OEM 7 Pro Refurbished activation after fresh install of OS

Q: OEM 7 Pro Refurbished activation after fresh install of OS

A refurbished laptop with a valid copy of Win 7 Pro randomly locked up. I installed Win 7, from disk, but did not copy the activation code. Now I cannot reactivate it.

It has a COA on back, but this includes a number that is will not activate the laptop.
I can't even enter it in, since it starts with "00212"

Originally, it was sold with Vista, and has a Vista activation key in the battery compartment. This does not work.

thanks in advance for any assistance.

Preferred Solution: OEM 7 Pro Refurbished activation after fresh install of OS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My father has a Toshiba NB200 notebook running Windows XP (which is no longer supported) and after having malware problems he asked me if I could upgrade it to Windows 7 for him. As it has no optical drive I downloaded a Microsoft iso file and created a bootable USB drive.

I have successfully installed Windows 7 Home Premium and done all the Windows updates. When asked to activate I tried the code on the label that was supplied on the notebook with the original Windows XP - it didn't work. So I phoned Microsoft to buy a genuine key but they said they can't help me as they no longer sell Windows 7 (only Windows 8 now). I know my dads Toshiba will not run Windows 8 and that even if it did my father (83) would never get his head around how it works.

So I tried a code that I had from and old dead laptop and it has changed the Product ID and still will not activate. Now I'm not sure if I buy a genuine key whether it will work with the changed Product ID (which
is an OEM for an Acer laptop).

Can I change the Product ID or will a genuine licence code work with it as it is?

Where would be the best place to buy a product key (don't need to buy the discs as they can't be used on his notebook)? I've had a look online but can't tell who is genuine and who are dodgy.

Any help would be appreciated.

I built my gaming PC about a year or two ago, since then it's been my main computer, not just a gaming PC, and has gotten filled with useless junk I no longer need. The GPU has also started to crash quite a bit recently (ever since I installed the new driver).

So I plan to do a fresh install, the problem is, the product key for my Windows 7 Home Premium x64 disk has been used the max amount of times (all product keys have 3 uses (apparently), I used this one on my gaming PC, the new family PC, and then on my Macbook Pro (however, I ended up having to reinstall it to my Macbook as I was messing around with rEFIt trying to get Linux on there alongside OS X and Windows 7 and bricked the thing (luckilly there's that recovery hard drive on there, so I can still use OS X))).

Anyways; is there any way to do a fresh install with this disk despite they key being completely used up?

A:Activation key out of uses, need to do fresh install of Windows

Hello Zukaro,

Is this a family pack copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, or just a normal retail full Windows 7 Home Premium copy?

Will it still only be installed on a total of only 3 computers and no other?

Hello, first, heres what I am running:

Hardware: Acer Aspire One A0751h
OS: Windows XP SP3
Drivers: went to Acer's website to download all drivers (ie. Chipset, Video, Audio, LAN, WLAN, BlueTooth...)

Heres what happened, the Netbook came with Windows XP SP3 Home Edition installed, I wanted to see how Win7 would act on it, sadly it was a bit laggy in some areas for my liking compared to XP (keep in mind its only an Intel Atom 1.33GHz) mainly I think because Win7 is much more animated.

So I didn't have any original software for the XP so I had to search the internet to find an ISO, found one and installed it onto a CD and then my Netbook.

Now comes the time for activation, my original Key is about 95% visible but I'm positive on all but 1 character. I contacted Acer Support and they say that the key has to match the software. But the ISO I downloaded obviously is not going to come with the activation key I need... so, what can I do besides crack it, I really don't want to, to get XP Genuine again without having to buy another XP Disc and reinstall XP??

Appreciate the assistance...

A:[SOLVED] Activation Key - Fresh XP Install

First, you need to make sure your XP CD is legitimate to begin with. Saying you downloaded it off the internet sounds likely it's pirated.

On your other subject - activation. If you have the key and may not be able to read one or two characters, contact MS by phone. My experience with MS Activation team is rather good.

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8, and I no longer have the key for 7. From Windows 8.1 I upgraded to 10. Recently got an SSD, wanted to do a fresh install on it. Used media creation tool to make a USB copy. Booted from USB, formatted old hard drive, and loaded Windows onto new SSD. I picked activate later as the product ID i wrote down did not seem to work; and assumed it would auto activate.

Well, now Windows is not activating, and I still cannot enter the Product ID, I assumed that would be the "key".

Is there anything I can do at this point? Or am I just screwed and have to buy a Windows 10 license?

...I knew I should have just cloned.

Hi,

I have a Dell mini that needed a fresh installation. Installing from the factory restore partition did not solve the inability to run updates.

So I have a Win7 installation disk and I used it to wipe the disk and install Win7 Starter again. I had pulled the product key from the previous installation that was fresh from the restore partition.

And activation failed with code 0xC004E003.

It looks like there is no more phone in. So I ran the WGA tool and here is its output. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hello,

I am trying to fix a computer for a friend that was dug out of storage and the password forgotten.  After I couldn't reset the password or otherwise gain access to it, I decided to reformat and install the OS fresh.  Upon installation, the product key on the side of the computer is invalid.  There are two CoAs on the computer, one, seemingly the original, that is marked DO NOT USE, and another that is marked refurbished.  I tried the serial on the refurbished sticker first, but neither one works.

I read somehwere in the endless sea of nonsense about such an issue, and one theory was stated as Microsoft 'negated' the refurbished product keys for some reason or another.  The thread was so old that the link provided as proof didn't work anymore.

Anyone have any idea what's going on here?  I believe I may have bricked this apparatus.

Hello, and Welcome

You need to activate by phone. If that does not work you can call this number (U.S. only) and keep trying until you get a live person. Explain the problem and the two COA stickers.

Hi. I have installed a whole new windows 7 pro x64. My new mobo an ASus p5e3 pro along with new ram pc12800 gskill 2x2 ddr3 (running in 1066mhz due to my q6600)

Everythingi s running perfectly...except some random BSOD. 4 total this week.

I have posted a pack of dump file in here, the last 4 ones are the ones that represent the 4 BSOD I had and that I cannot explain.

the others ones are for various reasons, crashes who happenned during installation but that I was able to resolve.

What is weird is that my BSOD only happenned when I was surfing explorer on when the CPU was idle at night, with utorrent running.
today mc pc got BSOD at 11:54 AM after 1 night or running perfectly. it is open since then and running perfectly again.

All the afternoon for 4 hours it loaded utorrent, I cam back from the university and started to play empire total war and lot of MW2 multiplayer.

Everything is working perfectly, no BSOD !! But I'm afraid to leave my pc open this night...when the BSOD happen I usually have to reboot manually because if it reboot by itself it lead to a DOS screen saying to select a boot device.
Help me someone... I cannot believe me G-skill memory are faulty, otherwise they would have failed in-game.

I suspect nvidia drivers 195.62 can be responsible for thoses bluescreen. The power management tool is not working properly and whatever the option I choose in the nvidia panel it will sometimes lower my frequencies and sometimes it will keep the stock one.

My music computer started having problems with Windows 98 locking up at irregular intervals, and after a while the thing simply wouldn't boot up all the time. The lockups had been getting worse, so naturally I thought I had been vicitimized by some spyware/adware/virus infection and took measures. After countless hours, I finally gave up and bought a new hard drive, installed it, and put on a fresh copy of Windows 98 SE from my recovery CD.

It worked fine - for a while.

Now the computer is exhibiting the same symptoms with the new drive as it did with the old drive. I tried running the Seagate SeaTools to see if I could find any abmormalities and it checked out fine. What is odd is that the computer locks up at no particular place, with no particular interval of time. Quite often I can't even get it past the Windows splash screen.

My uneducated opinion is that this has to be a hardware issue, and I'm feeling frustrated by my inability to isolate the problem. If anyone can make suggestions as how I should proceed, I would be very grateful, indeed.

Windows 7.0 was preinstalled on my Gateway desktop and did not come with any backup disks. I purchased and successfully downloaded/activated Windows 7.0 Ultimate. A year later my system became unstable and was advised to reinstall the Windows. In so doing, Windows was over-written and wiped out the desktop and other installed programs.

At this point I have re-installed all of these programs and was then alerted by Microsoft that I needed to activate Windows. The activation failed - "The Software Licensing Service determined that this specified product key can only be used for upgrading, not a clean installation".

I have checked the tower, as well the original shipping box for a label containing the product key for the initial Windows 7.0 without success.

Is there any way around now purchasing Windows 7.0 OS?
Assuming that this is what I must do . . . is there any way to download & install the 7.0 OS without having to rebuild/reinstall all of my additional programs?

Microsoft has informed me that I must successfully activate the OS within the next 8 days . . . HELP.

Hi there all.  I just purchased a refurbished T440s from BestBuy.  It was shipped from one their resselers.  It has the following specs: T440s - 14"Intel i5-4300U CPU1920X1080 Touchscreen250GB SSD8GB DDR3 It came with Windows 10, which I had to go thru and install it myself.  I was a desktop user before and didn't have any experience with notebooks before.  But I did realized it didn't have any of Lenovos utilities on it.  That seemed odd to me.  So I went to Lenovo support.  I was very impressed.  The serial number was detected and 5 downloads were offered as "the most popular" downloads for this model.  So I went ahead and installed the following utilities: - Lenovo's system update for Windows 10- Connect2- Lenovos Power Management Driver for Windows 10- Lenovos System Interface Foundation for Windows 10 So far, so good.  Everything seems to work well.  I have the follwoing questions: 1.  Did I miss anything?  Are there any more utilities that I should be installing? 2.  What is Expresscache Utility.  This computer has only one 250 GB SSD.  Do I need to install the Expresscache utility?  My understanding of it is that Expresscache speeds up reading and writing to HDDs by using cache on SSD.  I don't have an HDD on it.  However, I do use a large external USB HDD.  So would Expresscache help speed up read/write to the external USB HDD? Th... Most Thinkpads coming back on the market as refurbished units have Windows 10 installed.  This is even for models as early as the T400/T500 when the original operating system was Windows 7. This is somewhat annoying since I have devices for which drivers are available only for Windows 7 and earlier. I would prefer not to have to re-purchase "upgraded" devices - at least until the EOL of Windows 7. What are my option(s) to get Windows 7 on such a system? i) Would the Restore and Recovery discs for the original Windows 7 install still be available from Lenovo? ii) Would it be better to find a generic Windows 7 installation disc (with COA and Product Key), install this, then get the drivers for the specific Thinkpad from the Lenovo web site? iii) Could downgrade rights to Windows 7 Pro be exercised with a refurbished Thinkpad running Windows 10 Pro? Thanks! P.S. How about the more recent Thinkpads which were originally with Windows 7 Pro via downgrade rights from Windows 8/8.1/10?

It went through the install fine, then it said it needed to restart to complete and when it restarted it gave me the black screen of death. It sat there for over 30 minutes then the screen turned to a yellowish orange.

So I formatted the ssd, reinstalled fresh again. Same thing.

I then tried the 240gb thinking maybe I had a bad ssd. Same thing.

Then I tried an old 500gb Seagate that I knew worked but I formatted it and installed. Same thing.

So back to the 60gb I went, formatted, reinstalled 8.1 then it did the black screen again. So I tried booting over a couple times till it gave me the option to start in safe mode with networking. It started in a black screen with the blue windows logo... and stayed there for an hour.

I then tried the command prompt methods of BOOTREC/FIXMBR, BOOTREC/FIXBOOT, BOOTREC/REBUILDBCD and restarted with same black screen. *after the rebuildbcd, it said copies of windows = 0???*

So I tried to start using the install CD as a recovery drive, it brought up the option to install windows....

I'm not sure how I can get dumps or test st... Read more

Hi MitchellTyner,

First, I looked up your motherboard and it does not formally support any OS beyond Windows 7 so that could be an issue right off the bat; however, if you are running the latest BIOS, you could try and set your BIOS to default values and try that clean install without the 7870 first. Then, if it works, you could try installing the 7870 thereafter. BTW, good luck in finding all the correct drivers for your older hardware as well.

I have been working on for 2 days to completely clean my laptop free of bugs and slow performance. I have NO Windows XP disk, I have everything backed up and have run the winnt32 process successfully. When I started this I had 6GB of free space on my HD. First off, Im not sure where the 45GB is being used at? When i add the pcitures and stuff it comes to like 10gb.

Anyways. I have followed various boot.ini dialogs on the web and deleted the old Windows Folder(most of it) and still had 6gb of 'free space on HDD" so, I did it again, runing WINNt32 from the i 386 folder, with similar results.

I installed drivers and tried to start fresh, but then ran into a hiccup installing devices and ran system restore to negate the installatioin of devices. After the SYs restore, I only have 2.5 GB of free space, and i cannot hardly run a computer on that much free space.

Please advise on how to proceed, if there are any direct ideas on how to truly free up this space. and have a smooth operating machine again.

I have no re-install disk with this machine, so I am using what i have. I have backed up Drivers on external HDD.
Thanks in advance for the help or links to a guide. I want to start fresh!

Hi:
I purchased the DELL refurbished PC/XP professional with SP3 the other day because I still love to use XP once awhile, although I have two other PCs with Win 7, respectively.

The problem is that I can NOT install Word 2000, ....

Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

In my guess, there is NO MS word pre-loaded on this, refurbished DELL pc.
There is no platform to install MS Word 2000?
All of the PCs are already pre-installed MS 2010 or 2007 upon installation.

If that's causing the problem, how to make the installation proceed?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hello guys,

I need help for my new build.

from a fresh install of windows 10 i try to install the drver for my IGPU Intel HD 530. each time i do that i get a BSOD with this message:

VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE igdkmd64.sys
Or sometimes it's
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXEPTION_NOT_HANDELED igdkmd64.sys

i've tried drivers from motherboard manufacturer CD, website and intel and some autodetect driver software .
i always get the same behavior:

the screen start blinking several time ( black screen) before showing the BSOD then reboot and repeat it self.
even the driver downloaded by windows update have the same impact.
i've managed to install it in safe mode but when i restart in normal mode i get the same behavior.
i've tried 2 different monitors, VGA and HDMI , tried with UEFI on/off => same result.
i've tweaked onece the tdr delay to 8 second, but didnt work.

i really need some help here, i'm desperate!

A:Unable to install Intel HD graphics driver on a fresh install of WIN10

The most likely suspect is a bad video chip.

Now it could be a power related problem too, or heat, but if you have used good parts and a cool case and have tried multiple versions of the driver then it starts looking like hardware failure is likely.

Who makes your 550W power supply?

Double check all of your connections.
And you could go into the UEFI/BIOS and reset all defaults - don't do any tweaking until this problem is resolved.
Is that board running the most recent version of the BIOS?

I had a run-in with MS Office 2007 that ended up (my bad I'm sure) necessitating a repair install of Windows 7 (64 bit) after a complete uninstall of Office. The Windows repair went well with the exception of a couple of drivers; easily adjusted.

Then I did a clean install of Office 2007. It sort of went well. Except that every time I try to do something with it (like accessing Visual Basic to put my macros back in), it's telling me - incessantly - that files don't have sufficient permission blah, blah. Well, I'm setting the permissions but it's over and over and feels like every file in "Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Microsoft Shared/..." needs permission attention.

Is there ANY way to avoid doing this over and over and over and...? And could I have avoided this by setting something different in one of the installs?

Sigh.

Thanks as always for the help.

I have no idea what is going on. Whenever I try to install all of the Windows updates it blue screens. Then it will reboot, try to apply the updates, and blue screen again. I've run Linux Server 12.04 on this machine just fine, so I'm fairly certain it's not a hardware issue. Also, this build is brand new (built it a few weeks ago)

Thanks for your time!

Things I've Tried:
- Reinstalling Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
- GPU, CPU, and RAM stress tests (all showed no signs of error)
- Unplugging extraneous HD's
- sfc.exe /scannow (no errors)

EDIT:
The main error code seems to be 0x101
Just got a new one that is 0xFC

SOLUTION EDIT:
I disabled core unlocking and everything is magically working. I suspect I had a faulty core unlocked. Still doesn't explain the stress tests passing, but whatever.

HI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.

A:monitor drivers unable to install on fresh windows 2000 install

Are you really referring to the monitor drivers or the Dispay Adapter drivers? The symptoms you describe sound like the latter issue.

Monitor drivers are no big deal to install, and even if you don't, Windows should use compatible plug and play drivers. Still it's a good idea to install them -- but you get them from the Monitor vendor site. You get the Display Adapter drivers from the Display Adaptor vendor's site.

What Display Adapter model do you have? And are they properly installed?

To install a Monitor driver, you download and unzip the .inf file from the Vendor. Then you select "update driver" and browse to the location of the file you unzipped. Once installed your Monitor should be recognized by model number.

I've been extremely frustrated with both the screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues.  I figured before I buy a laptop from another company that I would at least try a reformat. I was expecting devices to not be fully installed after the reformat but Device Manager does not show any issues.  PC is also running fine besides the fact that the trackpad doesn't right click properly and the resolution is off which probably can be addressed by installing the proper drivers.  What else should I install, though?

A:Yoga 2 Pro - fresh install of Windows 10 - what should we install from Lenovo's download page?

Download/install Lenovo System Interface Foundation for Windows 10 (32-bit, 64-bit)...IdeaPad.... That should install, among other things, Lenovo Vantage (ex-Companion.) Use its System Update function to find drivers/updates, download and install them on your system. You don't have to install everything but if you have "screen flickering and crashing during sleep issues" then I'd make sure to at least get the latest chipset, display, video, power management, etc. drivers.

P.S. If you suspect that particular driver(s) may be causing issues, then install them one at a time to identify which one(s) are bad.

I have a Latitude E6420 running Windows 7. I installed a larger hard drive today and put the original (working) drive in an external USB enclosure. I wanted a clean install of Windows 7 on the new drive so rather than use a drive migration utility I used the Dell Operating System Reinstallation DVD. When it was done I discovered that it didn't install any drivers. The network drivers aren't installed, so I can't download the drivers from the internet, and I don't have the Dell Driver Reinstallation CD.
1) Is there a way to use the Recovery Partition on the old drive (now in the external enclosure) to do a factory fresh install on the new drive?
or (maybe even better)
2) Is there somewhere I can download an .iso file for the second E6420 recovery disk (containing Drivers/Factory-installed Apps?)
or (least desirable)
3) What drivers would I need to download (on another computer) and manually transfer/install to the E6420 via an external USB drive so I can connect over Wifi to download the rest of the drivers directly onto the E6420?
Thanks for your help!

A:Latitude E6420 easiest driver install method after fresh Win 7 install on new hard drive?

Dear jedijunk, Recovery option works only when old hdd it is in laptop. You do not have readily available .iso file with factory installed drivers. Drivers for Latitude E6420 available in dell support site, download them in another computer, then copy to new hdd, then perform installation.
But the easiest & simple method is to fix the old hdd in laptop, use Hiren Boot CD or any other Disk Image Utility, copy the C:\ drive (of old hdd) disk image in another partition of old hdd, then remove old hdd & fix new hdd in laptop, use restore the disk image to new hdd. Hope this info helps you.

This isn't a brand new build, I've been building and upgrading my PC for a long time and this specific build has been 100% stable for half a year. SOLVED: USB ports not working after mobo driver install (fresh xp install)

Hello all, long time browser first poster...

Anyways, I had to do a fresh install of XP after some nasty spyware/keloggers found their way onto my system.

Everything works fine until after i install the motherboard drivers.
motherboard: EVGA nforce 680i SLI

after the PC reboots I am still able to access the BIOS screen wth the keyboard, and my mouse lights are on. As soon as windows XP (home) loads, the lights on my mouse turn off, and both the keyboard and mouse become unresponsive.

I have tried several things. First, i verified that USB support was enabled in the BIOS. I then tried another fresh install (easy beacuse i partitioned 12g just for the install, so i could just re-format if anything like this ever happened) and installed the current drivers for the mouse and keyboard first (logitech g5 laser mouse and g15 keyboard). Then i installed the mobo drivers..... same results.

I tried the other way around as well, but to no avail. I am completely stumped as to why the darn drivers that came with the mobo won't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve

EDIT: the old-school (ps/2, ps/3?) keyboard/mouse ports aren't working either

A:USB ports not working after mobo driver install (fresh xp install)

Is the reason the keyboard and mouse are not working is because they are USB?

Were the chipset drivers installed from a disk that came with the motherboard, or from downloads...
When you to to Device Drivers withing Hardware in System on the Control panel, do you see yellow or red flags by the long USB set or any other drivers on the list?
We assume your system worked OK until this re-install of Windows?
Are you sure you have the partitions configured properly so that the drives are being installed to the main partition rather than the other partition... and how do you know?
We suspect the problem has to do with those partitions and they way you have set them up.

A:Unable to install updates on fresh Windows 7 SP1 install

I'm guessing that your installation media already contained SP1, is that correct? Since this is a clean install my first thought is something happened during the installation process to damage or corrupt some system files. I'd try the Microsoft troubleshooter first.

Troubleshoot problems with installing updates - WindowsUpdate_dt000

If that doesn't work I'd try running the System Update Readiness Tool.

What is the System Update Readiness Tool?

If still no joy, and only because this is a very recent clean install, I'd just reinstall Windows 7 again. If the problem persists I'd start looking into the possibility of a bad installation disk, hardware issues, etc. Please post back if any of this helps or not.

I'm using HP pavilion DV7-1195nr, 4gig, 9600m gt 1gig. I had Vista 64bit Prem. that ran just fine, and I did the Win 7 Prem. upgrade. It seems to run smooth until I started getting bsod. I decided to do a full install of Win 7 Prem from my upgrade disc. I booted to the cd, formatted my drive partitions, it created a 100mb partition.
I did the double install way to make the activation work.
Ok, the first install I did not update the firmware. and got all kind of bsod etc problems. Main culprit then was the wifi card driver.
I flashed my bios, got all my updated drivers for everything and did another fresh install which is where I'm today. I might not have installed my chip set driver first is only one point I want to point out.
So, I only have MS Security Essentials installed simply because I thought I had this thing whiped. Went to shut down and it will not shut down and will hit a BSOD and reboot. It continues to do this for some reason. It will reboot in safe mode. I also noticed if I remove a driver and try to update it, the system seems to just hang now?
One other note. I realized last night weather or not this is a issue, that I have my NAS running WD Myworldbook that I continuously connect to via WiFi.

This resulted in an error message (unable to configure windows 10 for this hardware or something along that line.

Then when it came to driver installation the problems came.
The computer has no CD drive, so I cant install it from the cds I got with it.
Tried with wired internet connection, nothing. Missing driver
Tried putting the driver for the Ethernet thingy on an usb. Computer did not find the USB drive. Tried all ports on the machine.
Sooo, I basically need to get internet into the computer so I can setup the rest of the drivers.
Tried a wireless WiFi USB stick, but again, the computer does not find the USB's.
BUT it did find my wireless keyboard and mouse assembly? Weird.
Cannot seem to get the computer to recognize a usb memory stick.
Any ideas guys and girls?

Granted, I did install almost all of it, and probably made it a mess (qfan, asusupdater, Volt something something allowing in OS O.C. tweaks, etc). Drivers from them didn't seem to be a problem though. I want to avoid any bloatware which comes along with driver packages sometimes.

I have 1 yellow exclamation in PC properties (USB controller), but that's because everything is running on minimal drivers or no drivers. I did install windows update version of Realtek network card, and ATI display driver, but thats all. I have 3 hdds in the machine, new hdd (ST2000) with win, another new hdd unformatted, and original C: drive (to allow for file transfering, then I will yank it and convert into external for backup). Also have 2 dvd burners. Everything is visible to BIOS and Windows except unformatted ST2000 (will use for applications and data/media). I'm hoping once I do install drivers, however, that this drive will become visible.

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provid... Read more

I am having a very similar problem to this topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/591853/windows-10-browsing-and-apps-not-all-working-like-it-should/?p=3828789 In summary after updates have installed and everything looks good random drivers start installing - Intel Grapics / Network / wifi / device manager has all these new hardware installs when I look back in device manager, a rouge Skype.exe and one drive.exe install by themselves and hyper v modules appear to be added.
However it is occurring on all my hardware and Mac. IPv6 installs by itself and also creates a IPv6 tunnel on my router which I have tried to disable however it keeps reactivating. My ADSL service also looks compromised but my isp insists that I'm not even though I'm on router number 4 - this has been occurring for 3 months- I'm rebuilding every couple of days and it's driving me crazy!!! Plese help!

A:Tips for importing my Windows 7 install to a fresh install?

Windows Easy Transfer
Ill get the link

When I went from Vista to 7, I used it. Tranfer everything to a finger drive and then transfer to the new OS.

Our Acer came with & home pro 64. we did a AU to ultimate64. The laptop is slowing way down and needs a fresh install. Not sure how to do this. Do i use my original BU disks then use my same AU code and redownload or will i need to call microsoft? the Acer also has a 0 partition. so i'm just lost any help would be great.

Thanks!

A:OEM install win7HP64 AU to Ultimate. Need to do fresh install.

I would use the original BU disks. If you have a problem just call MS, it is a very fast and quite simple thing to call them.

Just wondering what everyone rushes to install on a fresh install of Windows. If this type of thread has been done already, sorry feel free to merge.

I tend to format and reinstall so often that I keep all my apps on a USB stick install them all then use File Hippo's update checker to update anything that's been updated since I put the installers on my stick, I also copy the new installers over to my stick for the next time I reinstall.

My first install is Anti-virus, which used to be Avast but i'm now using MS security essentials. I let it update and scan then reboot install any available Windows updates.

Second install is Firefox which is my favorite browser and I use to surf around while windows update is running.

After closing Firefox my third set of installs are plugins: Java, Flash Plugins (IE & non-IE), Shockwave, Adobe Air, and Python.

The rest are:

7-zip: Great utility for handling all kinds of archives (doesn't integrate into the shell well on Windows 7 yet)

Abiword: Light weight word processor. For the most I use this to compose longer blog posts and replies to private messages. It beats launching Open Office.

Audacity: Program for manipulating audio files. Mostly use this to cleanup intro and outro gaps on rips.

Any Video Converter: Pretty simple and easy to use video converter so I can play them on my Zen.

Ccleaner: An awesome temp/internet files cleaner.

Google Chrome: I use this as my secondary browser.

I just bought a 500 GB SSD, and I installed Windows 7 Pro on it. I was going to clone my drive, but the SSD to USB cable I ordered was from China and won't arrive for more than a month (I did not see that when I ordered it). The install took, but it didn't pick the USB ports, wireless, or ethernet up. Normally, I would go to the HP site, download the drivers, and call it a day. This time, however, I simultaneously cannot access the internet, my USB drive, or my micro SD (i.e., I have no way short of buying and burning a DVD to transfer the drivers to the drive).

I tried the generic USB drivers provided with windows, but it still wouldn't read the drive. Is there a generic driver for WIFI, SD, or USB bundled with windows that will work in cases like this? I am a programmer and consider myself to be a modestly advanced user (i.e., registry solutions and system hacks are fine). Thanks in advance.

A:Install drivers on fresh 7 install without USB, SD, wireless, or LAN

Are those USB 3 ports (blue ones)?

Try Linux Mint MATE (if asked for choose TRY and not INSTALL!) or Windows 7 Repair Disk (command prompt) to copy paste to SSD.

OK...here's a good one. I know I'm missing one setting, one trick.

Installed my new SSD yesterday, clean install 7 pro x64.

I have two printers at home, both of which I used flawlessly before this new SSD and fresh install.

I am the administrator of the machine and turn off UAC.
I originally moved the temp and tmp directories to a second hdd, and since moved them back to the ssd. (Read that it that fixed it somewhere)

Both printers are networked.
One is an old trusty HP 4050N connected via LPT to a DLink DP300U print server.
Add it as a local TCP/IP printer, change the queue settings to match the printer settings, and add the HP 4050 driver. I get an error message (That I've researched over and over) I'm attaching it later.

Second is an HP Photosmart Plus (209a) that I have the latest drivers for, and is attached wirelessly. The HP bloatware/software sees it, detects it...but right before it adds it, it stops...with the same error message.

I edited the local security policy to enable the local administrator account status (I was an administrator before this).

Both printers give me the same error message. As said...they worked just fine on the install prior.

Here's the error message:

A:Fresh 7 install (x64) network printer won't install

can you connect the printers directly to the machine and see if they install??

I've been searching for a while most links lead to here. Although I am getting the same error 80070020 I do not have any anti virus installed yet. I literally just finished installing an hour ago and the .net service pack update is the only that keeps failing.

I don't have any .Net framework* in my add/remove programs and like I said I don't have any anti virus programs running yet. I am using a genuine copy of vista (Home Premium 64bit btw) and I am at a loss.

Also, when I select to install it says the progress is at 99%, then it rides, then it fails.

Any help would be appreciated greatly!

OK Windows 7 Ultimate reinstall, have done this numerous times, but this time, a new wrinkle:

Happened with these 3:
WinPatrol
OpenOffice
and a disk imaging tool:

Once install completed, the desktop icon gives access denied, I am on the only acct that I created and it's obviously an admin acct.

I know how to fix it, but why has basically NO PERMISSIONS been setup? [installed these apps before]

I look at the drive in explorer, and three directories are showing LOCKS with the folder symbol.

Is there some services to adjust or disable that is doing this to me?
It's a totally new issue, I have not encountered before, and I have wipe and dropped 7 at least 7 times and set it up from scratch each time same as now.

Only thing of note, maybe, apps being installed to reformatted old SSD.
Using NTFS on all partitions.
Ran chkdsk /f and drive has no issues.

A:Fresh 7 install, go to install applications, 3 out of many, fouled.

No ideas?

Stumped as well still, misbehaving installers, perhaps?

I have UAC, Windows Firewall, and Defender all disabled and did during the installs that fouled up, these are things I don't use.
