I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys,

I wanted to ask how can i change this pane to the blue-ish original one.

Yes i apply visual styles, maybe i replaced it and didn't know it.

A:How can i replace this pane with the original

Depends on how you apply those styles. If you use theme resource changer, all you'll have to do is apply a different theme that has the correct folders in place and that panel will change. If you've patched your system manually or with a patcher, the image you've pointed out is in the shell32.dll in the system32 folder, so that will have to be replaced with the original shell32.dll.

All the help I've got time for right now...sorry :-/

Just bought the Ideapad, and am curious about a HDD upgrade to a 7200. Can I change the HDD myself? I haven't been able to find any info on the Lenovo site, forums, or elsewhere. Thanks for any help

A:Can I replace the original HDD in a Ideapad 500-15...

Hi diplomat  ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Recommended harddrive as provided in the FRU list (item 13 page 95) are 5400 rpm .
Similarly newer systems nowadays may be able to use 7200 rpm as integrated technogy is set to a more faster storage device like Hybrid SSHD amongs the spinning harddrive vesus SSD with no movable parts similar to this case  .
Offered SSHD from the hardware manual list would still run faster than the 7200 as a better upgrade even if rpm is 5400 taking note of different mediums SSHD can use.
Hope this help answer your query.

annoyed; can't find anywhere on HP.com site to verify  a Crucial.comreplacement product is specific.  My laptop only has 2x2gb memory;I want to replace with 2x4gb (sadly, 8gb is Max).  I'm overly cautiousand simply want someone HP-authorized  to verify these are correct. Crucial product #  CT2KIT51264BF160B    *    CT5307352                                    8gb Kit (4gbx2)  *  DDR3L-1600 SODIMM

A:replace/upgrade original memory

Those are not correct. The Manual contains this information: 2 customer-accessible/upgradeable SODIMM slots DDR3, 1333-MHz Supports dual-channel support Supports up to 8 GB of system RAM in the following configurations ? 8192-MB total system memory (4096-MB 2, dual-channel) Your Service manual 4-GB memory module 599092-001 https://www.amazon.com/HP-VH641AT-4-GB-DDR3-PC3-10600/dp/B0030L3B8E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=148952607... The memory you ask about is 1600 mhz and you need 1333; it is 1.35 volt and you need 1.5 volt.  It might work: DDR3-1600 will sometimes downclock and 1.35 volt will likely also run at 1.5 volt but why chance it? Get the specified memory in the first instance.  If you will check the memory that is installed I believe it will be DDR3-1333 and 1.5 volt, but only 2 gig modules and you need 4 gig modules.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

A:replace original graphics card

Hi @ww525468,Welcome to the HP Forums! I read from your posts that you are having an issue with your HP Pavilion dv9610us Notebook and the NVIDIA GeForce G0 7510M graphics.  I have done some reading on this and some suggest it is something running in the back ground on the Notebook that will not allow the resources to be used for the NVIDIA to work correctly.  Most suggest a Virus Protection Program. Have you tried to disable the Virus Protection Program? Have you tried to see what processes are running in the Back Ground? Pressing Ctrl Alt and delete will bring up the Task Manager. You could try: In the Device Manager, click the arrow next to Display Adapters to expand that category. Right-click on Graphics and select Update Driver Software if more than 1 Graphics adapter do 1 at a time.Choose the option to Search Automatically for Updated Driver Software. The Notebook should find and automatically install the updated driverAfter the installation is complete, restart your Notebook.  You might need to reload the defaults on the BIOS. Here is a link that will help do that. Please get back to me how this goes. Please click the Thumbs up below to thank me for my efforts! Thanks.

My sister in law gave me the Vista emachine and the first thing I did was to go in and mess with everything. She wanted all her stuff off - personal and financial -.So I deleted, uninstalled, etc, but I am not yet the lone administrator and some remnants of the old backup program and pieces of stuff still there. I know the system password. It is kind of a mess but it runs pretty good but with some small aggravations - upon start-up several little signs come up about missing dll files. There is no chance that she will come up with the CD, but she may have the receipt for it. I would like to clean the Vista back-up thats in it since Norton is doing that. I really wanted a clean reboot where I could get in and fix it. Also I bought a program to check, repair, and replace  drivers. (I guess we don't use brand names?), and now I don't have a sound card working. Thanks, and I'm new here, tell me if this is too long.

Also I bought a program to check, repair, and replace  drivers. < You can name the program if it is legal.

I have two separate instances of Win8 running on two separate IDE hard drives (both Win8's restored from same exact backup image).

The one on the hard drive comected to the SATA port (via an adaptor) runs fine, but the one on the IDE connection (motherboard's only one), does not respond properly when a manual shutdown is initiated. Instead of shutting down the PC, it goes into sleep mode. This does not happen if an application (my backup software, for instance) is set to perform a shutdown after completing it's job. Only affecting manual shutdowns, but all of them.

So I am wondering if Win8 is lacking an IDE driver of some kind, and if there is a way to deternine this.

Seems strange to me that while both hard drives are IDE "underneath the hood", that the one connected throgh an adaptor is more easily being recognized by Win8, and curious if there is an easy fix.

Here's the situation. I have a 17" Sager laptop with two hard drives set up with dual boot. The first drive is the OEM drive that came in the laptop and Win7. After I installed my work software, and made sure the machine was stable, I used the computer in this configuration for a few months. I then decided to set up dual boot using a Crucial SSD drive with Win7 in the vacant 2nd hard drive bay. This allowed me to work from the old drive while I organized the SSD with my work software. (AutoCad, Rhino, etc) and made sure it was stable. After the SSD setup, it became my primary drive, and I never used the OEM drive again.

Now, with Win 10 about to be released, I was thinking about removing the idle l OEM drive and adding a new SSD and Win 10. (This would let me keep working from the Win7 SSD) However, If I remember correctly, the dual boot information (Boot Manager?) is on the original drive. Wouldn't removing that drive also disable the current Win 7 SSD?

It has been about 3 years since I dug into a computer and much has changed. I'm hoping someone here can give me info, suggestions, or even a step by step procedure to get this right.

thanks in advance.

However, when I try to start up it gives me the "EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (50-7B-9D-74-7A-43) Boot failed" still.  Boot order is set to the new Western Digital Hard drive according to BIOS. I 'm thinking I need to do a complete reinstall of the original software that was preloaded? I am in the process of moving my Win ZP from my 5-year old system to a new system which has a 500GB SATA drive. I am using the original 5+ year old Win XP Pro CD (pre-SP2).
I tried to install Win XP from this original CD. Part-way through the installation, it gave the size of Disk 0 @ ID 0 on Bus 0 on atapi [MBR] as 131,069MB which looks to me to be about 130GB, not 500! I did a quick format and preceded with the install. Later, I got a Windows Install error (blue screen) saying that "A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." etc, etc.

Could this problem be the fact that the original Win XP Pro doesn't recognize a SATA hard drive?

Could anyone advise me how I could get an installation CD which has the updates such that a SATA drive will be recognized? I was hoping not to have to go out and buy a second copy of Win XP since I will be decommisioning my current system.

Thanks for any help you can give.

A:Solved: Installing from original XP Pro CD onto a SATA drive

i would assume the BIOS needs updating. Windows XP should not have any problems with SATA drives, or drives that are 500GB.

If you have a recovery drive - that includes the recovery partition - made on one computer, but have a toshiba laptop with a bad drive (but the recovery partition is ok), can you replace/copy the partition on the recovery drive with the recovery partition from the bad laptop HD?

My friend's laptop would not boot, and would not factory recover, reset, or refresh. I tried to clone the hard drive before I started messing with the disc. It would not clone, but I was able to copy the recovery partition to a USB drive.

He never make recovery discs, so could not re-install, but I can borrow the recovery drive that my aunt made for her laptop.

A:replace recovery partition in recovery drive?

There may be a couple problems with that. The Factory Image is too large to be just copied to a Fat32 partition, so it has to be divided in sections. You could do that using DISM and put the .swm files in the sources folder. Not even a guess as to whether it would work.

There is other information concerning the configuration of the computer making the recovery drive. If it was made on a different computer, that info would probably be incorrect and not allow a reset.

I have never tried, but you might be able to copy the Factory image to a drive formatted as NTFS and then set the recovery to look for that file for a reset. Maybe you have already copied the entire recovery partition...

If you assume the factory image is the same for both systems, can you copy the entire Recovery Image partition from the bad drive to the good drive?

Hi experts - I need your help. I am a girl groping in a usually men's world.

I would like to be able to regularly put a SATA hard disk to sleep. The utility to do it ("revoSleep") needs that I replace the SATA drivers with "the standard Windows driver".

(I've installed a WD 500 GB Caviar Blue SATA hard disk, using a Promise FastTrak TX2300 PCI controller, on an WinXP SP2 system, Asus P4S533VM motherboard (SiS chipset)).

Now, what is the "standard Windows driver"? pciide.sys, pciidex.sys, atapi.sys, or all of the above? And, in "Device Manager", which driver should be replaced? The driver for the Promise Controller (appearing under the "SCSI and RAID Controllers" section), or at the ATA/IDE section?

TIA, Gail

Hi everybody, I have an issue with my AIO HP Pavilion 22-H010EL TouchSmart. The hard drive broke twice while PC was covered by warranty; now the warranty period is over, and the hard drive broke again. I suppose there's a power supply issue, in fact I see the hard drive has more boots up than I actually did; sometimes I can clearly hear a boot up noise while the PC is on (and I'm sure it's not because of the stand-by, since it happens while I'm using it). Also, just after the first hard drive replacement, it shown 7 boots up in just a hour; I suppose the SATA/Power Cable is damaged, causing the issue described, but it could be the motherboard, too.I'd like to replace the cable to see if it works, I really hope it does; thank you in advance for any reply.

Hi, I have a Lenovo G50-80 (15.6'', Core i7, 128 GB SDD hardisk). Out of 128 GB storage, I get to use only around 60 GB and the space keeps getting less, everytime the Window updates. So I was thinking of replacing this 128 GB SSD with my previous 1 TB SATA (Samsung, Model: ST1000LM024).  This 1 TB hardisk has been recovered from my previous laptop (Lenovo G510, Model: 20238, 15.6'', Core i7). So will this 1 TB SATA work in my Lenovo G50-80?

I bought a new(er) Dell from their auction site. Its an Optiplex 760 SFF. It came equipped with Windows Vista Business. I saved my older 320 Western Digital from my older computer. It has Windows XP on it. It does work, has been working on a different computer as a SATA to USB drive. The Optiplex had an 80 Seagate SATA.

I did a straight out trade of the drives. Optiplex BIOS does recognize the drive. It won't, however, boot into XP. At this point, the Seagate is completely disconnected.

What do I need to do to make this work?

A:Older Sata drive to replace newer with different OS

You need to do a clean install of Windows XP. You can't just take a drive out of one computer, install into another & expect it to run.

I'm finding conflicting information with google searches. Trying to find out what options are available for upgrading this laptop from a normal hard drive to an SSD. I'm not sure if there is a m.2 slot or not, or if it would be the best choice. Anyone know? Thanks! Edward

I have a Precision 3510 with an M.2 256GB gumstick drive, which is not nearly enough capacity for what we need. I would like to either add a second drive, or take out the M.2, but I cannot seem to track down the part numbers for the cable and/or bracket needed to install an HDD. I know that it can come from the factory with an HDD instead, but Dell never seems to have the parts in stock, and therefore will not tell me the part numbers.

Ok, so I opened up this laptop because the USB ports hadn't been working (and trust me, I had tried EVERYTHING software-side) to take a look inside and I erm... accidentally snapped off one of the USB ports. In my defense, it was already loose!

The laptop is a HP Pavilion ze2108wm, and I'm kind of afraid to take it apart again unless absolutely necessary. So what I'd like to know is what I need to do to fix the USB port? I looked at the manual from the HP website: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00444840.pdf

If you go to page 5-56, it shows a USB/S-Video controller board all as one part. My problem is that on this laptop, the USB port that I broke off is on the other side of the laptop, beside the ethernet and RJ-11 ports.

When I say broke off, I mean that I snapped it off the motherboard, just to clarify.

So how do I need to repair it, and where do I order the part from?

Yes, I'm a noob. >_<

My VPS provider asked me to block my port 25 and I did that to avoid my IP being nulled due to unknown spam issue. I installed dovecot and tried using outgoing SMPT port 587 and incoming IMAP port 143 on Incredimail. Whenever I write an email, it relays perfectly alright and whenever I try to check email in my inbox, it checks email alright. However, emails are NEVER actually relayed or received at their destination. Am I missing something? Thanks

I have to recover a USB drive with many Excel & Word files.  However, the result is given with re-named original filenames instead of the original.
It is hard for me to sort it out and organized like these, 0001.doc, 0002.doc, 0003.xls.
Does anyone one know which recovery program, can give me the original filename result, instead of 0001.doc, 0002.doc, 0003.xls ?
