example IE. I can open IE and go onto a website like facebook, then (sometimes) if i open a new window, IE fails to respond, you need to shut the process down in task manager to stop it. There's the other trouble, using ctrl+alt+del takes ages, then pressing 'open task manager' crashes the laptop to a black screen. I uninstalled the tom tom sofware and no change. A:Driver Power State Failure Daily Strikes (Not in Gaming w/ Nvidia)

It appears that the BSOD is occurring while switching graphics between the onboard and dedicated. It happens with nvidia optimus technology, very frequently.

I dont know exactly what to do here, but I am asking for some help from the GPU experts.

But we are seeing SPTD as failing, too; and that is the most frequent BSOD causer.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from Disk-Tools.com, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

Most video cards only support Video-out not Video-in. You would have to find out if your video card manufacturer has chosen, likely not, to include Video in.

You might want to test those sticks one at a time in Slot 1 before anything else. RAM problems can explain some of your other issues too.

Looking at some of your other posts I see you are running dual monitors also. This could be exposing a defect in your 9500GT that is triggering the TDRs. You should test with only one monitor attached to see if this is the case.

You are running lots of stuff on that box, so I would be as deliberate as possible in doing the diagnostic work.

Ok I am running 2 dual video cards, both by Nvidia, 9600 GT & 9800 GT.

Do I need to use both CD's to re-install the drivers for Win 7 64?

Or are the drivers already updated with Win 7?

Or do I need to go to Nvidias website and get the latest drivers?

A:Do I still need to use my Nvidia video card CD's?

Got to NVidia's site to get latest drivers for Win 7 x64. Run it and let it install. Use the device manager to see what is going on with each individual card after. Use the device manager to install to one or both if the setup.exe doesn't do so.

Good luck.

I'm looking at the latest video cards that are out, i.e ATI X1600XT/X1800XT/X1900XT and Nvidia 7600GT/7900GT. I'll have an X2 and a ASUS SLI/Crossfire mobo for upgradability. I'm not a big gamer and want image quality so am leaning towards ATI. I'm into video/photo editing and HTPC/Multimedia, but want the card to last 3 or more years into Vista and what apps in my fields of interest become available for it. I know DX10 is coming and who knows what versions after that in this 3 year time span.

Should I get the cheap X1600XT/7600GT and wait till next year when Vista/DX10 are in service and the video cards are up to date to buy an expensive card if even then? I'm leaning this way but want varied opinion.

Will these cards not be able to take advantage of DX10+ when it comes? Will they run DX10+ at all or do I never apply that update?

My biggest goal is high quality/accurate image. But supporting all the Vista visual goodies and non-game apps to come is important. So which is it ATI or Nvidia? And which card for the winner?
Thanks

Hey there,
I just purchased an LCD TV which is now in the same room as my computer (a relatively new Dell system running Windows XP)...anyways I use my S-Video cable so that I can watch movies from my PC on my LCD TV...I have two questions...
1. When I play widescreen movies from my PC, the letterbox is still present on the LCD (which is 16:9) is there ANY WAY i can have the movies from my PC fill up my entire LCD TV without any letterboxing?
2. When I play movies, the resolution on the TV is excellent...but my desktop seems to be a little hazy, is there any way I can improve this?
Thanks a lot!

A:NVIDIA, an LCD TV, and S-VIDEO: WIDESCREEN PROBLEMS

You may be able to use a different type of connection to get a better picture.

Can you tell us what type of outputs are on the video card on your PC and also whats inputs the LCD TV will accept.

For example, if the LCD TV has a PC input then you use that for the best picture.

Cheers

Any and all help is appreciated.

A:NVIDIA video driver crash

Are you overclocking your video card at all? The error is exactly as it says. The video driver crashed for some reason, but luckily nvidia drivers are built to recover/reset when this happens rather than hanging the entire system.

I have found this driver version to be very helpful for my nvidia graphic issues.

257.15

Download it from here.

http://laptopvideo2go.com/nvidia/255...15_winxp64.exe

That is the 64bit version I assume you need by looking at your OS you listed.

Please install and try this then reply back if it helped your problem.

I'm still learning.....

When I log on computer, screen shows "The ATI control panel
failed to initialize because no ATI driver is installed, or ATI driver is not working properly. The ATI control panel will now exit".

I know that has been discussed here, but this is my question: Isn't ATI a video card? I have Nvidea GeForce FX5500 in my system (XP, 1 G Ram)) yet this error message always appears. When I pull up display adaptors in device mgr, my Nvidea shows, nothing for ATI does.

So, do I need both? I just updated drivers on my video card and direct x due to a game freezing. That didn't help. Then I remembered this error message and wondered if it had something to do with it.

Thanks alot for any help.

A:Do I need Ati drivers if I have Nvidia video card?

You don't need ATI drivers-they are for AMD/ATI graphics cards- uninstall them.
Use Driver Sweeper here:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)-download-1655.html
in preference to "Add and Remove Programs" in the control panel. I would uninstall both the ATI and nVidia drivers and re-install the applicable nVidia driver to ensure you get an uncorrupted install.
The DirectX update should be fine.

You should only have the graphics driver from your graphics card vendor ( the manufacturer) i.e. Gigabyte, MSI, XFX, EVGA etc. If the card is an OEM product then download from here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

FX5xxx branded cards (not OEM) may not run with the nVidia Forceware drivers so make sure you use the manufacturers recommended download if available.

Hello everyone. I updated my drivers with 191.07. All went well and integrated perfectly except for one anomoly :- I like fairly big icons and text, and I always use a res. of 960 x 600 which is perfect for me. After installing these new drivers, I can't get 960 x 600 any longer. I can get down to 1024 x 768 which (for me) is too small. Below that is 800 x 600 which is a wee bit too large.

Does anyone know why I can't get 960? I've been all over Nvidia's website, but they craftily don't give "conact us" details. I wiped it out and did it again but the result was the same. I have a Forsa (Nvidia) GeForce 6600 card which has 256 megs of RAM. I have 1 GB of RAM and a P4 2.4 GHz CPU.

Many thanks

A:Solved: Nvidia video drivers 191.07

In the nVidia Control Panel, navigate to the Change Resolution tab under the Display Section. Here, click on the Add Resolutions button and, on the page that pops up, click Create Custom Resolution.

Set your required resolution, scan rate and color depth.

The little arrow at the bottom left will allow you to set scan timings if you require custom settings for those too. Just leave it on auto and click the Test button to test your custom resolution. If you are happy with it, you can save it as a regular resolution selection.

Try it and see if that helps.

Let us know.

Although this guide is mainly based on video cards, it was impossible not to cover a bit of the other topics associated with upgrading a video card.

Nvidia GeForce and ATi Radeon Buyers Guide

What do you need a graphics card for? Word processing, internet browsing, gaming?

Many computers have built in (integrated) video cards. This means that when you plug your monitor into the VGA (video graphics array) slot, you're plugging it directly onto a port that is part of the motherboard. This slot is good enough to take you down the internet highway and view sites. Or to do some work on excel, word, or maybe just for sending emails. These are very simple tasks for a graphics "card".

What if you hunger to play the latest games on your PC? Well odds are, your onboard video wont do the job. This is most likely what brought you here.

You've heard that you need a video card and you probably looked through the thousands of listings offering you one, but what does everything mean? If anything, you're probably more confused now than when you started looking into buying a video card.

There are 2 main manufacturers you want to look for when buying a video card, ATi and Nvidia.

Important Information for choosing a Video card

Your going to need to get the drivers reinstalled. If you still have the installation cd run it and load the drivers from there. If not download the latest from http://www.nvidia.com.
Last ditch, go to device manager, remove the card, reboot and reinstall.

Hi coolaid
Nvidia forceware are the official drivers for Nvidia there are the signed which are normally 100% safe and the beta witch are out on test as such.
The latest driver from Nvidia 93-71 a few cards have a problem with so I would recommend
you download NVIDIA Forceware 91-47 and try that one.But what you will need to do is to clean your drivers before installing your new one's if you dont you may get a problem.Download driver cleaner pro it is free and made for Nvidia drivers.Read all about how to use it BUT AWAYS CLEAN IN SAFE MODE.
Just type into google what you want.
