I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an old computer (and when I say old, I mean dinosaur) that was given to me by a friend. It has Windows XP with no service packs (imagine how much fun it is to use that ), but it also has Microsoft Office 2000 on it, and I wanted to find the product key for it. I found WinKeyFinder, but that only supports Office 2000 SP2, and I don't have the time to install SP2 (it currently has no service packs). Microsoft said they wouldn't be able to do it, so does anyone have any ideas on how I can find it? Or will I have to just install Office 2000 SP2?

A:Need help finding the product key for Microsoft Office 2000

There is the Belarc Advisor that may be able to display the Product Key but since Office 2000 support was discontinued some time ago the program may have also dropped the older things. Actually, Microsoft has dropped support for Windows XP and Office 2003 and earlier versions.

The only location for that code would be on a card that shipped with the system - if you have lost that, you're essentially out of luck and will need to purchase a new license.

Hello,
I had a laptop about 7 years ago (a dell latitude) that had XP preinstalled on it. The computer's internal parts failed, and I just junked it, but I didn't retain a copy of the product key associated with the computer. Is there a way to obtain a copy of my product key form Microsoft, since I did have a license at one time and it is under my name?
Do they keep records like that?
Thanks

Try Dell first. Best shot would be if you have the paper work with the Dell Service Code.

A:Finding Vista product key?

No, as far as I know, there is no way to retrieve the product key if you can't read it (and if that's its only location). In this case, you will have to activate by phone after the clean install.Give Microsoft a call and let them know the situation: 1-866-740-1256When the system asks you if you have the activation window open, answer "No" (you have to speak). When it asks if you have a "Volume License Agreement", answer "Yes" (even though it isn't true). You will be transferred to a real person. Explain to them that you reformatted but can't read your product key. They should be able to get you straightened out.

I'm in a bit of a mess over here and I hope someone here can save me. =)Status of current system:I have a Studio XPS Laptop that I purchased in 2009. A couple years ago the optical drive failed -- I currently have no optical drive.I've replaced the original hard drive with a new SSD. I have the original HDD (installed where the optical drive used to be with a special adapter). It has been formatted but it's POSSIBLE that the Recovery partition is intact.Problem:I installed Windows 10. My computer became sluggish so I re-installed Windows 7 Pro from a USB drive using a (LEGAL) ISO file from MS.The new Windows 7 installation needs my product key but the sticker on the bottom of my laptop is completely unreadable. How can I recover it?I have all the paperwork and disks that came with my laptop, if that helps at all. Thanks for your help!-- Scott

A:Help: Finding my Windows Product Key

Scott,
Unfortunately, Dell does not keep a record of the Windows 7 product keys that ships on the computers. If you downloaded an ISO from MS you will need to contact them for the product key, Even if you had the product key that came with your computer it would not work on an ISO download. Click the link below for more information obtaining a product key.

Does anyone know how to find your product key once you have entered it. I have Visio XP, and I wrote the key down on the cd, now I guess I messed it up. I cannot get it accept the key. I am moving to another machine and I was wondering if I could somehow get Visio to print out my key that I used. It's still installed on the older machine until I get the new one set up.

It's what I get for trying to keep only the cd's anymore.

Thanks if you have any tips.

So, my situation is this.

I have a laptop which has Win XP installed, but the installation has become totally corrupt. I can't get into Windows, not even in safe mode, and I tried repair install but it couldn't even find the Windows installation. So I'm thinking, I have no choice but to install Windows again right?

The laptop also has Xubuntu installed and I can access the Windows partition that way. But how would I get the product key from the Windows installation? Is there some file or files that I can take out and transfer over to another PC to check with some program or something? I tried looking around but I just can't quite make sense of what would be the best course of action here.

Oh and before you ask, yes there is a sticker on the bottom of the laptop but it's so worn out I can't see what the product key is. I have Win XP CD ready, but the product key on that CD is for my other computer so I can't use that.

Sorry if I make this sound confusing Help would be appreciated

So I have a Toshiba Satellite P745-S4217 Laptop and a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop.

I'm trying to swap operating systems so it is the other way around, but I'm having trouble finding the right product key for windows 8.1, and I'm having trouble getting the Windows 8.1 Pro ISO to install 8.1 from a USB.

I was going to do the same thing for WIndows 7 to the desktop y getting the ISO and installing it via USB.

Any help getting the ISO files for both and finding my correct Keys is greatly appreciated.

I tried doing one trick someone posted about first starting a windows 8 upgrade, closing out of it, then starting a windows 8.1 upgrade which would make the install assistant send the ISO to a location I choose. The problem here was I tried the key I grabbed using KeyFinder(magic jelly bean) and the program said it was invalid.

A:Trouble finding Windows 8.1 Pro Product key

The key you retrieved using keyfinder is a "oem"key and the article about starting Windows 8.1 upgrade mentions that you cannot use a oem key. You cannot install the same operating system on two different computers.Microsoft does not allow this.

So I have this Lenovo laptop with a preinstalled Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit, and somehow I managed to mess with it to the point that I can't boot to normal or safe mode, and refresh or reset the system. One of my friends told me that the OS is corrupted, so I want to do a clean reinstallation of Windows 8.1 but given a preinstalled machine, I don't have the CD with me. I haven't downloaded an installation media from microsoft website yet because I realized I don't know the product key. I have searched through my laptop's box and case with no result. Hello, sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I guessed it was the best one for it. My computer has gotten really clunky and likes to crash, so I decided I might as well clean install it. I keep my important stuff on my external, so there's not an issue with that. My problem, however, is that my product key is in an non-accessible email. I didn't think this would be a big deal at first, I just used a product key finding program, but since I have Windows 8 Pro with Media Center, the only key I can find is my Media Center key. A co-worker wanted me to clean up/repair his computer. It seemed to run fine so I removed downloaded software I knew he would not have wanted. Then I noticed it was blocking Google, and realized he had a virus and got Malwarebytes to see if it would find it. This did not work and the virus included a lot of adware and blocked a lot of internet sites, so I told him I could restore his computer if he wanted me to. However, when I did that I had a lot of image file errors. Since he did not care about anything on his computer, I decided to wipe his computer. I had my own Windows 7 Home Premium disk to boot from, which I did. I also reinstalled his drivers to connect to the internet. Unfortunately, I did not realize that only part of his product key was readable, and I did not check for it in his computer before I wiped it. Luckily I saved everything to a windows.old folder, but I don't know how I would find what his previous product key was. I tried "Magical Jelly Bean" but I guess that scans for the current one, because it said it was a default code when I tried to activate it using the code it came back with. I'd really hate to return it to him like this and make him pay 100$ for a new product key, so I was hoping there would still be a way to recover his product key.

Hi. I have an acer aspire computer with corrupted key windows files. So i am unable to even boot windows. When i start windows i get a BSOD. Now first of all i dont think this is an issue that should be posted in the BSOD section of the forum and i will explain.

What i am trying to do is retreive my product key from the BIOS with a program that is bootable outside of windows. Like from a USB for example.

My intention is to restore my computer with a clean install by downloading my windows 8 version on another computer to a usb through the windows website after i retreive my product key. Then use this usb to install my windows 8 version back onto the BSOD computer. But as i have stated, i am unable to use the conventional product key finding programs since i cant even boot windows 8. Hi:

I've done a number of things to my laptop -- probably not a good idea -- in a desperate attempt to turn back the hands of time and restore my computer to a time when it worked at its most optimal. These efforts have primarily included a number of attempts to restore my system to earlier dates, or to configure my system to the last time it started up correctly. The latter restored my computer way back to 2010.

Though the original problem disappeared, a host of new problems have since cropped up, and are proving quite resistant to all attempts at eradicating them. Eventually, trouble-shooting research concluded that the kind of problems I was experiencing -- i.e. important security updates that consistently fail to upload, or Windows asking me repeatedly to reboot my computer in order to complete the installation of updates it had already installed; it transpired that my computer would benefit greatly if I were to re-install Windows Vista.

Without pause, convinced it was the easiest panacea; I re-installed Windows Vista, not by using a Windows Vista instillation disc -- I do not own one as my computer arrived from the store with Windows Vista already installed; but by following Lenovo Care software built into the computer itself. (The process was not unlike the one I followed when I was simply executing a system restore.)

It was only after I had done this, rebooted and then asked to activate the newly re-installed Windows Vitsa that I hit a snag: I needed the com... Read more

As you can ping and presuming you have set up File and Printer sharing and all are in the same workgroup
See this, it maybe that you would be better using a static IP address

http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/103106cannot_see_computer.htm

If all that fails although largely replaced by TCP/IP try this
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/netbeui.htm
BUT the least preferable option

Try this - check first to see if it is installed.
Right click on your XP CD and select EXPLORE, then navigate to \VALUEADD\MSFT\NET\NETBEUI. The folder will contain a file called NETBEUI.TXT, it will tell you where to put the appropriate files in order use the protocol and how to install

Looks like you are installing just SP1 update, rather than full version of Office.

In the same email with the product key there should be full links to download your full version of Office or at least customer service number.

Every Office key has a specific version for it, you can not download just any version of Office (example: keys for PRO PLUS are not going to work with Home edition etc).

Have MS Office preinstalled when I got my hp convertible but how can I get product key for the activation?

A:Have preinstalled ms office but need product key

@Mohammadali1 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!First of all, you need to know that HP keeps no records of individual MS Office product keys associated with individual PCs. That means there is no way to obtain this information from HP.Second, ever since Office 2013, MS Office has been distributed in two different forms: (1) installed locally, (2) installed using Click-to-Run (CTR).  The local versions used a product key received with the purchase (or via email, from a download), the CTR versions used a product key received via email from MS, but it was NOT stored on the PC. If you have the Local version, you should be able to retrieve that key using these utilities:  https://www.lifewire.com/free-product-key-finder-programs-2625119 If you have the CTR version, the key is not stored locally, and you can only get it by contacting Microsoft.Good Luck

I'm shopping for an HP desktop. I like the p6610f that I can find on the shelf at Staples. It has all I need. It seems to come with a crippled version of MS Office 2010 preloaded. It appears I can pay about $119 more and get a product key I'd enter and convert my preloaded crippled version to a preloaded full featured version of the same set of components (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.). That's fine. I know how to do that.

My concern is: SEVERAL times in the past, my MS Office 2003 has crashed when my wife has tried to use it (she has a "limited user" acct on our current machine while I'm the administrator and I've never had a problem). I have always been able to reinstall it from the original CD which I have. That has not completely solved the problem but that's a subject for a different thread!

So if all I get now is a product key and something goes wrong, how do I start over again? Do I have to pay Gates et al more $$$ to get going again from scratch?!

A:Reinstalling MS Office with just a product key

Also, you could go into control panel > add/remove programs and choose the repair option to repair the installation.

I need my MS Office 2013 Product Key to reinstall it.  During a MS Windows 10 upgrade my PC hung and my only recovery kept my private file but lost all the OEM software. I know that my X1 came with a copy of MS Office, but the Lenovo order detail does not show that my laptop will come with a copy of  MS Office.  I have my order number and my model:  20BSCTO1WW ThinkPad X1 Carbon $1738.01. I have talked to the sales department and customer service.  They are no help.  They could not tell me the Product Key or even if I go MS Office as part of the pre-install. Could lenovo provide me with a product key for MS Ofice 2013, please? DOGGONE

So I had my co-worker reformat a computer for me, and he downloaded ProduKey to get the keys for Windows and Office. Turns out he didn't copy the key right and he reformatted so now I am without an Office product key. Is there anyway to get it back at this point? I'm stumped.

A:Recovery Office Product Key

Windows 7 Forums will not assist you in trying to recover or crack an activation code. Please refer to Item 6 under Forum Rules.

Don't you still have the original Office installation discs & a copy of the Activation code somewhere, otherwise you may have to buy a new one.

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes thousands of models of computers that are all different. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue. The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your laptop computer or inside the battery case.  Most HP consumer class computers come with a trial or "Starter" version of Office and not the full Office suite. If you purchased a CTO (configured-to-order) computer and paid extra money for Office, you should have received a disc and COA with Microsoft Office product key. Please refer to your invoice to see if you purchased Office with your computer.  Please click the white KUDOS star to show your appreciation

Microsoft support cannot help (tried already).I do NOT see a Microsoft sticker on the back of the computer.

Hi regulatorFix, welcome to the community,

The product license key would have been in the box or alternatively did you perhaps create a microsoft account in which case the key will be stored and retrievable through your microsoft account.
