Lenovo PM Device vs. Lenovo Power Manager

Q: Lenovo PM Device vs. Lenovo Power Manager

I was looking in my Device Manager the other day, when I noticed something odd: there were two devices related to Lenovo Power Management. I looked at the properties of both of them and this is what I found: The first one, "Lenovo PM Driver", is the one that shows up for download on the support page for the Lenovo T430 as it matches the version number. I have no idea what the second one "Lenovo Power Manager" is, at nothing with its version number appears on the website at all. Does anyone know what the second one is and if should it be there?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I do not know if it SHOULD be there or not BUT I show the same 2 drivers with the same 2 version numbers on my X1Y3. By the way Lenovo Power Manager was installed by windows 10 Update not through Lenovo Vantage for me. Looking at windows drivers update on my laptop I traced it to the below link.

The latest driver and dependency software DOES NOT WORK correctly.   I can manage battery 1 or the internal battery, but I cannot manage battery 2. Once I get the driver installed.   I change the following in the registry.ChargeStartControl                            35 (decimal)ChargeStartPercentage                     35 (decimal)ChargeStopControl                           100 (decimal)ChargeStopPercentage                    100 (decimal) The changes made here ONLY EFFECT battery 1, battery 2 will not charge above 85%. Now after intalling the Lenovo Settings tile and looking in the power area,  it shows that battery 1 is set correctly.  Battery 2 is set to start changing at 101% and stop charging at 150%!!!!   I cannot find these numbers in the registry. Better question is why doesnt lenovo settings have a hook to make adjustments to battery management!!! Frustrated!!!    This works find in windows 7, windows 8 Lenovo drop the ball.

As By default, There is no Lenovo Power Manager in Windows 10 in Lenovo G50-70. So I was searching through Web and found this Support Website https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/ht103535  and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Windows-10/Power-Manager-for-Windows-10/td-p/2113645/page/3 which States that Laptop Running Windows 10 (G50-70) Support Dual Mode Battery Firmware. So, Is this Information Right and we should not worry regarding Battery Charging just like we used to Threshold Charging in Windows 8.1 via LENOVO POWER MANAGER. I want clarification over this.

Hello,

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 100S. My keyboard recently stopped working and when I went into device manager my folder, along with the drivers, for my keyboard was gone. I did a search for changes to hardware, restarted my computer, downloaded the keyboard driver for Lenovo and none of this worked. I've now done a full factory reset of my computer yet the keyboard folder is still gone and I cannot find a way to get it back or to get my computer to recognize any keyboard drivers.

Any assistance is very appreciated.
Thank you!

A:Lenovo IdeaPad 100S: Keyboard folder gone in Device manager

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.  Since Windows will not detect the installed keyboard it is quite possible the internal keyboard has failed or the keyboard cable has become disconnected inside and needs to be reseated.  To rule out a hardware conflict, try a static discharge to see if that resolves the problem first.

To do a static discharge, try this.....
1. Shut down Windows and unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 3. Plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If the discharge didn't work, here is the U.S. most Best Buy stores are also Lenovo Authorized Service Centers.  I would suggest bringing in your laptop to them for further inspection, especially if your warranty is still active.

A:Lenovo G510 windows 8 cd/dvd not detected & also not shown in device manager

Hi Amitkd44,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Try to check first if the DVD drive show up in the BIOS (FN + F2 on restart or from off status using the Novo button).
This would allow you if the physical dvd device is mechanically detected by the motherboard and is not related to any drivers or Operating System.

Initial tab should show the same drive listed along with the harddrive within the BIOS screen.
If so, then reseating the drive (removing and placing it back making sure contact points are secured.
Here is the hardware manual that can help as a guide.

Update us soon as convenient.

I have a two week old Lenovo X1 Carbon 20A7 and from the beginning after simply got Windows7 initial setup with nothing else on, I noted that if I left it to go in sleep or Hibernate, when the lid was closed, upon opening it again, the notebook screen was black although the adaptive keyboard was active and the machine was pingable from the network. No matter what I did I could not get the unit to come back to life so I always had to press the power button until it power cycled to get it back. I noted that I was not alone out there and some reported the issue on earlier X1's Support suggested to send it back and were not helping much. They decided it is either hardware or configuration issue, and in both cases it required a return.  Because the issue was reported in the forums on earlier X1's I decided that it was probably software and I started by disabling all sleep modes only to find out it would still go to sleep. This is how I found out that if the sleep mode was disabled in Power Manager, it would automatically enable in Windows version of the power manager. Disable it in Windows and it would enable in Power manager... yeah - exactly; I had the same reaction.. Same thing with other power functions. So I de-installed Power Manager 6 and bingo, no more issues. But now I get non critical warnings  in Lenovo tools that I have no power manager software installed. Plus I don't get the extra features that are useful in PM6. ... Read more

4.  Open the lid
5.  Screen stays black?

A:Lenovo G580 Bletooth not listed in Device Manager after Windows 10 Upgrade

Dear nedret,

Welcome in lenovo community,

Based on official list of Lenovo systems supported for Windows 10, the G580 is not listed which means most things may work, but we may not have drivers and support for all features and will be limited in our ability to provide Windows 10 support.

In many cases, the Windows 8/8.1 drivers will work.

Also try to Run windows update, sometimes it helps,

Click Start Menu >> Settings >> Update and Security >> Windows Update >> Check for Updates >> Install Updates.

If it does not help, My advice to you, is to go back to the previous windows (Before windows 10 Upgrade) to have all the functions of the laptop working.

Regards,
Joseph

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi, The problem I have with my Lenovo Y700 can be described by the following scenarios:1. After the PC being turned off for at least 10-15 minutes, I turn it on (AC adapter is plugged in), then I get either:a) a BSOD with  Bugcheck code: 0x113 (0x19, 0x2, 0x10DE, 0x139B) and error VIDEO_DXGKRNL_FATAL_ERROR,b) a wrong NVIDIA graphics card detected, forming a second entry in device manager with different instance ID (the SUBSYS part is set to all zeroes) - Windows installs some old driver for itc) the right NVIDIA device detected, but without directx 12 properly enabled (when I run dxdiag, the supported version of directx is set to 11.4, not 12)After a restart everything goes back to normal - the right card, the right driver, the right directx (sometimes I need another restart because when correct card is detected, drivers are sometimes reinstalled). This lasts until I shut the PC down for another more than about 10 minutes - after that, everything starts again.2. If I turn the PC on and boot on battery and plug in my AC adapter only after Windows 10 loads, everything is fine from the get-go. I tried many things, like:- recovering the OS from base image- installing latest drivers (as well as using DDU)- installing only drivers from Lenovo support page- updating BIOS- changing BIOS settings (e.g. disabling fast startup, changing boot mode to legacy etc.)- taking out my second SSD (a PM961) connected to M.2 port - this seemed to soften the ... Hi, I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 510-15IKB that has developed some issues.  I took it apart to replace a faulty fan module, and put it back together and started having issues with video to the display not working.  Took it apart again to reseat all cables and look at the display cable and its connection to the mainboard.  All looked fine... and the notebook started fine and I had the display working again.  Then after a power recycle lost the display again, so took the notebook apart again, and found that if I removed the main power to the mainboard and reconnected it I could get the display to come back, but only until I recycled the power to the computer again, then it was gone.  Decided to just live with the notebook display not working and just use an external display via the HDMI connector, which worked fine for a few days... then the notebook just shut off.  Now it will not power back up... the AC adapter is good, verified via multimeter, I have tired to power up the notebook with the battery disconnected, no-go, with it connected, no-go, I do not get a charge or power indicator at all anymore.  I think the notebook should power up with the internal battery disconnected, yes?  It does not.  I looked in the Lenovo maintenance manual, and these symptoms point to a bad mainboard.  I can't believe that it could be bad on such a new notebook.  The fan going bad after less than a year I can live with, but loosing the main... Hi everyone; this is my first post here. I purchased a T450 (Core i7/Nvidia Graphics/SSD) last September here in Korea and upgraded to Windows 10 shortly thereafter. For the last few months (not exactly sure when it started, but I think months after I upgraded) I've had 2 system problems that may be related. #1: In my Windows power settings the computer is set to NEVER sleep when the computer is plugged in, yet sometimes (and I'm never sure when) it goes to sleep after only one minute of inactivity.  I thought maybe it happened only when the battery was charging, but this is not the case.  Resetting seems to fix the problem. #2: When I attempt to open Lenovo Power Manager 8 the application crashes and can't open.  I need to use the task manager to end the program. Has anyone else had these problems?  I'd really appreciate some help on this. Regards,Chris

Both batteries 9 cell and 6 cell had full charge, tried my other Lenovo charger... no go. A:Lenovo Ideapad Y410p won't power on... No power light?

Hi jack61 ,

Greetings.

We now know, power drain failed. No LED error codes , No beep codes
No activity lights even with battery charging led.
Not turning on even with known good charged batteries.
No power even with known good ac adapter.

What we can try:
Try plugging it directly on the wall and press novo key (number 1 page 7) to turn it on instead.
Check if the power port shows any signs of burnt / damage / looseness .
Press Novo key using a charged battery.
Remove battery, harddrive , memory and other accessories and plug directly with a known working adapter and or with a charged battery ( it should at least beep).

If all fails , you can have it checked for the motherboard issue with a technician (checking on the internals /cleaning or reseating parts connected to the board / applying thermal paste (for processor isolation) / checking on dc in board and port).

You can check for your warranty here and call in tech support for service.

Regards

XP Media Center sp3 Gateway
(with replaced Geforce 6100-M9 mb 410 chipset)
2 gig ram AMD 64x2 2000+ processor
4 USB ports on back, 2 USB ports on front

Ok, ever try so much to fix something that you are thinking about taking it to the back yard, pouring gas on it and lighting it on fire.. well I'm there. Help please. (I feel like I've tried everything to fix this glich)

USB ports have power but not recognized by the computer.
No error (it doesn't even regonize them enough to give me that)
No problems listed under Device Manager states they are functioning properly
Device manager lists pci to Usb something, one more thing like that and two root hubs
(shouldn't there be more there? there use to be like 10 items under that catigory I thought)

Ok here's what I've tried not necessarly in this order (and rebooted each time with no success)
1) unplugged the power left for 30 min replugged back in and booted up
2) reinstalled MB drivers. nforce 15.24 WHQL (that was most recent I could find)
3) reinstalled sp3.. tried sp1a but had error newer was there.. tried sp2 and same thing.
4) checked BIOS enabled USB 1.0+2.0 (it was already enabled, disabled it, restarted enabled it again)
5) Enabled everything with USB in the name in BIOS..
6) reset BIOS to factory defaults
7) Tried to uninstall sp3 but its on my windos disk.. and spuninstal.exe (or what ever the right name to unstall it was is not there)
8) reinstalled windows (recovery) and all drivers... Read more

I purchased a Lenovo 110S a week ago. I?ve found that I have issues turning it on sometimes whereby the power indicator flashes a few seconds but the laptop doesn?t power on. This happens with enough battery power, for example it?s happened when I have had 50% battery power remaining. I plug the laptop into mains AC power and it will then power on.  But im stumped as to why this doesn?t happen all the time. If anyone can offer help it would be appreciated! PS: my battery is a concealed one ie; in the laptop casing with a cover that?s screwed on.

Is there any read me files concerning the Lenovo Driver Download Manager, because I can't figure out what it does or how to use it. I'm cleaning shop and I'm looking hard at the lenovo software in particular, seeing that the drivers & support site is a very large piece of lenovo's software and it stinks, I'm assuming some of the lenovo software install on my Y570 must be just as good and a potential source of hardware problems.

A:Lenovo Driver Download Manager

If you're an average user, you use lenovo download mager but if you do know your way bout computer(which you seem to do) then you shouldn't use it as you are supposed to know your way about drivers and modding as you've mentioned between the lines that you do. A weird question from you tbh.

In Windows 10 the conservation mode (threshold) feature is now included with the Lenovo Settings app.  If it is not installed then it is available in the Windows Store.

I just purchased a Lenovo Ideacenter 330K desktop and I have run into a problem with the audio manager.

The system is using a standard Realtek Audio chipset and it has front and real audio jacks but the problem I keep running into is that unlike other realtek control panels, the Lenovo doesn't allow me to split the front and rear audio jacks.

The only advanced option that it gives me is to disable detection of the front jack.

There is no reason for this functionality to even exist. Realtek allows to split the two devices with it's audio manager but I can't find the files I need to remove and I have already tried to update the files which is supposed to uninstall the old driver package and install the new drivers but the audio manager is untouched.

Any help would be appreciated.

A:How do I remove Lenovo HD Audio Manager?

Generally, the vendor supplied drivers are the best to use as each vendor customizes the software to how they implement the hardware. If you use non-Lenovo drivers there is a possibility that everything will not work correctly with the RealTek - this isn't with every vendor but most.
