Ideapad 300-15ISK - BIOS update on Ideapad

Q: Ideapad 300-15ISK - BIOS update on Ideapad

Hi,
I have Lenovo Ideapad 300-15ISK type/model 80Q700DRSC.
I want to update BIOS, so I downloaded D5CN47WW. In text file it is written that this is BIOS for my computer.
Everything seems fine but when I execute BIOS exe file it says that this is BIOS for Lenovo Paris 300 notebook!
What Paris now? I tried to google but only can find Paris in France.
I am user of Lenovo notebooks for many years (from IBM ThinkPads to this days) but when txt Readme file said
this is update for your computer, it was! This is confusing for me so I cancelled update.
Can anybody explain this mistery?
Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone, I have this Ideapad 700 15ISK for a year and half now. The laptop started giving a random shut down issue 3 months back, after trying every possible solutions from the internet, none of them worked out. Someone suggested me to update the BIOS so I downloaded the BIOS for this model from the Lenovo support page. The update process went all fine from what I saw and the system tried to reboot but it's now stuck at the black screen only, the screen is however turned on but nothing shows up. The Lenovo logo does not appear and I can't access the BIOS settings either... None of the function keys seem to get me to the BIOS settings, even tried the NOVO key but still no luck. I read around that resetting the CMOS battery settings might solve the problem but I'm not sure about this am afraid of damaging the internal parts. Is there any ways I can solve this issue?

Hello, I got this message a few days back when Lenovo Companion said it wanted to perform an important update after I accepted: This BIOS is only for Lenovo Paris 300-14/15/17ISK. Are you sureu you want to perform it?  I checked the bios I have which is D5CN28WWMy machine is the IdeaPad 300 300-15ISK. I do not know if it is the 'Lenovo Paris'. I cannot see that branding anywhere. I checked Lenovo's site and I see there is a critical BIOS update listed for the ideapad 300-14IBR & ideapad 300-15IBR. http://support.lenovo.com/ie/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/300-Series/300-15ibr?tabName=Downloads... There is not one listed for the 300-15ISK.  Does that mean I need to update the BIOS as I have 15ISk which is not listed as needing a critical update. The companion software seems to think I do need it.I do not know what to do.  Updating the BIOS is fairly important thing so I would lik some input from someone at Lenovo before I proceed. Thank-you.

Hello to the community, I hope you're all feeling good!A friend has bought the Lenovo IdeaPad 110 which comes without the OS. Upon trying to install the 64-bit Windows 7 through the USB drive (since the laptop doesn't have a CD drive) I was unpleasantly suprised to see that the BIOS did not list the USB HDD in its legacy. Even more so, the legacy contains only the HDD and Network Boot, as shown in the images below. The mentioned BIOS is InsydeH20 which I didn't have any experience with, until now. I have tried different approaches to solve this problem, uncounted hours wasted scavenging the forums trying to find a solution, but still no luck. Here is a list of things that I've tried: - Creating a bootable USB through the 2.0 port and trying both the 2.0 and the 3.0 port on the IdeaPad 110,- Creating a bootable USB through the 3.0 port and trying both the 2.0 and the 3.0 port,- Unable to find the Secure Boot option (will be shown in the images),- No results in booting with UEFI,- No difference in enabling or disabling the Fast Boot option,- Attempting to load default BIOS settings,- Turning on the laptop and entering BIOS with the USB drive already in its dedicated slot,- Switching the Graphic Device (is this even relevant?).Please note that the Windows 7 ISO file is working correctly and it has been used previously.Nothing works. These attached images will hopefully help you understand the BIOS configuration and options.     Strangely enough, my p... Read more

I have an Ideapad 500-15ISK (80NT00ADUK). In the BIOS I have defined an Administrator password ("XXX"), and a User password ("YYY"). I have also enabled the Power-On password, but NOT the Hard-Disk password. Starting with the computer off, when I press the Power button to switch it on, I receive TWO prompts to enter the BIOS password. I can enter XXX for both, or YYY for both, or XXX for one and YYY for the other. After the second password prompt, Windows 10 boots and displays the Windows logon panel. I think that I should be receiving only ONE password prompt for the BIOS password. The Ideapad 500 was shipped with BIOS version CFCN21WW. I noticed that there was a more recent version on the Lenovo website (CFCN23WW), so I downloaded that and installed it, but it does not fix this problem. As it happens, I also have an Ideapad 700-15ISK (80RU00CPUK). Although the hardware is different, the BIOS settings are almost identical, and I have set it up to be the same as the Ideapad 500. The Ideapad 700 displays ONLY ONE password prompt for the BIOS password. This is how I think that the Ideapad 500 should work.Other settings that I use:-- Secure boot disabled-- Legacy boot enabled-- Boot legacy first Is there a setting that I need to alter to eliminate the duplicated password prompt, or is this a bug in the BIOS software? Thank you. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

the BIOS that was shipped with my 510-15ISK (0XCN35WW) has a bug with hdd passwords... here's how to trigger it and how to work around it: 1) set a password from BIOS on the main harddrive2) power off, remove the DVD unit and install a SSD in that slot3) power back on, go in BIOS -> Security menu... discover that you can no longer set a password for HDDs or even remove/change existing passwords. apparently this situation where the laptop has 2 storage devices installed, one with password protection and one without causes a weird situation for the bios menu where it DISABLES all hdd-password related functions. my guess is that their logic goes something like this:- if hdd password is already set then disable the "set hdd passwords" menu. /endif- if hdd password not set then disable the "change master password" and "change user password" menus. /endif Normally, with a single HDD/SSD device connected, that logic works ok.... but with two storage devices the problem with this logic is that both menus will become disabled if one HDD/SSD has a password defined and the other storage device has no password defined. my work-around solution for this bug is:1) power off the system2) grab a screwdriver and remove temporarily one of the storage devices3) power on the system again and go in BIOS Security setup - define (or remove) the passwords for the device that you intend to configure. Save settings & reboot, press F2 to enter BIOS Setup again and leave i... Read more

So there is no Windows anymore. My HDD encryted with unknown Pssword but I can not redo the installation because I can not boot from anywhere but Grub. From there I can only goto System Setup. It reboots but never enters BIOS. I tried with the recovery button. There was a Menu appearing with the items Normal Boot, Boot Menu, Recovery and something els. Whatever I do, I can not enter BIOS. So what can I do?

How about if you just remove the harddrive (page 40) and then change the boot settings when you turn on the pc using the Novo button? That would give the BIOS set up menu .

Hello and welcome,

I hesitate to suggest this... but you can copy the link to the current BIOS exe and replace the version number with the one you want.  It seems to be there.

My experience is primarily with ThinkPads but it's typical for companion (or system update) offerings to lag what can be manually loaded from the support site.

Less than an hour ago, my computer finished updating (it said it was the April update) and it is now suffering seriously annoying problems. Whenever I have a large program open (ie, Microsoft Edge or WordPad) and I attempt to open a smaller one (Notepad or Calculator), once it's open and I move my mouse from the Task Bar, the smaller program will minimize immediately with no time for the mouse to reach it. So, to select it I have to minimize the other program first. Likewise, if I have two smaller programs open, whichever one the mouse is over is the one that will be selected, and it will happen immediately. My programs all still work fine otherwise, but I can no longer easily switch between projects, and it's infuriatingly tedious. I also an no longer right click to open recent documents or new pages. Is this anything I can do to fix this, please? If not, can this issue be addressed ASAP in another update?

A:How to update BIOS - IdeaPad U165

I do not see any BIOS available for that laptop.  It appears to be an older laptop that has been EOL(End of Life).  Any available drivers will be at the below site.

Hi All, I'm using Fedora linux.  If I can find the current bios upgrade in iso format, I'm fine.  My Thinkpad's upgrade page has a "bios upgrade bootable cd" option.  No such option is available for my Ideapad 320-IKB.  Where is it available for download? Any help appreciated.  Thanks much.
