I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I've had this problem ever since the computer came out of the box about a year ago. Hasn't bothered me too much, but I'd finally like to see it fixed. What happens is that at random times during my computer use, a "Battery at critical low level" dialog box will pop up for a few seconds then disappear. I haven't found a pattern to it, sometimes it'll happen twice within five minutes, sometimes not at all during my session. It doesn't seem correlated with battery percentage either as I've had it hppen a various battery levels. It is not like the "Your battery is low (10%)" dialog. The pop up doesn't show a battery percentage, it only says that it is at a critical level. Any ideas how I can get the problem to go away?  Thanks!

Hi Lenovo Forum,I wanted to ask for help and advice on whether there is a need for my Flex 4 laptop to update its BIOS.It's my first time opening the Lenovo companion app that came with the laptop and I noticed that there is one critical update.  Here is the installation history: Here is the system info from the companion app Now my question is, do I have to update this or simply ignore it?Just to clarify, I'm not really a tech savvy person. I am unsure if this is safe or not. I read from other sites that updating the BIOS may have risks of bricking the laptop and make it unusable. So, I really need help if I should proceed with the update or leave as it is. The current situation right now is, everything seems to be working fine. I am near my warranty expiration. The only complaints that I have is that whenever I leave my laptop and set it to sleep by 11PM, I open it the next morning and the battery is all drained to 1%. This does not happen all the time, but for it may happen quite frequently. Here is my battery information And one other complain is that, even if I set it to sleep mode, sometimes, I do hear the laptop fan go really loud. I am also not sure why that happens. But I hope all my additional information would be helpful on determining if my computer has issues and if I do really need to update the BIOS. Any type of help would be appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT Upon checking this link:http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/flex-series/flex-4-1570/80sb/80sb000... It seems like I have dozens of things to update that doesn't even show in the Lenovo Companion App.Most importantly, this has the latest BIOS:BIOS Update for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit) - Notebook0VCN25WW(V1.09) I am not sure what is the necessary version or required updates. This is quite confusing.

Hello,As the title says I have a strange problem ? I get error 0190 (Critical low-battery error) where at the same time my battery is full on my brand new ThinkPad Edge E531. Of course I already searched for threads with similar issue and I found this one: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X1-0190-critical-low-battery-error-but-battery... . It appears that my case is quite identical with the one of user ?gilsont?. I have noticed that whenever I leave my laptop shut down for a longer period of time with almost full battery, it displays error 0190 on next start up followed by a beep sound and shut down. You may ask ?Why are you asking us? You already have the problem ? the battery?. Well the problem is not that simple. I already returned the laptop (on 3rd day after I got it) to the store where I bought it and respectively they sent it to their tech service. After few days I was informed that they couldn?t find anything wrong with it or its battery. I instructed them how they may reproduce the error but again without any result ? still nothing. Now I am in a bit confusing situation, I can?t prove that there is something faulty with this machine. I am not aware of the circumstances needed to trigger this error. My question is ? could it be a single case, maybe the battery wasn?t fully activated at that time or something like dirt on the battery connector interfered? I really don?t know what to do.Note: I encountered the problem 2 times... Read more

Hello lovely people, recently I've been experiencing this error after I press the power button of my X220. I've been reading through some people's posts about this error and one of the topics concerning it seems to be the battery and the charger. I've tried three options: - With both charger and battery- Without battery, with charger- Without charger, with battery and the scenario is the same in all three situations. Pressing the ThinkVantage button does nothing. Multiple people discussing this error online have suggested that in this case, the issue is probably the motherboard. 1) If that's the case, what does it mean for my ThinkPad? Sorry I'm a noob - does it mean it's dead, are my data lost or can I just replace it with a new one without either of those things being threatened? 2) If it isn't the case, what are other possible reasons for this error? Should I call an IT service? Thank you sincerely for caring. All my work is inside this machine and I've developed a strong emotional attachment to it , so any responses will be greatly appreciated! Have a great day,Kyf

I have looked at the forum posts regarding the "0190 critical low-battery error" boot up problem, but mine seems a little different.  My problem with my T510 Thinkpad (Windows 7, 64 bit) is as follows: (1)  When I attempt to boot up with the AC adapter only (no battery) I get the 0190 error.  The T510 afterwards shuts down immediately.  I cannot seem to get into the BIOS by pressing the ThinkVantage button to interrupt the boot up process. (2)  When I put in a good battery, even one charaged at only 10-15% or more, then I can boot into Windows with no problem.  My T510 must have a battery in place in order to boot up.  The AC adapter alone gives the 0190 error as mentioned.  (my AC adapter is standard Lenovo issue). (3)  One would think this points to a problem with the AC adapter, but it's important to note that my battery will still charge up to 100% if the AC adapater is plugged in!  Therefore, the adapter is not totally disfunctional.  While the machine gets the 0190 error on the adapter alone, the adapter is capable of charging the battery. (4)  I should note that I'm using the latest BIOS v.1.5.2 for the T510, as of June 29, 2015. (5)  Note also that others with the 0190 issue seem to have the opposite problem.  Namely, they can boot up with the AC adapter only, but have trouble with the battery in place.   My questions:  What can I do to get rid of the 0190 err... Hi Jim_Rockford,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

This kind of issue occurs either with power circuit of the laptop or with the power adapter, is there anyone who is using the same model laptop, so that we can verify changing the adapter.

This might not resolve the issue but you can check with performing power drain. To perform please remove the AC power adapter & battery, after that press and hold the power button for 30 seconds perform this step for 2 or more times.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

I have recently purchased a brand new Lenovo Legion Y520 15IKBM (Specs: i7 7700HQ, 16GB RAM, 128gb SSD + 1TB HDD, GTX 1060) and I'm liking it so far. It would be perfect for me if it wasn't for a couple issue that have been plaguing me. First: sometimes the system takes relatively long to boot. Usually it'll just show me Lenovo's logo for a couple of seconds and take me straight to the login screen, but sometimes it would stay on the logo for 10-15 seconds (without even showing the circling "loading" dots), then the screen would go blank for a few extra seconds and only then I would be on the login screen. And when it does that, the system continues to be considerably slower than usual even after login. Rebooting the system (sometimes twice) fixes the issue entirely. This happens regardless of whether or not the laptop is plugged in, but it seems to happen consistently on the first time I turn on the laptop after unplugging it. There are also times where, when I turn off the laptop, the screen turns off but the keyboard, power LED and fans are still powered for a LONG time. The second issue would be the system freezing seemingly at random, no matter if I'm playing a game or doing lightweight work. The whole OS would just lock up and either unfreeze after 10 to 30 seconds or straight up bluescreen with a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR. I would provide a memory dump, but apparently the system is set by default to not create any. That, and sometimes it would just bluescreen ... Read more

Hello all. I am about to buy the Legion Y520-15IKBN. It's the i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060  version. I have 2 questions though before I buy it.  1. I have a Seagate Barracuda 5TB 2,5" HDD, a Samsung 960 Evo NVMe 500GB and a HyperX Impact 16GB DDR4-2400 laptop RAM. Can I install them on this model or if I open it it will void the warranty?  2. The laptop comes with no OS. I have Windows 10 on my desktop PC. Since Windows are connected to the Outlook account (I think), will I be able to install and activate them on the laptop or I have to buy new? Thank you very much for any answers

Hi Adomce123,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Have you tried running dx diag with a high graphic application software running alongside?

The automatic switch from Intel to NVIDIA would happen when there is demand for it thus you were allowed to re install NVIDIA drivers and use the NVIDIA control setting since it was available in your system. This can also be checked in your device manager as well as lenovo diagnostics to confirm if the NVIDIA device if available.

Try going in the BIOS and verify options under Configuration Menu for graphic device to run on Discrete or UMA only as option. F10 to save setting before exit.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hello everyone! I've got a problem with my Lenovo y520, bought about 3-4 months ago, I noticed that sometimes one white line at the bottom of the screen may appear out of nowhere (see screenshots), though it usually appears when I'm playing games. The line stands just at the bottom part of the screen, more exactly at the bottom part of the task bar. I must say that this problem didn't start to occur when I bought it, but after a while. Also, I noticed that while I'm playing video games, the screen would flicker (like a very short shut down) for 0.1 seconds, if you blink you'll literally miss it, and then the line appears. Sometimes, the screen flickers again and the white line would disappear. This problem doesn't occur everytime I play, but sometimes. The white line remains still, unless I restart the laptop. Now, I'm asking you for help, what is the cause of this problem and how can I solve it resulting in no appearances of such weird lines on my laptop's screen? Thanks.

Hey all,  Just recently bought a Lenovo Y520 gaming laptop. Overall very satisified with it! Last week I added an SSD drive to it and decided to do a fresh reformat from the BIOS so the laptop would run at full power without any bloatware holding it back.  Did the reformat sucessfully, installed all drivers, and now the laptop is running perfectly, except for one thing.  Since the reformat, Wifi has been giving me constant problems. I've tried just about every solution available on the net but so far have had no luck. It's main issue is: when I go to power on the laptop after being turned off for an extended period of time (at least 8-10 hours), there's no wifi at all whatsoever. Windows doesn't detect my wifi at all, even under network adapters! I've downloaded the latest drivers directly from Lenovo and even took it one step further by getting direct drivers from intel themselves. In this condition, it only detects my ethernet port, so when I go to diagnose it, it doesn't consider Wifi an issue because it doesn't think it exists.  The ONLY solution to get Wifi to work for me is to restart the computer at least once, load up the BIOS, go to the Configurations tab and disable/re-enable Wireless Lan. After that, I boot it with the saved changes and boom, Wifi suddenly works again. Thing is, I shouldn't have to do this every time to get Wifi to work. Before the reformat, the Wifi was working absolutely fine with no issues whatso... Read more

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

Hi all,

First off, thank you for reading. Please help if you do know a fix, and if not, thank you for looking!

I am posting here to see if I simply need to set a setting differently.

A desktop computer I built for a friend, who also had me build one for his friend, is having issues with one to two random reboots a day. I had him take a photo of the error message that he was getting. Here it is.

Here is the link if the photo doesn't work for you:

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o230/sparsons6183/DSCF9426.jpg

This computer shows a battery icon, that is full, in the tray in the lower right. That seems weird since it is plugged in, however I read somewhere that if a comp. has a UPS plugged in that Vista shows the battery level on the computer. It did it's reboot thing when I was there once, and the UPS beeps twice and the light turns orange. Funny thing is though, with this recovery thing running it just brings windows back up, just like a temporary blip in service. It def. powers down though.

So my initial thought is, well, it's gotta be the backup power supply. So I had him plug into a surge protector that was connected to the wall for a day to see if he got reboots, and he did. So that tested to see if it gives a battery error even if the computer is plugged into the wall, and it does. This shouldn't be a CMOS battery problem, because it happens everyday, and works fine in the inbetween...but am I wrong? The real kicker with all of this is that... Read more

A:Solved: A desktop, plugged in, gives "critical level" battery error?

Update! It rebooted when plugged into a power bar, AND when the USB cable was still attached to it. He is testing without the USB connected.

So without the power connected to UPS, but with the data connected, it still messed up.

Does this help?
