my company has been forcing its website as the Home page

Q: my company has been forcing its website as the Home page

I have a certain website selected as my Home page in IE5.

Recently, my company has been forcing its website as the Home page, even though I have it set to another site.

I find nothing in the Registry that sets it to "their" website - how are they doing this?!?

I did notice when IE5 boots up, there is a message something to the effect "downloading <A HREF="http://www.theirwebsite.com"" TARGET=_blank>http://www.theirwebsite.com"</A>

I'd like to be able to disable this so my selected Home page stays there.

Preferred Solution: my company has been forcing its website as the Home page

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

How can I disable users/websites from changing my homepage ?
I have spysweeper and that has a hompage shield but it only works on Admin accounts. I want to "disable the ability" to change the homepage for the limited accounts.

A:How can I prevent a website from changing my Home Page ?

I assume you're using Internet Explorer, its homepage can be locked by editing registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer, if there is no dword value "NoSetHomePage", create it and set to 1.

Or if you want it to affect only you, not all users, then use key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ Restrictions instead.

I downloaded skype from some website that installed another program called optimizer pro onto my computer. Anyway it changed a lot of my settings and now when I open a browser on my firefox it goes to:

....Something Trovi. I had google as my homepage and it does go there but when I open a new blank page it still goes to this website. Is there a way to erase whatever happened to my computer with this download or something? I can't figure out what it did to my Firefox.

Is this spyware? I have malewarebytes and superantispyware and run them and they find stuff on my computer. Is there a way to delete things that are causing this? Also I can't find "Optimizer Pro" on my programs list for my computer, even though windows keeps asking whether I will allow that program to make changes to my computer to which I always click no. Please help me clean my computer.

I hope I've done this right this time....I have been having a problem in accessing the www.mnf-iraq.com website, and had done a few suggested things to try and repair that....to no avail. Instead, it has created additional problems for me. My home page continually changes back to: http://hp-desktop.aol.com/ now. I have found this website for assistance and have posted the logs below that you request. I think that me not being able to access the website has something to do with an issue that I either had to approve or deny, and I probably denied it, as I am able to access the website on my work computer. If anyone can help with my homepage issue, and any other issues you see from the logs below, I'd greatly appreciate it. Hi there

For a couple of weeks I have not been able to access our business website or the hosting company website from our main office. I can access all other websites.

I can ping the website with no loss through a command prompt. Other people can access the website no problem and I can access it fine from my pc at home.

I have checked the hosts file and the address is not blocked.

I have contacted the ISP and the hosting company and they can find nothing wrong, so I am assuming the problem lies with me.

Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?

Many thanks in advance

I am not sure if this is correct forum to post my issue....but here it is:

Currently my company website (fwww.akeweb.com) is registered with company called abc.com. Within abc.com i access the account info and I see that there a setting for fakeweb.com under Web Services that point fakeweb.com to an ip address (assigned to one of statis dsl lines) the ip forwarding is setup with option as "Use Simple DNS" entry.

My company has the main website as www.fakewebinc.com hosted with a different company. The hosting account contains a setting that will redirect from fakeweb.com to fakewebinc.com.

My issue is that when I am at work logged to company domain, I type www.fakeweb.com and I get error message about web site not found. When I go home using my home pc I type www.fakeweb.com and I get redirected to www.fakewebinc.com.

Is this problem related to network issue such as access blocking, ip address issue, or something else?

A:Company Network, Website, and Website Redirection

I have a differnt problem, I click fakewebinc.com and I cannot get there, but I go to fakeweb.com and it works.. hmm..
A few things:
- Make sure you have a dedicated IP
-Once you have found that you do, and what is is, go to domain management and edit the A record to that IP, and you should be good.
I think that is your problem. I am not 100% sure, I could be wrong. Wait for someone else to reply.

I have an interesting problem that has been driving some pretty smart IT guys nuts. To perform my job I have to access a certain venders web pages that has security set up that I do not know all the details of. Anyway on the company PC using the company image that is a normal XP image and maintained by Comp U Com.

Any time I access this vender's web page it works fine until just after the log in screen. Once I put in my user name and password and click Ok IE just goes blank white and that's it. No error msg no nothing, its not locked up as the frame is still there and the world is turning but nothing else.

This happens on all the company PCs accessing this particular vender's web page as I went and checked. So I wanted to see if it the problem was in the PC or the network. I took the company PC home and was able to successfully log into that vender's web page from my cable modem at that house. Worked fine.

I have already added the vender web pages to the trusted zone and enabled all the active X and everything, deleted the cookies, tried some proxies etc. Every setting that can be done on the PC I have tried.

My question is what is the company network security system blocking that IE needs to work and how to resolve?

A:IE blank page problem on company network but works fine off company network

Oh and to add this I loaded FireFox and from the company PC on the company network it logs in fine but FireFox will not display the page correctly and all the buttons do not work right so that is another issue.

Just a question I've been pondering every since I visited a hotel over the summer...

How do you force a first page on a wireless network?

For example, Joe connects to a Hotel wireless network...before he can reach the internet, he is presented with a front page where he must agree to TOS and click to continue...

How can you force the viewing of that first page on a wireless network? I'm not talking about an "in-house" robust network (with a proxy server), but can this be done from the router? Would it be required to set up the router as part of a WAN with a non-local web server?

I've seen it done a dozen times, but I can't figure it out.

Hi Guys,
I have seen similar thread which was posted and resolved already but mine seems to be a bit tricky.
We recently changed our hosting company and after the migration, everything is fine, you can access the website from outside the office network but not working within the network.
I quickly added the DNS entries and everything was fine, the site was accessible within the network. After a few hours, it stopped, we cannot access it again within the network, i checked the DNS entries and all is fine.
My ping replies to the website within the domain is resolving to the IP of the hosting server, trace route is tracing back to the hosting server, nslookup resolving to the IP of the hosting. All the above shows everything is fine but we still can not access the webpage.
Is there anything I'm missing someone can help with please ?

Guys, the history:

Change web hosting provider a couple days to a new provider (externally hosted website).

After the Change occurred I was unable to browse my website from inside my LAN but can do so fine on an external connection. Other websites can be accessed from within my LAN its just my internal.

My Previous website worked fine (with a different provider) I could have browse the website from inside the LAN.

I have also created the A record in my DNS to point to my webserver hosting the website.

I have the same domain name and website url.

Any Advice Guys.......

A:Cannot access company's website on LAN

confirming facts:the website is on your system, inside your LAN.

now you've changed the IPS and the DNS A record for your domain.

The attempt from your browser to access http: // the domain name.com/ now fails.
Testing your local access is done using IP addresses, not domain.names; eg http: // 192.168.x.y/

As you likely have a dynamic connection from your ISP, you need to
1) register a ficticous domain.name with DynDSN.org
2) port forward from your router to the IP address of your server (which must have a static or address reservation in your router)

My Website

I used Mozilla to create my page, and it looked great, but our sister company wanted me to design a more complicated one, so I bought Namo WebEditor 5.5 and tried transfering my existing website onto it, so that I could learn. (I am only half of our tech support crew, and know nearly nothing of html.)

Now, sentences that should be on one line are on two, my buttons have horrible link borders, the html got somehow really scrambled (lots of unneccesary crap...) and I need to get it fixed... today.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the borders first of all, and are there any good links to html script information for idiots online? To think.. last week I was wowing my boss by being the gal who could do it all, and now I screwed up the page.

A:Screwed Up My Company Website!!!

If it's any consolation, I don't see anything obviously wrong with your code (although you would be better to use CSS for your style's instead of the now defunct <font> tag).

For you're "idiots guide" as you put it, HTML Goodies is as good as you'll get (www.htmlgoodies.com). Another excellent resource is Webmonkey (www.webmonkey.com).

Okay now I am kind of intermediate to advanced with computers I can understand a lot of concepts very well but other things not so much. I know about how to do html coding on a lot of levels but not some of the advanced linking concepts and graphical apps. So here's the deal I used Javacup(I think or some other app that does coding for you from a GUI interface) and I didn't like it that much it was actually harder than coding yourself in my experience and wasn't that friendly on placement of things. So I was wondering is it best to just keep going online to different tutorials and books to learn coding with straight up HTML coding or is there better stuff out there that is user friendly to help.

Oh and we are going to host the content locally via FTP with my service provider. I think we get 20 pages but I honestly can't remember how much space I'm alloted. I think it was either 50 or 100 megs or more but I can't remember. The hosting is done through the Service Provider but it's just an option I have never used. We paid a company do to it last time by the y sucked and made countless mistakes and costed a lot of money to do next to nothing. So I want to try to do it in house. Any suggestions are much appreicated, thanks.

you might try the following:

flush the dns cache on the computers that can't see the website (ipconfig /flushdns from command prompt)

Using a company website for our industry (insurance) - in an application that lists scheduled items i.e. jewelry. The website does not have FORWARD and BACK buttons. This application does not support browsing via forward and back button navigation" and IE stops working.

We are on Windows 7/32 bit, IE 9 (10 is not supported by our company websites) - all machines are under 6 Mo old. So, I uploaded a new website on Dec 24th, a week prior to that we installed a new server (Microsoft 2008) and set up a work domain.

Now, none of the computers that have been added to the domain can access the site. I've installed a VPN which allows me to see the site, but no one else can and it's a bit of a pain.

I've flushed the DNS and it didn't help, I just get the error that " The webpage cannot be displayed". I'm using XP SP3 and I've tried viewing the page in IE, Firefox & Chrome, none work.

ipconfig/all says that my Primary DNS suffix is RJSTRADING.com which happens to be the same as my URL address (rjstrading.com), is that what is causing the problems??

This is my first site and I'm pretty new to the whole web design thing so any help at all would be appreciated!

Well I have never really gotten into graphic design that much on the PC so I am probably doing something wrong that is really quite simple. I have been researching web development and have designed a pretty basic HTML site with frames and tables and links. But I want it to look better so a general question on making nice looking headings:

Is it easier to go on google image and just type in what I want and hope I get something close versus using Wordart to create a snazzier heading then the basic word fonts?

I'm trying to make my individual web pages look nice so instead of just doing <font size="+2" face="veranda" color="blue">Associations</font> or the like I'm creating a document in publisher with word art, saving the wordart as a picture to desktop, resizing it to the proportion I want and then putting it in my sub folder of pictures in my larger HTML website folder. Then instead having my heading being words it's an image like<img src="pics\heading.(graphic extension)"> which I think looks nicer.

The problem is that the default transparent image is a gif and it looks like crap for some reason and a jpg or a bmp look much better on their default saves. But.... I want the image transparent and when I use paint to "image select as transparent" to an already existing blocked image it doesn't work for as far as I can tell. So I imagine there is a simple thing I am overlooking and no I do... Read more

A:Company web page does not open through WAN

Is the webpage hosted on the WAN?
Most likely what is happening is that the webserver is set up to serve the page on the external internet ip.
But when you request it from inside the WAN you're accessing it off of the internal wan IP so the server doesnt know what page to give.

Hi there,

I'm an IT Administrator for a large chain of companies, and I had recently purchased four Windows 7 Home Premium FULL disks and installed them onto four new machines. I left the install boxes on the desks for a couple of hours (something I'll never do again, even if I do trust those around), and upon returning noticed one was gone. As it turns out, one of the employees took it home when they got off and installed it onto their home computer. Now she's getting the notifications that her copy is not genuine, as I've already registered that activation code on the original machine.

My question is, can she simply purchase a new Windows 7 Home Premium UPGRADE version (and use that key to activate) from the local retail store, or does she have to purchase the FULL version since she used a full version disk to install?

I won't even entertain following any other methods that include less than EULA friendly methods, especially since the employee never should have took the disks in the first place.

I was at work today and I was in a hurry. I was on a web page which had a complicated link which I needed to remember so I could log onto that site at home. So instead of copying it, I put my USB in and clicked "Save page as" in my web browser thinking that it would save the web page and its link. But it didn't.

I have the web page in front of me but its the saved version and with a web address which is my USB directory (file:///G:/index.cfm.htm... I can navigate away from the page to links on it but I can't submit the online form I needed to submit.

I have tried a keyword search and phoning colleges to find out the site but I have had no success.

How do I find out the actual website of that saved web page

If anyone can help me solve this, I will be forever in your debt.

We have a domain environment with the roughly 300 computers.  Almost all the computers are Windows 7 and we have has the default home page define my GPO for years.

July 2017 we had about 50 Computers change the default  homepage that points to a Microsoft link that redirects to a msn page. The msn page is no longer a valid page.  I cannot find a pattern between the computers,  The policies are
still apply and it just does not reset the default webpage for the user profile.  If you reset the Internet explorer settings everything works as normal and he gets the policy homepage.

I ruled out malware  with multiple tools could find nothing to suggest it had been hijacked.

If I log into a different  user account on the same computer that user account does not have the same problem.  My Theory was a old Microsoft patch some how did this, but I could not find a patch that had ran on the affected PC's.

Dell is my preferred laptop brand, but these shared keys on the arrow keys are unusable.  I don't use desktops, so my laptop is my main workstation and I use these keys very often.
Ever since Dell got rid of the last row of buttons, I had to look for other options.  They claim that it makes the laptop more compact, but there are still ample space on the sides.  Look at the Dell Precision 5520 as an example - wide open spaces.  I liked their older design much better with the shortened right shift button and full-size arrow keys and home, end, pg up/down in the last row.
I now have a HP EliteBook 1040 G3 instead.  It's only 14", but comes with a much better keyboard layout.  That was actually the deciding factor.  It would have been a Dell otherwise.
I know many other people are also feeling the same way, so I hope R&D will address this.  I'll gladly switch back to Dell once they do.

A:Poor keyboard layout lately (Home, End, Page Up, Page Down)

Yeah, this has come up quite a bit, especially on the Precision models where as you say there's space.  I have a Precision 5520 and a Latitude 7480.  Not only does the 7480's keyboard feel better, but it has dedicated PgUp and PgDn keys right in a space where the 5520 has....nothing.  Would have been easy to at least add those.  As for Home and End being shared, my previous system (a Precision M6300) had all of these navigation keys in their proper 3 across, 2 down arrangement in the upper-right corner, which I loved, so using Home/End as shared keys was annoying at first -- but I have to say, after really setting my mind to it, I got comfortable with it after about 2 weeks, and now I don't have any real problem switching between my 7480's keyboard and my Das Keyboard Ultimate, which has a traditional layout.
Anyhow, these complaints came up frequently on NotebookReview in a thread where a Dell Precision product manager is active, so I think there's a chance things will improve with the next refresh. :)

Sorry to start a new thread, but most of the stuff I've read here is older and doesn't seem to apply.

Running Sys 7 and Firefox ver. 26. Yahoo hijacks my home page. I've run a variety of malware programs with no joy. I suspect Yahoo has installed a "hidden" add-on, although I'm not 100% sure of that. I've uninstalled anything that has Yahoo connected to it also Spigot...no joy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Don

Hello dondd,

Do you mean you have another topic covering the same problem?

If so, you should post that you are receiving help here and mark the topic solved otherwise you might end up with conflicting advice.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.
It will produce a log called (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run from.
Please copy and paste log back here.
The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please also paste that into your reply.

Recently, I changed DSL providers from Earthlink to another company. I did this for two reasons: the Earthlink throughput was awful, and their tech support was virtually useless. After numerous attempts to get the speed problems resolved I finally gave up. Upon ordering the new provider's service, I uninstalled Earthlink from my PC. Problem is, no matter what I do, my IE home page is the Earthlink start page. I have used the IE options to change it, it goes right back to Earthlink. I have changed it in the registry, it goes right back to Earthlink. I have checked for spyware/adware, run registry cleaner, you name it. Is my PC going to be forever haunted by Earthlink? I have XP home edition, latest version. Can someone rid me of this troublesome home page?
