Q: Facebook not working using Google Chrome/Win8

Facebook will not load using Chrome. I-net Explorer will open it, but some of the photos will not open and there is a small box in the center of the frame. I can not figure out how to Download TSG SysInfo to include the outcome here. Any help is appreciated very much! Thanks!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My Facebook chat/inboxes don't show up at all when I'm browsing normally in Google Chrome, but when I'm in Incognito mode they work perfectly. I assume this has something to do with cookies or something similar. Just wondering how I can fix this?

A:Facebook PM's only working in Google Chrome Incognito/InPrivate mode?

I suppose you want to clear your cookies. It wouldn't hurt to clear the cache at the same time.

To clear the cache in Google Chrome
* Click on the spanner in the top right corner.
* Click Tools.
* Click the menu entry "Clear Browsing Data"
* Change the dropdown to "everything"
* Ensure that "Empty the cache" is checked.
* In this case, we also need to ensure that "Delete Cookies ..." is checked.
* Click the button "Clear Browsing Data".

I've been using Facebook for cast couple of years in Google chrome. But since last few days the chat window (In right corner of FB page, showing all the friends who are online) is not being displayed. I tried all options suggested in Facebook help (to click chat icon in right etc....but it's not visible).

Hey guys, been having an issue with Facebook on google chrome the past 3 days. It's unusable.

Very slow loading, constant "spinning" loading icon and when it finally does semi-load (30 mins - 1 hour) the entire layout is all screwed up and interacting with the website causes it to get stuck loading.

Have tried:
Clearing cache+everything else via google chrome settings.
Disabling all extensions, and then doing the above.
Installing Click&Clean and running that programs cleaner.
Running Advanced Systemcare 8 and CCleaner.
Rebooting 500 times.
Checking for chrome updates (None)
Reinstalling Chrome
Nothing fixes it. Every website is running perfectly fine, except Facebook.

Any more ideas? Thanks.

Hello, thank you for reading For about 5 days now I have not been able to get to facebook at all. It keeps saying:

Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.facebook.com took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.

I have tried the advice listed and also scoured many other forums and tried that advice as well. Im using windows 7 and the latest google chrome. My computer is only a few months old and I have up to date norton 360. i am NOT using a proxy. I have cleared my browsing data and cookies several times. Did anyone noticed the freezing of facebook using chrome latest version running on Windows 8 Professional edition 32bit??? i tried different browser for facebook, like IE10 & FF they run smoothly... is this a problem with win8??? because my friends using win7 they run facebook very smoothly on chrome.

A:Google Chrome/Facebook Freeze Problem

Yes, I am experiencing the exact same problem.
Chrome always ran smoothly for me on Win7, but after the upgrade to Windows 8, Chrome now freezes on Facebook, and even more notably on Flash video/YouTube.

Very annoying. Other browsers run smoothly, but I am a dedicated Chrome user. Hope there is a patch or something soon.

When i try to watch my facebook videos, all i get is a black screen with flash not loading. Tried it with firefox and the video works fine. IE doesnt work too. Uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome + adobe flash player and no luck. Funny enough, my other PC running chrome is able to view the videos. Any help guys? What can i do? It used to work before though.

A:At wits end with google chrome and facebook videos

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

I was under the impression that Chrome had Flash built in - no need to download anything for it.

Uninstall all versions of Flash that you see in programs and features and then restart the computer.

For 32bit IE, install 32bit Flash - open IE and visit here...
Adobe - Flash Player
...to make sure that you have no versions of Flash showing.
You can then install Flash from links on that page.

Do the same for Firefox - open Firefox and visit that same website.

This just happen a couple a weeks ago. So, I was using Facebook like any other day, but for some reason when I tried to video-call a friend I got a pop-up window saying that I needed to install the plug-in, but I already had it installed. I closed Chrome and open Firefox, and the video-chat WORKED, but just yesterday same thing happen with Firefox.

So I clear all the cache, uninstalled Facebook video-chat plug-in, re-installed it, updated java and flash, but the problem remains.

Anyone having this problem? Please help!

So for the past few hours, without any discernable reason, Facebook has stopped working on my Chrome browser. It fails to open, giving me an error page instead.

The site works on other browsers and also on other computers connected to the network, just not the main computer.

I have so far tried the following fixes:

1) Restarting my computer.
2) Clearing all cookies, temporary files and caches.
3) Resetting Chrome to its default settings.
4) Resetting my Hosts file.
5) Disabling all Chrome extensions.

In most cases, what will happen is after applying a fix, I'm able access the main page of Facebook, but the moment I try to click on any other pages (for example, the groups page, or messenger) it will break again, and I'll no longer be able to access any pages, including the main page.

This issue is very recent (last few hours) and I have no idea what's caused it.

Hope somebody can help me out with this, thanks.

Up until a couple days ago, Facebook was working fine on Chrome (I haven't changed or added anything). Then I noticed lots of funky little problems with Facebook a day or two ago.

For one, I'm unable to comment on posts, because normally, you just write your comment and press "Enter", and that posts it. But now, when I press "Enter", it just takes me down a line in my post (like it would when typing text anywhere else). With no other buttons, it's impossible to submit a post.

Additionally, there's a little drop down menu next to every post that allows you to hide or delete them. When I click the drop down menu button, it highlights (like it has something dropped down), but there's no drop down menu. The same thing happens when I have notifications in the top left part of the screen; it highlights (and removes the notification counter), but nothing drops down.

Also, if I click the "v" button in the top right corner to Log Out, it immediately directs me to the Account Settings (which is the first option in that "v" drop down menu).

Any ideas what the heck happened? If I go on Firefox, Facebook works just fine. All of a sudden, it's not playing well with Chrome, though. Did Chrome/ Facebook recently do an update, and it's still out of whack, or something?

It might just be an anomaly. See if it changes in the next few hours. You can also do a System Restore to a time before this happened.

Hi there,

Last night, I started having issues with Google Chrome. Main symptom of the problem is that, on first restart, I can connect to Facebook on the Google Chrome fine, but after a few minutes, the encoding of the page seems to be corrupted. It's only affecting Chrome, Edge and Firefox are fine. With it being a single browser only, I'm suspecting some form of malware is responsible for a redirect, I'm just not sure what, so I've come here to see whether you guys can find anything I couldn't. I am willing, as a last resort, to run a complete refresh of the device, and I have a Windows 10 Build 1511 ISO that can be used in such a circumstance, ready to go.

I ran Kaspersky and it found OpenCandy in an installer for CrystalDiskInfo, though that installer hasn't been executed since the last refresh I did so I don't believe that is the culprit for my woes, and the redirect still appears to be happening even after Kaspersky removed it from the system. Otherwise, Kaspersky has found no threats with Rootkit detection or a Full Scan of the system which I left it to do overnight.

Just to note, some of the errors you see in the logs and files relate to the computer having an issue with the motherboard hardware freezing/rebooting intermittently (which needs to be replaced), so apologies for that. It has been an intermittent issue with the machine for a number of years, to do with the power supply.

Thanks in advance for the assistance, I realise you folks are busy. :)

Hi,I was recently infected with the Windows Repair bug and fixed (maybe its still there) it via one of the posts on the sites. So I'm thinking I might have had a couple of other infections that were dormant for a while or Malwarebytes or Symantec never noticed. After fixing that, I noticed Google Chrome stopped working. When I started googling in Firefox and IE i noticed the page would redirect. And then an the "Internet Explorer Script Error" with the URL pointing to apparent spam urls "http;//celebrity-gossip.net/ashley-tisdale..." as an example. So I updated and ran Malwarebytes AM, Symantec & Microsoft Defender to see what they would. Symantec found an bloodhound virus in an archived drive. And i cleaned whatever Malwarebytes found, forgot now since its been a 4 days.I've tried the TDDSkiller.exe and that wouldnt launch. I tried renaming it too, but nothing.I found another thread and tried cleaning with SuperAntiSpyware and Hitman.I don't remember the correct order I've ran these, but followed according to the threads, including safed mode, internet off, etc...Anyways, any help is appreciated. here is the log:.DDS (Ver_11-03-05.01) - NTFSx86 Run by Mikael at 21:35:05.37 on Thu 04/07/2011Internet Explorer: 7.0.5730.13 BrowserJavaVersion: 1.6.0_24Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600.3.1252.1.1033.18.2047.902 [GMT -7:00].AV: Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition *Enabled/Updated* {FB06448E-52B8-493A-90F3-E43226D3305C}.===========... Hi! I am a heavy google search user who frequently uses google to: define ___, calculate equations etc.
But recently my google search results is changed to:

The top bar still appears perfectly normal when I am not in the search result page:

If it is related, bing has problem as well - it goes black screen:

The characteristics are:
One page itself:
- Words appear bigger
- It seems like I've log out but I am actually still logged in
- Google tips and tricks such as define, tilt etc all are not working
- Clicking "more" and "search tools" refresh the page and does nothing.
- In other places such as email, youtube, the functionality remains completely normal and unaffected
- I do not think the problem is related to the external internet settings as other devices are able to access these functions/websites without any problem.
- I have no problem accessing any other webpages.
Solutions tried and still not working:
- Completely reset google chrome's setting
- Reinstalling google chrome
- Resetting internet explorer setting
- Resetting computer's ip setting through cmd- netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
- Full scan with avast antivirus.
Any other ideas please? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated as these tips and tricks are a truly useful function for me.

I too have the exact same problem. i have tried hard for a month+ on 100s of sites with no avail. this probably is some super smart form of malware/virus which changes your IE's lan proxy settings to "", this seems to affect chome and IE while firefox looks ok. the only "visible" difference is with the google main page as you described you'll also notice that at the bottom of the page, the number of page results are limited to 10 and no more, you just cant see more results than that. I couldnt find any any solid fix to this (not even complete reformat) The only temporary solution(till next reboot) seems to be to go to internet options in IE - connections tab - deselect that proxy setting and select automatically detect settings though i personally use hola better internet extension which seems to fix the problem till its kept on. I want this dreaded issue to get some attention so that am actual solution is found :/

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Before we begin with cleaning, a couple of points I would like to bring to your attention/action.

AV: Norton Internet Security 2006 *On-access scanning enabled* (Outdated)

Your antivirus appears not to be up-to-date. Has your subscription expired?

p2p File Sharing Programs:

BitComet 1.02
LimeWire 4.18.3

his practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft. Please read this sticky:

Perils of P2P File Sharing

I would strongly urge you to remove them via Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel before we begin to clean your system as suggested in our
NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help page

Old versions of java:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

Old versions have vulnerabilities. Please remove the above version, but leave Java(TM) 6 Update 11 as it's the latest one.

Now, we can get on with cleaning. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

So, i recently upgraded from Internet Explorer to Google Chrome after a batch of virus problems that i FINALLY got removed from my computer and at the suggestion of many other people.

It worked fine for a week or two, then i noticed randomly it would decide that a website/page i was on either had too many cookies to load i'd get an "oh snap" this page isn't working because of "blah" error, (it had a little file folder with a angry face on it). usually closing the browser then opening it back up would fix the problem. Several times i'd have to go delete all the temp files/cookies etc for it to work right again.

Well tonight it started doing something even more weird, it wouldn't load anything.
Every site i tried to type up there in the http:// bar it would just forever be "searching" for the link then half of the time it would just say sorry "the page can not be displayed"

I tried going to google (my home page) typing in the site for instance "tech guys" and search, it would find a page full of websites, but when i clicked on the link (to any of the options) it would either a: pretend it was looking and just refresh the exact same search results page i was on, or be go into a forever loading process which usually resulted in it saying "the page can not be displayed." I used my phone to look up why this might be happening and people mentioned "disabling" the HTTP of which i had no id... Read more

Dear Moderator/Computer Expert/My New Hero,

My computer has been slowing down lately and then it started to redirect the links I would search for on Google. It always redirects to Scour. Then out of nowhere, I couldn't use Facebook correctly. None of the applications, "poking," or even "like" would work. I have no clue if the Facebook thing is related but I know for sure that the Google/Scour thing is some sort of malware. I am new to this sort of thing so please go easy on me. Thank you very much in advance.

What isn't working? The screen shot you provided looks fine. Be sure you do not have any virus infections/malware that may impact web browser operation! I'd suggest running the excellent free program named Malwarebytes from malwarebytes.com just to be careful. WyreNut

Every time I open it, it comes up with a small error window reading: "Google Chrome has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the problem" and then it just fails altogether. Yesterday it was perfectly fine. I tried restarting my machine but it's still at it. Could this be Windows 10-related?

Thank you in advance.

(I'm sorry in advance if this isn't the correct forum to post this in. I had a difficult time understanding the specific categories, so my apologies. This is the most relevant one I could find.)

Yesterday, I was scrolling the internet as per usual. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary. One second, my Google Chrome was working like it always does, then the next it decided it wasn't going to load pages anymore. No webpages, websites, etc. would load at all. I think it gave me the timeout error instead, after a long time trying to load.

I've already tried various things, like deleting the WiFi driver, restarting my computer and having it auto re-install, but to no avail. My roommate sent me a program that acts as some sort of proxy network/server to see if that would work. It opens some kind of incognito window with your browser of choice. That window worked fine, and my normal window began to work (somewhat) while that program was running. Thinking it had to do with the proxy settings, we opened them and ticked "auto detect settings" thinking that would do the trick, but it did not. My Chrome will only load (certain) pages while that program is running.

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think my other browsers were working, either. Microsoft Edge wouldn't load anything, that I recall.

I can't use the Sysinfo utility to give any info about my computer because I can't get to this webpage using it. What I can tel... Read more

A:Why is Google Chrome not working?

Try using Windows System Restore to simply roll back Windows to a point in time when your computer was functioning correctly. It allows you to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.

As far as I can tell, after doing a Deep Scan with AVG Anti-virus Google Chrome no longer works. I also have an add-on to the Chrome Browser called Ghostery that no longer loads either. I will include a screen shot of what the browser looks like after it loads.

I have tried to reinstall Chrome but that failed. I tried a System Restore and that also failed.

One thing I did notice is that AVG seems to have place Google Chrome into it's "Disabled Programs" section. I will include a screenshot of that as well and I will include an arrow pointing to Chrome. I looked online to try to find instructions on removing Chrome from AVG's Disabled Programs list and the instructions were horrible.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I'm seeing a rather odd problem in Chrome on a work-managed machine. I suspect that some kind of GPO was pushed recently that is breaking Chrome's functionality, but I'm not sure of this at all. When I try to access certain websites, they either only partially load or fail completely. The Chrome Web Store fails. It loads most of the stuff the page requests but hangs at either googleads.g.doubleclick.net or google.com/uds. When trying to access Facebook, the site loads but then hangs trying to load a CSS file. While it's hanging, Flash crashes several times and it's not possible to click links, scroll, or do anything else. Additionally, I'm unable to even close the tabs that are hanging. Few websites actually work - most hang, even sites I've never visited before.Additionally, I use the "Chat for Google" plugin daily. This also fails to load correctly or log me in to Google talk.I've used a couple malware scanners to see if anything comes up - my machine appears to be clean. I don't have this issue in Firefox or Internet Explorer. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling Chrome and wiped out my Chrome user profile to make sure it wasn't a bad extension or something. I've also manually uninstalled and reinstalled Flash.Edit: I also went through and disabled nearly every plugin for Chrome, including Adobe Flash 11 and Google's own built-in Flash player (PepperFlash). That fixed Facebook but not the Chrome store.

A:Chrome - cannot access Chrome Web Store, facebook, chat app, etc.

Do you use AdBlock? It was on the fritz this afternoon but seems to be OK now.

Hi everyone,
As of 12 hours ago, Google Chrome has been crashing, sticks in the middle of pages, will not load pages in Facebook or Myspace and is pretty much unusable. I have run a malware scan, a virus scan, I have cleared the history of it and I have shut down and restarted. Nothing helps.
I'm wondering if anyone has any clue as to how to rectify this.
Cheers and thank you.

A:Google Chrome Suddenly not working

Um.. I'm not sure but... why don't you uninstall it and install a new one again?
Besides, I advise you to try Chromium as I think it's better. :)

Google chrome is a web browser that i have been using for a while with no problem, untill a couple days ago. I can open it, but then it loads a white screen. Even if i type a new URL, it will still just load a white screen.

I have tried:
-full uninstall with revo uninstaller then installation
-scanning my computer for malware using MBAM(malwarebytes)
-virus scan
-having it open without anything running on my computer

All my other browsers work (IE, firefox) so its not a slow computer or loss of internet connection.

will upload last log after it is finished

Here is my LOG

I have windows vista 64bit. I use google chrome 18.0 ? The most up-to-date version. I also used IE 9. I was having a problem with java script or applets loading. I downloaded and installed Java 6.31

On google chrome I made sure it was enabled in aboutlugins. In IE I made sure it was enabled in security>custom settings.

Still it wasn't working. I went into control panel and uninstalled everything Java so that I didn't have an older version lurking around...Then I reinstalled Java but still not working. I had no icon in toolbar when trying to use Java. I had no Java control panel in my control panel when trying to enable it threw the control panel.

Everytime I try to verify it on google chrome it prompts me to install the plugin which is what I already downloaded and installed. On IE it asked me if I wanted it enabled and I hit yes but still it wouldn't work.

After reading threw some support things I ended up downloading the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Java. Still same problem with both Google Chrome and IE BUT it works strangely enough in Mozilla. I don't however use Mozilla and would like it to work in Google Chrome or IE. I know have the Java Control Panel in my Control Panel but still not working on Chrome or IE and I have it enabled so I'm confused. Any Suggestions?

Below I've posted the DDS and attached the other files.
